Dont be overwhelmed by the following, but it may require some extensive thought and I dont expect everyone to understand....
I want to have a unbound form control a subform. On the form I have an unbound text area entitled txtDate. In this area it displays the current date being viewed. I have put left and right buttons on the main form that will add (+1) one day to the date being shown and subtract (-1) one day from the date being shown. I want to conrol it though the "On Click" but I dont know what to enter in the "On Click" field that will allow me this. The reason is, co-insiding with the previous, when the date is changed, the subform is also changed to a new day. Therefore instead of displaying 24 hours of today, you can view 24 hours of yesterday, tomorrow and so on. See, if one is to set the onclick to be: Me.txtDate=Me.txtDate-1, or Me.txtDate=Me.txtDate+1, it calls for a custom macro and I dont know why. I know it somehow resides in some similar command set up.
I also need to know how to make the subform bound but continous, and what exactly does that mean?
I have a date control and on the Click event I run the following code. Trouble is the Date Control stops working, ie you can't change the date after one click ?
CODE.
Private Sub Calendar7_Click() weekofyeartxt.Value = DatePart("ww", Calendar7.Value) End Sub
I am trying to allow a calendar to search through a text box with a large amount of data in which will have headings using the date so i wanted to use a calendar search. Hopefully this will be be like the find function in word where you type (or in this case select a date) then click search or next which will take you to that specific date.
Often I use Labels as buttons due to the fact I can colour them the way I want, and use the on click event to trigger code. The code below however works for a command button, but not a label button.
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmdatetime" Do While Forms!frmdatetime!OKFlag.Caption = "False" DoEvents Loop
When this code is run by clicking on a command button, it works fine. If run by clicking on a label, frmdatetime opens, but the mouse will not work on either of the 2 open forms unless you go down to the windows task bar, jump onto another window, and back onto frmdatetime. If I remove the loop with the DoEvents in it, then the problem does not occur.
Can anyone enlighten me as to why this behaviour occurs.
I have this command button whose caption switches from update record to save record with a msgbox verifying if the person really wants to take this action. On click the user is then allowed to update the record then in theory they would be able to hit the same button whose caption now reads save record, the msg box would appear with a yes or no answer required. The code I have is putting the msg box after the user clicks the update button.
Anyhelp and/or suggestions would be most appreciated!
Private Sub cmdOpen3_Click()
stDocName = "frmSearch"
If cmdOpen3.Caption = "&Update Record" Then If IsNull(Me.FTMSubform.SourceObject) = False Then Me.FTMSubform.SourceObject = "frmFTMInfo"
If cmdOpen3.Caption = "&Save Record" Then If IsNull(Me.FTMSubform.SourceObject) = False Then Me.FTMSubform.SourceObject = "frmFTMInfo" If MsgBox("Save update to this individual?", vbQuestion + vbYesNo, "Save Update?") = vbYes Then DoCmd.Save DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmFTM" DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName Else MsgBox "Return to the FTMInfo Form!", vbInformation, "Save Function Aborted!" End If End If End If End Sub
First, I want to say I would REALLY appreciate any help I could get with this problem. Let me lay out the details.
I DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT know the first thing about programming for ms access. I am an absolute novice, no exaggeration at all. I was a liberal arts major in school!!!!!
Here's the thing: being adventurous and all, about 2 years ago a co-worker and I were fiddling with databases to try and help out our employer keep track of dispatching his equipment for his business. With a little too much time on our hands, before we knew it, our database became fairly complicated, for such novices. A kind gentleman on this forum did us an enormous favor, and programmed a search form for our database. you could enter any or all of the id #'s for various equipment, and it would pop up in a list box. Double-clicking the listbox would open the particular record you were looking for.
Fast-forwarding to now, I'm trying to create another database to keep track of our inventory while while various equipment moves in and out of our yard. I have tried using the old search form as a foundation to create a similar search form for this db. I think I actually have it (kind-of) working! You type in a container number, and the record should pop up. which is a miracle all its own.
problem is, is that when you doubleclick the selection in the list box, I receive the following error:
I don't know what to do! I'm sure it must be something painfully simple or obvious, but I'm really stuck & would appreciate any help.
Also, I would really appreciate any advice on this: I'd like to also be able to search by chassis # in addition to container number, but i don't know how to do it. no big deal, though. THANKS SO MUCH!!
p.s., I've attached the db. please let me know if you can open it ok
I'm new in access world. please help. I have many forms that control by On click command from the main form. One of the form (which is Calendar form), I like to have password protect in away that only the right ID or password would have access to edit this Calendar, If not users can only view it. Is this possible?, if it is can you please provide some code for me...Thanks in advance..
I am trying to make a combobox visible when the user clicks on one of a tab control buttons. I wrote this code below, but I does not seem to work. Both the tab control and the combo are on the same form.
Private Sub L_B_Consent_Click() Me.cmbLBConsent.Visible = True End Sub
If Me.Setfilter.Caption = "Search By Hedging Program" Then Me.Filter = "Hedging Program" Me.FilterOn = True cmd.Setfilter.Caption = "Don't Search By Hedge Program" Else Me.FilterOn = False cmd.Setfilter.Caption = "Search By Hedging Program" End If
Hedging program is the column from the table I am trying to filter, it is a yes/no column. I want it to return all yes values in my query if it says search by hedging program and if it says Don't search by hedging program I want it to disregard the filter. I also have it set so that when I click the button it changes the caption from one to the other. So I don't know if I really need the cmd.setfilter lines because they may do the same as my command button on click function.
I have a command button on a Web Mutli-Record form that is using a "= [Report_URL]" value within the Hyperlink Address property. This all seems to work other than the fact that when the link popups up it has a "#" on either side that basically makes it an invalid address. How do I get rid of the # signs to get the web address popup in the URL when a user clicks on the Command Button that is associated to the row the record is on.
Hello everyone, hopefully you can help before I go crazy. i have been working on this problem now for 3-4 days.
I have two forms (ID-Injury Choice) and (Treatments). In both forms I have the control (InjuryID). What I am trying to do is when I click a button on the ID-Injury Choice form, the InjuryID control value is automatically transferred to the Treatments form.
For the life of me I can figure out this simple act. Any help would be appreciated.
How can I move to control on form when user clicks on another control on same form? In other words... have set validation on controls and unless I disable all the other controls on form until I need it enabled, user can click on other control and get out of the validation sequence. Need to send user back to control they were on when they click on a different control elsewhere...
I am using an active x control that when you right click on it, it automatically pops up an "About" box showing information about the control. I wouldn't object to this, but I need to use the right mouse down event for another purpose in my program. So far I have discovered that the code I put in the the event works, but only after the "About" box pops up. Is there anyway to cancel or prevent the popup? The reason that I need the right mouse down event is because is that I am already using the left mouse double click event, and I can't use the left mouse down event because then it always fires before the left mouse double click event. This control doesn't have any single click events. Ideas?
I need to return a folders directory to a text box on my forms record called Files_Directory when i click the Browse command button... The folder will have more folders within it along with documents all relivant to the folder selected, hense the need for just the folder directory rather than a file.
I have a simple application where a user clicks on the name of the person he wants to update from a drop down box.
The record is then retrieved and the fields are filled on the form. The user will then enter a value in the # in household field. The user is then required to click on the save button to write the record for this person.
I do not have strong users and they invariably forget to save the record and go on to the next person, resulting in the record not being updated.
I coded a message box as part of the save button which displays "person was successfully updated" and then instructed the user to make sure that they see this message before they go on to the next person. They still fail to update correctly.
My question:
Is there a way when the user selects a person from the drop down box and it is loaded on the form, to warn the user that they have NOT updated this person, before they go to the next person?
I don't know what else I can do with these users. They are all volunteers and elderly and the application is for a Food Pantry.
Is there a way to program a Next Page button for a tab control that can be put in the form's header and that'll go to the next page, regardless of what page I am on?
I am wandering if someone can help me out on this i have a thermal printer with it you get some ative x components to control the printer like for example what i am tryin to do is kick the cashdrawer which is connected to the printer, Now the activex button does work correctly when click but i have another command button which prints out a couple of pages odf information so what i am tryin to do is have abother cmmand button when clicked run the code and then calls or runs the active x button to open the drawer is there a way i can do is i tried using the call statement with the name of the activex but with no luck.
i would really appreciate it if someone can help me out on this. thanks.
Form 1: I have a combo box on my main menu(MenuMainF) called cboCompanyType with typical values 1,2,3,4,5,etc......
Form 2: I have a command button on my administration menu(MenuAdminF) called cmdDevelopment
My goal is to have the cmdDevelopment button of Form 2 be visible if cboCompanyType on Form 1 is equal to 1,2,3, or 4, but if it is any other value, then cmdDevelopment should be not visible.
I have a search from that has an option group, text fields, and a checkbox where the users selects a variety of option that generates a query. If the query return at least on record a split form (form on top/datasheet on bottom) is displayed and the form has an Edit and Close button. If the query returns no records the form is still displayed except the buttons are not visible.
If I knew the result of the query and then made a decision whether to open the form or release control back to the search box that would be great. To open the form I am using VBA with the DoCmd.OpenForm(,,"MyQuery","criteria") command.I thought about using the DLookup command and evaluate the return value for null to be used to control the program flow.
I am at my Login Screen, I want it to return to the Login Screen if you select "NO" and Close the DB if "YES"
Here is my current code:
Private Sub Form_Close() If MsgBox("Would you like to EXIT the Database?", vbYesNo, "Quiting Database") = vbYes Then Application.Quit Else ??? End If End Sub
So I have a continuous form and I have a button that is pressed when a job is released and it record a date in a field. I wanted to turn that button to disabled after pressed but after lots of reading found that it couldn't be done in a continuous form due to it disabling all buttons . So I decided to just make the code populate the field only if it was a null value so that it wouldn't overwrite a value if someone pressed it more than once. Well the null is my downfall in all this. I cannot make it compare and populate the date when the button is pressed. I have tried all I can find on the net and all I can think of.
