Copy Items In A Column To Clipboard
Aug 7, 2013
I am looking to create a button in access that will allow a field to be copied the the clipboard based on information in a query and then separated by a ";" and then can be pasted in another program.
I have created a database to keep track of membership. In the Member Personal Info Table I have collected their email address's and then created a query "Active Member Personal Info" for Active Members to have their name and Email displayed in the query. Now I am trying to take the 140 members email address and paste it in a gmail BCC line by clicking paste rather than doing each individual record and then copying and pasting.

I am using some vba code (see below) to put some data into the clipboard for pasting elsewhere.But it seems to fail sometimes, I think it fails when the data is too long.Is there a maximum?
The code below fails on the stmt, "DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdCopy" No specific error msg, just the dreaded "Microsoft Access Must Close...."It seems to happen when the length of the textbox is over 1000 characters.I tried inserting some DoEvents statements, but it made no difference.
Private Sub btnCopy_Click()
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
Set rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("tblLogs", dbOpenDynaset, dbSeeChanges)
If rst.RecordCount = 0 Then
rst.Close
Set rst = Nothing
[code]....

I am trying to copy a caption from a form to the clipboard so that I can later paste it into another application.
The code I have found via a search on this website 1) Clears the clipboard and then 2) copies the caption from a nominated field. 2) doesn't work as I sure I have the statements wrong.
Call EmptyClipboard
Me.B7_DB_GCUH.Caption
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdCopy

I found the following code to copy the results of a query to the clipboard.
Code:
DoCmd.OpenQuery "DataLoadTemp_qry", acViewNormal, acEdit
DoCmd.SelectObject acQuery, "DataLoadTemp_qry"
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSelectAllRecords
RunCommand acCmdCopy
DoCmd.Close acQuery, "DataLoadTemp_qry", acSaveNo
It works great, except that it is also copying the column headings. Is there any way to copy only the results without the headings?
I'm copying this data to the clipboard because I want to be able to paste it in a program called DataLoad which will load this data into one of our company's legacy systems.

I'm trying to copy the outcome of a query to the clipboard. as follows
DoCmd.OpenQuery "changeboard query", acViewNormal, acEdit
DoCmd.SelectObject acQuery, "CHANGEBOARD QUERY"
RunCommand acCmdCopy
DoCmd.Close acQuery, "Changeboard query", acSaveNo
It doesn't work because in the open query there is nothing selected.
If I select the lines by hand the copy command works fine.
However I can't find the command in VBA to select all the lines in the query.

I have a form with two Text box fields "Username" & "Password"
I want to create a copy button next to each field that will copy the contents to the clipboard.
The password field has the code:
Code:
Private Sub Command228_Click()
Me!Password.SetFocus
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdCopy
End Sub
The username field has the code:
Code:
Private Sub Command229_Click()
Me!Username.SetFocus
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdCopy
End Sub
The Username copy button for some reason gives me the following error:
Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method
Why it doesn't like this field?

I'm trying to create a right-click event on a listbox that will copy selected listbox item(s) to a temp table. So far, I've got this code to acknowledge the right click:
Code:
Private Sub List0_MouseDown(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single,
Y As Single)
If Button = acRightButton Then
MsgBox "You pressed the right button."
End If
End Sub
Problem is the selected item on the list box doesn't move until after the mouse down event so whatever code I would run would involve the wrong record(s).
I'm using Access 2000 and 2003. How to get the the correct record selected on mouse down, or point me to a working example of right-click functionality on a listbox.

I'm stuck on this one part of my code where I am trying to count values in a column called 'ItemQty' in table 'dbo_Item'. I only want to count the values with the associated values in column 'OrderNumber'. I am getting the values of 'OrderNumber' from an array. Here is my code...(it doesn't work though. When I put a Msgbox to print out what the ItemQuantity value ends up to be, it only prints my code back to me.)
Code:
For Each Order In q
MsgBox "Order = '" & Order & "'"
ItemQuantity = ItemQuantity + ("count(ItemQty) Where OrderNumber LIKE '*" & Order & "'")
Next Order

I saw the following code on the forums...
Dim i As Integer, c As String
With Me.ListBox.Column(0)
For i = 0 To Me.ListBox.ListCount - 1
c = c & Me.ListBox.ItemData(i) & ", "
Next
End With
c = Left(c, Len(c) - 2)
This works great!! Now I am trying to concatenate the column 3 of the listbox.
Tried to use the code below (pointing to the second column) but it always returns the first column data.
'Dim i As Integer, d As String
With Me.ListBox.Column(2)
For i = 0 To Me.ListBox.ListCount - 1
d = d & Me.ListBox.ItemData(i) & ", "
Next
End With
d = Left(d, Len(d) - 2)
ItemData does not allow pointing to my 3 column of the listbox.

Hi
Here's a brain-teaser for you all.
I want to create a copy of a table which I do using the code below.
SELECT * INTO My_Temp_Table FROM My_Table WHERE ColumnA = 100
Great, all works well.... but I want to exclude a column when the temp table is being built. I know I could specify all the columns I want leaving out the undesired column (rather than using SELECT *) but there are lots of them and, whilst in development, the table columns are liable to change. So I'd like to copy all coumns that are in force at any given time except one in particular?
I thought it would be something like :-
SELECT * INTO My_Temp_Table FROM My_Table WHERE ColumnA = '100' AND Columnname NOT LIKE 'ColumnB';
But this doesn't work.
Any ideas please?
Many Thanks

Hi
I have a column in a table which I need to display in another table I can just copy and paste it but I need to it to update with the original. I don’t want to have to use a list or combo box as the data has to be selected from them and isn’t just displayed like the original column.
Thanks

I have two tables pertaining to the same database.
Table [Purchase_Order_Details] amongst many fields have Columns - (Purchase Order #) which is the Primary Key and (Work Order #)
My second table [Order Details] also has a column (Work Order #) . Now I have added another column to this table i.e. (PurchaseOrderNo) - this column is blank as of now.
However I would like to run a query to fill the (PurchaseOrderNo) column depending upon the (Work Order #) which is present both the tables.

How to copy a column from one table and insert it into another table in the same database
Hi, All,
I have two tables (old and new) sitting in the same database. The new table is the result of 'data cleansing' done by an external company. In the process (export and import via excel) two memo type colums in the table were truncated in excel.
To make the new table usable, I must therefore now copy/insert the two memo columns from the old table into the new table.
Both tables are already Access tables and sit in the same database. Both tables, of course, have the same number of rows.
I tried to high-light one column in the old table, clicked copy, then high-lighted a blank column in the target table, then clicked Paste, but got error msg: "This text is too long for this field. Try copying a shorter text", as if I had wanted to copy the whole column into one cell rather than one column into another column of equal length.
What is the best way to proceed?
Thanks for your help.
Adrian

I just want to know how to manage items in set and individual item. Suppose my product list are
individual items = A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K
and 5 pc set = A,B,C,D,F
and 3 pc set = G,H,K
How should I design the table. Previously I designed the table for individual items and whenever orders for set is placed user had to enter individual items with quantity.
E.g. order is for 5 pc set = 3000
A=3000
B=3000
C=3000
D=3000
F=3000
Now I need to just say 5 pc set and it should be automatically populated. And also if order have combination of individual and set items.

I have created an Access Front End Database that many people in one of the departments use. Each user has their own copy of the Front End on their Computer. The Back End is on a SQL Server.
On one of the forms I created a Duplicate Record Button using the Wizard in Access. I have ONE user who has trouble using this button.
She uses it to copy records over and over and over. Then she changes just a few pieces of data as needed.
She often gets one of two error messages:
The Clipboard isn't responding, so Commercial Workflow(name of DB) can't paste the Clipboard's contents.
or
The command or action 'PasteAppend' isn't available now.
I have tried to recreate these errors on my computer with my front end. My Front End is the master they copy from. But I can not recreate the error.
I did check a few things on her front-end and my front end and found 1 setting different
On the Clipboard there is an options button and the first setting “Show Office Clipboard Automatically" on my front end is not checked and hers was checked. I changed that and the next day she was still having problems.
I have done a lot of searching on this and I just keep coming up at a dead end. Can anyone out there help me?

All,
I've done this time and time again with no issues...but now I'm getting a message when I try to paste in 1918 records, it only sees 983...says my clipboard may be damaged or the data on the clipboard is corrupt, any clue why?
I have linked a SQL table using ODBC and using access to plug in data.
Thanks for any help! This is driving me nuts....
