I have been struggling over this the past few days and get no where. I am trying to count the number of times Yes appears in a few fields. This is what I have right now in design view:
Field1YesCount: Count(IIF([Field1] = True,1,0))
Field2YesCount: Count(IIF([Field2] = True,1,0))
Field3YesCount: Count(IIF([Field3] = True,1,0))
This doesnt seem to work, could someone please help.

What I have: A table with multiple Date/Time columns. Here's an example:
What I would like: A month-by-month summary counting the number of entries in each of the three columns, like this:
I'm indifferent as to what happens with the months zeros across all three fields (whether they show up in the report with zeros or are omitted altogether).
Smaller Pieces: I am able to create such a summary for one column at a time:
Not what I'm looking for: I can not figure out how to create a query that does this for all three columns. My best attempt was a disaster:
I have attached the example file for your convenience: Database1.accdb
To clarify, my issue isn't the format of the date. I know about the Month(...) function. My question is regarding how to count this data and split it into a month-by-month summary (see the picture above in the "What I would like:" section)
I need to count records based on multiple criteria from two different tables. I have two tables (i.e. "tblTasks" and "tblTaskHistory"). The tables have a one-to-many relationship based on the "TaskID" field. "tblTasks" has a field called "AssignedTo" and "tblTaskHistory" has a field called "TaskStatus". I need to know how many tasks have been "reopened", the "reopened" status is located in the "TaskStatus" field in "tblTaskHistory". I need this count against a unique listing of employees which can be found in the "AssignedTo" field in "tblTasks".
I have a query that creates counts of fields based on the data in other fields, basically it tells me that in a table there are two entries with value ABC????? and three of DEF????? , the query works perfectly.
When I create a form to display this data and base the form on the Query I keep getting a message box asking for the ID (key field) from the base table.
If I type * in the box (to denote all values) and press enter I get the results expected.
What I need is propably easy to do. I have a patient information database, where patient information, visits, treatments etc. are on separate tables. One patient can have several visits and one visit can include several different treatments.
At this point I need to count how many treatments (treatment instances) each doctor has given (= a report "Treatments per doctor").
I have (at the moment) three (3) tables, which contain information of three different types of treatments. The tables are different, but each has a similar field with the doctors ID, and an autonumber field for each treatment instance.
Now, I know how to count how many times each doctor has given a treatment *from one table* (group by the doctor's ID and then count the treatment instance IDs), but how do I combine the information from three different tables?
I want to create a form that allows users to update multiple fields for multiple assets. Below is what I came up with:
Ideally, I'd like the subform to be filled in by having the user select multiple Assets from the S/N combobox field which would then auto-populate the "Type" field. Then they would fill out the appropriate fields they want edited in the top part of the form. They hit save and magic happens. This would also be nice because only assets they want edited would be displayed (easier on the eyes) and no distinguishing would be necessary. To do it this way, I know I would need to use a temp table but I wanna avoid using temp tables.
I know I can do this by adding a Yes/No field in the "Asset" table, setting the "Asset" table as the subform's recordsource, and then putting a checkbox in the subform and allowing them to check the assets that they want to edit (which would also allow me to sort it instantly so that checked Assets are at the top of the datasheet for easy viewing), but I would like to know if there's a way of accomplishing this without the use of checkboxes.
I know I could also use a listbox and that allows them to multi-select items, but I'm not sure if that allows me to group all selected items at the top of the listbox for easy viewing of selected items. Plus it would involve a lot of scrolling (there are over 2k assets).
I'm building a health data system that stores data from health tests as follows: [test01], [test02], [test03],.........[test25], etc etc. Each of these tests comprised of a "Pass"/"Fail" value.
Now, i'm building my queries for a feedback report to hand over to the client that is based solely on the 1 single client record. In other words the queries are designed to return only 1 single data record to be placed in the client report where the based on the corresponding [TestID].
So within this 1 data record i want a query to count the number of times "Pass" appears in the test fields?
As there are some 40-50 [test##] fields in this one test battery i don'y particularly want to go back and code an IIf statement for each component if i can help it.
Basically I want to create a query that shows a table like so: Wages: Contractor [Contractors.Contractor] Jobs_done [counts the number of rows from Job that has the Contractor_ID equal to the Contractor_ID specific to Contractor (above)]
Eg.
Job: Contractor_ID 1 2 3 2 1 4
Contractors: Contractor_ID Contractor 1 Bob 2 Bill 3 Jim 4 Jill
Wages: Contractor Jobs_done Bob 2 Bill 2 Jim 1 Jill 1
Hi there. Im trying to work out how I can count the dates in my database per month. What ive done is created an unbound box with an sql statement
SELECT Count([tbl Main].[Date of Call]) AS [CountOfDate of Call] FROM [tbl Main] HAVING (((Count([tbl Main].[Date of Call])) Between #4/1/2006# And #4/6/2006#));
When I select the totals button to count the records 0 are pulled out.
Does anyone know if im doing something wrong here. As always im sure its quite simple..
I'm having a hard time getting the output below from a query and was wondering if anyone would be able to reproduce this. Basically I'm trying to retrieve products that have more than 5 sales on a specific date and the retailers they sold at. I have the following simplified table.
I HAVE A DATASETS cSV TEXT FORMAT WHICH HAS A SELECTION OF FIELDS THAT NEED TO BE IMPORTED INTO A TABLE. USING THE ADVANCED IMPORT FACILLITY I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO IMPORT THE DATA PLEASE HELP AS THIS IS FOR MY A-LEVEL STUDENTS.
THE FIELDS REQUIRED IN THE SESSION TABLE ARE, Booking ID, Customer ID, Date Booking Made, Pickup Point, Payment Made
A small issue I was wondering of for a few day . Is it possible in SQL query to SELECT multiple fields from multiple tables ? Example for the question is
Code:
dim my_var as String my_var = "SELECT Emp_FName , Emp_LName , Emp_Adress " _ & " FROM Table1 " _ & " AND Emp_Date_Of_Payment , Emp_Sum_Of_Payment " _ & "FROM Table2 " _ & " WHERE Emp_ID = 3 "
Is this code actually valid in SQL gramatics , and is it usable if passed to a Recordset variable ( rs = CurrentDB.OpenRecordset(my_var) ) ? Just FYI - The two tables are not related and I want to keep them that way (If possible relate their records just via SQL/Vba )
I have 10 tables, 30+ fields on each table (every table has the same 'account number' field). I only need from 5 - 20 fields from each table. How do I get the certain fields from each table and put them in a table, query or report?
I am trying to generate a count report from a multi-table Access database. It is a recording database with a songs in one table, recordings in a second table, and a third table that links the two. I am trying to generate a report of songs with the most numerous recordings in the database.
For this operation, I don't need the recordings table. The main question is: For each title in the songs table, how many records are there in the links table with key number <50000? More specifically, for the report, I only care about the ones with a count >= 10.
Ideally, my report would look something like this:
65 Moon River 58 White Christmas 43 Autumn Leaves 42 Way You Look Tonight, The etc.
As a corollary to this, how would I add a current, dynamic count to the form I use to access the database. Whenever a song title is pulled up, a field would show the current count of records in the links table with key number <50000.
I created the below query to come up with a new form. When I enter a single parameter, it works fine. When I modify the code and enter multiple patameters, it also works fine if I do not enter any information for the parameters. But once I enter one of the parameters information, then it does not come up with anything. I double checked and made sure it was typed in correctly. Is there a trick when entering multiple parameters on a query?
SELECT [JE 06 Log].[Operational Region Name], [JE 06 Log].[Period Name], [JE 06 Log].[Source System], [JE 06 Log].[Source Name], [JE 06 Log].[Category Name], [JE 06 Log].[Associated Category Name], [JE 06 Log].[JE Name], [JE 06 Log].[JE Base #], [JE 06 Log].Area, [JE 06 Log].[Line Description], [JE 06 Log].[Natural Account], [JE 06 Log].Description, [JE 06 Log].[JE Entry Date], [JE 06 Log].[Debit Amount], [JE 06 Log].[Credit Amount], [JE 06 Log].Amount FROM [JE 06 Log] WHERE ((([JE 06 Log].[Period Name])=[Enter Period]) AND (([JE 06 Log].[Source Name])=[Enter Path]) AND (([JE 06 Log].[JE Base #])=[Enter Base Number]) AND (([JE 06 Log].[Natural Account])=[Enter Natural Accnt])) OR ((([Enter Period]) Is Null) AND (([Enter Path]) Is Null) AND (([Enter Base Number]) Is Null) AND (([Enter Natural Accnt]) Is Null));
Boss-Man has a db (humongous) that (along with a zillion other things) tracks which specific tasks have been completed, who has done it and when did they do it. All tasks will eventually be completed by all employees.
He's got a query that returns all of the dates on which each task has been completed, using each TASK name as a field.
The short version below shows the TASK1 was completed on 1/1/07, 2/7/06 and 2/17/07, TASK2 was completed on 01/05/07,by 2 people on 2/15/07 and again on 02/28/07 and so on.
Looks to me like you'd first have to identify the possible WeekEnding dates and then try to total across all the fields, but I've not got a clue how you'd do that.
Is there an easy way to "query the query", work with Week Ending on Saturday, and get the info he's looking for?
I’ve attached a zipped example of the problem I am having with customised navigation buttons.
In my main database the form “subfrmPersonsContact” works perfectly. I have exported it to a new database and now the customised record count fields do not work at all – they are in fact blank even though the navigation buttons do still work.
The code running the form and the record count fields is listed below – I have no idea why it’s not working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Rusty :D

Is it possible to have a count of all records matching a certain criteria displayed on the form?
I have to schedule customers for certain dates but never know how many have been scheduled by date while in the form. I am not sure how to reference the field from the table to be counted. I have several unbound boxes with:
=date()&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date() =date()+1&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date()+1 =date()+2&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date()+2 etc.
not sure what to use for {XXXX}
As always, any help is appreciated.....
Someday I will contribute some answers instead of questions.....
If I have a Report, with three fields (all data-type Text) named 'Jan', 'Feb' and 'Mar', and I want to have a fourth field (Unbound) alongside them, providing a count of the number of fields out of these three fields that are populated.
Hi, I am building a small sales application where I would like to get the number of opportunities created in multiple regions. The QUERY that I am using in MS Access is as follows: ----------------------------------------------------------- SELECT OPPORTUNITY.OPP_CREATION_MONTH AS [MONTH], Count(*) AS TOTAL, (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM REGION INNER JOIN OPPORTUNITY ON REGION.REGION_ID = OPPORTUNITY.OPP_REGION WHERE OPPORTUNITY.OPP_CREATION_YEAR=2006 AND REGION.REGION_NAME='REG1') AS Expr1, (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM REGION INNER JOIN OPPORTUNITY ON REGION.REGION_ID = OPPORTUNITY.OPP_REGION WHERE OPPORTUNITY.OPP_CREATION_YEAR=2006 AND REGION.REGION_NAME='REG2') AS Expr2, (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM REGION INNER JOIN OPPORTUNITY ON REGION.REGION_ID = OPPORTUNITY.OPP_REGION WHERE OPPORTUNITY.OPP_CREATION_YEAR=2006 AND REGION.REGION_NAME='REG3') AS Expr3, (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM REGION INNER JOIN OPPORTUNITY ON REGION.REGION_ID = OPPORTUNITY.OPP_REGION WHERE OPPORTUNITY.OPP_CREATION_YEAR=2006 AND REGION.REGION_NAME='REG4') AS Expr4 FROM OPPORTUNITY WHERE (((OPPORTUNITY.OPP_CREATION_YEAR)=2006)) GROUP BY OPPORTUNITY.OPP_CREATION_MONTH; -----------------------------------------------------------
What I am trying to do is get the total opportunity count for each month, followed by, the total opportunity count for the REG1 for that month, the total opportunity count for the REG2 for that month, the total opportunity count for the REG3 for that month, the total opportunity count for the REG4 for that month.
Expected output should be something like this:
Month | TOTAL | REG1 | REG2 | REG3 | REG4 -------------------------------------------- Jan 11 8 1 1 1 Feb 4 1 1 1 1
However, I am not getting the above result. In the results that are displayed the "TOTAL" column is correct but under the "REG" columns the same number keep repeating in all rows. Any help will be appreciated.
1) show the number of records in the subform on the main form 2) count the number of records in the subform where a value [Public] is True 3) count the number of records in the subform where another value [Analyst] is True.
I can achieve the first two by using the following VBA on the Main form current event -
Quote:
Private Sub Form_Current() Dim rst As DAO.Recordset Dim lngCount As Long
[Code]....
when i try to get number 3 done I get the same value as for [Public] (using lngCount for both...not surprising really!)
how i can get a count done for [Analyst] = True in the same event?
