I want to use to count how many times a record is displayed in the period and lesson field, in another table, so that this data can be used to show how many people are attending a class. e.g how many times people are attending art 1, by counting how many times art one appeared in the first table.

How to count the number of times that the data appears in a certain field (which is [Ema!l]). I have a list of ema!l addresses and I want to find out whether that ema!l address has appeared once, twice or more. I want to add this as a field in a query. I don't want to delete it or anything because it's perfectly fine for the ema!l address to appear more than once, I just want to be able to identify when the ema!l address has already appeared.
If I was using Excel I would use a Countif function to count how many times the data in the specified cell appears in the whole column, and that would give me the number. I'm not use to the language of Access so I can't figure out how to achieve this.
I tried adding a Total row to the grid in the query and then changing the total to 'count' but this just returned 1 for every row.

I'm working with a table of bird survival data I am trying to summarize in a query. I've got a bit of a roundabout way to achieve my goal, but I'm curious if there is a simpler approach.
Background : In my table, each row represents a day I check a given nest and includes a [Nest ID] (not unique, multiple visits to each nest), a [visit ID] (auto numbered, so it's a unique value for each visit at each nest), the calendar day I visited a nest [Date], and [Survive] (1 or 0) depending on whether a nest survived or failed.
I'm trying to convert this detailed table into one that is more concise. Instead of each visit to a nest being a row, each nest becomes a row with 4 fields: The Nest ID, the minimum date (the day I found a nest), the last day a nest was checked (Max[Date]), and the last day a nest was checked alive (essentially max date where survival=1).
My current solution is to run 3 separate queries. The first queries the max date where survival=1, the second queries the max and min dates regardless of any other criteria, and the third brings both queries together.
I am curious if there is a way to create the same final product in a single query rather than doing multiple ones as I have done?
I would like to do a loop but never done one before, basically i want to copy the current record by the number of times specified in a quantity field
So if the quantity field in the record says 5 then copy that record 5 times (I have managed to create the copy and paste code but dont know how to make it do it 5 times

I have a query that gives a value in a column either "A","V","L","H","P","S" or blank.
I want to be able to count the amount of occurrences of each letter and hold that number in a column. Is it easy to do?
I have a log in table that counts every time a user logs onto the database. Each time a user logs in it adds another entry to a table.
I have built a query to display the user name and date of log in so I could display this information in a report. The report is now getting rather long, and I am looking for a way to display each users name and have the total number of times they have logged in, not display each time they have logged in separately.
The Query has two fields "Agent Name" and "Logger Date"
The report displays the data as follows

What I would like to do is have a report listing each users name, with a column showing how many times they have logged on. e.g.

What I would like to do is have a field in a given record increment itself every time that record is selected. For example, say you have a table that stores items in the inventory: each item has a times_search_for_field.
Now, lets say a user runs a search which results in the following SQL:
SELECT * FROM Inventory WHERE experation_date=Today();
Now I want to have every record returned by that SQL statement increment it's times_search_for_field incremented by one. I'm just looking for the most efficiant way to do this.
I know I chould just have my asp .net code loop through the results and call an SQL UPDATE statement for each record, but it seems there should be a more efficient way of doing this.

I want to limit the numer of times a record can be entere into a table. After a record has been entered 3 times, I want an error message or validation rule to tell me it can't be done.

I have a regular payments table that will need to be edited at some point should either dates, or amounts change, but... regardless of the size of the table, it's not a problem, as these will be moved to a different table and deleted once paid.
Given the example, would it be possible to copy this record and additional 5 times, incrementing the date by one week.

I would like to be able to copy a single record in a table and then paste this record a pre-defined number of times 10,20,30 depending on requirements. The reason I need to do this is that I want to set up a number of identical records that can easily be amended into unique records. This will vastly reduce the amount of work and time spent entering records individually.
The only way that I have been able to achieve this is to copy and transfer the master record into Excel, and then copy the row and paste it into a range of cells. Copy the range of cells back from Excel and then paste this range back into the Access table.
This works but is long winded; what I would like to know is is there a simply way of achieving this.
I need to count the number of entries for a particular item located in a table. To keep it simple, we have a database used to process orders for Turkeys, this database has a field for each order called "Long legged Weight". In order to sort the turkeys in the shed, we need to know how many of each weight there are.

I have a report that is pulling data from a query and on the report, i have a controlled field that is supposed to count only data where a field says "no". Here is the string.
=Sum(IIf([Caller Used Resources]="No",1,0))
when i run the report i get the four results that say no, but i also get a blank field counting the times when this field is blank. If this field is blank, i don't want it to show anything.
I've created a report and report has the same number of pages as the number of records that it's displaying.
If there are two records, the report has 4 pages...the first 2 are the actual report and then the other 2 are a copy. If there are 3 records, the report would have 3 copies (...6 pages).
Any idea how to change this so that I have only one copy of the report?
I have a report that i can order through buttons on report or openargs. Is it possible to get a field that would count the number of time an item appears i.e., if I sort it by employee, it would count how many times each employee is on the report, if i sort it by TypeOfMalfunction, it would count how many times each appears.

I've grouped my data, and sorted the Count of each time the record appears but I cant get my head around working the cumulative percentage. My datasheet currently looks like this:

I am starting to create a resourcing database that needs to be able to work with dates and times and perform calculations on them.
I need to work out the number of hours. I have two date/time fields Day_Start_Time and Day_End_Time. I want to calculate the difference between the two in hours and then multiply by the number of working days.
I tried this: Number_Of_Hours: DateDiff("hh",[Day_Start_Time],[Day_End_Time])*[Number_of_days]
But get #Func! when I run the query.
I have windows 7 access 2013, I had a query made, and wanted to add fields to it, so i went into the SQL and added several fields. Only the first one i entered didn't work and on the query is called "Expr1003" when in datasheet view. Its right in layout view, and even when i tried adding the same field in layout view, it made it "Expr1004". spelling is correct, in both source table and query, i don't know why this field doesn't work especially when the others did.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a form that contains a blank text box for each field in a record. Until very recently it functioned correctly for years. Lately data enterers tried to fill a ten character field with five characters (ANNNN format, example X9999). Some records require an entry in this text box, some do not, so their field is left blank. Lately when a new entry is tried in this field, only the first three characters are accepted, blocking character four through ten from being entered. It acts as if the text length for this text box has been changed to three characters, but it is still the correct length in the Properties box.
The system keeps track of clients who have attended a nutrition education class and the form involved is the location the class was taught.
I am creating a simple report. I would like to add an image (already done) but repeat the number of times it appears by a numerical value i.e. [Image1] x [Quantity] (field value) so that the image repeats the number of times I require per record is this possible?

Table shows memo text fine..
but when i run a query its shows the memo field with text like: 였A and 愊` and 謍�
I have 2 tables...a lookup table with possible responses (i.e. yes, no, don't know) and the second with 8 fields that contain the values selected from the first table. Tables are related one-to-many. I need to count the number of times each of the responses shows from the lookup table shows in each of the fields in the main table. Have tried to query with the lookup field set to "group by" and each field set to "count".
