I ha ve a problem in access. I am a newbie so i can not help myself with all the things i ve read in the access forums. Beside that I need someone to help me with something very easy (i think) but i dont now how to do. So i will try to explain my problem. Imagine a table with to fields. Name and the second Dogs. Imagine:
Name.................Dogs
Mr. Peter...........Joseph; Blue; Winnie
Mr. Alexander......Jack
So the total in the table is 4 dogs. How can i have this number?
PS: I solvedthe problem in Excel but I need to do everything in Access. Thanks!!
I am attempting to split out a descriptive field so that each words which may exist in that particular field will be split out into seperate fields ... for example, if the violation field is populated with a four worded description of 'Assualt on Police Officer' I would like to somehow strip out the words so that 'Assualt' and 'on' and 'Police' and 'Officer' are all in seperate fields. I am not sure if this can be done using a simple query in access ... if anyone can offer any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
counting in access on a make table query.I work for a recruitment company, and have a table for the vacancies we raise. I then have a table linking to this where you can record the candidates submitted for each role. The 'CVSubmitted' and '1stInterview' are a check box yes/no. I now want to run a query where I have a sum of the total number of CV's and 1st Interviews for each role.
I am using access 2007 i need to know that i have a field as combined sum of apx cost with the name =sum([apx cost]) in the report section, i need the value coming in this box to be converted in text as pak ruppees.
GOAL - I would like to have one text box where I enter a sentence
txtKeywords: Access Is For Smart People Smarter Than I
I would like to create a button when clicked moves txtKeywords into another textbox [txtKeywordscombined] field and removes the spaces between the words and adds hyphens
So basically, what I have is a bunch of words in one memo field, for example:
dog cat cowboy tree flower
To search it, this is the code I have now.
' Check for LIKE Last Name If Me.txtLastName > "" Then varWhere = varWhere & "[LastName] LIKE """ & Me.txtLastName & "*" * " AND " End If
The only problem is what I search for needs to be "in order", for example, if I search for dog, I'll get the table. But, if I seach for tree, I won't because tree was not place first. Can you please help me? Thanks a lot!
I am currently creating a report form which only calculates fields/columns in my main table. However I am currently struggling counting text fields and checked fields as well as data fields in this table.
I want it to count all the "yes" checked fields in my main table targeting another column's data e.g I've got column with Category listed as 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Along with this there is a check box to say that a job was completed under cat. 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5.
I have managed to get the formula to cound all checked boxes in the databases, but what about targeting only say category 1's checked boxes or category 2's checked boxes. I need to work out %'s from these individual totals as well.
I am having difficulty in solving a problem in Access 2010 which was a doddle in the Excel version of my database.
Table1 (MailList) has a field 'Member Name' and a new field 'NumberGroups'. Table 3 (GroupMembers) is a junction table and also has a field 'Member Name'. Records for 'Member Name' are repeated in several 'Groups' within Table 3.
I require to Count the occurrences of 'Member Name; in Table 3 and display them in Table1 'Numbergroups'.
I have written numerous Queries to try to achieve this, but without success. Does it have to be a Query, or can it be achieved entirely within the structure of Table1?
In addition, I need to interrogate the resulting numbers in Table1 'NumberGroup' to determine how many member attends 7,6, 5 etc different Groups. Again this was extremely simple in Excel but I can't crack it in Access.
I'm after some code as to how to count a number of records within a table, I then want to have this number returned into a variable so I can determine usages with it, e.g. If the value is < 1 and using conditional statements.
I am facing the difficulty to solve the calculation of my Employees payment table in query, employees having three type of payments 1. Leave 2. Air ticket 3. EOSB so I have created three different queries named Airticket_Accruals, Leave_Accruals, EOSB_Accruals for these tables.
The problem is I need to include how many payments have been done to every employee in total to my every individual query (airticket, leave & EOSB) than I will less the accrual that will give me the balance I need to pay them.Field for Payment table is as follows and it has relation with Employees table with Emp_ID field.
I have a report due the first of each week in which I need the cases open and cases closed for the previous week, the week two weeks prior and the 2007 and 2006 year to date on two different types of cases. I have a case management table with a field for Type of Case, date assigned and date closed that I uses in my queries. Presently I have two query, one that generates only Type 1 cases from the Case Management Table and another for Type 2. I then use the Type 1 Query in another query that limits the results for Type 1 cases to those opened last week, one for those open two weeks ago, one for 2006 YTD and one for 2007 YTD. In these 4 queries I have one field [Type of Cases] and I have the query count. I then do this for Type 2 cases and then go through the whole process to do Closed Cases. All my queries have criteria to automatically filter the dates to the time periods mentioned above. I then have one report query that I put all the number in for my report. This query has 16 fields with the numbers for each period, last week open and closed, 2 weeks open and closed, etc. I then generated a report that takes these numbers from my report query and puts it in a report format automatically. As you can imagine this takes some time to go through each query to generate these numbers, so I was wondering how I may do this differently. Also, I have experienced a problem when a field produces no records I get a blank sceen with nothing under the Count of column and get the same thing for my report. How can I fix this.
I am using an existing database which allows my company to track claims information. One report my supervisor has asked for is a table which shows the counts of each kind of event occurring at a district level by department. For example, the classifications are injury classes like FSA, so I need to design a report which says facility a has 3 fsa's in the Wireline department in a table format. I have been looking into union queries as suggested by other sites but nothing seems to work. My labels are District, Analysis Code and Department.
Suppose I have a table with a variety of fields; one autonumber, some text fields and some date fields.
I need code to calculate the number of fields that are NOT date fields and then code to count how many of those fields (the ones that are not date fields) have data in them.
Following is the code to count how many fields in a table had data and this works well, but now I need to find a way to ignore the date fields. How can this code be modified to do the same but ignore the date fields?
Code: Public Function PercentCompleted(Table As String, IDProject As Long, TotalFields As Single) As Double
Dim sampO As DAO.Recordset, iCtr As Long, strSQL As String, Percent As Double 'Takes the fields based on the projectID strSQL = "SELECT *" & _ "FROM " & Table & " WHERE IDProject = " & IDProject Set sampO = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset(strSQL)
Does anyone have a definitive list of reserved words in Access? I understand certan words are reserved because they cause a problem when using vba. Is this correct?
It would make sense because I used to have a field called "Name" and my controls never worked correctly. I have since changed this and all is ok.
I have searched Access help files and this forum, but am unable to find a complete list other than the odd one like name, date, group etc.
Hi. I have a list of 120000 entries, of companies in the UK. I need a query that will grab all the ones which have relevent similar names to others, like a duplicate query, but a bit more specific. For instance, First Choice UK, and First choice PLC are the same company, but have two entries. but I dont want to just scroll it would take ages. Is there a way to get a query to grab anything with matching words to other entries. Not necessarily the first two words, as my subject suggests, because the company name may not be two words, but whether there is any similarity in the name at all.
Has anyone seen the message in the attached file? I got this when I was trying to update the row source on the field after I had a problem with data in a report coming up inaccurate. I've been developing in MS Access for about 7 years now and have never seen this. Any explination for this would be greatly appreciated.
I am using MS Access 2000 on a Windows 98SE machine.
I have a table and in there is the names of sandwiches, their prices and also extra info which includes whether the sandwich contains nuts etc. The actual text is "MAY CONTAIN NUTS" . When searching through the query i have made, there is the text - Extra info? for the query criteria or question and then i have to type in what i want to search or query for. Is it possible that i can just use the words 'nuts' when i search and then it will bring up sandwiches which contain the text "MAY CONTAIN NUTS" in the extra info field so that when querying it is much faster to find the sandwiches which contain nuts? If you can do this then please help. Thanks, jon.
1st time: Company Name: Automobile 2nd time: Company Name: AuID
If I type A, then it will show out the word, but the cursor is till After A, because if we type another character which will change another word 3rd time: Company Name: Automobile
4th time: Company Name: Au[I]ID[I]
What is the keyword to search about it in the forum? Anyway, does anybody know how to solve it? Please let me know, thanks.
I'm trying to pull fields from a table into a form - and have had other problems with this.....
What is textual information in one table. ie. the table I am trying to acces from a drop down will only appear as numbers instead of the text entry in the original - I have triend the bound colums but these are correct?
I've had this problem at a couple of points - it seems to be formatting the forms as numbers and pulling in the record numbers rather than the textual information. The bound colums are pointed at the textual entries but I can not change the formatting in the forms etc to text rather than number... In the drop down it shows the text entries but will not allow them to be saved when updated?
