.mde File Cant Find Project Or Library

Jun 16, 2005

Please help!

Working on an Access 97 database that I have inherited, on win 2000. The database is converted into an .mde file for the users.

I need to convert my new version to an .mde file, it does convert, but then when trying to open it afterwards gives the error below. Believe it's connected with the startup form frmsplashscreen which has 'on current', 'on open' and 'on timer' events

The expression On Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Cant find project or library.

I have gone back to the .mdb it was converted from and compared the startup form to that of a previous version. All the code is the same.
I have also tried commenting out the on open event, which then changes the error to

The expression On Current you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Cant find project or library.

I don't understand why it does not work, this same form opens fine when it's an .mdb file.

This is the first time I have worked with .mde files...I've looked on the internet, can't locate the exact error but similar ones point to problems with files on my ws (references etc). Previous versions of this database as .mde files work fine though?
Just say if you want the code from the startup form.

Help! Can't see what is causing this issue.

Link MS Project File To Form

Aug 14, 2006

http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/...ad.php?t=97787

I am attempting to add a command button on a form that will allow user to browse files, then select a MS Project file to import, then have it linked to the current record (by a hyperlink or icon of some sort) so that clicking on it will open that MS Project file.

I found the above thread and have imported the modules and the fFindOpenImportFile in order to test in my database. I have made only slight alterations to the code, as I am still a novice w/ VB, but may not have done so correctly. In the Private Sub bImport_Click, I inserted 'tbFile' where sample "C:WindowsWin.ini" had previously been, so that it will import the file already selected from the bBrowse_Click. (If there is a cleaner/better way to do this, I would appreciate any help.)

Here is an exceprt from the code:
Private Sub bImport_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_bImport_Click

Me.tbHidden.SetFocus

If IsNull(tbFile) Or tbFile = "" Then
MsgBox "Please browse and select a valid file to import.", vbCritical, "Invalid File"
Else
If Dir(tbFile) <> "" Then
CurrentDb().Execute "DELETE * FROM tImport"
'FileCopy "C:WINNTWin.ini", "C:WINNTWin.txt"
DoCmd.TransferText acImportDelim, , "tImport", "tbFile", False
MsgBox "Your file has been imported into the Database."
Else
MsgBox "Your computer does not have a C:WindowsWin.ini file so the import example will not work.", vbInformation
End If
End If

Exit_bImport_Click:
Exit Sub

Err_bImport_Click:
MsgBox Err.Number & " - " & Err.Description
Resume Exit_bImport_Click

End Sub

The imported form works great for 'Browse' or 'Open', but when I try 'Import', I get the following error:

2391- Field 'F1' doesn't exist in destination table 'tImport'

I even went back to the sample database and tested the form within the sample, using "win.ini" file and get the same error????:eek:

Of course, when I try it with an actual *.mpp file, I get this error:

31519- You cannot import this file.

...which leads me to believe that even if I fix the first error, I might be on the totally wrong path b/c it's an *.mpp file???:confused:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help!

How Do I Complete This Project? Need A Few Answers To Finish DB Project.

Apr 25, 2005

I have tables and forms setup but I have 3 general questions on how to finish the project.

1. Should I create a folder where all the files reside for instance, create a phone log folder, put the DB file into the folder and export XML's into the same folder?

2. How do I get the form to launch as a self-contained form without the Access application in the background?

3. How can I get this form and table to automatically update an XML spreadsheet whenever records are added?

4. How can I get the form to sort all records according to time logged? The time will be entered in manually and we need all the records to sort automatically by time in ascending order.

Failure In Creating MDE File

Sep 26, 2005

hi There
I Have A Database Trying To Convert It To MDE I Get The Following Message
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This error is usually associated with compiling a large database into an MDE file. Due to the method used to compile the database, a considerable number of TableID references are created for each table. The Microsoft Jet database engine version 4.0 can only create a maximum of 2048 open TableIDs at one time. Exporting a database as an MDE potentially can exceed this limit if the database has a large number of objects (table, macro, form, report, etc).

There is no accurate method to estimate the number of TableIDs the Jet database engine uses during the process of compiling a database as an MDE. However, each VBA module and each form uses one TableID, as a result, if the database has 500 forms, and each form's HasModule property is set to Yes, as many as 1,000 TableIDs are used.

Any Help Please
Thank You In Advance

Need Help Creating Table From Excel File

Nov 20, 2006

I am stuck with a problem where I need to create a new table from an excel file. In detail my problem is;
The excel file contains an order from a customer, like below,
BOM Component Qty
123 abc 2
123 def 2
234 ert 1
234 qwe 1
234 uio 1

I need to create a table from this data like;
Qty Partno
1 123
4 abc
4 def
1 234
2 ert
2 qwe
2 uio

NB! In reality the components are numbers not letters.
The qty for BOM is always 1 and the component 2xqty.

It is important that the BOM number is listed first and thereafter its components.

So I need to somehow associate the BOM number with its components and list them together as a group.
I just cannot figure out how to do this.

ANy help is greatly appreciated.

Creating A Hyperlink To Open A PDF File?

Jan 22, 2014

I have a form, and on that form I have a textbox called RefDwgNo (user not allowed to make changes...just for viewing). Displayed in this textbox is the name of a file (without the .pdf extension). I changed the textbox to 'is hyperlink' and added to OnClick- this code:

Private Sub RefDwgNo_Click()
FollowHyperlink "***private***engineering_data***Private***Des ignFitoutLabel Plate\_LATEST REV"
End Sub

The user needs to actually open the .pdf file, not the folder its located in. How do I add the file name from this textbox to the code above?

Creating Batch File Running Access Query?

Dec 20, 2012

I am creating a batch in an Access Query to decompress files that come in from an FTP site. When I right click on the query and export it to a TXT file I get all the line items of the that I want without the header of the query field name. When I run the following command;

DoCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, "Decompress2 Specification", "qry_FileNameChange2", "J:operationsDecompress2.txt", True

(Where "Decompress2 Specification" is the name of the Spec)

I get the name of the field as the first line item and then all the line items I am looking for. I use the same Spec when I manually run it or when I run it from the code. how I can get rid of the first line item when I run it from the code?

I run a batch file to change the txt extension to bat.

Creating A File Upload Function Where Selections Save The Document?

Sep 12, 2014

I work in a school where teachers have to archive their assessments and other documents monthly. Currently they email them to a set email address but I was wondering if it would be possible for me to make something with access whereby they can do this. I'd like to make a form where they selected their name and then attached a file, this file would then be saved in an area I would have assigned that persons name to, does this make sense? I want it to be very simple so just a name section from a dropdown then a file upload section and done.

New Project

Apr 18, 2006

Hi guys. Back on the development trail having enjoyed a long break after the birth of my son :)

How quick one forgets!!

Project: My father-in-law would like me to develop a DB for his new company. They buy and sell plant hire (all done the old fashioned way, on paper).

His requirements are a little beyond anything I have attempted in the past so was hoping for some sound advice.

He would like to be able to record both Sales and Purchases. I have never worked with Stock before. What is the best method, any examples (did a search on stock prior to posting). He would also like to have VAT as an option (this stumped me on my last project!!).

Many Thanks,
Phil.
