Creating Multiple Records From One Field 2

Dec 21, 2004

Hi,

still not sure how to split one field therby creating multiple records from it.
For instance:
split field:
PRMF
Craven House; Ample Mansion; WHSmith; Bulevard Terrace.

to

PRMF
Craven House
Ample Mansion
WHSmith
Bulevard Terrace.

I have made it a little clearer on the attached word doc.

The plan is to prompt the user to enter a postcode, then based on postcode an sql statement splits the fields of the field metioned with the criteria on a query. Any help very much appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Creating Multiple Records From One Field

Dec 17, 2004

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had code to split a field by semicolums, to create multiple records. The field has the first line of address for each property with a particular postcode.
For instance

field name:
PRMF
Craven House; Ample Mansion; WHSmith; Bulevard Terrace.

I want to be able to split fields like the one above with these properties by the semicolums so they become seperate records, but share the same other fields e.g. postcode, city...

Thanks in advance,

M-.

Creating Multiple/duplicate Records For Output

Mar 13, 2007

Hi

I am writing mini database which will produce labels for boxes. I want to be able to produce a sheet of labels based on the 'number of labels' to print field. I can output one label or many on the page/s depending on how I structure the query and how many records are in the query.

My Question:
I need is a query which takes an individual record and duplicates it by the integer in the 'Number of Labels' field

any ideas?

thanks

General :: Creating Multiple Records (with Queries)

Jul 19, 2012

I'm working on a contact database for my company's sales efforts. It tracks interactions with prospective customers and assigns them to employees here. My question is this: For mass contact efforts (such as mailings), is there a way to create mass entries to my "Interactions" table so that no one has to enter a mailout interaction 1000+ times?

Structure of the relevant bits of the database is as follows:

Contacts Table
Interaction Table

Contacts Table is linked with Interaction table via ContactID

Queries are run to narrow Contacts by various criteria (ex.: by the employee they're assigned to).

So if I run a query to get all the contacts assigned to me, and there are 450 of them, and I send a mailout to all of them, and I want to add an interaction to those 450 people, is there an automated way to do this?

Modules & VBA :: Creating Multiple Records Using Button - Text Box To Say How Many To Create

Jul 22, 2015

I am looking for a way to enable a user to fill in a number of fields on a form press a button(CreateButton) and duplicate the records how ever many times is stated in a text box(TxtQty). I also need this to increase the serial number by the amount of times stated in the text box.

There will need to be another text box (TxtNextSerialNumber) stating the next first available serial number

For Example:
TxtNextSerialNumber = AD-Oracle-00010
TxtQty = 5
Press CreateButton to create 5 records
TxtNextSerialNumber = AD-Oracle-00014

5 new records created with the below fields duplicated and the above happening.

I will then need a message box informing the user of the serial numbers created:

'You have created serial numbers AD-Oracle-00010 to AD-Oracle-00014'

Table Name: ADOracle
Form Name: ADOracleTestData

Fields Names:
CustomerName: Duplicate
PartNumber: Duplicate
OrderNumber: Duplicate
OrderDate: Duplicate
HoseKit: Duplicate
Returns: Duplicate
Comments: Duplicate
SerialNumber: + the amount shown in TxtQty starting on next serial number available.

Help Creating A Multiple Field Search Form

Nov 2, 2007

Hello, i have a database that simply holds all the information on one table at the moment and what im trying to figure out is how to create a form that i can enter data onto that searches all the different fields at once, instead of one search for one thing and another for another. Some of the fileds are Headset number, gasket number, make, model, engine cc, etc.. so what i want to be able to do is have a form with a text box for each of these fields that then searches the table to narrow down the search results. at the moment i have a search for each, say for one i enter the headset number, it searches and pulls up all records with that headset number, then i have a search for engine cc, but what happens is it searches all records again for the engine cc not following on from the search for headset number so i end up back with a load of records with diferent headset numbers but with the searched engine cc. Basically the search form needs to take data entered into each text bow for each field then the combined results from each, narrowing down the results. can anyone help? in laymans terms!!
Thanks

Creating Multiple / Sequential Crosstab Columns From One Field

Jan 3, 2013

Number of Operators per Permit

Permit
Operator Name
6
065-24088
EOG RESOURCES INC
6
065-24088
PDC MOUNTAINEER LLC

[code]....

I want to take this data and create six new columns (operator1; operator2; operator3; operator4; operator5; operator6) for each permit number so that each unique operator name will be housed in each of those six columns, with the rows being defined by the permit number. So, I want to produce something that looks like this...

Permit

operator1
operator2

[code]....

At present, there are as many as 6 operators per permit, but the number of operators per permit varies from 1 to 6. I included an example that has 5 operators, to show that I want the sixth column to be null in this instance. So if a permit had only one operator, only the operator1 field would take on a non-null value in the new table/query.I know how to do this with 2 operators per permit by using min/max or first/last functions in a query, but I don't know how to deal with more than two operators per permit.

Combine Multiple Records' Field Value Into One Field?

Nov 7, 2006

Let's say I have two tables:

Product.
Item Description
A It's Red
B It's Blue
C It's Green
D You'll love it

Category.
Item Category_name
A Cat1
A Cat2
A Cat3
B Cat1
B Cat4
C Cat1
C Cat6

I want to create a query/table that takes all the possible values for Category.Item and mix them into one field seperated by say a comma, so it would look like this:

ItemCategoryConsolodation.
Item Desc Categories
A It's Red Cat1,Cat2,Cat3
B It's Blue Cat1,Cat4
...

How does one do that?!

What's it called when you try to do this so I can Google it?

I've looked through like 8 Access books at the book store and none of them address anything like this. Can someone recommend a book that would cover "weird" stuff like this?

Collate Field Content From Multiple Records

Jul 15, 2007

I have a database with company records in one table and calls made to companies in another table; the two tables properly related on a CompanyID field. A query joining the tables returns a dataset with multiple instances of CompanyID's because each company may have received 0 - n calls.

I would like to collate the content of the 0 - n[/I] callnotes records for each company into a single 'CollectedNotes' entity. I have two questions please.

Can anyone think of a way to do this without using code?

If not, can anyone give me a helping hand with the code?

In pseudo-code terms, I anticipate something like accessing the recordset for CompanyID's related to CallID's looping through to write the content of each instance of a CallNote (identified by unique CallID) to a new 'CollectedNotes' object. Help gratefully received. Thanks. MITW

Queries :: Merging Data In One Field From Multiple Records

Jul 30, 2015

I am linking to an SQL database that is designed in such a way that the problem description is recorded in multiple records. See a simplified example below. I want to run a query that will merge the information in the PROBLEM_DESCRIPTION and return only one record for PROB_ID 55678.

PROB_ID ORIGINATOR DATE PROBLEM_DESCRIPTION
55678 Jim 01/01/2015 While cleaning my computer, I noticed
55678 Jim 01/01/2015 the screen was cracked. I called
55678 Jim 01/01/2015 the IT department and they said I had
55678 Jim 01/01/2015 to write a work order. However it
55678 Jim 01/01/2015 was rejected without reason.

Modules & VBA :: Return Multiple Records In A Single Field

Apr 6, 2014

I'm trying to create a report that's based on a query, and the query has three fields: [PersonName], [PersonDate], [PersonShift]. This table holds records for people that worked on certain days and certain shifts. What I want to do is create a report that gives a graphical calendar display of each day in a month, and on any day that the person has a record (and sometimes there are more than one), I'd like to see just the PersonShift records showing in that day's box.

tblPersons
PersonName PersonDate PersonShift
Jason 4/10/14 FIRST
Jason 4/13/14 FIRST
Jason 4/13/14 SECOND

So if I were to print this report for Jason, I'd get all the days in April laid out like a calendar, and on 4/10/14 you'd see "FIRST" in the box, and on 4/13/14. you'd see FIRST and SECOND in the box. All the other boxes would be blank.how to display the calendar, how to display the dates. I'm able to return records to those boxes by creating 31 separate queries, one for each day of the month, and each query returns records for that day. The queries are added to the report as subreports. It all works beautifully.

The thing is, I'm running 31 queries every time I pull the report. Is there a way to code a single field on a report that will run a SELECT statement on the table using variables that are located in fields elsewhere in the record?

If I have a PersonName field on the header of the report, and I have a PersonDate field in the detail of the report's record, can I create a new field in the detail of that record that runs a SELECT statement on qryPersons, and filters the tblPersons by the PersonName on the header of the report and on PersonDate in the record?

I want a field on a report that runs a SELECT statement on tblPersons, I want the field to return only the PersonShift records for that person based upon the PersonDate. Each of the fields on my report have a CalendarDate field, and I want the SELECT statement to return records where the PersonDate matches the CalendarDate, and again, it should only display PersonShift records.

Display Text From One Memo Field And Multiple Records In A Report

Apr 10, 2008

I have an Access database where we grade reports. At the end of the grading form I have a memo field [Comments] for the grader to enter comments about why the report received the grade [Grade]. Each report is graded by multiple people. So for example, ReportNum 08-001 may be graded by 5 people and therefore will have 5 records in the database. I need a report to show all the comments for all the reports where the grade is <80. I know how to do this except for how to display all the comments from the memo field in the 5 records on one report for that ReportNum.

I hope I am making sense. I appreciate any help.

Forms :: Updating Field On Multiple Records Selected In Continuous Form?

I have a form listing tasks to which I make personnel assignments with a multi-value list field type. It takes some time to select from 15-25 employees on the list for each task, especially considering that small groups of employees will be assigned to the same selection of tasks.

What I want to do is select multiple records with the mouse, then click a command button opening a form in dialog mode with the selection list. The user then clicks to make his selections and clicks ok, which then updates the multi-select field for the selected records.

Creating Multiple Subforms

Nov 13, 2005

I am trying to add multiple subforms (or subtables?) on an existing form. The underlying table is a very detailed descriptive table for art in a collection, I am already using one subtable to manage the movement in and out of inventory. When I look at the table in the datasheet view, I see the "+" sign next to each record, and when I click on that, I see the subtable I already have setup - looking at that, it seems impossible to have more than one subtable... is this true? This does not seem right.

My question is this:
Can I have more than one subform in a given form? What I would like to have is a subform to keep track of provenance for any given piece (history of ownership), and another to track appraisals (values, dates, appraiser, etc) of any given piece in the collection.

Are there any samples of what I am trying to do?

Creating Rows In Multiple Tables

Nov 3, 2004

Hello:

I'm new to Access but not SQL, and am having difficulty coming up with a solution to the following problem:

I have one table for all Strings used in all other tables (to make Internationalization easier). The fields are: zId, zType, and zString. zId is an AutoNumber field. zType is a number which defines what type of string it is ( Item Name, Person Name, etc. ). zString is a text field with the actual text string (can be empty).

I have another table for Items, which have (among other things) Names (field name= zName). zName is actually a lookup into the Strings table and stores just the ID.

I want to create a form for people to enter a new Item. When creating a new item using this form, they will have to give it a Name, which will need to add a new entry into the Strings table with the appropriate type (ie, Item Name).

So, my question is "How to do the following..."
* on my form to enter Item Data, when a user goes to create a new Item, I must first create a new entry in the Strings table with the correct value for zType. Then, I must get the value for zId for this new entry and assign it to the zName field in the Items table for the new record that I am creating.

Any help is appreciated.

Creating A Report From Multiple Tables/forms

Jun 2, 2006

Could you please help me out.

I am trying to develop a DB that is multi user. i ahve not split the data from the forms into separate db's as the users are in different locations and our network can be very slow.

part of the requirerment is to produce a drawing approval form, my current sticking point is that the method i am currently using to create the forms only allows one person at a time to use the process.

currently i have a command button that runs a query and then creates a table from the results. the table is then used as the data source for a mail merged form in word.

what i ultimatly need is a process which allows multiple users to generate these forms at the same time and have the ability to save the form (with no code behind it) as a word document (either RTF etc)

i am thinking that if i create a query on the fly in VB and then use the results to use in a report this would allow me to do the above.....

So my questions are:

1) is my assumption correct
2) If so, how do i do it as i have never done it before
3) If the above is not the best solution/ does not work... what will/is
