Creating A File Upload Function Where Selections Save The Document?
Sep 12, 2014
I work in a school where teachers have to archive their assessments and other documents monthly. Currently they email them to a set email address but I was wondering if it would be possible for me to make something with access whereby they can do this. I'd like to make a form where they selected their name and then attached a file, this file would then be saved in an area I would have assigned that persons name to, does this make sense? I want it to be very simple so just a name section from a dropdown then a file upload section and done.
I have created a file sweeping program in Microsoft Access via VBA in a few modules. The program simply reads certain files in certain directories, and determines if, when, and where to copy those files based on certain user inputs.
One of the features I would like to add would be to upload the files that meet that criteria to a conventional FTP server requiring a username and password. However, the last few days of research all tells me that it is not possible to perform FTP functions in Microsoft Access or in VBA.
I am just wondering if that statement is really true? I figure the worse case is that windows has its own version of FTP.exe that you can execute in a DOS window ... would one be able to perhaps create a command line execution via VBA? Any simple ideas or is it not worth the trouble trying to FTP upload some files via Microsoft Access with VBA?
I need code for save dialog file ,and select the file from textbox and save it to the selected location.i have only this code and i dont know what else i can do with this because it just opens the save file dialog !
I recently upgraded a DB from 2003 to 2013 and ran into the following problem.
I have a button that opens a file dialog box and allows the user to upload a file to a predetermined location (and store the address as a hyperlink). I borrowed this code from someone else on here and modified it slightly.
In any case, the button still works, but now when it opens it doesn't have an option for "All files" under file types. So I can upload MS Office files, text files, etc., but not PDF files which are by far the most common types my users upload.
Private Sub Command35_Click() Dim dd As Integer Dim fileDump As FileDialog Set fileDump = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogOpen) dd = fileDump.Show Dim Yourroute As String Dim yourrouteName Yourroute = fileDump.SelectedItems(1) yourrouteName = StrReverse(Yourroute) yourrouteName = StrReverse(Mid(yourrouteName, 1, InStr(yourrouteName, "") - 1)) FileCopy Yourroute, "us170fp00dataWBO_Tool_RoomDrawings" & yourrouteName Me.Drawing_Link = yourrouteName & " # us170fp00dataWBO_Tool_RoomDrawings" & yourrouteName End Sub
hello good day. hope im inthe right place. can someone point out to me if there is a way to do a file upload using ms access 2003 and not just stor the file path...thanks
Hi, I’m trying to develop a form for coding data from historiocal documents into a dataset. The form is used to avoid errors when converting ‚questions’ in the codebook to the codes for later statistical analysis. Some questions allow for multiple anwers – but need to be stored to one field in the data-table, separated by semicolon. Ideally I would have a list-box with the questions and write the codes into one field after selection. Another difficulty is, that later the data need to be read from the table and the selections should be visible in the form (if the table contains „1;6“ items 1 and 6 in the listbox should be highlighted).
I’d be grateful for tips or links to relevant sources. Thanks!
Hi I have a form (Quotation) and i would like when i press a command box to save it as a word document. I tried that with a command box and with a macro using OutputTo Action. I can save the Form But i can not have a proper understandable format. How this is possible?
My aim is to save it as .rtf for example, and attached to the customer mail.
I'm looking to add a button to my Customers form which will mailmerge the current record to a Word template and then save the Word doc as a new file (Ideally the customer's name).
I've looked at the Super Easy Mailmerge but I can't work out how to implement it without all of the variables (selecting documents etc.).
The files will all be saved to one location (C:CustomersExports) and this won't change.
This is also the location of the mailmerge template (C:CustomersExportsTemplate.docx)
I would like to create a form that allows me to search for a folder on my desk top, then once located i can transfer that file to a specific location on another drive, Similar to the Browse / upload function you see on many applications.I am using Access 2003. Is this possible??
I am trying to develop in MS Access 2003. I have a database which generates sales quotations and i want to develop it further to use for other purposes such as generating purchase orders.
I currently have a table for parent data, such as company name, and a sub table for quotations. One company could have more than one quotation. At the moment I am manually filling 'TblQuoteItems' with line items for each quotation.
What I would like to do is have pre-populated tables with items which can be added into a quotation. Then, on selection and generating a quot, is for access to take that data and copy it into another table from where i will be able to run some other queries.
Any advice on how to achieve this grateully received
I have attached the excel document in a zip file. Excel documents are not an authorized file type. This is going to be used for volunteers to input the shift and day they would like to work. I want to start by requiring volunteers to contact me and I will add them to the list of possible volunteers and I will give them a unique identification number.
When they contact me I will require all the information that is currently in the excel document (first, last, supervisor, ph number) I will then add them to a list of possible volunteers.
Then I would like a form they can access via sharepoint for volunteering what shift they can work. On this form it will have a box to input their unique id number and then select a shift from a dropbox (that has not been filled and auto populates). This will add them to the schedule.
Then I need a way to pull a report that shows all the volunteers and does not include their ID numbers.
As you can see the supplied document is full for March. I also have a second sheet that is blank for April.
I imagine there will be tables for
Volunteers (no duplicates in this list) Supervisors (1 supervisor can be over multiple Volunteers) Dates/Shifts (there are 2 shifts per day, there are 2 slots per shift)
i have created a form that has data in a field as a referance, i want to use that ref to open a page or PDF file to that referance ,
The idea is that the form is the data input for hard copy documents, i will scan the documents and store them on a hard drive i then want to open the documents as word, or PDF files from the form to the ref of the field in that form
When I execute the below function I get an error. If I use the commented out "Open" line it works fine. I get Run-time error '52'. Bad file name or number.
Private Sub GenerateSSA_Click() Dim strRA As Variant, strFileNew As String, strFileBlank As String Dim intFileOut As Integer Dim rstWork As DAO.Recordset Dim dbs As DAO.Database Dim qdf As DAO.QueryDef
I have a query that combines few different tables in order to create a View (Query) that is then used to by and Excel sheet to update a list. The Excel is dynamical updated when new data is inputted in the Access Tables.
But one of the fields in a query is combination of path name and report name (another filed in one of the tables) that crate a complete path to a file that contains some additional information.
Now since the Excel is updated dynamical and users of this Excel sheet are not very advanced. I waned to make it easy for them to just click on the location of the file and the file opens up. But I am not able to make the Query that contains the file destination hyperlinked.
I am running an autocompact module in Access97 which will created a 'compacted version' of my database. I then want to rename this compacted version to the name of the original database I compacted. I cannot however find a way of doing this in code.
Basically the idea is to compact every 45 minutes or so, but what my autocompact is doing is creating a compacted version under a different name, and so compacting a copy of the database, I then want to change this compacted database name to the original name and re compact every 45 mins
I've read through the forums on saving the results of a calculation into a field is a bad idea. I somewhat understand the reasoning for it. But I don't think such situations arise for everyone.
But I have gone with the suggestion and created an updatequery, which simply goes through and updates the calculated value into a table. Now each time the updatequery is run its asking for permission as to the fact if I'm sure I want it to be run. How do I turn this option off. And should I call this updatequery afterupdate or beforeupdate?
I'm fairly new to Access and I'd appreciate some help. I've built a form with buttons to open new forms for that specific record (based on queries as all the data is held in a single table). This works fine until I try to add new records. At the moment the only way I can make this work is to add the new record, shut the original form before re-opening it and proceeding on to the other sections (via the buttons I mentioned).
If anyone could tell me how to get Access to save the record before it opens the other forms I'd really appreciate it.
I really like Access, I can manage well with it. But I have a problem, and I really wonder why this kind of thing happens in such a professional program using a lot of important data.
Actually the program saves automatically, and I don't like it. For example I try a little something, delete some stuff, replace by something else, and when I quit the program, it doesn't say a thing, and when I come back, the unimportant stuff I changed is still there, and what was replaced is lost. Why? Is there any way to force the program to ask if I want to save the changes?... It's really annoying and I really don't feel secure with my data with this system.
Hello, I am using a useful function to save data of a form using the snapshot utility. I open the form, add or change data and sent the form to other users via e-mail. The snapshot uses a report. The code to do this is the following:
Me.Refresh DoCmd.SendObject acReport, "EmailmyForm", "SnapshotFormat(*.snp)", "", "", "", "Action Required", "Please take action on the attached case.", False, ""
I was now thinking if it is possible to save the shapshot report as a file directly into a selected folder on my S drive (ex. S0000abmyfolder. I will need that the file is automatically named for my with the SSN present on the form.
I have a form based on query. On form i am retrieving data from another table using DLookup in a unbound text box. So I want to save the result of DLookup function in another field/table on same form.
Does anyone know where I can find a sample db that will let the user do the following:
Selected a file from their computer and upload to a the same folder as the db?
I am building an Investigation database. This function will allow the user to attach file to an investigation. (the files will be stored in a folder and logged on a table)
