Creating A Form To Append A Table With Values From Other Tables
Oct 12, 2006
Hi,
I have built an Access DB containing 3 tables: dimensions, time, companies. The tables are not linked and are to be used to look up values for the new form. The goal is to create an Access form that would allow the user to select distinct values from all 3 tables, enter some own data and then execute an append query to add the record to the main table.
Something like this:
Initially I have 3 tables:
Prepopulated Dimensions table with fields:
dimension
....
Prepopulated Time table with fields:
Date
Day
Month
Year
Prepopulated Companies table with fields:
Company
....
My form is to be able to select distinct values (combobox) from all three fields:
Company
Dimension
Day
Month
Year
Value (data entered by user)
The record then is appended to the Main table containing:
Company
Dimension
Day
Month
Year
Value (data entered by user)
I have an append query created to add files to a table from an imported excel file. The table to which I am appending (SubTBL) has a field names Observation. This field is not required. There is a relationship to another table (ObservationTBL) which has 3 records. The information I am trying to append includes 7000 records, about 4000 have observations assigned and they match the information in the ObservationTBL. The remaining 3000 have blank records for observation. When I run the append query, only those with observations are appended. The rest are not added because of "key violations". I removed the relationship between the ObservationTBL and the SubTBL and the append query runs. Then when I try to re-do the relationship it fails "Violates referential integrity rules".To be clear:
1. The records without an observation are blank. (There are other fields in this append that have blank fields also and they are not causing any problems) 2. The field observation is NOT set to required.
i am trying to create an append query that gets 2 values from one table and a 3rd value from a form.
It gets the values from the table fine but always gives me a popup asking for the value from the form.
I have used the criteria build... and selected the loaded form and the field value that I am looking for. I have also made sure that there is a value in the field on the form.
is there a reason why the query will not grab the number in the forms field? or am I jsut not doing this right.
I have done this many times on a combo box and it works fine. It is jsut not working for a field that is typed in Can anyone help me?
I have a table that deals with current data (as in member rentals of items). The normalized tables that we have been given include a rental history table. The idea is that, when the member has returned the product a history entry is made in the completed rental table.
I wish to have a button which is clicked to triggers this event. Would I program a macro to do this? In other words, would I create an event that passes those values to the relevant fields in the other table (Name, date issued, return date etc)?
I'm using Access 2010. I need to calculate a score based on values selected in a table by looking up corresponding values in other tables. I have a "Project" form to create new entries into the Project table (see Table 1). When I create a new project record, I will select values for the Payback and Need fields by selecting options from a list. The Payback list is pointed at Table 2 and the Need list is pointed at Table 3. In the below example, I created the "ABC" project and selected "1 year" for the Payback field and "Repair" for the Need field. Pretty simple.
Now that I have the "ABC" project loaded to my Project table, I'd like to create a report that will show a "score" for this project. The score should be calculated as follows: Payback Impact + Need Impact. In this example, the score should be 30 (Payback Impact of 20 + Need Impact of 10).
I am using an existing database which allows my company to track claims information. One report my supervisor has asked for is a table which shows the counts of each kind of event occurring at a district level by department. For example, the classifications are injury classes like FSA, so I need to design a report which says facility a has 3 fsa's in the Wireline department in a table format. I have been looking into union queries as suggested by other sites but nothing seems to work. My labels are District, Analysis Code and Department.
Have a form that contains fields AssociatedProject, AssociatedRelease and then the user hits a button to create a new record and a new form opens to display this newly created record which sets the fields and also sets a field called Type. There is no issue with setting the field values and the new record is created. However, when the form opens to display the record it displays another record instead (usually the one before it). I think it could be related to the fact that the db resides on a shared drive which periodically has slow connectivity. However, I'm looking for a solution, perhaps modifying the code?
Here's the code:
Private Sub Command17_Click() Dim strSQL As String Dim db As DAO.Database Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim ctl As Control Dim varItem As Variant On Error GoTo Err_Command17_Click Set db = CurrentDb() Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("Tbl_Main", dbOpenDynaset, dbAppendOnly)
I have the following code, the purpose of the code is that to take all rows from each table to append them into one table. However, I am testing this code with 2 tables (Table2 and Table3) each table has 2 records, when I run the code, it keeps adding records to table 1 that exceeds one million. what is wrong with my code?
Dim tblString, I As Integer Dim rstFrom As Recordset, rst2 As Recordset Dim db As Database Set db = CurrentDb Set rst2 = db.OpenRecordset("Table1", dbOpenDynaset)
I'd like to copy data from an excel spreadsheet and paste it into a temp table in Access and then hit a button which will run an append query and append all the data in the temp table to a permenant table.ow to create a temp table?
I'm trying to create a record for a table that has 2 attributes:
ContainsTracks +album +tracks
I have my main form, where the album is determined by a TextBox. My subform has a textbox that lists the tracks (in datasheet view). I have this set up and working fine.At the moment if I try to add a new record by typing a new entry into the subform I get the error: "Index or primary key can not contain a null value". This is because both album and tracks make the composite primary key of ContainsTracks.
My question is, how can I tell the subform to grab the value from TextBox1 in the main form as the +album when I create a new record.I have provided two screenshot that perhaps explain my predicament a bit better
I have a table in MS Access 2010 with a Date field and 3 Memo fields. I wish to append data to the Access table from a MS Word doc that has a date field and 3 memo fields. My wish is to have a command button on the MS Word doc which appends the data to my Access Table.I am aware that a web page can append data to an Access table.
I am trying to import from Excel and append to an existing table. My excel sheet is named tblStatus and I am trying to append it to my Access table "tblStatus".
I get an error message that says "The first row contains some data that can't be used for valid Access Field Names. In these cases, the wizard will automatically assign valid field names." (I used the excel sheet to set up my table.) After I click OK, I get to the point where I can click finish, and I get a "Subscript out of range" error.
Hi All. Need union three TableA, TableB and TableC into one table called TableX? All table has same column name. TableX shouldn't has dublications. Thanks
I have an Access database, where one of the tables is near the maximum amount of fields (241 of 255), was just wondering if I could set up a secondary table that would be linked to the original table by a specific field and would store the other fields that would like to add to the table.
We have an MS Access 2010 Database that uses Local Tables, External MS Access Tables, and ODBC Linked Oracle Tables (Accessed for Read Only). The unsual issue occurs with the ODBC Linked Oracle Tables.
One of the more important aspects of the project is to modify the ODBC Links to point to upgraded Oracle Database Tables. Up until today, all of the Links had been able to be remediated with a simple refresh and test.
This morning, however, it was determined that one of the Database Tables did not exist in the Schema. Instead, it was an Oracle Synonym for a Table that existed in a different Schema. We believe that we have the proper authorization for access to all of the Schemas involved, and despite this fact, MS Access was unable to link to the Table properly.
what is the difference between creating a table using SQL and creating a table using MAOL (access object library)? I ran into these 2 methods when taking a tutorial on the internet? What are the advantages of each method?
I am creating a table that is a master list of all of my company's product. Each "customer" that we have will always be ordering the same items, but not all of the items that we have available. I need a way to go through the master list and click a yes or no and have that item added to the "customer's list of items on a new table.
I need to create a sublist for each "customer" like individual shopping cats for each customer. These individual lists need to link back to the master list in case of product changes, description changes, and cost changes.
I would like to create a form where the end user can type in a product number, description, or manufacturer number and have that item added to the "customer's" list.
My Main Table in my Database is "Quotation", what do i need to do in order to create a new Main Table called "Quotation Tracker" and "Quotation" would now be under "Quotation Tracker"
I was told to save the query and check the new table had the required records in it.
I had huge problems when I tried to save the query and kept getting error messages like: "query must have at least one destination field" and "syntax error in field destination". This was strange since I was sure I typed the query exactly as it had been written on the worksheet.
Having not changed the SQL command at all it eventually worked when I skipped the 'save query" stage and just went to the "run query" stage. I still don't know why it actually worked in the end and why I kept getting error messages.By running the query am I supposed to just click on "RUN" or can I check the information first by looking at datasheet view?
I have a Client database table in Access. I now need to add a simple order table (related) to the client table. I have a client ID field set to autonumber in the client table. As I start to create the orders table I'm not sure how to link the two so that I'm not entering data twice and have assurance that they are tied together.
My application is a series of checklists, represented each by a table. They all have a common "Job ID" which is entered by the user in the first form/table. This "Job ID" is a common value with all other tables.
What I want, is that the user doesn't have to enter the "Job ID" every in every form. I just want him to enter it once in the first menu, and then it's copied automatically to all the other tables (creating a new record in each table).
I have what is probably a stupid question but I've been struggling with this one for a while. I have an ordering database which has an Orders table (containing Order ID, Date, Supplier etc) and an Order Line table within which I have a combo box for Product name, supplier, price, VAT rate, Line price etc. At the moment, I have the order line table as a subform within the Order form (run from the Orders table). The problem I'm having is the subtotal and total fields. At the moment these are in the Order Line table as I cannot figure out how to get these in the Orders table. In summary, can I make a calculated field in one table that calculates values from another table (linked by Order ID)?
