I have a form with information on it relating to several linked tables. I would like this information to be duplicated in the tables and a new autonumber assigned.
Is there a way that I can do this by clicking one button and the autonumber will automatically generate a new number keeping the rest of the information in the form and updating the tables with a new record?.
When I click on the command button to create a New Record and then type the customer details in the Main Form and the Order Details in the Subform, the information is not retained
i.e. when I close the Form and then re-open the Form the orders details are not saved but the customer details are.
When I re-enter the order details the information is retained this time, everything seems work ok second time round!!
i have been trying to create an employee database to record:
1. Name , Address 2. Telephone 3. Date of birth 4. employee ID# 5. Emergency contact -name, address, telephone 6. Photograph 7. Other pertinent information related to employees
So far I have incorporated the contacts database forms into my new database but I am unable to link the forms into one form that will incorporate all the information needed. Is there an existing employee database that I may edit to suit my purposes?
We have created a program with Access and we have all our records in it. We created a field and we need to find a way to have all our existing records use default information to automatically populate that field.
I'm trying to import information from an xls file into an Access database.. I understand how to use the File --> Get External Data --> Import option in Access, however I only have the option of importing the information into Sheet1, Sheet2 etc
I already have a table named Info1 which I want to import the information into
Can I use the append query to update a table by replacing all existing information with updated information while at the same time adding all data that isn't currently in the table?
Right now every time I run the Append Query it just adds the same information as a new row instead of replacing the existing row with the updated information.
I am not sure that I am in the Correct Section for this question but I am sure I can be forgiven for that :
I am attempting to build a db for a friend who has all his data in one table. During normalisation I have seperated the various threads of data into various tables of usable information. My problem is that I need to seperate his clients fullname into First & Surname i.e. Fullname: Mick Burke to FirstName: Mick and Surname: Burke - in other words make two fields from one.
Using access 2010; anyway to create an er diagram from an existing database? I have inherited a fairly large database and need to make changes to some field properties and need to find out where these fields are located. I know I can go into tools and run the documenter but doesn't give me an easy format to look at.
I was told to save the query and check the new table had the required records in it.
I had huge problems when I tried to save the query and kept getting error messages like: "query must have at least one destination field" and "syntax error in field destination". This was strange since I was sure I typed the query exactly as it had been written on the worksheet.
Having not changed the SQL command at all it eventually worked when I skipped the 'save query" stage and just went to the "run query" stage. I still don't know why it actually worked in the end and why I kept getting error messages.By running the query am I supposed to just click on "RUN" or can I check the information first by looking at datasheet view?
I have setup a simple access database consisting of 3 tables
Volunteer Id (PK) Name
Job Id (PK) JobName
Link Id (PK) VolunteerId (FK) JobId (FK)
There is a one to many relationship between Volunteer and Link and a many to one between Link and Job
I want to create a form from which I'll select a Volunteer Name and then choose a JobName from a list box of options and have it create an entry in link with the id of the volunteer selected and the id of the job selected
So let's say there are 5 entries currently in the Job Table.. let's call the JobNames A,B,C,D and E.
In my form I select my name from the list (sourced from volunteer.Name) and then select B from the dropdown. My desired result would be a single entry gets created in Link with VolunteerId = 1 (representing me) and JobId = 2 representing the selection of B. Problem that I am having is that after I select B in the dropdown it creates a new record for B in Job and the Link table gets updated with that JobId as opposed to simply using the one that was already in the table.
I need to create buyer and seller invoices within my access 2003 databases, my sister in law runs an antiques auction house and I'm working on a database to capture all their information.
I've created a 2 queries (a buyer invoice and seller invoice), show all unsettled items with the relevant item information and fee's.
However, I would like it to automatically allocate an invoice number, and store the information back to a table (seller and buyer ID, total number of items on the invoice, total fee etc)
I'd like store the invoices as well, so within the customer record form, I can include a box showing a list of the buyer invoices on one side and seller invoices in another (not all customers are buyers and sellers).
Once I've issued an invoice, can I automate it to show that item as then as invoiced?
Can the invoices be editable at all?
When they come in and settle their account, I also need to feed this information back in as well.
Can i arrange an invoice for seller's particularly, to show all sold items, and the fee's associated with them
Returned items as well as any associated fee's with them?
I have been looking at the Northwind example.
I see how they have an orders details table and orders table, I could replicate this.
I could have an Buyers Invoice table and Buyers Invoice Details table, but how do I generate an invoice, pull the next Invoice number from my (currently blank) invoice table, and pull in the outstanding items for that buyer for that specific auction date (I have a query), and then populate back information from the invoice?
I like the fact that their order form is editable, do any changes go back to the query, that then populate the invoice when you click print invoice?
I need to be able to (at the end of the auction) pull all items from my item log, for that buyer, and print them an invoice, automatically saving all the invoice details back into my database.
I need be able to automatically flag the items in my items table, as invoiced and pull the invoice number in?
I can see how all the Northwind tables, queries, and forms relate to each other and subforms, but I'm not sure how to actually create an invoice, get invoice number, merge with my query, and then feedback in.
is there anyway you can create one form which updates all the information in multiple tables. I need to create one of these to make the navigation of the database more easy, so if anybody could help me it would be much appreciated.
Hi! I'm a newbie and have very very basic understanding of Access...I'm running a small group of about 19 members that is expected to grow within the next two months to 11 more members...
I haven't been able to find a freeware club/membership database so having the fun of creating my own.
I used the "membership database" that microsoft offers and I figure out (very easily) how to do the page breaks, but I tried to add an option on the top of the form to goto page 3 and have access take my viewer to "page 3" of the form...
I've looked at the coding for page 1 and 2 that is already in place for the form where member info is enter, but it's just over my head and hoping someone can help me figure out how to build an event that when someone clicks on page 3, it will take the viewer to the "third page" of the form for additional information I hope to add.
I've been asked to get some information from my database and I'm a bit stuck.
I have a list of refunds in tbl_main and each one includes a dateReceived. I make a record in either tlk_located, tlk_unableToLocate or tlk_bulk depending on the outcome when we're trying to send the money back to whoever it belongs to. Each table has a time stamp (named locatedTime, unableTime and timestamp respectively) field
My manager wants me to report how many entries were unworked on each day in the year, and what the value of them was. An entry is unworked if there is no entry in either of the 3 tables.
So I need a query that lists a range of dates, and for each date counts the number of entries where tbl_main.dateReceived is <= to that date and either has no record in located, unable or bulk or has a record with a timestamp > than the date. (It has been processed now, but hadn't been on the date we are looking at)
I can manage a query that looks at a certain date that it prompts for on each run:
Code: SELECT Count(tbl_main.trust2PK) AS CountOftrust2PK, Sum(tbl_main.amountRefunded) AS SumOfamountRefunded FROM ((tbl_main LEFT JOIN tlk_located ON tbl_main.trust2PK = tlk_located.trust2FK) LEFT JOIN tlk_unableToLocate ON tbl_main.trust2PK = tlk_unableToLocate.trust2FK) LEFT JOIN tlk_bulk ON tbl_main.trust2PK = tlk_bulk.trust2FK WHERE (((tbl_main.dateReceived)<=[cutoffDate]) AND ((tlk_located.locatedTime) Is Null Or (tlk_located.locatedTime)>[cutOffDate]) AND ((tlk_unableToLocate.unableTime) Is Null Or (tlk_unableToLocate.unableTime)>[cutOffDate]) AND ((tlk_bulk.timeStamp) Is Null Or (tlk_bulk.timeStamp)>[cutOffDate]));
I would like a query that lists all dates in a range, and shows the same information for each day listed.
I have written the following code. I want to change the status of my order when reminaing products shipped is equal to zero. When I run this code I get error " Cannot update. Database or object is read only". I think that this error is because that I am using the front end of the database.
Code:
Private Sub Form_AfterUpdate() Dim dbs As DAO.Database Dim rstTest As DAO.Recordse Dim strQuery As Strin strQuery = "SELECT OrderingT.Order_ID, OrderingT.UnitsRequested,OrderingT.OrderStatus, ([UnitsRequested])-Count([Product_ID]) AS [The Remaining
I have the employee data record... I want copy of the same record to insert in table but with different employee id and Site through forms. StaffNo is the primary key.
I have a form set to the table Client Information with a subform set to the table Event Information. Client Information has a one to many relationship to Event Information.
There is a button that deletes the current record in Client Information--also deleting the related records in Event Information--then closes the form. The code works fine but a blank record in Event Information is apparently being created before the form closes.
Here's the VBA that I'm using:
Private Sub CmdDelReturn_Click() Dim CmdDelReturnMsg As String CmdDelReturnMsg = MsgBox("Delete event & client then return to front?", vbYesNo + vbDefaultButton1, "Delete and Return?")
[Code] ....
It's not a big deal because the button won't be used often and I can manually go into the table to delete the blank record. But if there's a simple solution to prevent this that would be nice.
I need to write a query which populates an empty field in the current record with information from a specific field in the next sequential record. Any ideas?
I have tblClasses, tblEmployees, and tblRegistrations. I have a registration form with EmpName and subformClasses, which allows me to register one employee for several classes at a time.
My registration form has an OK button. I need a message to appear (on btnOK click) before adding a new record to the registrations table that indicates if the employee has already had training for the one or more of the classes selected in the subform. Then the option to "Yes" add the record anyway, or "No" cancel the record.
I have everything working except, I can’t figure out how to do the comparison with the subform and generate my "Yes/No" option. I’m hoping that one of you wonderful access geniuses will have a relatively simple suggestion for me.
I have a TSQL procedure written which validates if a record already exists. It returns a 1 or a 0 depending on if it finds a valid record based off a supplied paramater (an application ID in this case, stored as Text(14)).
I want to accomplish the same thing but in a standalone Access DB where I don't have access to SQL stored procedures. Basically, here's what I have:
frmInputNew contains a text box txACAPS. When a user enters in a number in the txtACAPS field, and tabs out, I want an event to run which checks that string against a table. If the string exists within a field in the table, I want to break out and open a new form (which will be a dialog box). If it doesn't exist in the table, I want to end the code and let the user continue entering in data.
I'm not entirely sure how to check a table for a value via VB and return a flag that I can form an IF/ELSE statement from. Any help would be appreciated.
I have 2 forms, with a "PNID" field as the link between the 2. In the 2nd form, the PNID field allows no duplicates. I have a button on the first form to open the 2nd form to add a record.
I need some code to put on the button on the 1st form to check whether a PNID record exists on the 2nd form before opening it.......does this make sense? What is happening is that I click on the button, try and add a record, then it tells me one exists and I cannot add a duplicate...
I have looked at the threads, and have tried using DCount? Is this correct?
First Access 2013 form being created. (i may not use proper termonology but trying).
Tables: tbl_Clients (PK=clientID auto#)-holds details of each client (Lname/Fname/MName/addr/preferences etc) tbl_Encounters (PK=encounterID auto#)-could have many encounters for each client. tbl_followup (PK=followupID auto#)-some encounters need followup, some don't, some encounters have many followups.
Have a form linking to tbl_Client, with subform to tbl_encounters (going to create another form for followups-haven't got that far yet). I would like to try to avoid duplicate clients in the tbl_Client, so when the form is opened they could look for client if not there add new. However for the existing client if say the address changed i want them to be able to do that. (i could get rid of dups in a query/report based on matching certain fields etc, however i'd like to avoid it in the first place).
Hi all. Using Access 2003 I am trying to figure out how to print and collate a report and an existing pdf file that is opened based on a field in the record. I figure that it probably has to do with looping through the records but I am not very good at that. So I have a form with a sub form that opens records based on a combo box. I then have a report (a checklist sheet) that prints 1 page per record. I would like to print a pdf file associated to that record before it prints the next record.
Here are the names of the objects being used: tblMoveDoc frmMoveDoc subfrmMoveDoc rptCheckList
I'm having difficulty updating an existing record in my form. I can enter a docket number on my form and when i hit my button (Find Docket) it brings up all the customers info (name, date, invoice, vat, total, etc.) What i want to do then is be able to amend/update the record. Just wondering do i need to put vba code in my save button and how to code it and is it similar to my find data code below.
Here is my save function code:
Function SaveData() As Boolean Dim db As Database Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Set db = CurrentDb Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("Skips Delivered")
