I wanna know if it's possible to use an access 2002 form to create some controls(icons) on top of a picture (a map) so that i can click those icons to display some info. The trick part is that those icons positions are generated by x,y coordinates from the db itself. Plus a zooming control wold be a plus...
So what are your opinions on my little project.
Thank you all in advance.

Hi guys,
I would like to create text boxes using VBA code ....the reason is that I need a number of text boxes to be created that is equal to the number of rows that is generated by an SQL query.
Any suggestions?
Tnx!
Hello everybody,
Could anyone out there please help me with a small coding problem that I am experiencing....
I have a calculated control on my startup form called txtCurrentAge on which I have put VB code in the on-timer event of the form which makes the control 'flash on & off' if the persons age is below 18.
code as follows:
Private Sub Form_Timer()
If Me.txtCurrentAge.Value < 18 Then
Me.txtCurrentAge.Visible = Not Me.txtCurrentAge.Visible
Else
Me.txtCurrentAge.Visible = True
End If
End Sub
Everything works fine but when a user inadverently clicked on the control by mistake it caused the following error to be displayed: Runtime error 2165 "you cant hide the control that has the focus". What does this mean and how best could I prevent this from happening again as I cant guarantee that any of my users wont click on it again?? The text box concerned has been made 'visible', has not been 'locked' and is 'enabled'.
'
I find this 'flashing action' to be very useful and would like to keep it on my form....
I have searched on this site and various others but have been unsuccesful....
Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.
P.S I obtained this code via databasedev.co.uk and adapted it to suit my particular DB.
Best Regards

I want to disable in VBA (.enabled = false) a lot of controlls, depending of some conditions. Is it possible to group (and having an unique name)these controlls to disable them all together at the same time.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a form that has two text fields "Time From" and "Time To".
I can get the current time to show up with either =Date() or = Time(). Althought when I use Date() the time shows up correctly in the field until I click on the field to edit it and then it shows the Date instead of the time until I tab out o the field. But I want the user to be able to pick another time without having to type it in. Kind of like a list box but with a scroll that with either increase or decrease the time.
Also I am trying to get the "Time To" field to be 30 minute higher than the "Time From"
I have tried different things like DateAdd("n", 30, [TimeFrom]) and although it does add 30 minutes when I click in the field it shows the Date and time (3/6/2006 12:30:00 AM) and not just the Medium Time (12:30 AM) even though I have the Conrol and the table field formated to Medium Time.
I'm at a loss.
Dear All,
once again I need your help, I have no idea how to tackle the following problem. I am taking records of stock market transactions. As a final result I want to have a query which gives me for every end of the day the total value of my portfolio.
Therefore I have two tables. The first one, called tblTransactions with columns - among others - Date, Ticker, Quantity, Price does contain my transactions. The second one, called tblQuotes with columns Date, Ticker, LastPrice contains prices for each security traded for every day.
The following SQL code gives me the portfolio holdings with the respective LastPrices on an arbitrarily chosen date (03/09/07):
SELECT T.Ticker, sum(T.Qty) AS TotQty, Q.qCl AS [Last Price], (T.Qty*Q.qCl) AS [SubTotalValue]
FROM tblTransactions AS T INNER JOIN tblQuotes AS Q ON T.Ticker=Q.qTicker
WHERE T.Date<=#3/9/2007# And Q.qDate=#3/9/2007#
GROUP BY T.Ticker, Q.qCl, (T.Qty*Q.qCl)
HAVING sum(T.Qty) >0
ORDER BY T.Ticker;
This works so far. However, now I struggle with the next step. I want to have a query, which for each date (I could use the date column of tblQuotes) adds all SubTotalValues, i.e. gives me the total value of my portfolio for each day.
Could you give me please some hints on how to proceed from here? I would be very pleased if somebody could help me with that question.
Best regards

Hi all,
was wondering if there was a simple way out there, or if someone could give me some ideas on how to use an admin function to either approve or deny a users time and tasks... this wouldnt neccesarily have to a be a daily function... but i would like to have this done before the end of a pay period(2 weeks).
i feel like this could be as simple as using a check box to show approval, but i wouldnt know how to have the users submission go into a place where the admin could view to approve or deny.. has anyone seen something like this done before?
thanks in advance
I need a query run that brings up a list of customers that need maintence after 6 months after their last maintence service. As soon as you open the DB, the event/query runs and if there are any customers past due to display them. And if there are none, to not even show the query at all.
I have very little experience with timers and if/then statements and don't know how to set this up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I am trying to do has to be done in a table and without the use of forms (becasue its what works for us) in Access 2007. I have a table where my staff records a number of different data fields for accounts. I currently have a 3 table relationship established. One of these table is our "Notes" table. My staff enters continuous notes for different accounts as new information come in.
What I have done is set my "date" field's default value to "now()" which accomplishes the time-stamp I need, but at the same time as soon as they type anything in another field in that row Access creates another row which is unwanted. follow up how can I go about also having a field that auto fills w/ the user's name/ID?
I have a rental database and I print several contacts for leases etc. what I want to do is have a unique reference number or something inserted to the report every time that it's printed. What I am trying to achieve is to keep track of which tenant corresponds to the report (Lease) printed by using reference number.
There is a seperate form which holds the tenants details and I would like to have a field on that form which would show the same reference number as the report so I can track which report was printed for who.
Whats the best/easiest way to accomplish this?
I have an application with a backend db on PC 1, and the same application on PC 2 linked to the backend db on PC 1 via the network.
The link works fine but the time formats are different.
On PC 1 the time format is shortime and displays as it should i.e. in 24 hour clock format
However on PC 2, opening the same database via the network, the time format is still shorttime but when you read the time within the code it comes out in AM/PM format. Also, when the defaul tiem should be #20:00:00# but this changes to #8:00:00 PM#
Weirdly though, when you just open the table, the times are in the correct shorttime format.
Guessing, it must be a setting within the main core of Access 2003 that is different between the 2 instances?
Any ideas?
This screen shot may help:

I am creating a database for creating quotations. The quotation number is generated using the date, for example the first quote today would be quote number "05202015-1" because it is the first one today. The next quote today would be quote number "05202015-2" and so on. Is there a way to make access automatically generate these quote numbers based on the date?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a database that stores information for lab testing. Each time a tech does a "step" in the test process he logs it in the table, using an input form. There are different categories, for example preparation, testing, analysis, etc, and each of those steps take time. I have the form autopopulate the date and time with NOW() evertime the form is updated. What i want to do is calculate the time it takes to do each in days. I can easily get how many days it was from now since they logged the test, =NOW()-TestDateTime. What I want to do is get the number of days it took to do each step, ie the number of days between each event. Is there a way to do this?

Formatting issue regarding elapsed time calculated using DateDiff().
I understand that you can specify the output value for DateDiff(). In my case I have chosen "n" for minutes. Each result in my query shows the correct calculation in terms of minutes.
[PunchIn] = 11/23/2013 8:11:28 AM
[PunchOut] = 11/23/2013 5:43:30 PM
[ShiftLength] =DateDiff("n", [PunchIn],[PunchOut]) = 572 minutes.
Now when I try to format the result in terms of H:MM (be it in a form or a report) I get varied results. I'll illustrate an example below:
=Format(([ShiftLength]/60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 10.32 Not correct
=Format(([ShiftLength]60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 9.32 This is correct but I need my result to be in the form of a decimal such as my next example
=([ShiftLength]/60) Returns 9.53333333. Getting there but how do I have this result only show two decimal points 9.53?
I have a date/time text field on a form with the General Date format and a combo box next to it that has sequencial times as the row source (IE. 12:45 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:15 AM, 1:30 AM, ETC.) When the user chooses a time in the combo box, I want the time portion of the text box to be updated with the chosen time in the combo. I have tried a few things but cant seem to get it right.

I have successfully used the DateDiff function and converted the minutes to HH:MM on my form and reports. Now I want to calculate elapsed time for a specific period within a shift, I'll call it OtherHours and I am aiming to calculate a portion of time that meet the following conditions below. I am using field names of [PunchIn] and [PunchOut] and both are of type General Date.
IF [PunchOut] ISNOT Saturday,Sunday
EXIT FUNCTION
ELSE
IF [PunchOut] ISNOT Between Midnight and 0559 hours
EXIT FUNCTION
ELSE
DATEDIFF ("n", <MIDNIGHT>, [PunchOut])
My thoughts are to solve the DateDiff portion and then figure out how to apply the conditions within the IF statements.
I have a database consisting of two tables. One is "articles" and the other is "tasks". To put it simply, I would like to find how much time the article spends in tasks, but one article can have many tasks, and they often (but not always) overlap. Tasks have a start and end date field.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHi,
Wonder if someone can help please. I'm quite new to Access so please bear with me.
I have a data field in my database consisting of both a date and time.
I then have a form containing two fields where the user can type a 'To' and 'From' date to extract the records that they are interested in. The query behind this uses the 'Between[Enter The Date] And [Enter The Date]' coding.
The problem is that because the field contains a time it doesn't return any records when I run the query.
Can anyone offer a bit of guidance on how I could ignore the time part of the field perhaps by adapting the above.
Many thanks
Chris
Hi all, I havent' been around in a while (toddler, work, getting my BS degree and new baby coming in a week and a half) so I am hopefully not asking a previously posted question.
I'm suspecting my new work isn't accurately paying for the hours worked. I made a quick simple DB where I input my punch times in short time format. There's the typical In, Out for Lunch, In from Lunch, and Out. I've got it correctly adding the times so that it reports the total hours worked per day, though, in order for it to display correctly, that total is in short time as well.
The problem is, when I group a week together, as soon as the sum of the totals reaches 24 or more, it goes back to 0, as it's on the idea that there's only 24 hours in a day.
Hopefully, it's just a formatting issue or is there a function to convert the times (or just the sum) to number of hours?
Thanks and Happy New Year to all.

I am trying to create an Access database where I can let the employees enter their time-in and time-out, at the end of their shift. I already created this function working, but running into another issue. Everyday, employees need to enter a break. Sometimes they take a break and sometimes they don't, if they work shorter hours. Thus, the break is not a default 30min and has to be enterd by the employee.
Below is the code I have to calculate the total hour:
txtCalcTime has the below code in control source:
=Int([CalcTime]/60) & ":" & Int([CalcTime] Mod 60)
Control source for this form "FrmTimes" property, in which Txtcalctime resides:
QryTimes
"QryTimes" query has the code below:
SELECT TimeID, TimeIn, TimeOut, Brake, DateID, DateDiff("n",[TimeIn],[TimeOut]) AS CalcTime
FROM EmpTimes;
This shows the total number of hours worked. But how can I make it to substract the break time entered by the employee in "txtbreak" on FrmTimes
I have finger print machine and i already connect to it and get all log.then i tray to get data and here is the code that im using
SELECT Format(CHECKINOUT.CHECKTIME,"dd/mm/yyyy") AS CDate, IIf([CHECKINOUT.CHECKTYPE]=I,Format(CHECKINOUT.CHECKTIME,"hh:nn:ss ampm")) AS StartTime, Format(CHECKINOUT.CHECKTIME,"hh:nn:ss ampm") AS EndTime, USERINFO.USERID, USERINFO.Name, CHECKINOUT.CHECKTYPE
FROM CHECKINOUT INNER JOIN USERINFO ON CHECKINOUT.USERID=USERINFO.USERID
WHERE (((Format([CHECKINOUT].[CHECKTIME],"dd/mm/yyyy"))='10/04/2014'));
how i get end time due to CHECKTYPE]=O
