Custom Toolbar In Access 2007
Mar 27, 2007
Just recently updated to 2007 and found something I would like to adjust.... But can't find out how, or if I can.
I have a DB done in Access xp, it has a custom toolbar. Well, works fine in 2002,2003... but when I open the DB in 2007 first, I have to click "Add ins" to even get it to appear and then it is WAY too big! It is only about 5 small items...A-z, Z-a, "Lightning bolt" for filter on, and "filter off" but the height is the same as the other "Ribbon". Is there a way to adjust the appearance? AND make it visible when the DB opens?
Thanks

HI all, I have recently created my own custom toolbar for my database which works fine on my computer, but when the database is transfered to another computer via a memory stick (needs to be done as it is going to be used on remote laptops away from the main network), the custom toolbar does not carry over. Instead of the custom toolbar being shown, the normal, main toolbars are reset to the default ones shown.
Is there a way of stopping the toolbars reseting when transfering the database so that my custom toolbar is the default toolbar?
Thanks for the help!

I have a custom toolbar in my application. However, it isn't visible at the top of the application window and when I try to make it so - via View - Toolbars - it doesn't appear on the list of available bars.
I had assumed that I had somehow deleted it, but I know it's still present somewhere, as when I try to recreate it, I get a message saying so.
How can I get the toolbar to be displayed?

Hi folks:
when I create a custom toolbar on my db, would that custom toolbar be carried to other copies of my db? I'm hiding all toolbars using code and I need to display only one.
thanks

Hi all,
I'd like to create a custom toolbar where each button would call the same generic module function, passing it a parameter.
I see how to create the toolbar, but I can't figure out how to call my function and how to pass it parameters.
Also, I can't find any explaination on what this "Parameter" box of the Custom Toolbar is. I thought that would pass parameter to the command in the "on action" but I can't seem to be able to retreive it...
Any help appreciated,
Jerome

I have created a menu bar in access 2003 and I have spent the last couple of hours designing icons in photoshop, however, when i come to import these icons to use on the menu bar I can't see anywhere to do so, only a button editor that isn't much use to me.
Is it not possible to import icons in this way (like you can for command buttons on forms)?
Thanks for any help

I wrote a custom ActiveX Control in C#.NET using a guide (Google ".net activex control step by step", first link on CodeProject). The control is compiled as a .dll and registered in Access 2007.
When I place the ActiveX control on a Form or Report, I can call its methods from VBA and see its output just fine.
When I open a Print Preview, only the top left corner of the control is shown, the rest is a blank white box. This does not happen with built-in ActiveX Controls (e.g. Calendar control), which print as they should.
I also tried a basic ActiveX Control build using VC++ (the sample control created by the MFC wizard), and that displays and prints correctly.

Hi.
I have a widely used application in Access 97.
Anyway, some staff are not using the forms' menu buttons but are playing around with the Access toolbar (file, edit, et cetera).
The administrator wants me to either disable that toolbar or hid eit from view. Any ideas?

I am currently using the code
Code:
<customUI
xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2009/07/customui">
<ribbon startFromScratch="True">
[Code]...
To remove the file button from access. however the more commands button in the quick access toolbar renders this method pointless unless i can remove the more commands button. How to remove the "customise quick access" button or failing that how to remove the more commands button?

On trying to import an Excel 2007 file into Access 2007 I get the following:
1) Choose "External Data," Import, Exce
2) Select small file in MS Excel 2007 format.
3) Click on Import the source data into a new table ...
4) Choose OK
Immediately get "Microsoft Office Access has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." This message never resolves, so I have to click 'Cancel'.
Then I get "Microsoft Office Access is trying to recover your information..." I have to click "Cancel" here as well and then kill MS Access in Task Manager.
Event Viewer gives following message, which is of no help:
"ID: 2, Application Name: Microsoft Office Access, Application Version: 12.0.6211.1000, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.6215.1000. This session lasted 710 seconds with 120 seconds of active time. This session ended with a crash."
Trying to import a small Excel 2003 file leads the same result. The same happens with a CSV file.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2007 as well. I am using Vista Ultimate.
I have turned off DEP.
How can I get MS Access 2007 to import Excel?
Thanks
Ken

I installed Office Enterprise 2007. Then I installed DEveloper Exrtensions, then Access Runtime 2007. All appear to have installed OK - they appear in Program and Features.
Instructions on runtime packaging tell me that a Developer option should appear in the resulting drop-down when I click the Office button (top-left round thing) when I have a d/b open in Access. It's not there! I have un-installed and re-installed the extensions and the runtime - still nothing!
Help!
I do have Runtime 2002 (XP) on the same PC, is that relevant?

Attached is a screenshot of the relationships in a database I built a couple of years ago. It's worked absolutely fine in Access 2003 and currently has over 18,000 customers with associated information in it.
However, when I open the database in Access 2007 the performance is awful. All the forms are very slow to respond when tabbing between form elements. I've experimented by reducing the number of form elements calling on related data on a given page and whilst this improves performance it reduces usability - something I don't want to compromise on especially since Access 2007 should be able to cope with this.
My next question is therefore whether I've got the most efficient underlying table design and I can't see any other way of doing it than my current method so I'd be grateful for any feedback or advice anyone has.

Hi All,
Background Info: I developed our main department's Access 2003 split database which is on a server for 15+ Users. I've now been given Access 2007 for development -- Users still have 2003. There are also 2 other smaller databases that are not split (.mdb).
Problem: In the split database, I've saved the Application .mdb as 2003, relinked and made a new .mde. But the Users still cannot open the database. (I did this in a copy until I figure out the nuances with 2007.) The 2 other unsplit databases can be saved as 2003 version and Users can open OK.
I'm grateful for any suggestions on working with Access 2007. I've been trying to tackle the ribbon which is a whole other question.

Having a problem here after installing 2007. All my previously created databases work fine in 2007 (after clicking the enable, which is a pain, but don't know any other way) When I return to 2002 and try to open the databases I get different errors all something like this on....... "The expression On Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events. Whats up here?????I have found a site here...http://allenbrowne.com/bug-17.htmlMentions this problem, but refers to Vista..... Does the same apply to XP? And which is the best fix?

I am working on a project where I need to upload selected data from multiple sheets of an excel file. Here is an example of what I want.
1. I want to create a table in Access with around 10 columns
2. Column 1 should be populated with the date field found in A2 cell of sheet 1 of the excel file
3. Column 2-5 should be populated with the columns B2-E200 in sheet 2 of the excel file.
4. Columns 6-7 would be populated based on values from columns 1-2 of the table. Basically Column 6 should be Column 1 date plus 60 days.
5. Column 8-10 would be user generated after the excel is imported and the user should have the ability to attach around 5 files to each row.

I was wondering if it is possible to create custom security permissions in access. For example I have created an employee database, with security. I would like to have it when a manager logs on, it will only display his employee's information and no other departments. Is this possible?? In one of the tables is a field for the department the employee works on, can it based off of a table field?

I have created a database in Access 2007 that now works well, and one that I'm quite proud off. However, I can easily convert it to an Access 2000 format as can anyone else here, but when I load it up there is a major problem.
I have used the tab control in my main form and that has three tabs on it. However, it's positioned correctly in Access 2007 it's not positioned correctly in Access 2000 as I have to move the tab control down a bit, but that would seem fine. So I lowered the tab control form and changed my form layout slightly, but even then the tab control over all over the Access 2000 form whenever I interact with the tabs - most bizzare.
Any help? Thanks.

For keeping record of provient fund, I have made a access/(or excel) database with many fields like ID, Name, contribution for months eg March, April,..to..,Feb,etc.It contains 50 records.
Now I have to print the provident fund statements of my 50 friends. This statement consists of some text language and some data(It is a word form letter document). The statement also shows some data which has to be calculated from the data of database eg grand total, cumulative total, interests etc.
Now I want to print the statement for all or selected no of people. What I want is to make the statement proforma in another excel sheet and then merge and print the statements for selected no of persons eg for ID 1 to 20, 50 to 70 etc. I do not want to make statement in MS word and do not want to merge it there, but I want to do it in excel just as we do in MS word mail merge.
Pl help me how can I do it in access/Excel? Can i calculate in word or should I calculate before hand in access before merging data?
