DCount Multiples - Replacement Check
Jan 30, 2012
Is there a way to DCount Multiples?
=DCount("*","[Personnel Information]","[prp-requires replacement] = -1"&"[PRP Position Status]='Certified' or 'postured to PRP position'")
is what I got and obviously having issues with. I basically want to count who has prp requires replacement check that are currently certified or postured.

Table is named tblLVR
Field is BusinessName
I want to check the previous existence of this name in the table.
I assign a variable tBusVar to the entered name on it's changed event
and write the following code to see if it is already in:-
If DCount("[BusinessName]", "tblLVR", "[BusinessName] = " & tBusVar) > 0 Then
MsgBox "This current record is a Duplicate"
End If
Run_time Error :'2471' : The expression passed as a query parameter produced this error '<Name entered>'

Hello,
If somebody mistakenly replaced a database, is there a way to get it back? The database was created with Access 2000 and the OS is XP.
Thanks,

Hi:
In MS Access:
Can MS Access send multiple files?
eg.
file 1 => send to a@hotmail.com
file 2 => send to b@hotmail.com
file 3 => send to c@hotmail.com
file 4 => send to d@hotmail.com
file 5 => send to e@hotmail.com
send them at the same time, but different address. Can they do that?
I think that it cannot be done this way, right.
I think that it only send a file at a time, right.
Please let me know. Thanks.
Thanks.

We have a query that pulls information from four tables. What we need to do is do a query or something else to pull the data from the existing query into a table/excel file. The problem we are having is that we want just one record for each person with all of their class selections in one field. Is this doable?

How would I go about printing multiple pages of a certain page in a report. My goal is to get them to collate together. Please see example below:
I have 7 operation codes (A-G), but I need multiple copies of each within a set:
Below is how I would like to print it out:
A, A, B, C, D, D, A, E F, G
Also, not sure if it matters, but the report has a subreport to print the appropriate rework code on the back of every sheet (2 sided printing)
This will be the same every time, and I have made a tbl in the db with the order I require.

I have an Inventory database with 2 tables. Here is a simplified version of both tables:
First Table is Inventory:
Fields are
ID
Description
PackSize
PackCost
Second table is PriceHistory:
Fields are
ID
InventoryID
Date
PackCost
Fields are joined, one to many (one inventory record can have many prices in its history). ID in the inventory table is joined to InventoryID in the PriceHistory table.
The problem comes when I am browsing records in FORM VIEW of the inventory table:
As I page through the inventory records, I often see the same record multiple times (once for each entry in the pricehistory table).
For example, if the item POTATOES in the Inventory table has had it's price updated 3 times (3 entries in the PriceHistory) table, then I see the Potatoes record 3 times as I am browsing.
I only want to see this record once (with the latest price) when I am browsing the Inventory table in form view.

Dim db As Database
Dim data As Recordset

Is there a good replacement for the use of local forms in an Access database? We have a large A97 replicated database application that we are trying to update. We use local forms for data output. Since these are no longer available we are looking for a workaround.

a couple of months ago i found a celndar control replacement that Microsoft kindly provided. i have made a few mods that allow me to change the day/week etc. i would now like to tell it to open on a certain date. the reason is that on each of my client records i have 'Future Appointments'. i would like to be able to select a future appointment and click a button that then opens a form that includes the calendar and go to the date of the future appointment. the calendar controls the diary. whatever date the calendar is on the diary matches. so to change to the date of the appointment i need to change the calendar date.
i tried the obvious first.
[Forms]![frmDiaryMultiView]![frmCalendar].Value=#01/01/2012#
that didnt work as the calendar does not seem to recognise it.
i am totally lost with this as i dont even understand most of the code that is behind the calendar, so i dont know what i am looking for to use to open it on a given date.

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I'm in need a of a check-in/check-out application for my company. We have about 550-600 employees at any given time and our turnover is about 20-30% per year. Our check-in/check-out process requires our employees to personally visit between 30-40 areas in our company (personnel, safety, credentials, parking, insurance, etc) within the first month of employment. This is currently done manually and is a huge drain on labor, especially when check-in sheets are lost, misplaced or, in some cases, forged.
I'm looking to build a database that would be intranet based, password secure (by check-in area) that would allow the new employee to present at a particular check-in, check-out site, complete that portion of the check-in/out process and then allow the person responsible for the check-in/out to enter the status into the database. At any point in the process, I would want to know the status of the person checking in/out (how long they've been checking in/out and what portion of the process have they completed).
Can this be done in ACCESS?
Thanks

Was wondering if someone could possibly help me with a DCount problem i'm having.
I have a form with a subform, displaying bookings that customer has made. What i want to be able to do, is when a booking is created for a customer in this subform, after the time period chosen is selected, i want a DCount to run, go to a table of regular bookings, count up how many bookings in it have the date of booking, that same as the date just put into the subform, AND the time period of booking the same as just put into the subform. There can only be 1 result at max due to its setup, and from there it should be fine, but i cannot get it to work. The field names are as follow:
Subform:
Date for Booking
Time Period
tblRegularBookings
Date For
Time Period
If this doesn't make any sense i can try and explain better.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks very much in advance

I have only been using access for about 3 weeks now, and its kicking my butt pretty hard.
Im making a query that does all kinds of math junk in it. I want to be able to find the number of occurrences of x in another column in the table.
For a better example, lets say I have a column named "SP" in the "compiled" table, the values of this column range from 1 to 5, in about 200 entries. So there is another column in the compiled table called "SPX", which has the same value range. So if I am looking at the one entry in the table, I want to take its value in the "SPX" column, and see how many times it shows up in the "SP" column.
I have been trying to get dcount to do this, but I cant seem to get it to work... Must have tried a dozen ways now.
Any help would be awesome, thank you.

My main table is called NEWcompiled, I have fields named "faction", "SPeffect", and "Launcher_ID". I am trying to use Dcount in a query to count up how many entries have a value in "faction" and "SPeffect" that are equal, and a value of "yes" in "Launcher_ID".
Currently my code looks like this:
DCount("Faction","NEWcompiled","Faction = '" & [SPEffect] & "'" And "Launcher_ID = yes")
This indeed counts how many entries have equal values for "faction" and "SPeffect", but then it seems to add that to sum of all the entries that have a yes for "Launcher_id".
Any help would be great, thank you for your time.

I've looked at numerous threads on this site and still can't get a dcount to work.
I want the database to check if there is a valid reference number entered before opening a form.
There is a table called 'staff' with a 'payroll number' field in it. This table contains all staff.
I then want the user to enter a payroll number and retrieve the corresponding record. However, if there is no match then the user has entered the number incorrectly.
I've done:
int2=dcount("[payroll number]","staff",forms!control,payroll) and then an:
if int2=0 then msgbox
end if
exit sub
However, I either now get a message when the number is correct, or it's exitting the sub every time.
Any corrections please?

What I want is for DCount to see how many times a a Box# appears in a table, if it is 0 it puts a message up that the box does not exist.
This is what I have as the code
If DCount("[tblLockbox]![LockboxNo]", "[tblLockbox]", "[tblLockbox]![LockboxNo]=" & Me.[txtGLockbox]) = 0 Then
MsgBox "Lockbox not Found! Please try again.", vbCritical
Me!txtGLockbox.SetFocus
End If
tblLockbox is the table that contains all the lockbox numbers and the names they relate too.
LockboxNo is the field that holds the Box#. I have the field set as a Text because no calculations are done with these values.
txtGLockbox: is the field on the form where they enter the Box#
The problem is I keep getting a data type mismatch in criteria expression.
I thought DCount took a count and returned a value, so it shouldn't matter what data type the field in question is.
We are using it in another area where the field in question is a number.
I hope this makes sense.

I've been back thru this DCount function, here in the forum and elsewhere. I have posted about this function before and even went back to my old post. Looks like I still need some help.
Here's the premise:
My database has a query that tracks Payments made to Students who are on the Federal Work-Study program. We have 4 categories of work: On-Campus; Off-Campus Community Service; Off-Campus Family Literacy; College Support Services.
Of all payments made to students in the year for Federal Work-Study, there are some payments in each category. On the Report, based on the query "FISAP Detail Query", programmed to show every disbursement(payment), I'd like a count of each type in the Report Footer .
I have a control on the report that I'd like to use to count the number of students paid for Community Service.
=DCount("[StudentID]","FISAP Detail Query","[Community Service Amount]>0")
and I've tried
=DCount("[StudentID]","FISAP Detail Query","[Community Service Amount]>'0'")
Count the number of students listed in the FISAP Detail Query who have a [Comunity Service Amount} greater than zero. Sum totals of disbursements for the year for each student are displayed in the Detail section of the report as a single record. So how many of these records have Commuity Service disbursements; that's what I'd like to know.
The formula returns #Error.
Anybody have any advice for fixing this? It must be some syntax or trying to use the wrong function to do the job.
Any help will be very much appreciated
Cheers!
Goh
