Single Data Form Put Data Into Separate Specific Tables

Jan 9, 2012

I am new to Microsoft Access. I have built two entry forms for product release information. I have a drop box under the label customer for each specific customer. I would like for this form to send the data entered in the form to the customer specific table from the customer names in the drop box. I have tried to research and execute this myself thus have been very unsuccessful.

Tables :: Appending Data From Different Tables Into A Form

I have 3 separate tables with the following fields: Year; Name of School; Emis No. (Primary Key); No. wrote; No. passed; Pass %. These tables were created in Excel and imported in Access.

I would like to do the following (see table below): 1. create a form that would allow me to view all the data per school in datasheet view and also allow me to enter new data annually; 2. create a new table where this information can be stored

Use One Form To Add Data To Two Related Tables

Jul 24, 2006

I need help. I am not sure if this is a form issue or a logic issue i have a db for tracking students the classes they take and their notetakers for classes. Each class is most likely unique to each student but sometime there are multiple students in each class that need a notetaker and there should only be one notetaker per class. I have 3 tables and they are all linked through a unique iD called CRN (number).

I am looking for a way to add a student to a class and create a class at the same time in one form. I am trying to limit the redunancy by adding a class each time and then adding a student to the class.

Any suggestions would be great. I have gone through 10+ redesign and am just at a loss on how to accomplish this.

Help With Saving Form Data To Tables

Jan 24, 2007

Hello,

I have a form with only 2 fields. One field is a drop down (Yes, No, N/A). The other field reads the first field and then assigns a value using an IIF statement (If No, then 0, otherwise 1).

I want to run a query on this data, but when I do, the 2nd field's result doesn't appear in the query (nor the main table).

How do I save/record the result from the 2nd field in the form to the table?

Data Entry Form - Multiple Tables?

Aug 18, 2006

I have been trying to figure this one out for a while and I can't seem to find anything helpful. I'm going to present a simplified version of my problem to help keep it simple.

I have an "Activities" table that contains fields:
ActivityID
ActivityName

I have a table of 7 Risk areas which contains fields:
RiskID
RiskName

What I need to do is to create a form that will allow the user to select an activity and then, for each of the 7 risk areas, input a risk measurement.

This involves the creation of a 3rd table to collect the user input which would contain fields:

MeasurementID
RiskMeasurement
ActivityID
RiskID

I can do a dropdown of the Activities and have a subform that links to it but the problem I'm having is trying to get that subform to list the 7 Risk Areas AND collect the RiskMeasurement information from the user. How can I have a listing of these 7 areas from one table that are tied to inputs that go into another table? This seems so basic and simple yet I have tried numerous things and all have failed.

I hope this was clear. Any help is appreciated.

Data From Multiple Tables On Single Form

Oct 14, 2004

I have a tabbed form that contains multiple rows of data just like the following: (it's a service checklist for a store where the user makes choices from the combo boxes: e.g. good, fair, poor, etc)

Paint (txtHrs), Action (cboPaintAction), Condition (cboPaintCondition)
Carpet (txtCarpetHrs), Action (cboCarpetAction), Condition (cboCarpetCondition)
Counter (txtCounterHrs), Action (cboCounterAction), Condition (cboCounterCondition)
etc.

Since the combo boxes describe data that relates only to that element I can't put all the data needed into a single table. There are 40 of these rows so does that mean I have to create 40 tables? If so, how do I add the data to them from the form? Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated!

Merging Data From Multiple Tables Into One Via A Form

Nov 2, 2004

Hi all, I'm not an Access programmer by trade, but unfortunately got handed a project that nobody else wanted.

I have a small database taking shape which will track the auditing of paperwork/files. Each file has a unique ID associated with it, in this case, an account number. Audits will take place by selecting the job area (department), then the type of file (Line, Loan, Increase). This will be used to sort which type of audit questions are asked.

I have the following tables created:

tblQuestions: ID, Question, Product question applies to, Function question applies to, Comment field, and result field.
tblTeamMember: MemberID, TeamMember, Manager, PrimaryFunction
tblAuditResult: AuditID, MemberID, AccountNumber, Question, Result, Comment, Date of Audit
tblProduct: List of product types (line, loan, increase)
tblFunction: list of job functions

Currently a form is displayed so the manager can select the job function, then the file type. This will display:

frmAuditCreate - this form contains the fields: txtAccount, cmbManager, cmbTeamMember, txtAuditDate
Sub form on frmAuditCreate - frmQuestionSub - this form contains the fields: Question, Comment, Result

The frmQuestionSub is built off a query which uses the function and product values to determine which questions to filter and display.

Now, once the user is done flipping through each question in the sub form and input the data into the comment and result field associated with that question, I need that information along with the information on the frmAuditCreate to be stored in the table tblAuditResult. This is the problem I'm having difficulty with. I can't find a way to copy the question, comment, and result and insert it into the same record as the rest of the data.

Unfortunatlly I can't strip the database down enough to meet the 100k or less attachment limit.

Data Input Form From Multiple Tables

Nov 4, 2004

Hi, I have a big problem. Here is the business rule, I am trying to track meeging request(MR) made. A meeting request is made by a manager,MR can include many analysts, and MR involves 1 project. I need to generate several reports from the MR information so I am trying to make sure the info is inputed correctly. I am trying to creat an input form for the MR table (tblMR) The input form is going to contain all the fields from the tblMR except the manager_ID and and the Project_ID, I am also going to have it track which analysts attended the meeting(1 or more). The problem I am having is in creating the form but having the analyst, manager, project values come from their own tables but after selecting them through combo box or list box, for values of Manager_ID and Project_ID to be entered in the tblMR. And for the analyst involved to be stored in a a composit table called tblMR-Analyst. this table will help me track how many meeting each analyst has been to. Any suggestions will help.

Inserting Data From Two Tables Into Another Table Using A Form

Oct 22, 2007

I am new to access (using Access 2003) and am having trouble working with forms. Here's what I want my form to do:

-Use a combo box to select a specific system
-Given the selected system, pull up ID numbers and descriptions (in separate text boxes) from two separate tables corresponding to that one system
-Navigate through those ID numbers/descriptions from each table independently to find ones that match
-Store the ID numbers of the ones that match into another linking table

The biggest problem right now is being able to navigate through the different table ID numbers/descriptions and add both ID numbers to a row in a different table. I've tried using a combo box with the INSERT INTO statement into the code builder, but I keep getting syntax errors.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a better way to do this?

Thanks!

Queries :: Display Data From 2 Different Tables In One Form

Apr 21, 2013

I currently have two different excel spreadsheets linked to access 2003. The first few columns are very similar with similar headings. What i have now is a form displaying the data from one spread sheet (Engine Status), and another form displaying the data from the other (Engine Health).

As I am very new to access is there a way that i can link the two spreadsheets together and display all the data on one single form. I would like a combo box to find the required serial number (tail number) and once the serial number is selected the data from both spreadsheets will be displayed.

The spreadsheets i have to work with are of set standard for ease to input data from numerous other sources. I have attached examples of the two spreadsheets with the headings that are the same between the two although i have attached these to a single work book in reality they are seperate work books.

What i would like is for a combo box to display the Tail number then have single boxes to display core serial numbers across the form in order of position, then all the other data associated with that core serial number displayed in seperate boxes below the core serial number. I hope this is possible as it will prevent a lot of toggling between forms.

General :: Adding New Data Into Tables (via Form)

Jan 31, 2013

I have 2 tables.

Table one is for person ID
Table two is for number of absences

I created a one-to-many relationship with the update/delete option selected. It didn't work when I wanted to add new data into the tables (via form). Then I tried a many-to-many relationship (with a third table) but it doesn't seem logical to do so, as I only need to add particular data into one table, but need a field from the 1st to differentiate records.

(table 1 = one record per person, table 2 = multiple records for 1 person)

Entering Data In A Form - Update Autonumber On Two Tables?

Jul 19, 2006

Hello,

My first post is on something that is troubling me. I have a Form acting as the display and entry point for data for a contact list, which is composed of two Tables as follows:

Contact - (text fields including: first name, last name, phone number home, phone number work, etc)

Industry Role - (yes/no tick boxes including: film, photographer, audio engineer, producer, reporter, etc)

The two Tables have a one to one relationship based on the URN field which is an autonumber. My problem is that when someone enters say a name, and then ticks a box, the autonumber will add two entries because it seems to see the first table then the second tables as sequential, and not the same thing. How do i go about making a form that can enter new records the same autonumber for two connected Tables?

Forms :: Entering Data Into Related Tables Using A Form

Sep 12, 2013

I have a form within my database in which the user will enter data which will go into 2 separate tables. These 2 tables (Job and Client) are related. At the moment I have a subform in which the user enters Job information, and the main form where the user will enter client information.

The problem being is that the 2 sets of data do not associate themselves with each other, despite being related (The Client will be related to a job number. A client can have many jobs but a job can only have one client etc). It has to be done manually in the table which is not ideal as the DB will be split and rolled out to users via Access Runtime. I have been working on this DB for a while now and the problem is most likely right in front of me but I cannot see it!

Forms :: Assemble Data From 3 Tables And A Form To A New Record

Sep 13, 2013

My DB tracks sponsors for a non-profit organization. Demographics, sponsorship levels, tickets to events, payments, members who recruited sponsors, etc.

I have a form EditSponsors which opens from a query that draws from 3 tables SponsorshipDemographics (PK SponsorID), SponsorshipLevels (PK SponsorLevelID)and Members (PK MemberID).

I have placed a command button on the form that opens a new form PostPayment which is intended to post a payment and make the necessary changes to the sponsor’s profile.

I want to load the new entered data form PostPayment with selected fields from EditSponsors, then create a new record in the table Payments that looks like this:

PaymentID (PK, Auto)
SponsorID
SponsorLevelID
MemberID
Check#, CheckDate, PostDate, Amount (data entry)

My Problem: The 3 PK’s from the other tables do not get entered into the new record in Payments.

Forms :: Using A Form To Enter Data Across Related Tables

Mar 3, 2014

I have a database I made to store a list of users and information about each user.

I have a UserDetail table, languages table, previous experience table, current experience table.

UserDetail table as follows:
UserID (PK)
First Name
Last Name
Full Name (calculated)
Department (using a multi select combo box. There are 3 departments and some people are in both).

I need to do the same thing on each table and each table is very similar so I'll just list one. This is the Previous Experience table:

PreviousXPID (PK)
Previous experience (e.g. IT, Marketing, Chemistry)

I have three junction tables. One for each Previous Experience, current experience and language table. The Previous experience junction table has:

ID (PK)
UserID
PreviousXPID

I created a relationship between the userdetail table and the junction table then the junction table to the Previous Experience table.

Now what I'd like to be able to do is edit people to add previous experience, current experience and languages to each. I already have a form that lets me add a new user to the database. It's just based on the UserDetails table. If I could have a way (perhaps using 3 multi select list boxes. One box for previous experience, one for current experience and one for languages) on that form to add the other details to that person, that would be ideal. I'd like to create a new user. E.g. Joe Bloggs in department 1 who speaks Dutch, used to have Marketing, Chemistry and aeronautical experience and now works in IT.

I can create the new user by putting last first/last name and selecting the department. But to add experience or languages, I have to go into that junction table and add the numbers myself. e.g. user 1, has experience 1,3,4 and 5. I'd like to see the name that relates to the ID and be able to select it from the list in the table I have.

Forms :: Creating Form For Data Entry On Three Tables?

Nov 19, 2013

How do I create a form that will allow me to enter data into three different tables?

I have a rather simple database for tracking students. When I get a new student I need to take information off their paper application and enter it into three separate tables, Student, Families, and Demographics. Each of these tables contains the fields StudentID, StudentFirst, and StudentLast. There is a relationship between the StudentID field on each table, with Student being the main table and Families and Demographics coming off of it. All relationships are one to many. StudentID is the key for the table Student.

I want to create a form to add a new record to each of these tables. I want my data to be displayed in the Columnar style. I only want to enter StudentID, StudentFirst and Studentlast once and have it populate to all three tables.

I can create a form and a query that displays existing entries exactly like how I want to enter them, but of course I can not edit or add to them. I have tried using subforms, but they don't seem to link up. Once I enter the Name, I want it to be on all the forms. I don't want to have type it three times. I also tried creating three separate forms and connect them with the Navigation Form. The issue again is that once I enter the name in one form, it is not automatically on the next form.

Forms :: Display Data On Form From Secondary Tables

Apr 17, 2013

I have a form where I am entering orders. For this, there is only 1 item and 1 customer per order. The Order_Table is the 'general' of the form. However, I want a Customer_name dropdown on the form, and return data to 'display' on the form (but capturing and ONLY storing the Customer_no), once the user makes a selection.

Additionally, in the same vein, I want to have an Item_name list, where the user selects one from the listing, and display (again, no edit) the name. Again, only want to store the Customer & Item numbers on the Order table. Here's the 'general' table layout (I've taken out what doesn't matter):

Table: Order_Table
Order_no
Customer_no
Item_no

Table: Customer_Table
Customer_no
Customer_name

Table: Item_Table
Item_no
Item_name
