I am having a problem in creating forms. The database table consists of 3 fields , one of the field's value must be a concatenation of the values entered in the other two fields. The user must choose the values of the the two fields using combo boxes, after he choose the values, the third field must be filled automatically.
For example:The fields id and mid are set to 12 and 20 respectively using combo box.The third field wid must take the value 1220 ans store it in the table.
Hope that i made it clear and wish that i can get the solution.Thank You
Well, I am facing one problem..in my application; I need to show all forms / reports name of other database( .mdb ) file without opening the other database physically. I tried a lot but didnt succeded. I tried with below code..
Set AcApl = New Access.Application Call AcApl.OpenCurrentDatabase(strfolder, True) Set AcProj = AcApl.CurrentProject
Set frm1 = AcProj.AllForms
intCount = frm1.Count
But here wen the second line AcApl.opencurrentdatabase get executed at that time the database get open physically, and i dont want that..So is there any other way around..If so..please please help me..
I've split my database into a front end and back end which was relatively easy. I did this so that multiple users can have their own front end. But if I have to go in and change the back end and front end, does that mean I have to remake all the front ends? Right now I'm finding that if I delete my linked tables on the front end and then import them into the back end again and change everything on one screen and then split it again is the only option I know of.
Is there a way of allowing user to reference/update from either databases ? If user enters an item code and it is not found in database A, can the program direct it to retrieve/update from/to database B ? Assuming database A and B are item databases with different contents.
I was given a set of mdb files where the access forms were linked to SQL server tables. How do I find out the name of the SQL database the forms are linked to?
I have a problem and wander if anyone knows a solution?
I have a central database that runs on a stand alone machine (soon to run on a server with VPN connection), it has a form that enables us to report faults this works fine however i would like to be able to send the form out to our operators (all over the world) for them to fill in when needed. then what we would like is for them to send it back to usand then for us to upload it to the central database.
I have updated my copy of a database which included updates to a number of forms. I now want to import those changes into the proper database, so I used the Import function. I didnt get any errors when I imported everything, but the forms do not work as they did in my copy of the database.
One of the forms that dont work comprises of a number of drop down boxes, I have updated these so that the user has a filtered selection, to do this I put an SQL function in the Row Source property. This SQL function has been copied over correctly in the imported form, in fact when I go into the form in design view to check this fact then revert it back to normal view (after having not changed anything) it then works and all the other drop down boxes that didnt work on that form now work! How can viewing a form in design view and not changing anything make it now work?
So I could go into each form in the design view, check the Row Source property, then revert back to normal view and it would solve the problem of my forms not working, but, this database that I am importing the forms into is the back end of a split database and the first thing that the front end of the database does is import the changed objects into its database but the forms dont work.I have made changes in this way before and not had any problems before.
I'm trying to export a form to another database. I've tried both simply copy/paste and using the export function. In both cases the form is copied to the other database, but my buttons go missing. Is there a way to move the form to another database and keep it intact?
Access 2010. I need to be able to search ALL of the NAME fields in the database.I have reviewed some of the search forms already posted but I do not understand how to apply what was done to my database.
My problem is that I have a couple of forms where scrollbars are not appearing on forms when they are too long to fit on-screen. Instead they're just going below the bottom of the screen and there's no way to access things at the bottom of the form. This is happening with a data input form as well as with a form I'm using to filter and display a report. I've tried selecting both "Vertical only" and "both" for the scrollbar property of the form, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
The forms are being opened in "dialog" mode, the only option for opening a form in a web database when using a macro to open it, it seems. If I manually open the form in 'normal' mode, it has scrollbars. Also, if I open a report with a macro (on click), it has the option to open in 'normal' mode and has scrollbars and all is well. But if I want the user to be able to click a button to open the form, it seems I have to use dialog mode.
I working in a database. I want to open another database and go directly to a specific form (not the default form). How do I make this happen? Below is what I have so far.
Dim accapp As Access.Application Dim appname As String Set accapp = New Access.Application appname = "M:MPFMPF_Mgmt_Info_SystemSGLIPrepToolSGLIPrep Tool.accdb" accapp.OpenCurrentDatabase (appname) accapp.Visible = True
how to display images from a database in the form. The form looks approximately like Customerdetail from Northwind Access example database. Images in database I have stored as OLE object images. But how to link images with the form? Is it enough to give in properties control element source images column name? It seems like it is not.
I have tables, forms, and (will be) many data. But many data means that the file will be heavy (e.g. need a longer time to open it) and since it's located in server, meant that it'll also burden the servers when someone is accessing it. So, the idea is to make an access file consisted only of forms (and maybe tables), and another access file as the data-bank. And everytime the form is filled, it'll save the new data to the data-bank. So, it will be easier for the end-users to acess the form (e.g. saving time when opening the file).
My question is:
1) Is it really lessening the burden on server?
Because I think that even if the end-user only accessing the form, the form itself will be accessing the bank-data, and I do not see how it'll lessen all the process.
2) How to save to another database?
I used this command on VB:
Code: Set db = CurrentDb
Can it be used to save the form's data to another access database? How?
I have an error message or debug message in my code in username & password log in.. it has an error in if else statement

Hi guys Quick question. im running a planning database which has got 3 tables Objectors, Representations and Agents. Ive put these together using a one-to-many join matching up the index fields from Objectors and Representations. Ive just constructed a form which has a main form being the Representations and the sub forms with Objectors and Agents. When I want to update or add records a message saying " you cannot add or change a record because a related records is required in table Objectors.
Can any one tell me how I can get around this or possible solutions to this is? Any comments or feedback greatly appreciated!
Note: I put this in General original but it is rmore likely to be a table structure problem
I have a single table for storing the main data, this is fed by input from 3 forms. I have been asked if the forms can be used independantly and remotely as input forms.
My solution was to simply send out a database with just one form and created an append query so that when it is returned with completed information it would simply append the database to the main database. In itself this works fine however, what is happening, of course, is that when I get the other forms back I end up with triplicate records, that is instead of the information from the 3 forms being stored as one record it is now split over 3 records.
I have to be careful in what I do as the original database has been running for over 6 months now and has a lot of stored data and because of established queries/calculations/reports the last thing I want to do is change or split the main data table.
Is there anyway I can get the three records to concantenate on one line. The three forms all have separate fields as they were taken from the original database.
Goal: : To improve an application's performance by basing sub forms and combo
The application has a front and back-end. There is no SQL server involved. I use a module for, seeking out the back-end and automatically linking to the back-end in order that I might be able to provide updates. This has worked for me since first setting everything up.
First let me define what I mean by, “sub form” as to how I am designing my application. I have a number of, what I call, “main (unbound) forms” that are used to open up separate application modules. Each module contains a number of hyperlinks to each of the other application modules. Also, each main form (application module) contains a tab form with bound forms. Therefore, I am calling these lower level bound forms, sub forms and basing them on query files instead of tables. Many of the tables have fields for collecting information across a second form. I did not want to bring back all the fields when they are used in any of the two are three forms bound with the same table.
Problem: When I base either a main form or a sub-form on a query, that particular front-end query form no longer links to the back-end database table via a query file whenever I import everything g into a new/fresh version of the front-end application. Whnever I open one of the query files via the form, I get an error message in each of the fields indicating it can't fine the field even though the table is listed with all the fields. No, I do not have the same problem with forms based on tables.
I suspect that my problem is in what I am calling a main and sub form; and that the main form is really the first level bound form and never the top unbound form if one is used. I have a lot of forms. I just wanted to get some feedback on my suspicions or find out what else could be the source of my problem before re-doing everything.
I have a list of objects (forms, queries, macros, reports the number varies but could be up to 100) that need to be deleted from several other databases (about 20).
I could do this by hand (go into each database and select and delete each object) but this is slow and error prone.
I could create a macro and import it into each database and then execute it (I know how to do this)
or (!!!!!!)
there should be some way to be in one database (HOME) and programatically (VBA) delete in the other database (OTHER).
I know how to
Dim db As Database Set db = DBEngine.Workspaces(0).OpenDatabase("c:other.mdb")
What do I do next. I could use the db.execute command for tables (which I don't want to delete) but what about forms, queries, macros, and reports ???? I tried to modify the MsysObjects table but ran into permission problems.
I have a simple relational database with the proper linking tables, etc. I am normalized through BCNF. I have a table that will track tasking details, however, more than one person is assigned the tasking. How do i add to my form the ability to add additional people to the tasking?
If I drag and drop the name field then it is a one name for one box deal. I want to create a combo box that uses a query to prepoulate multiple elgible names (already built) and then you can select the person you want. Afterwards I want the task assigner to dynamically add additional people to the task with no true limit as the group can be as small as one and as large as thirty.
I attached a small screenshot of the basic table structure. I need to be able to add multiple SME's to the one tasking...
How important is it to add people's names into a database using two fields ?..ie: [FirstName] and [LastName]. Would it be ok to put their full name into one field if you also had a unique Identity Number for each person in the same table ?
