Date Displaying Incorrectly - Numbers Added
Mar 26, 2015
I have recently started learning to use Access and all is going very well except for the date. As can be seen from the images below I have set up my date function correctly in Control Panel and everywhere I use a date it is displayed correctly. In Access however numbers are added which I cannot figure where they are coming from and don't want them there. In the second image you can see what the various Format options look like. When long format is used in a Form or Report it displays those additional figure. I cannot get 2015 to display but get 15316 or similar instead.

Hello
I have some data I need to clean.
It is in an address field the majority of the data is fine but there are some records with words that have been spelt with numbers:
2 9RAMBLEGATE
2 Forest V1EW
2 KEM8LE Close
2 BELLEMOT4TE Road
Is it possible using a query to find instances where this has happened so I can flag these?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Tim

I have three fields in a database with phone numbers. They all appear to be set up the same. They all display the phone number format (xxx) xxx-xxxx when data is entered. One of them looks like a phone number in tables, forms and queries. The other two display as a 10 digit number.

I need to import an excel file with incorrectly formatted date field and it worked only to import them as text:
1 jan 2015
1 feb 2015
1 mar 2015
etc.
Using CVdate converts jan, feb, nov and dec to correct date, but gives an error message with mar to oct.

I have a list of publishers for software titles in a table.
1=Adobe
2=Macromedia
and so on and so forth.
I have a form that pulls the publisher name and displays it, and it used to display correctly with the NAME but now all of a sudden it's displaying the publisher number "1" instead of "Adobe"
what's going on?

Hi.
I have inherited a diary system in access 2003 from our previous IT manager, it has a calendar which displays they days of the month and this works fine on most of the computers on the network. The problem I am having is that on a couple of the computers it does not display the numbers for the days but instead displays full stops!
Can anybody explain why and give a fix for this please? I'm guessing it may be something to do with OLE control options on that particular machine but haven't a clue where to start looking.
Cheers folks.
Spikeydean.

Hi one and allI am basically trying to do what another member has detailed in this threadhttp://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=77802&highlight=add+dayswhere someone has suggested another link http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=62570which the person states has solved the problem - however it seems this link is dead, perhaps as a result of the site hack.I am sure you can see my question coming like a rabbit in headlights - does anyone know how to do this?!?Basically, I want to add a certain number of days (as specified in a text box-(txtDaysToAdd)) to a date, where weekends and self defined holidays are excluded (I have already set up my tbleHolidays to enter such dates).Any ideas?Thanks in advance

:confused: I am trying to add a "now" field to my table and records.
I currently have 2234 records in my table (old records) and I would like to be able to query only new records, or records within a date perameter. I have tried the "Now()" function but I am getting an error in the field when I go to add new records.
I know this is something simple that is eluding me and it is frustrating. I am currently scouring the forums for an answer, but if someone has the answer before I find it in here, could you pls help me out. I am in the process of rebuilding my database and would like to get everything done before I move to the next level.
Thanks,
Irish

I have a subform that is filtered by a textbox on the main form. Is there any way I can add a timestamp to a record on the subform when a user changes anything on that record?
I've tried the Macro that is listed on Microsoft's website regarding timestamps, but I had serious issues implementing that to a subform.

I need to export a table to a .csv file.
One of the fields in the table is "Posting Date". Data Type: Date/Time. Format: Short Date
All records in this field are dates. Format is "dd/mm/yyyy". None of the records include a time.
When I export the table to a .csv file, the time is added to the date. So the exported result is "dd/mm/yyyy 00:00:00" e.g. 17/10/2013 00:00:00
I am exporting the table using "delimited" format in the wizard.
I cannot use the fixed width option.
How do I prevent the time from being added?

Just wanted to confirm which is the best way to create an automatic back up of a access DB. (Split DB, backing up the BE - Access2010)
Firstly I was thinking of just creating a batch file to copy the file to a new source directly with a task scheduler set up.
Ideally I'd like it to run daily and have the date of the back up added to the end of the filepath.

In my Access app I need to get the latest record added of an item from a MS Sql table and check the period between now and the date saved in the record.
So my guess is:
Select TOP 1 * from tbl_StockItems
Where StockId = Loc_StockId
I then need to check the days between tbl_StockItems.LastStockDate and Today.
How would I write an Access VBA query to give me the amount of days and put that number into a variable.

Hi,
I am creating an access DB that has job listings
and displays the DB online.
I am creating tables rows for 'BeginListing' and 'Endlisitng'
etc that are stored as a Date
How do I get the asp/vbscript to check the date 'EndListing'
of the entry and to stop displaying it when the date is
later than today (so it takes them offline when the date is
expired)?
My script is like this and loops through each record set displaying the
contents:
'Loop through the recordset
Do While not rsJobPostings.EOF
'Write the HTML to display the current record in the recordset
Response.Write ("<div class='sitetext'><br> Job Number: ")
Response.Write (rsJobPostings("Job_Number"))
Response.Write ("<br>Job Heading: <b>")
Response.Write (rsJobPostings("Job_Heading"))
Response.Write ("<br>")
Response.Write (rsJobPostings("ListingEnds")) .... you get the idea.
Cheers thanks.

I have a query
SELECT Sum(TBL_MeasuresInstalled.FundingValue) AS ATP_Value
FROM TBL_MeasuresInstalled
GROUP BY TBL_MeasuresInstalled.IDSubmission, TBL_MeasuresInstalled.PriorityBasis
HAVING (((TBL_MeasuresInstalled.IDSubmission)=[Forms]![FRM_SubmissionReport]![cboSubmission]) AND ((TBL_MeasuresInstalled.PriorityBasis)="ATP"));
and it returns nothing when there are no records that match the HAVING clause - I want it to return 0 instead
I have searched the forum and people having similar issues have been advised to use the NZ function so I tried
SELECT NZ(Sum(TBL_MeasuresInstalled.FundingValue) ) AS ATP_Value
FROM TBL_MeasuresInstalled
GROUP BY TBL_MeasuresInstalled.IDSubmission, TBL_MeasuresInstalled.PriorityBasis
HAVING (((TBL_MeasuresInstalled.IDSubmission)=[Forms]![FRM_SubmissionReport]![cboSubmission]) AND ((TBL_MeasuresInstalled.PriorityBasis)="ATP"));
and
SELECT NZ(Sum(TBL_MeasuresInstalled.FundingValue) , 0) AS ATP_Value
FROM TBL_MeasuresInstalled
GROUP BY TBL_MeasuresInstalled.IDSubmission, TBL_MeasuresInstalled.PriorityBasis
HAVING (((TBL_MeasuresInstalled.IDSubmission)=[Forms]![FRM_SubmissionReport]![cboSubmission]) AND ((TBL_MeasuresInstalled.PriorityBasis)="ATP"));
but I get the same result (nothing returned)

I have a series of forms in my shiny new database and I have added the auto time and auto date fields to the form headers. I have added the code to keep the time ticking over and it all works fine.
Unless the is no data. If for any reason there is nothing in the Details part of the Form, the date and time do not display. As soon as any data shows up, so do the date and time.
The VBA code is running in either case so I am a little baffled. Usually Google is my friend but not in this case.
I am using Access 2013 on a win 7 machine.

I have Query which has dates in multiple columns. I need to know if there is a formula that will allow me to display the oldest date and the newest date?
Below is the output of my Query in Excel. I need the output to have two additional columns: Beginning Date and End Date. Based on the example below, I would need the beginning date to show 6/21 and the end date column to show 6/23 so when I export to excel, it shows these two dates. In Excel, there is a min/max formula that can do this but it looks like the min/max in Access only displays the min/max data? Unfortunately, creating this formula is not an option after the fact. Secondly, I need the word "DIRECTION" to show in it's own separate column in the in the query. I don't know if I can do this without adding another table to the Query or if I need can just add a column in design view and put something in the criteria that will do this.
I have included an example of my current output and what I need the output to read.
Current Output
Sunday
In
Out
Monday
In
Out
Tuesday
In
Out
[code]....

I have been staring at this for hours. If anyone can see what I have done wrong I would be so grateful.
In query Q_CTPayDeadline_1
Record ID_Tasks = 194
Field [Stage1B] SHOULD (I believe) evaluate to date 2010-01-01, not 2004-03-31, the former being greater than the latter.
The criteria for field Stage1B is
Stage1B: IIF([NzCease]>[PriorEnd],[NzCease],[PriorEnd])
The values of NzCease and PriorEnd are displayed to the right of Stage1B, for quick reference.
As you can see, for recird ID_Tasks = 194, the values shown are
NzCease = 2010-01-01
PriorEnd = 2004-03-31
BUT
Stage1B = 2004-03-31
ie it treats the IIF() function as returning false, when it should be true.

Hello,
I'm trying to sum values in a table and the result I'm getting is incorrect.
I have a simple table called Test with one row called Number which is Double. I have 4 values in Number field. They are:
-60000
26.6
2661
62849
When I run a query to sum those fields:
SELECT Sum(Number) As Sum FROM Test;
I get the following result:
5536.60000000001
Interestingly if I change the last number in my table from 62849 to 62848 I get this result:
5535.6
The problem seems to be with summing positive and negative numbers together. In my case, if the sum of positive numbers goes over 65535, the resulting sum is incorrect (adding 0.00000000001 to the result).
Does anybody know why this is happening and if there is a way around this? The actual tables that I work with have a large numbers that go well over 65K so this is a problem for me. I couldn't find anything on google about this.

Any suggestion?

I need some help please. I am working on a performance management database. In this database we keep track of daily overtime and how that overtime is broken down into sub categories. For example, my staff worked 14 hours of overtime yesterday. 8 went for weather related overtime and 6 went to cover vacations. I have a report that shows all of the supervisor's overtime in a continuous list of running totals. But it's getting to big. I am trying to create a query for each supervisor that pulls the daily totals for the previous week and gives me that total sum. So far, my individual supervisor queries look like this. DATE, SUPERVISOR, DAILY TOTAL. They click on the report button and then they just count 7 days worth of numbers.
How do I create this?
TOTAL FOR SUPERVISOR X FOR THE WEEK OF 00/00/00 through 00/00/00 that pulls the daily totals out of my "overtime table"? and gives me a weekly total?
Thank you
Shannon
