Date Time Field Prompt Mask
Feb 6, 2008
I have a field that is a Date Time field (mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss) and I would like to prompt the user for a begining date range and ending date range. I know how to prompt the user, but I would like for them to only key in the Date portion and not the time. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to handle this? Thanks

I need an input mask for a general date field. When I add the date "11/01/2012 10:00:00" it works fine.
When I add an input mask of 00/00/0000 00:00 it then doesn't work.

I have a date/time text field on a form with the General Date format and a combo box next to it that has sequencial times as the row source (IE. 12:45 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:15 AM, 1:30 AM, ETC.) When the user chooses a time in the combo box, I want the time portion of the text box to be updated with the chosen time in the combo. I have tried a few things but cant seem to get it right.

Hi,
Wonder if someone can help please. I'm quite new to Access so please bear with me.
I have a data field in my database consisting of both a date and time.
I then have a form containing two fields where the user can type a 'To' and 'From' date to extract the records that they are interested in. The query behind this uses the 'Between[Enter The Date] And [Enter The Date]' coding.
The problem is that because the field contains a time it doesn't return any records when I run the query.
Can anyone offer a bit of guidance on how I could ignore the time part of the field perhaps by adapting the above.
Many thanks
Chris

I have a column/field named [DateTaken] which contains test dates and times in the same cell. I am needing to find those with a test time less than 2:30 pm or <14:30pm.
data looks like this:
8/22/13 4:23 PM
1/29/14 12:21 PM
1/28/14 3:27 PM
8/26/13 4:27 PM
[code]....
this is what I have come up with to extract the time component of data set so that I can then later, sort it by the time in a query.
JustTime: TimeValue([YourField])
JustTime: ("hh:mm",([DateTaken])) and or ("hh:mm",[DateTaken])
I get either invalid operator or invalid syntax errors trying both of these.

Being dealing with my database and having quite some trouble with it. Is it possible to track down what the users did, during the time they login into, database, is it possible to prompt users for password and username when they buttons for like, delete cmd, or update command.
Just a breif idea on what im trying to do.(hopefully it won't confused you all)
Im trying to created a 2 main username. One is for admin group and another is for users group. Then users can login in to database, however whenever the users update or delete entries in the database, the user will prompt for their username and password (not the users group login ). Is it possible to build a table to store in the username and password for the prompting purposes one.
Sorry for confusing question. Actually im trying to think of another way, but for now this complicated event all i have think of. Feel free to voice your suggestion here. Thanks alot. TQ

I have a query based on a table which has a date field. the field both in the table and the query have the time also in the date value so when I try to query on a date I get nothing if I copy the date and time from the field I will get the result for that record if I just use the date I get nothing. I have tried the format which does display just date but if you click on the field the time is also there You must be able to query for a date only and get all the records.

I have set up a report which prompts the user for a start and end date. However, if they want to run it for a full month they enter eg. 01/07/07 and 1/07/07 - this will not include entries ending on 31/07/07.
Is there a way I can change the criteria prompt so that it read both dates entered as inclusive in the query. I am currently using
Between [enter earliest date:] and [enter latest date:]

I have a field in my table where I could enter time, I have formatted the field as "Short Time" with date/time data type. I have added a Input Mask for the time with 00:00 so we could only type 1530 quickly and it would taken it as 15:30 time. As there are thousands of entries each day, I have a quick question for the time. If we have time 8:30 AM, we have to input 0830 and it would enter it as 08:30 and its little odd to first enter "0" and then 830, Is it possible we could only enter 830 and it will taken the time as 08:30 and the rest of the things works like the same as it is working right now.

Hi,
I am trying to compare a value in my databse produced by the date() function, short date format, to one that is exactly 24 hours after the value recorded by the date() function. If the value in the database is 24 hours prior to the current date(), I need to flag a text box a diffrent color to alert the user. I am unsure on the If statement that I will need to produce this result.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks

Right now I have this in the query criteria row:
>=[Enter Start Date:] And <=[Enter End Date:]
This makes two prompts pop up one at a time. I was wondering if there was a way to combine both start and end date boxes in one prompt so I can see what dates I decide to type side by side. Is this possible?

How can I create a field in a query, extracting the date portion of a date/time field? The format is mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss. I need just the mm/dd/yyyy so I can prompt the user for a date range, without them having to key in the date mm/dd/yyyy 00:00:00 to mm/dd/yyyy 23:59:59. Please Help

Hello buddies :D, do you have any idea how to make this work?
To select data that falls within this criteria of date range between cboDate and cboDate2 (fields on my form). The date in [tblJobDetails]![timeIn] come in this format "08/17/06 10:24 AM", but the cboDate/cboDate2 (takes in date only e.g 08/17/06) what i am after is to evaluate specific hard coded time in addition to the date entered, i.e. even tho, i haven't entered time on the cboDate/cboDate2, I want specific time hard coded where e.g If i select a date range of 08/17/06 and 08/18/06 on my cboDate and cboDate2 it should really be evaluating: 08/17/06 8:00 AM to 08/18/06 8:00 AM.
This is the criteria i curentlly have on my query in design view tha works perfect in selecting date only.
([tblJobDetails]![timeIn]>=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate] Or [tblJobDetails]![timeIn]>=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate] Is Null) And ([tblJobDetails]![timeIn]<=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate2] Or [tblJobDetails]![timeIn]<=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate2] Is Null)
How can I incorporate 8:00am to 8:00am into my cboDate and cboDate2. What can i do to make this happen? Your kindness will be greatly appreciated http://www.naijaryders.com/forums/images/smilies/thankyou.gif

I have looked but have been unable to find the answer in past posts and this must be a common problem. I wish to include all records up to and including a date passed in the prompt "Criteria: <=[enter end date]". I changes the date format in the back end to short and I am in the US. However I get only dates less then the the prompted date.
Thanks for any help

I have a form with date/time field. I have the default value at =Now(). My problem is I would like for this particular field to stay with the current date/time all the time. I mean if I created a form last week with the date/time of 3/14/2005 12:54:34 PM and go back to the same form to edit something this week I would like for that particular date/time to be the current date/time and not the date/time from the week and time the original form was created.
Thanks for any help!

Greetings,
I am running some code to work on a table and I want to blank a date field. It is a stock control system where when a vessel is emptied I would like the updated field to become blank as it is empty and therefore has no history (this is stored in another table.)
The code I have tried to us is; (where updated is a date/time field)
Else
rst![Updated] = " "
rst![Volume] = "0"
End If
rst.Update
rst.Close
The message I am getting is 'Data type conversion error'.
How do I get this field to be blank by code?
Thanks in advance

I have a field that contains an input mask : 99/99/00 99:00;0;_ this allows the user to enter a date and time in one field. Such as 04/24/13 15:00 . I want to put validation on that field, so that the user can't enter a time that does not exist such as "25:30" or a date that hasn't happened yet. How to accomplish that? The data is going into a linked SQL table so I'm limited on what I can do on the table end I think.

I'm using MS Access 2002 and I'm trying to create a prompt for a date and then enter that date into the body of the letter.
Also can the date format be short and converted into a long format on the letter.
Example:
Prompt - Enter Date
Date entered = 12/31/2013
Sample Letter:
Your subscription ends on December 31, 2013 if you would like to renew etc.....

I have a database with date and time each stored in a separate field. Now I want to query the database based on a start date/time and an end date/time. I started with the code below but it only returns events within the same time range on each day when what I really need is every event from a specified date and time through a specified date and time.
SELECT myTable.ID AS myTable_ID, myDate, myTime, FirstName, LastName
FROM Staff INNER JOIN myTable ON
Staff.ID = myTable.StaffID
WHERE myTable.myDate >= #3/2/2014#
AND myTable.myDate <= #3/3/2014#
AND myTable.myTime >= #8:00PM#
AND myTable.myTime <= #11:00PM#
ORDER BY myDate desc
In the above example what I want is every event from 3/2/2014 8:00PM until 3/3/2014 11:00PM. But what I get instead is every event between 8:00PM and 11:00PM on 3/2/2014 and every event between 8:00PM and 11:00PM on 3/3/2014.
