I have creadted a database for tracking students.
I would like to give them progress reports every three month based on thier start date (I have a 'short date' field for the start date).
If I run the query in January I would like results for all student who started in Jan, April, July & Aug.

I need a subgrouping for a report I am working on.
I have a DateIn field that contains date as mm/dd/yy. I have managed to get a count of all of a certain type of document that came in during a certain period of time that usally spans a quarterly period. So typically there are three months in the query. I would like a subgroup that breaks the numbers up in the 3 month period by each month.
So if a total of 150 docs moved in 3 months it shows 50 moved the first month, 50 the second, etc. I believe this is grouping by month. I have not been able to determine the criteria for getting the query to group by a single month as well as the three months period being grouped by document type. Here is what I have so far.

I am looking at creating a query which would report whether a specific field is yes/no. However, I would like it to based on that days specific month. For example, I have 12 check box fields, one for each month, and I would like to create a report where it would look up whether or not the current month has a check box in it. Additionally, I would like to create another where the criteria would require me to put in a month to search for. For example, to search to see whether or not december has been checked.

I currently have a form that creates a report based on a query that takes in a start date and an end date.
What I would like to do is to create comboboxes that will let the user choose a month and year for the report.
Is there a simple way to choose an entire month in access? I've tried using the Month() function to no avail.
The SQL statement for where I select the start and end date is below:
WHERE ((([tblData].[EntryDate])
Between [Forms]![frmByRange]![BeginningDate] And [Forms]![frmByRange]![EndingDate])

I have big table that gets updated almost every day with new data. There is a date column. I have a Form where I can enter queries. I need to add a panel where I can spcify if the query should involve the data should involve the date from last week only, from the last 2 weeks, from the last month or if the query should involve the overall data.:confused:
It somhow need to be check what the date is today and then caclulate back.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.:D

My question is that I wish to have a query that looks up on a name in a form (No problem got this bit) and also the Date field from the same form so that from the date :-
example 24/03/2013 only cares about the Month and Year so would look up only March in 2013
The end result would be to supply me with a number (using count) of how many times this persons name has occurred within the calendar month and year of the date supplied in the form
I am trying to create a mailing list of patients. Let's say I am creating a mailing list for February. I need the mailing list to consist of people who have had surgery in February from the beginning of the database, and people who have had surgery three months ago, so anyone who had surgery in November. I have created a form that has a button which is connected to a query, the form has a unbound textbox where I can enter the month in (2 for February). Then the query uses the datepart function to search for this month in their date of surgery. But this only gives me people for surgeries with february, how would I get people who have had surgery three months ago in the same query.

I was not able to get the totals with the formulas given. I received the totals for each day instead. Are there any other suggestions? I am trying to different formulas, but they are not working either. I did try doing different queries with the formulas to see if that would work.
I am trying to create a database that will keep track of the orders placed for a given part number by month. Currently, my table houses the part number, and the ordered amount for the past three years by month (there are thirty-five columns for every part). My column headings are ORDER_MAY_2013, etc. I would like to set a query up that will look at the column headings and pull the amounts ordered for each part for the past twelve months. In other words, I have three years of data in my table. In my query, I just want one year. However, I don't want to have to rewrite the query every month so that it will pick up the new data. Is there a way to accomplish this?
Is there a better way to build this database? I thought about just have four columns in my table - PART_NUMBER, ORDER_MONTH, ORDER_YEAR, ORDER_AMOUNT. The only problem there, is that every part (there are about 450 parts) would have to be listed 35+ times. That seemed too redundant to me, so I built the table this way. However, now I am having trouble querying against it.
Using access 2010; i have a form that includes a date field. Is there a way to force the user to only choose a month end date? When the user clicks the date from the popup, they may use 9/1/2013 when the mgr. want them to use only 8/31/2013. I am thinking validation field to put a msg but want to be able to force it not the option.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am creating a repayment schedule (as a report) and I want to display a series of fields as a column which return (show) a date one month after the date in the field above.
The first repayment date field (Line 1) will show a date one month after the loan was paid out. the Next field below will show the date one month later.
I can't simply insert the "Date + 30" because that would get out of since over the year. If the loan was issued on say the 15th of January, I need the first field to display 15th February and the next would be .... 15th March.... Yes - You've got it!
Now I could do that in Excel, but I don't know how to get Access to do it.
I've two fields to work with:
[Date of Device]
[DischDate]
If i was explaining it, it would be as follows:
If [DischDate] Is in the next month after [Date of Device] then Y else N.
to add for example if the [Date of Device] is April 2015, and the [DischDate] is also April then i'd expect a N answer
to add for example if the [Date of Device] is April 2015, and the [DischDate] is May then i'd expect a Y answer
I would like a query to return dates based upon the input of just the day and month. At the moment I have a parameter query which asks for 'start date' and 'end date' and this works fine, but I want the query to return all the records for all the years in the database and not just the current one (date format is dd/mm/yy)
So if I type <start date> 01/01 and <end date> 02/01 the query will return:
01/01/04
01/01/05
01/01/06
02/01/04
02/01/05
02/01/06

I have a subform on which I log the times spent on any particular project.
I have another subform on which I want to select a month and use this to select all the instances on which work was done on any given project for a particular month. I would prefer to use a pop up calender to select the month (i.e. by slecting the last day of the month in question)
Has anyone got any idea how I might do this - I am completely stumped.

I have created some subtotals in some columns of data which for example are the dates, names, and amounts of invoices.
The code I used is:
Range(Range("C1"), Range("C1").End(xlDown)).Select

This is working of sorts but it is giving me subtotals based on the day in the date column. How can I change this to group by the month?
:confused: i am trying to develop a system which requires a date order to be used .. i want to use a filter query to filter out certain information from my tables into a form .. i know how to accomplish this but i am having a small problem getting there
i wish to set sunday to an order of one (1) and monday to two (2) and so on so that when i create my query i will be able to select the thursday for example ( by setting the criteria to a "5" )
i have a table consisting of the dates but i am unsure how to create a field that displays the order .. automatically calculating whether the date is a sunday or a monday and assigning the correct number as stated above, i have tried something (not sure what) which assigned a 1 to monday through 7 to sunday but this is not the order i wish to use and it failed to work with my query anyway
would this create this using my computers clock or something and if so what do i need to do to get this small part of my system up and running therefore enabling me to create my filter query

Hi everyone, I am hoping to learn something new about access today. What I need is to be able to run a query that gives me rows of data based on paramenters that I specify. For example, I will query this all just on one table and I want to come up with an output that is in a nice format as follows:
Parameter..........................Member Count
01/01/04 thru 01/20/04...............298
02/01/04 thru 02/20/04...............287
03/01/04 thru 03/20/04...............301
04/01/04 thru 04/20/04...............254
And so on, usually for a calendar year.
Basically each member has an effective date, like member A might have 01/15/04 effective date and member B might have 01/02/04 effective date. I need to capture the count of members by month based on their effective date range. I would like to do it all in one query like above instead of just running a query for January, then February, then March, so on.
Is there a way to do this? Right now I am just running a query and getting one member count at a time and copying that number to an excel spreadsheet. it works okay, but is time consuming. I would rather semi-automate things for me. Any ideas?
Oh and I am new to access, by no means an expert, so be gentle with me.

I have a database with the following information:
FTA # Date Attended Last name First name assigned person......
Each week I need to generate a report that shows the people that attended for that week, grouped by the assigned person. I only want to show the data for a specific "date attended" (i.e. that days date). I figured I first need to generate a query that only returns the data for that specific date in the "date attended" column. I did that but it is manuel by using the criteria field.
Is there an easy way to type in the date that I want the query to use as the criteria?

I have the following tables: Rates and SelectedDates, which are structured as follows.
Rates: RateID, EffectiveDate, Rate
SelectedDates: Date. Table is bound to a combobox in which user selects one or more dates, mm/dd/yyyy, which is the same format as Rates.EffectiveDate.
I need a query to return the first Rates.Rate for the following conditions. (there will be a minimum of one record in the Rates table)
IF there is only one Rates.EffectiveDate for the SelectedDates.Date
return the associated Rates.Rate
ELSE IF count(Rates.EffectiveDate <= SelectedDates.Date)>=1
return the first Rates.Rate where Rates.EffectiveDate <= SelectedDates.Date
ELSE
return Rates.Rate associated to the Rates.EffectiveDate closest to the SelectedDates.Date.

I have a query that produces a set of rows that contain product IDs and dates (sent). What I want to do is filter out rows that share IDs with another row such that I keep only one row which has the most recent date. As an example my query might contain the following two rows:
DATE ID
01/01/2015 1
02/01/2015 1
What I want to do is filter my table and under the condition that ID #1 appears more than once only keep the row with the most recent date.
I'm unsure what the easiest way to do this would be (or how to do it at all).
I've been trying to solve this problem for the past month and at the verge of destroying my PC! I've trawled through numerous web sites but just cant seem to figure this one out.I'm trying to get access to tell me what the next service moth is based on the start date, end date, and the frequency of service.
For example:
Start date: 01/01/2014
End date: 31/12/2015
service frequency: Every 4 months
Using the above information the service months are:
1 - April 2014
2 - August 2014
3 - December 2014
4 - April 2015
5 - August 2015
6 - December 2015
