Default Number Value Changed To 0 After Starting Enter Data Into A Form
Mar 4, 2015
I have a form that has number entries. I changed the Default Value for these numbers to Null because I dont want 0s (they aren't being used for numeric calculations, they just hold a number). I want there to be nothing in the input field until I put it there.
My problem is, when I start to enter info into my form, access automatically places 0s into all my number entries! Is there a way to avoid this? Or should I just make the fields text instead?
In Access 2010, I have a database with 2 tables "group" and "member". They have a many-to-one relationship with nultiple members per group. Group has identifier "ID" and Member has field "Group Code" that matches with "ID". Formerly we called this field "Bulgiin kod" but needed to translate it. When we changed "Bulgiin kod" to "Group Code", now when we expand the group records (click the + button next to the row) it gives "enter parameter value" box. I tried deleting the relationship and re-creating it but without success. If I change the Group Code back to its original value, everything works fine.
Here is another thing I noticed: if I enter the value of ID into the parameter value box, it just shows the entire Member table, regardless of the actual matches. So if I expand ID #15, and enter "15", the whole Member table displays under the record.
I have a table with an auto number PK. This table will contain orders. I'd like to use the PK from this table as the Invoice number on the invoice. I'd like to have it start at a number other than "1" just because it looks better on an invoice. I don't know how to do this. I looked at the table design to see if there were options available to me there but couldn't find anything. Is it possible? (I do not know how to use code.)
OK so my situation is a simple 1 to many relationship where the main form has the primary key and the secondary input form needs the foreign key to be passed to it to link the 2 tables.
Say for example 1 Site has many sections (Plants). The main menu form can therefore select the Site and filter to another combo box containing the plants that are attached to that site. The user can then either edit the plant or add a new plant record linked to the site.
I have figured out how to edit the plant attached to the site using a macro that opens the form Plants with the site ID passed from the main form however when I want to enter a new Plant I still need the site ID passed to the Plants form however using the following code
Hi, I have a form with some fields on it, there is one called Pro Number. what I would like to happen is when a new record is created, it starts at a certain number and continues to increment by one. In other words, the first record would be 5600 and the next new record would be 5601 etc.
I did have this working in an previous database, by creating a append query to start the number, but that does not seem to be working now...
I have a table with a compound key, and one of the two fields in the compound key has to start at 100 and finish at 999 and I'd like it so that each number didn't have to be typed in individually.
So I thought about using an autonumber that somehow starts at 100 but doesn't go over 999 if thats possible? Or if you have any other ideas on how I could achieve this? Thanks

I have a field to record the last 4 digits of a credit card number in regards to tracking payment information.
The field is currently formatted as a Number field. When I try to enter a set of 4 numbers that start with "0" (e.g. 0123), Access removes the 0 from the start automatically (so 0123 becomes 123).
That function makes perfect sense under normal circumstances, but in this case I want to be able to keep the 0 at the beginning because it is part of the 4 digit sequence.
I have an complex code. In this code I sent the form value 00712 with query string and an insert SQL command to an Access database. The probleme is that the number is stored as 712 in the database. I do not want that.
I have Main form, and Subform (which is continuous form). Now when i open main form (or even subform itself) i see continuous form, and two empty rows.Whenever i fill first row and press on second, third row appears, and so on.
Can i set somewhere to show me only 1 empty row on this continuous form, and when i fill it, second row appears, and so on. E.g. is there any options for customizing how many empty rows are displayed and the begining of continuous form?
And how "saving of records" work here, because if i fill one row, it won't save anything....it will save it only when i press on other row (when third row creates)
I currently have a database where new records can be entered in a "New Part" Form and Records can be viewed(but not altered) in a "Part Search" Form. The forms are the same except one is allowed to edit. I have also created another form where I am trying to search the "Part Search" Form via a tracking number. I want to have a text box where users enter a tracking number then click the button to take them to the record on the "Part Search" Form.
I have a table which has 2 fields 1) Project_Priority_Number and 2) Previous_Priority_Number. If there were 100 records these would be numbered 1-100 in the order that the user originally sets the priority (this number is in addition to the record ID number). I have created a form with code that moves the Project_Priority_Number to the Previous_Priority_Number and then shows the Project_Priority_Number as blank and displays all of the records.
The user can then set new priority numbers in the blank column. Say they choose to make the old priority number 4 the new number 3 and priority 27 now becomes say 2, etc. I want the user to press a button that re-numbers the remaining ones based on their old position + or - 1 (basically to fill the gaps but based on their previous positions). I understand how to renumber if one is deleted but I don't know how to be more specific and re-number based both on their previous priority number and whether something else is now set to replace that.
For Example (the following numbers need to re-order based on previous priority 4 becomming the new priority 1 and the previous number 8 becomming 3 - so the previous 1 becomes 2 and then everything after the new 3 moves forward 1):
PROJECT PRIORITY NUMBER PREVIOUS PRIORITY NUMBER 1 2 3 1 4 5 6 7 3 8 9 10
Hope someone can help with this one - I have searched the Forum and cannot find any reference to this problem. I have a form which was originally based on a query linking 2 tables - data entry into the form worked fine. I then needed to add another field to the form from another table so I added the 3 table to my query, linked the table and then added the required field to my form and now the form will not allow me to enter or change data in any of the fields. I have checked relationships and they all seem to be OK. I have also tried creating a new query based on the original query and added the new table to that in case there was an issue with the first join, added my new table to this query and then based the form on this new query but the problem stills persists. Is there a limit to how many tables/queries a form can be linked to? Any help would be appresicated.
I have a form which contains several controls and a listbox. I have set the Default setting to yes for a command button that returns the results of the search, so when i click the Enter key on any control (with the exception of other command buttons), the result is returned.
Question: I want to prevent the Default command button from activating when pressing Enter from the listbox.
I thought of using the KeyDown event with this code If KeyCode = vbKeyReturn Then 'do something End If but i can't get it to disregard the default
I am doing my internship now and am new to vba and excel. I need help with the following.
I need to create a form which allows the user to enter records into a table. The fields for this table is [product type], [Reasons] and [Breaks]. However for each [product type] there is a specific list of [reasons] and [breaks]. I need to reflect this onto the form using drop down lists or list box. That is if the user selects [product 1], the associated [reasons] and [breaks] will populate the other 2 list box. And then the user will click the update button to insert a new record into the table.
Can somebody help me out here? Thanks so much in advance.
I was able to enter data into my form but I made a few design tweaks and added another table into the form and now, in form view, I''m unable to enter data into any field.
I have a make couple of Forms and couple of tables.
My problem is how to I connect the form to the table, so it will store entered data from the form to the table. There are about 2-4 places where the user can enter data into the Form and it should be stored to a table. I made 5 forms and 5 tables, where the user fills out the first form and clicks next and next form opens and so on.
If possibly I would like to skip all the coding that can be used.
it is zip file unable to get the size lower yet minimal amount in database I have 2 tables and one form when I create an query on the form the form then becomes that I cannot enter data in it or edit etc
I created a form that allows users to enter data into the fields and populates the table. But can I have it do that and populate instead of one table, two tables?
I have been having problems with opening a form to add new records only. I have gone through all possible solutions but somehow the problem persists.I want to add new records only and not view any of the existing records. I have set the form properties to Date Entry Yes, Allow additions to Yes, Allow Edits to No. The form opens through a command button on another form and the vba code is the following.
I'm creating a Dating Database on MS access, Now I've been given the attributes for all the tables. They are five (Client, Hobby, Meeting, ClientHobby, ClientMeeting)
Now I'm needed to create a form which allows me to enter the client data + at least two interests and their age calculated from their DOB. Seeing as I was only asked to put DOB in the actual Client table, I thought I'd create an Age query and then make that form out of the Age Query. (I already successfully managed to get the Age out of DOB in that query in a field of its own)
However, how can I add the hobbies field to that age query so I can finally create the form that I am required to do?
Second, I am to create a query which will be used for ‘matching’ clients. The criteria that you will use are: gender, age (using a range e.g. 20-25), interests/hobbies and city/town, this query ill be used to create a report which lists all the clients who match the entered criteria. How am I to do that?
