Deleting A Specific Record From A Table Using A Value From A Form

I have a form where a user enter an ID and some details. This is saved in Table A.The ID is also in Table B - What I want is, once the user saves it in Table A-I want it to be deleted from Table B. Ultimately, Table A has all information and Table B will only have those IDs that haven't been entered in Table A. what is entered in Table A shouldn't be there in Table B.Is there a way to do this using a macro?I did find a VBA code online -

How to do an UPDATE using VBA on a form to update a specific record on the table using an unbound field on the form to filter the update.

Every time the code runs, it tells me: Run-time error '3144': Syntax error in UPDATE statement and takes me to the "CurrentDb.Execute strSQL, dbFailOnError" line at the end of my sample below.

Here's my code:

I want to hyperlink from a query direct to the relevant record in a specific form. I have a hyperlink field in the form which shows up in the query. When clicked in the query, this hyperlinks to the form but I cannot make it select the correct record in the form.How do I get it to select the correct record?

Deleting Child Table Record?

I have two tables in my access database with Parent Child relationship.Then i have below query based on which i have a datasheet form.

SELECT MOC_EMERGENCY.[MOC NUMBER], MOC_EMERGENCY.PERMANENT_MOC, MOC_DATA.TITLE
FROM MOC_DATA INNER JOIN MOC_EMERGENCY
ON MOC_DATA.[MOC NUMBER] = MOC_EMERGENCY.[MOC NUMBER]

When i delete a record in this form, my parent table record (in MOC_DATA table) is automatically deleted.

I am trying to delete a record from a table and when I pass the variable as a text value it works but when I pass as a number I am getting a mismatch error.

I have to use it as a number as I am doing other update code in my database and it is a number.

Code:
DoCmd.RunSQL "DELETE * FROM TblIssueData Where tblIssueData.SerNum = ' & Me.txtserNum & ';"

When I am using TblIssueData SerNum as a text variable in table it works but when I specify SerNum as a number in the table it gives me data mismatch error. I have to leave it as a number for other VBA code in my database. I believe it is just a syntax error but not sure where to go with it.

Deleting A Record Through A Button In A Form?

Help needed! (Apologies if this is a stupid question !)

I'm making a database for my OCR A2 coursework.

I have a table set up for tenants, and have created a form through which the user can delete a record from that table.

I have a look up combo box, to select the record (tenant) for deletion, and a command button - using the wizard that came up I have selected "delete record" - but it doesnt work! It doesn't delete the record i have selected.

Why Is this not happening ? It also doesn't bring up a warning box saying "you are about to delete one record" or something similar?

I'm using MS Access 2003.

I have a form that displays in datasheet view. When I select a record and hit my keyboard's Delete button, I see the following error:

The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time.

This error *always* appears when deleting any record from this form. After clicking OK on this error, if I refresh the form, the record in question has indeed been deleted.

We use an Oracle back-end, and I have tried dropping the associated triggers, but the error message persists.

Currently i have a form with subform datasheet

Form from Purchase order table
Subform from serial table(Brand,Model,Type,Location,Serial) with serialtrans table(InOut,AQty,Comment)

FROM tbl_Serial LEFT JOIN tbl_SerialTrans ON tbl_Serial.SerialID = tbl_SerialTrans.SerialID

when i click on the datasheet row and delete the row it only delete the record from tbl_SerialTrans but record on tbl_Serial was not deleted

is there any way to delete it?

Updating Main Form When Deleting Record From Subform Datasheet

Hi, I have a problem I don't know how to solve it. I have a subform in datasheet view, linked to the main form. There is a running total on the main form based on a dsum on a field of the subform.
When I delete a row on the subform datasheet, the main form calculation is not automatically updated. I had to create a "update" button to do the refresh.
Is there a "on record delete" event available for a datasheet sub form?

I have been trying to figure out how to make a form refresh after deleting a record in a subform. The code in the combo box that populates the subform works fine. If you select the "Action" of "sign" from the unbound combo box above the subform, it places "Sign" in the the subform and then makes a checkbox on the main form [WillTake] = True.

But when I delete the record by right clicking on the entry, the focus is sent back to the main form so I can refresh the form and thus update the [WillTake] checkbox. I have tried just about everything. I can get the focus to a field on the form, but I cannot figure out how to refresh or requery the form.

The code to transfer focus is on the OnDelete of the subform.

I have included a watered down version of the DB.

I have a continuous form for which the recordsource is a query that retrieves dates from 10 days in the past to 10 days in the present. I want the record with today's date to be at the top of the form. The record with the oldest date is always on top. Is this a scrolling issue? How can I get the record with today's date to appear on top?

each person have their own job history. all these jobs are stored in the job history table. when i delete a person i would like the job history for this person deleted as well. each job stored in the job table have a field with person name, so that it is linked to this person.

I have a form linked to a table and in my form there is a listbox reflecting the records in my table. Evereytime I tick a record in the list box the information on its corresponding columns appears on the text field.

So far I am able to add, modify and save record to my table using this form but I am having a problem on deleting a record which I selected on the listbox. I created a delete command button but it is not working. Please see attached database.

Cannot Display Specific Record From Table

Well, here's another newbie question.

First let me say, I've search this forum for as long as tolerable looking for a simular problem as mine and could not find one. I am sure this isn't the first time this question has been asked.

I have taken a few Access courses at a local college for my own personal use and have discovered that the courses albeit expensive, just covered what appears to be mere basics.

At this time, I do not understand SQL or VBA. Nonetheless, I have created a database to organize my four bookcase library.

The library consists of books & mags, records(33's, 45's and 78's), DVD's, VHS & Digital tapes, CD's(Music and software).

I have created tables for Books/Mags, Video and Music. All of which pulls required data from a list in other tables such as mediatype (Book, DVD, Record etc..), location(C1S2R which has a description field as Case 1 Second Shelf Right side area) and Genre(Country Music, Video Sci-Fi, Fiction Reading etc...).

When I query on a field such as Title, it brings back the desired results. However, when I query on a field where the data was import from another table such as Genre, the result is an empty table and yet the record truly exsist.

For instance this is the criteria I used Like ["Genre"] & "*" When prompted I typed V and expect at least one record that had Video Sci-FI listed. The result came back blank. When I just hit OK then the whole table would display and sure enough the Video Sci-Fi record would be there as well.

This is true of all the fields/data that has been pulled into the table from another table. I have tried many combinations of the criteria command to no avail.

If I can get this part to work I can quit biting my nails (or should I say nubs)

Deleting Records From A Table Through A Form Button Event

I have a FrmCadastro which updates my master table TblCadastro. Primary key of the TblCadastro is an auto numbered field named CADID.Fields CPF, NAME, FIN, NAT, TIP, MOT, and INSTREQ of the FrmCadastro are mandatory. My rule is that If any of these fields is null then the record cannot be saved (cannot be added into TblCadastro).

FrmCadastro has two distinct buttons, as follows: BtSave (to save either newly included record or changed record) and BtDelete (to delete a chosen record from my master table).To delete a record has not been a problem because under the click event of the BtDelete I use the following command lines to successfully eliminate an existing record (previously saved) from the TblCadastro:Dim numRecord As Integer

To save a complete record (properly filled in) has not been a problem either since the code takes care of that very well.When the user is in the process of adding a new record through the FrmCadastro two different user behaviors can take place:

1. Irregular entering - The user for some reason just give up saving the record (he decides to add the new record later, for instance) by selecting the option Save = No, or
2. Incomplete record - By mistake the user try to save an incomplete record (a record that shows any mandatory field as null).

I coded the following command lines under the click event of the BtSave to take care of deleting those records... BUT it does NOT work. The system reads each line of the code, find the record properly, close the form as expected, but the incomplete record STILL REMAINS in the TblCadastro. I do not understand why, since the code is pretty much the same of the one in the BtDelete.

I know how to open a table in database view using a command button. I'd like to have it open to or automatically scroll to and select a specific record, based on the content of the form. This way I don't have to spend time scrolling through the whole table to try and find the desired record.

Macro To Open Table To A Specific Record

I'm very new to access database and I'm trying to create a macro that allows the user to enter data after seeing a mistake in a form. I need a macro that will open the specific table and record of a piece of data. For example there is a student TestName3 whose grade on a competency is 30% but should really be 45%. I want a macro by the competency percentage to allow the teacher to edit that without looking through the entire table. The macro should prompt first to ask if the teacher is sure they would like to edit, second prompt asking for the student's unique ID number, and finally be taken to the specific record and table related to that competency.

I have tried to use a vastly overcomplicated DLookup and Order column to give me the value for a acGoTo search.

Access 2010 Get Specific Record From Table

I have 2 Tables. Table "BOL" and Table "Containers". Both contain "Job_Number" and "Bill_of_Lading_Number" as a field. I would like to get a "Bill_of_Lading_Number" record from "BOL" and add it to "Bill_of_Lading_Number" in "Containers" table based on condition when both "Job_Number" are equal. I have tried two methods. One with DLookup and another with SELECT. Both work but with a small problem.

When I execute them, a dialogue box popup asking me to enter the "Bill_of_Lading_Number" value while the required value shows as dialogue box heading. This box shouldn't come up and I am not sure why this is happening. "varsJobCont" variable I get from another form and is "Job_Number" value that determines the record to be selected.

My Both Codes are:

In my Access2000 db, I have a table, on which many different queries are based. Many forms are based on those queries. I want to delete some redundant fields from the table. I tried deleting one, but I found I could no longer open any of the associated queries and forms. Is there a simple way to delete table fields so that it doesn't stop me from opening associated queries and forms? (There are hundreds of them, and I have a lot of table fields that I want to delete).

Opening A Form At A Specific Record

Hi all

Im currently designing one of my first databases!

I've initiated a log on procedure, with a password.

A user enters their ID and password. Once the correct password is entered, the next form is then loaded up, to which they make some choices.

My problem is that I have lots of users, and I would like them to only access the page that is relevant to themse, and NOT be able to see anyone elses.

I gather there is a little bit of tweaking to go on the
docmd.openform...

line, and somehow incorporate the userID, but not entirely too sure what it is.

Apologies if this seems really easy!
