Dec 14, 2006On my "timesheet" for my volunteer database, I have a textbox called HoursRemaining. It's control source is =[HoursRequired]-[HoursCompleted]
That works great. Occationally however, the volunteer will complete more hours than required. Instead of displaying a negative number, I would like HoursRemaining to display 0.
Can this be done?

Feb 15, 2006Is there a way to display a number (on a Form) for the number of records in a specific table? I just want to reference how many records there are. I tried to search this topic, but couldn't find anything. Thanks.

Nov 20, 2014I am creating a form for users to enter data. Each entry needs to have a "Event ID" associated with it and these Event IDs may be used more than once but will refer to the same Event (if it was a single entry with no duplicates, I would just use the rows primary key). How to create a query that looks at a list of existing numbers (Events already in the table) and returns the next/an unused number? I would like to create a button that says "Next available Event ID" and provides the user with a number.

Oct 28, 2014I have a problem with my database I have a combo box that will search for my record. Actually its working I input the specific number it goes to the specific record. But I want, if there no existing record in my database it will display a Messagebox that "No record Found" I try to put a code in a macro builder in a after update property field but nothing happened.
Expression code that it will display the msgbox if there's no record found.
the given code from macro builder is attached. I try to have an if else statement but I dont know how to not equal that giver conditional expression.

While doing a rabbit DB for the missus I have hit a problem, if one of the does gives birth to 3 babies i wish to have the details entered onto a form (not a problem) but i would like to do this:
if number of babies = 3 then fields to display to enter details is 3 on the form, i have my table setup with up to 10 seperate field for the babies per record but am stuck trying to do this
any help or direction would be great

May 6, 2015I'm trying to make a form that shows what the last record was next to the empty space where you enter a new record.
This is so the user knows that what they are entering is roughly in line with what has come before.
So for example if I was recording temperature every May, I would like a form that has a field called temperature and next to that field I would like to see last year's temperature.
Records:
Date | Temp
2014 | 20.5
2013 | 18.5
2012 | 19.0
2011 | 22.7
2010 | 15.2
So when I enter the record for 2015 I have a box that says: Temp and next to that box is "Last year was 20.5" or something like that.

I have a query for each so if you run qry_RagRed, it will show in a sheet all Red projects and obviously have a total in there.
So I have a form which has buttons on it for navigation, what I want is to display various things on there so for example, a field that simply has the number of red projects, or green etc.
All I want it to do is tell me a number based upon number of items in a query.
Access 2007 - Cannot Display 17 Digit Number
Aug 8, 2011I can't display a 17 digit number in my table without losing the last couple of digits to 'rounding'. I've tried 'doubling' the field size but to no avail....whatever I attempt loses the last couple of digits to a 'nice round figure'.....
The numbers had initially been imported as text...which is really what they ought to be as they're identification numbers, but I had some issues using the find 'duplicate values' query and conjectured that was because the ID numbers had been defined as text---->though I could be wrong.
The VAL function works (to convert the text to numbers) but again -- I lose the detail of the last couple of digits.
I've been beating my head against this wall the entire day and at the very least, would like to know if what I'm attempting is viable. I've stumbled through function queries (with some success) and react like a deer in the headlights when it comes to VBA....
Display A Record Once If Data In Two Fields Have Matching Record

i am attempting to create a VERY complicated query . . . it's sort of confusing:
I recieve data from an outside source and it is up to us to format it for our own analysis . . .
i have fields:
MethodCode..... AccNo .....PatientName.....MR..... TestCode ..... etc, etc
The fields we want to focus on is "AccNo" and "TestCode"
Now i want to filter based on this condition:
If "AccNo" AND "TestCode" BOTH have duplicate data in a record. Show that record only once. Remember. . . "AccNo and TestCode, both these fields have to have duplicate data in a record.
Example:
MethodCode..... AccNo .....PatientName.....MR..... TestCode ..... etc, etc
CAPT.....M566679.....John Blue.....123456.....CBCA
CAPT.....M566679.....John Blue.....123456.....CBCA
the example above should only display once because of the repeated AccNo and TestCode
Example:
MethodCode..... AccNo .....PatientName.....MR..... TestCode ..... etc, etc
CAPT.....M566679.....John Blue.....123456..... CBCA
CAPT.....M566679.....John Blue.....123456..... LIPID
the example above is just fine because the TestCode is not matching
How do i create a query to accomplish this? someone please help, i've had troube with this for the passed couple weeks . .. .
Queries :: Change Number In A Table To Display Text
Feb 27, 2014I'm trying to change a 1,2,3 in a table to display NA, Yes, No on a form.
I have an Infopath form with a n/a,yes,no drop down that is dumped into Access. Infopath requires a value be tied to them so it is 1,2,3. So in Access, my table shows the numbers and not the text. I would like to know how to get my access forms to show the text instead. Not sure if I should be setting the field criteria in my query to say if this field is a 1 make it Yes, if 2 make it NO, if 3, make it NA. Or if there is something completely different to do.
I found a workaround by going into the query and using Find and Replace but I need this to update itself automatically.

Some students pays fee for one month, some for two months and some 3 months.
School administration requires me to print notices for every student according their payment mode after comparing with next due months and already paid months.
Some notices will show their fee for the months as

Apr 19, 2015I have an access form that displays some data about customers and their booking for flight. so lets say if there is a group of five people that made a booking for a certain flight, i have to assign ticket numbers to them and store it in some table.
Now i can display the number of people in a group for a certain flight in a subform, i want to have another textbox in front of their names so i can type in the ticket numbers. So i went to design view and added another textbox, but the problem is if the subform in displaying 5 rows (for 5 customers) when i type in a ticket number for one customer, all the following rows gets and displays the same ticket number. How can i type something and let it not be repeated infollowing rows.

So say I have a table with 2 Columns:

Can a user basically search for multiple records based off of their names? Maybe by using a form where they can input those names like this:

Sophie Parker
Then the report will only display the records containing those names.

Dec 17, 2013I'm creating a database for a music store which also does music lessons. In the header I wish to display the number of lessons that are taking place each day, the number will be dynamic as the number of lessons vary from day to day. I obviously have a table with all the lessons that have already taken place, as well as lessons that are taking place in the future.
I've attached the header (isn't the final version) as an example.
