DLookup To Display Date In Text Box On A Tab Control Where Criteria Is Text Field
Apr 15, 2014I'm trying to pull a date from a table into a text box on a form tab control using DLookup and I just can't figure out what is wrong with my DLookup expression:
=DLookUp("DateOrdered","tDateOrdered","PrNumber=" & [PrNumber]) ----- (DateOrdered is short date, PrNumber is text, db is split Access 2013)
Whats missing in this expression? I've tried every criteria variant I could find but to no avail.

Display Column By User Selected Name?
Apr 18, 2007Here is my problem. I have a table with a lot of columns. I want the user to be able to select which column he wants to display in a query/report, how do I do that? Is there some kind of way to do a command
SELECT [table].[like [user input]]
either in SQL or Query Design, so that a form would pop up and ask user for input, and then display column whose name corresponds to that input.
Customizing Field Display Depending On User

I am looking for a way to customize fields to be hidden or not depending on user in forms or reports.
Any idea ?
I wanted to explore the customisation of each query but there must be an easier way to save personal parameters somehow so that the user would go through the forms and hide the non necessary fields once and we would then save somewhere these settings for each user.
Has anybody already experienced such a request ?
Display Results Between Two User Entered Dates

1)Take two user dates as input at run time, e.g by a calendar GUI selection, or even just a string
2) Then return all rows from a table where the value of the date column is between those two values?

Oct 15, 2013I am currently working on small access 2010 database where the database consists of a table and one input form. This input form will be mainly used by two persons. In the form there is a dropdown where one selects his name to keep record who entered the data, however I would like this to be according the logged in domain account. This will make sure none of them selects the wrong user by mistake.
Is there a way how get the current logged on domain account into the form ?

Here is my tables
Users (ID_User, Name)
Date_logon (Id_on, Date_logon, time_logon, Num_user#)
Date_logoff (Id_logoff, Date_logoff, time_logoff, Num_user#)
Here is a part of a query that display users date and time of log on and log off.

Then I put that result in a pivot table in Excel. In line we have time logon by date and in column we have time logoff by date.
Here is the issue : In Excel for the 4 lines above, it counts 2 logon at 4PM and 2 logon at 5PM. We should have 4.

If the user would select a value that does not match with values that can be selected if in "business" a value is selected, it should show a message that the selection is wrong and user needs to select the correct one.
Example:If in the field "Business" the value "Food" is selected, then the possible values to be selected in the combobox would be: Fruit or Meet or Fast Food. If the value in "Business" would be "Wood" only selections could be made: Talble or Chair or Cabinet.So, if a user select "Food' in "Business" and in the combo box "Chair", it should show a message that the wrong selection was made and don't let them use the wrong one.

Nov 21, 2014I have a form with multiple textboxes and comboboxes that allow for user entry, and a subform displaying a table, where the entries from the form are saved and can be retrieved. It's basically a way of creating new task entries and editing existing ones from a single interface.
One of the fields is an "issue number" of sorts, which is a 5-digit code that identifies the task. We have a website where details of each task are stored, and the URL format is akin to this: [URL] ....
The functionality that I'm hoping for is that when the user saves the record, it will be saved as the full link address, by concatenating the static first portion of the address and the code entered by the user. However, I need the table to still only display the code, not the whole link address, and will follow the full address when clicked in the subform table.

i have this small problem with my qry results not being displayed in the text box.
tbl Issues= status field and many other fields
tbl Status= Active or Closed
here is my qry
SELECT Count(Issues.Status) AS CountOfStatus
FROM Issues
GROUP BY Issues.Status
HAVING (((Issues.Status)="Active"));
I have tried typing this code on the control source of the text box
=DCount("PartNumber","Issues","Status=Active")
but it doesnt work.
All i want to do is display my results in a text box on a form.

Can't Get Text To Display On AfterUpdate

I'm having problems trying to get an If statement working on my form.
What I have is a form with two combo boxes linked to a Calendar when you click on the arrow. I can get the dates I select from the calendar into the combo boxes which works perfectly.
What I wanted to do then was create a textbox to list the number of days between each date.
I have created an If statement for me to do this, which works fine.
The problem I am having is that it doesn't seem to update these changes on the form after the date has been changed.
I have placed the code in the AfterUpdate event on both of the combo boxes and also in the Form Current Event.
Anyone any ideas?
If you want to see the If statement let me know, but I don't think it's that.

Text Box Content Won't Display
Dec 7, 2006Here's a strange one.....
We have only 4 computers in our office. Our DB backend is SQL server and due to constant corruption of the database from multiple users, each user/computer runs its own separate copy of the mdb file.
I have set up a small form in a separate database to allow me to quickly compact the DB and copy it to the 4 locations on the network instead of doing it manually. This process works fine...BUT....I have a text box on the form set up to display the copy progress and the contents of the text box do not properly display during the file copying. Even though the code to change the value of the textbox comes before the file copy command, the textbox will not display the until after the copying is finished. However, when I step debug the process it displays the information correctly before the file copy command executes.
Here is a sample of my code...

I want the Text Box to display the last value in the Version Column, which in this case is "v0.5"
