DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet Does Not Export All Fields
Jan 9, 2008
I used the DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet method to export from an Access 2003 table to Excel. The table had around 440 fields but only 230 (column iv) got exported.
Does anybody know whether there is a limitation on the number of fields that can be exported.
Bit stuck here but bet it is really stupidly simple I have the following code to export a query into a spreadsheet which worked fine but after I added the path name which is in bold it no longer works.
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel97, "NME With Company Code", C:My DocumentsTDL Update(Format(Date, "mmmm")) & "'s TDL Information", True
what am i doing wrong what I am looking for it to export this to a specific folder in my documents.
Hi All, I'm new on this forum and not that experienced in coding. I am making an export to Excel and am wondering if (and how) I can set a Fliter on output. I have a db for keeping scores for contests, this db is used by several people in diferent locations, so I would like them to export there own contest and me importing this in my own db. I need to have a complete (all contests) db for competion rankings. Thanks for replying !
I need to: Take the result of a query and export it to excel. Manipulate the data in excel. Re import the same data into a table And finally put the table into an existing form
I have succesfully created the macros to Export the data and Re-import the data
BUT I have to mannually open the spreadshhet and save it for the RE-Import to reflect the updated data from the ss.
Everything works fine except the column which contains 'Material' holds both numeric and alpha-numeric values. For example these are both material numbers: 156952 and 1238707-202. The data in this column is formatted as General. The data type for Material in tblMPSDATA is Text, 18 character length. The alpha-numeric materials are all at the end of the file. When I import, an error table is created listing the alpha-numeric materials with the error 'Type Conversion Failure'. But if I have an alpha-numeric material in the first row of data then everything is imported just fine.
I have set up a nice little popup form with a file path and command button for controlling the process of bringing in this data. I really do not want to have to add special instructions about making sure the Excel data is sorted in a certain manner prior to importing. Any thoughts on why Access is not treating everything in this column as text?
where tblTS1 - tbl where I'm putting the data filename - c: est.xls Product!A1:H100 - range of data I want in sheet Product
I am having problems w/ the "range" portion of Transferspreadsheet (I know it's this portion, because it works when I pre-name the range in Excel). I have tried all sorts of variations on the syntax:
I get the error msg: The MS Jet database engine could not find the object '$:'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly." or "Syntax error"
I wanted to mistake-proof the data transfer, so I did not want to: - predefine the range in Excel (under InsertNameDefine) - have the user enter values in text boxes
Any help w/ the syntax would be greatly appreciated!
I have been using a transferspreadsheet cmd for a while now in Access 2003, but when I recently split the database so that the table the import is going to is now linked rather than residing in the same mdb file, I get a numeric field overflow error. I manually made all the values in the import 0, converted it to text, but got the same error.
When I imported the table back into the file, rather than having it linked, the transfer worked fine.
Can you not run the transferspreadsheet command on a linked table or am I missing something?
I'm trying to export a table to .csv file, but I want fields with null values to be padded with spaces. ie. if the field length is 50, but there is a null value, I want all 50 spaces.
I am developing a basic Fault Logging system so I have a main form that allows ref to be input, date fault raised, priority, etc... I also have a sub form running that allows notes to be input. There is no set limit on the number of notes that can be added as this needs to be flexible. A relationship is set up so that the Fault reference will be tagged to each of the notes. What I need is a query (I'm guessing that is the best way to do it) that will gather all of the standard fields fromthe main form and also all of the note fields (it will need to return null values in notes fields). Preferably I would like all of the notes fields to concatenate into one field with a line break between each note. The concatenation process would have to be flexible and dynamic as there is no predetermined limit to the number of notes that will have to be joined together.
I'm relatively new to Access and having searched the forums and tried a few ideas can't find anything that I can adapt to my situation. Any ideas/guidance would be greatly appreciated!
I have a query tool that allows users to create their own custom queries. Basically, it's a form that allows the user to check boxes for the fields they want to see. The code behind it simply hides the fields in the query for which the user has not checked the box. That works very well.
My problem is I would like to have a command button that will export the query to excel. The OutputTo and TransferSpreadsheet commands will just export the whole query into excel regardless of whether or not the field is checked. I'm looking for a way to only export the columns the user has checked. Is this possible, and if not is there a workaround that would do something similar?
I have to import a table into a government database. I've got the data lined up in a table and exported to csv. The problem is that the government database doesn't allow empty fields, or the commas created by empty fields. The empty fields are create by criteria that changes with each employee. Is there a way to get rid of them without manually deleting them? I would imagine there is but can't find anything about it or maybe I don't see the forest for the trees? Sample csv below with surplus commas.
We have a report that is generated monthly to management on Excel. We Export the data from an Access query to Excel and at that time the user has to update the Month Reported and Year Reported fields on each record within that query.
Can I set up something to where the user can click a button or something and Access do all of this automatically?
Example: May 2005 was just sent out and we exported the data from the query to Excel and went back into the query and chose update query and had Access fill in May (in the month reported field) and 2005 (in the year reported field) on all of the records.
First off I apoligise if this is a clear answer. I have looked on the internet for the last two days and can't seem to find this anywhere, either that or I am just entereing the search parameters in wrong
I have filtered selection in a form which I want to export to excel.
Simple enough ;) : Created a macro with the export to command. This dus everything I want to do.
Well not quite.
How do I select the fields I want to export.Something like Select Id, name, adres from query soandso
Hopefully there is a simple solution to this. If there any existing posts. Could you post the link for me.

I have two tables identical with all text fields within the same database. One table I export as a csv, delimited with commas separating my fields and quotation text qualifiers. Where the fields are blank there are text qualifiers as well ("" - begining and ending quotations). This is what I need. The second table is exporting as a csv, delimited, commas separating the fields with text qualifier as ""- begining and ending quotations, EXCEPT the blank fields are not putting the text qualifier, and I need it.
First Table: *What I need* "142358", "PK", "15132678", "", "123.45"
Second Table: *What I need to fix and do NOT want* "142358", "PK", "15132678", ,"123.45"
I've been using a series of 5 tables to export an XML file using Access's native XML export. In order to keep the XML intact, there are relationships setup to link each sets of elements together via an ID number(link) field in each table.
Access does a great job at exporting, but then we need to rely on another program to delete these link fields that links the tables together so our XML validates. Additionally, we use this program to reorganize some of the XML, as one of our tables puts itself at the end of the XML element and not in the middle where it should be. This is not a problem when I'm dealing with a few hundred records, as the 3rd part program does the trick. The problem is when I have enough data to generate a 30+MB file that my other program chokes on when trying to manipulate the XML.
So my question is...how can I export these 5 tables to XML while omitting the linking member fields and organizing it how it should be? I have examples of code below. How Access Exports it
I am in the of designing an access 2010 database for data entry. Is it possible to create a button on a form in which a prompt asks a user for which records to export. Then depending on the entry export specific fields (First Name, Last Name, DOB) to a specific excel 2010 workbook (setup) and worksheet (template)?
For example, if the user entry is 1, only record 1: First Name, Last Name, DOB is exported to the setup.xlsx (more specifically the template worksheet of the setup.xlsx). However if 2,3,4 are entered then records,2,3,4: First Name, Last Name, DOB are exported to the setup.xlsx (more specifically the template worksheet of the setup.xlsx).
My database only has one table of data so it's not complicated.I would like to create a form that can create customisable Excel exports of the data based on set conditions and exporting only select fields. URL...I have one table of data (tblCustomers) which contains all of the fields in the box above.
I would like export the data from the table to excel showing only the fields that are ticked in the box (frmCustomReport). The check boxes are named chk then whatever the field name is eg. chkLocation, chkStatus. The labels are the names of the fields in tblCustomers. Is there a way to do this in SQL or VBA?
I am trying to develop a page where users can click on alphabets to look for a company name that starts with the selected letter. Searching through the forums i came across the method of using DoCmd.
alpha = Request.QueryString("alp") if alpha <> "" then DoCmd.ApplyFilter "", "[com_name] Like ""[" & alpha & "]*""" end if
The 'alpha' variable here holds the alphabet selected by user from another page. However, I'm getting an error message saying
Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A01F4) Variable is undefined: 'DoCmd'
Initially i tried the usual filtering
if alpha <> "" then rs.Filter = "com_name LIKE " & alpha end if
The pages are suppose to display records in 10s. But instead of showing only the records of company starting "A" (example) it shows everything.
Please kindly point me to the correct direction to solve this problem.
In an Access 2010 form is it possible to export select records and fields in those records to a specific location?
Code: Set objDialog = Application.FileDialog(4) With objDialog .AllowMultiSelect = False .Title = "Please select a File" .InitialFilename = "C:" .Show If .SelectedItems.Count = 0 Then MsgBox ("Action Cancelled") Else
[code]....
The user can select the directory using the code above, but can specific fields in records be exported to a excel workbook in that selected directory? For example, if the are 5 records in the database can the fields LastName,FirstName,BirthDate in records 1,2,3 be exported to Setup.xlsx in that selected directory?
