Dropdown Filter Forms
I’m working on building a form that has the ability to create and print a report based on the filter’s you pick.
Example:
Say you have a form with five dropdown boxes
Dropdown 1: VP’s Name
Dropdown 2: Manage <-at this drop down you will only see the Managers who report to the VP that was picked.
Dropdown 3: Supervisor at this drop down you will only see the Supervisors who report to the Manager that was picked.
If someone could direct me to the best place or help me understand how to do what I asked about that would be great.

I'm a new user with access and I'm trying to build a "Status" report based on criteria within the database.
I've setup a form where the user would choose which "Status" they want to print on the report but in all my reading
(two days worth) I can't figure out how I should accomplish this task.
I'm attaching the database and the form is "frmStatusReport". If someone could take a look at it and give me an
idea of the best possible solution, it would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe someday I can pass my knowledge on to another newbie...

I'm using a dropdown that has the months of the year in it. The user selects a month and the form is then filtered by a date if its the first of whatever month is selected. It works fine but when the filter is applied I cant select the little arrow on the column headings and select the boxes (Select All, Blank, ETC...). It doesn't work on any column, just the apply text filter works but I cant select anything.
It works fine when I clear out the filters on the form. I tried to use vba to set the menusetting property to true and that didn't work either.

I currently have a button that opens a report. the report pulls from a query that has parameters set to "fromdate" and "todate". instead of using dates and parameters that pop up as blank text boxes, I would like to click the button, have a form pop up with a combo box to select all of the options available (currently 23 options) and then click a button to make a report that only displays the record (1-23) selected. I do not need any time constraints because as the databases get updated with more records, there would be more than 23 options to choose from.

I have a form where I have two drop down list box.The first list box is called Transaction_Type. It contains three values: Created, Allocated and Sold
The second list box is called Product_Status. It contains 6 items: Allocated, Produced, Reworked, Shipped, To Be Produced, Unallocated.
I have a products form. When a user created more inventory they will selected in the drop down list create, then a quantity. Then I would like the status of the product to update to "Unallocated".
When the user placed an order but doesn't finish it they will choose the status of the inventory to be allocated so I would like the product status to be updated to allocated automatically.
They other status the user will choose them self and do not need to be linked to each other.
In my vba code I have tried with the OnClick and AfterUpdate sub procedures with the following code.
If Me.Transaction_Type.Value = "Created" Then
Me.Product_Status.Value = "Unallocated"
End If
If Me.Transaction_Type.Value = "Allocated" Then
Me.Product_Status.Value = "Allocated"
End If
Yes when i select "created" from the drop down list it does not change product_status to say "unallocated"

I am trying to put a DROPDOWN LIST BOX in a access 2003 form, NOT a combo box. I only need this so I can disallow users from manually entering data into the combo box by typing it in. I want them only to be able to choose it from a list. I think that a LISTBOX is the only way to do this, other that using a straight list box, which would use too much room. However I cannot find any way to add this to a form. Any thoughts?

i have a database
two tables: Addresses, Instructions
One form_one subform: User form
The user form contains set of instructions for each company that we take care off, the sub-form has all of the addresses for the company, these come from the "Address" table, the two are linked via a field called "companyID" so the subform only displays the addresses for the current company being viewed on the form.
The problem is, on the subform there is a dropdown box called "administrator" and this is used to select the person who is looking after the company. Some of the companies have hundreds of addresses, so when i click the next record button on the subform I have to fill in the administrator again for every address for the same company. Is there a way using vba or a simple function to auto update all of the "administrator" dropdown boxes for that company based on the administrator I select for the first address.

I have a drop-down list that when a person's first name is selected then it will fill in the person's middle and last name. Is it possible to use a name that is frequently used as the default so that it is always filled in on the form? More specifically, how will it work so that the other fields (middle name and last name) will also be filled in with the default first name? Or is this not possible to do?

In my form I have a dropdown box. There are 7 values and based on the value it will run that query in sql server. I would like to have the query open in the form instead of opening up on a different tab. Currently on the command button click there are a bunch of if statements depending on what is selected on the combo box. Each value has a query associated with it because there are 7 different sql server DB's. The code is slightly different with each query.

how I can hide a combo box or text box based on whether the form is opened in a filtered view or not?
I have a form that can be opened in a filtered view showing only that record, or an unfiltered view showing all records. I want an extra drop down selection box to show only when the form is in an unfiltered view.
I am using Access 2010.

My combobox is not working correctly. When I select one of the dropdown items in the combobox it always defaults to the 1st item on the list. I want to be able to select any of the dropdown items on the list.

I have a list of customers. [ID] on (Form1)
I click_on their name [ID] that opens a dialogue (Form2 )specific to them.
I have a table of several dates with the relevant [ID]
I want a dropdown box on Form2 that only shows the dates for that specific customer[ID]
Ive tried [Form2].[ID] in the criteria of the ID field in the query for the dropdown data source.

I have a combo box that I normally type the start of a Surname and it auto drops down from underlying database ID is now show in col count, only 1st two.
Surname Name ID
jones/k kelly 33333
smith/m max 12345
smith/m monty 98765
white/t tom 55555
smith/m will short list to the two above, I can mouse click or arrow down to the 2nd one Press enter & its knowa the corresponding ID (= surname.Column(2)) and goes to the correct record.
What I am trying to do, is from another part of my program, eg an incoming email with the corresponding Surname, Name & ID Automatically go to this main booking form, auto enter surname "smith/m" - which is fine, the list shortens but It goes to the first matching on the list, ie max.
Is there a way to get it to go to monty using the ID 98765 which is unique.
Perhaps an odd request but actually nice to book each time through this same main form, I actually also want it to do the same from incoming phone calls, It can get the unique ID ok but can see a way for the combo box to jump to the correct & only row from underlying register.
Bit worried about trying to change the underlying select statement that the combo seems to be based on, perhaps this is the way forward but not sure how to do this & don;t want to risk messing the most important & already functioning well normal entry style.

I have a form bound to a table which has 20 (name)fields and 1 date per record. A user fills in this form first to indicate which people are present this day. I know it would be better to use 1 name per record but that would in this case not work since the form must show all names for that day before saving and closing.
I have a different form where I use 4 combo boxes and a date field. The values that can be selected in the combo boxes should come from the 20 names on the first form and with the same date as the other form. So only 4 people of the 20 indicated as present on that day can be selected to have performed some task.
I know how to select with a combo box from different records, but how would I do it from different fields in the same record? And then also for a particular date?

I am currently developing an app with MS-access. I need two drop boxs on the same form. First is states and second is cities. When user selects one state from the first dropdown box, the second dropdown box will only display the cities that in the selected state. Is that possible by using ms-access??

I have a continuous form based on table "INCOMES" that shows all the payments received, which mediums can be (field "PMNT_MEDIUM"):
- check
- transfer
- taxes
- cash
Table "INCOMES" is filled using another form, but in this particular form I just want to show "check", "transfer" and "cash" (not "taxes") so that I can track all the cash incomes.
Note: taxes are loaded because they appear in my invoices and I need them there to reach the invoice total amount.So my form has a search bar which allows me to search by PMNT_MEDIUM listing all "checks", all "cash" or all "transfer". I can also search by payment number (meaning: check number). To that end I have a "search" button that applies the filter. And I have another button that "cleans" the filtering by "putting a "" in the search-bar and then calling the "on click" of the search button".
What I need is, no matter if I click over the "search" or "clean" button, it NEVER shows me the "taxes".Search button, on click code:

I have a form that is showing data from 1 table. That table has 12 different fields on it and I want to be able to filter based on selections I make in a combo box in the header of the form. The filter string must be dynamic enough to allow filtering based on 1 criteria selected, or multiple criteria selected. For example:
If I have values in filter fields 3, 5, and 9 I'd want the filter string to be created as follows:
"...WHERE field3 = field3filter.value AND field5 = field5filter.value AND field9 = field9filter.value"
If I have values in only field 7, I'd want th efilter string to be created as follows:
"...WHERE field7 = field7filter.value"
And so on and so on.
I have created some filters before but all of the different VBA syntaxes I'm using seem to come up short.

I must create a database for the company that I work for that covers the maintenance history of our stone crusher plant. In this database I have two dropdown lists. The first one is for the equipment and the second one is for the different types of parts that has to be replaced or fixed.
Not all of the equipment uses all of the listed parts, but some parts are used on more than one type of equipment.
I have already created a database that lists all the equipment and another one that lists all the parts.
What I want to do now is create a Yes/No box for each type of equipment so I can mark which parts is used by which equipment.
Then you must be able to select the type of equipment from a dropdown list and then select from a dropdown list that only has the parts that is used by the piece of equipment.

I am using MS Acess2000 and need to make a report that will be passed around with production work. My primary key is the invoice number of the work order. Currently to open an invoice i have a macro, attached to a query with the following qualifiers; Like [Enter invoice]
This pulls up the current record fine.
for the form and flags the folloing in the property filter sectin of the form
(((([CustomerTableMasterRef].[Invoice]) Like [Enter invoice])))
PART 2
Now I am trying to use microsofts how to filter a report using a forms filter...
This picks up on the Invoice query as shown above but does not just insert the query results...
Is there better code or another way to approach this... Currently i am using:

Using this code not only does my report not detect the correct fields to import data (no data is filled in) but it requerys the invoice or atleast should, which I could do with out all of that code...

I have placed a filter button on a form as a filter and written the following on-click event procedure:
DoCmd.SetWarnings False
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdApplyFilterSort
Me.Filter = "ACCOUNT_DO_NOT_EMAIL = 'HS'"
Me.FilterOn = True
When I click the filter button I get a blank message box titled 'Microsoft Access" and an OK button, when closed the filter works perfectly.I have checked this procedure in other forms and it works without showing the blank message box.The only difference with this form is that its control source is a union query.

I have a bit of a problem with a database in Access 2013. On 1 of the forms, I have a number of buttons which open other forms and filter the results using an embedded macro. All has been well until a few days ago when error 2950 pop up box started appearing. After fiddling around for a while it all works OK (without actually changing anything) until next time the database is opened. I checked to make sure the location is "trusted" and all seems OK.

Can any kind person show me how to fix my problem - of how to view a filtered form based on a subform value ?
I have built a subsection of my database - attached.
I am a beginner - I cannot write code - but if some one were to fix this for me, I could transport the code or the macro into my real database.
The main form is called 'Deals'. The subform is called 'Sectors'. What I am trying to do here is use the dialogue box to input parameters of Start Date, End date, and Sector - to press the view button to display a filtered set of Deals.
I have managed it for the Dates - but I cannot do it for the Sector, either by a query, a macro, or my attempts to learn SQL.
Perhaps someone could fix this - and post it back.
By the way, the dates are in "mmm yyyy" format, so you just type in "3 2003" etc.

Hi all,
I am very new to Microsoft Access, and hope somebody can help me. Apologies for what I am sure is an easy subject - but I dont know what keywords to search on!
Basically, I need to have a drop list of say 5 different products. Now depending on the product will lead to different field boxes (say each product has 15 fields, 10 which are the same, but 5 which are unique to each product). I basically want the form to change dependent upon the product type. As I say I am very sketchy on this, so feel free to treat my like an idiot! If anyone could give me a hint as to what help topic this relates to, or give me a brief overview of what to do, that would be very much appreciated. The information will be downloaded from an ODBC if that makes any difference.

I'm pulling my hair out. I'm making a seemingly simple tex book database.
I have 2 tables. AuctionItems and AuctionBidders. I have three forms. One to enter AuctionItems, one to enter AuctionBidders, and one to enter Transactions. The AuctionItem Table has a column for the winning bidders ID WinningBidderID.
On the Transaction form I list the acution item data and also want to put a listbox that allows the user to choosed the AuctionBidder that won this auction.
I cant figure out how to make this listbox. IIn the listbox dropdown, I want it to show the Bidders last name, first name, etc in the listbox, but then store only that persons BidderID in the AuctionItems table field WinningBidderID. I also want to display the bidders information on this form once selected. I cant figure this these things! Its driving me crazy.
Can someone give me some help or link me to an example database?

I am having a small issue with using the .dropdown command. I am using a combobox as a search tool with the code Me.combo107.dropdown in the On Change Event. I am using the Not In list property set to yes to trigger a custom message box stating that the number is not a valid project. If the project is on the list and you hit the enter key, code in the after update event sets the focus to another field on a seperate tabbed page.This works fine if you hit enter to select the project. The problem I am having is when a project that is on the list is selected using the mouse click instead of hitting enter, the focus is set properly to the next page, but I get the following error: Run time error '2185' . You can't reference a property or method for acontrol unless the control has the focus.
I was able to get it wo work better by putting the me.combo107.dropdown code on the Keypress event. The problem I have with this method is that if the code is not on the list, the dropdown box covers the custome error message that is triggered in the not in list event. I tired doing some setfocus code before the message box triggers, but it doesn't seem to want to move. Any help would be much appreciated.
