I have a number of linked tables that vary depending on use. How to delete them or drop them all from the database? I produced/stole some code that deleted all tables - but it didn't delete the linked ones.
My table (excel spreadsheet) sits on another directory from the DB. If I delete the table on this directory and immediately replace it with a table with the same filename, format, etc (only the data has changed) will each database user have to relink the table on their desktop DB? Or will the forms/subforms/reports still maintain their relationships/functions and just display the new data?
i'm trying to drop importerror tables with code, but this isn't working
i am not sure if its to do with unusual characters in the import errors tables ( error tables generated by access when importing spreadsheets etc
any ideas why the code fails
error 3295 - syntax error
'drop errors tables first tdfdrop = 0 For Each tdf In CurrentDb.TableDefs If InStr(1, tdf.Name, "ImportErrors") > 0 Then tdfdrop = tdfdrop + 1 sqlstrg = "drop table " & tdf.Name DoCmd.RunSQL sqlstrg End If Next tdf If tdfdrop > 1 Then Call MsgBox("Dropped: " & tdfdrop & " importerror tables")
I working on a Project in which I have a table that is being updated from the values in another table. The problem that the table is deleted and rebuilt in code before the Query is executed. Access is so smart, it drops the links between the tables when the table is deleted even if the query isn't open.
To get around this, I recreate the SQL in Code for the Named Query involved just before I execute it. This works OK but probably creates bloat and is a little slower.
Is there a better way around this problem other than recreating the SQL for the Update Query each time?
I have a database that links to an excel sheet and take data from it. For a fail safe i put deletes in several places in case of user error to make sure the sheet is deleted. If it is already deleted the other deletes don't act well.
I need to write a conditional iff statement that if it doesn't exist it ignores the delete call. Not sure how to structure it.
Private Sub Command3_Click() DoCmd.DeleteObject acTable, "Sheet1" DoCmd.Close acForm, "District Select Form" End Sub
I have created some queries that are joined on long text fields (80-120 characters). I can save the query in the graphic query design window. But when I reopen the window I get messages that the Joins have been deleted. I cannot find any references to this issue. Does anyone have experience or info on this?
I don't need a lecture about the use of long text fields in Query Joins. And yes I have used Search first.
I am trying to create a query based on two tables with a many to many relationship.
The basic sketch of this relationship is one table has our employee information and the other has the phone information. Employees share some phone numbers so it has to be many to many and I have an employee_phone linking table.
When I create a query, I have no records in my phone or my employee_phone tables, but my employee table has a full list of employees. I want to use the query to enter the phone numbers in for existing employees, however when I put in the employee's name and then add the phone information, it creates a new record in the employee field. I just want it to tie new phone information to existing employee records.
If anyone can help me with this, I would be very greatful! Thanks
Please could you advise me if tables have to be linked in order to perform a query on multiple tables? For example searching for a date and matching records on more than one table at the same time.
Can we have two tables linked to one search query? I've some data that is confidential and woul like to have them in two different table. When I search for it using query form, only the relevant table results will be shown?
Table1 has a record of unique tasks. Table2 has a list of people to do those tasks
They are linked by a Unique_ID (one to many - Table1 to Table2).Sometimes there can be an instance where there are Unique_ID's in Table2 but the reference Unique_ID is missing from Table1.
I have a select query that can show me these like so.
table2 table1 Unique_ID Unique_ID Like * Not Like *
I can open the query and simply delete the records fine however i wish to automate this. What I want to do is delete the unrefenced Unique_ID's from table2.I have tried to just convert this select query into a delete query but it asks me which table I wish to delete and I cannot see where to enter this information.
I have a database with a number of linked tables that are linked to tables in different databases (not a back-end).for example, I have table1 that is linked to table1 in K:databasedb1.mdb.table2 linked to table2 in S:datadata.mdb.and so on...
However, recently we have moved all our databases to a new location.
K:databasedb1.mdb is now residing in O:masterdatabase and S:datadata.mdb is now residing in O:masterdata and so on...
I'm now in charge of relinking all those tables to point to the new location.I would do this in linked table manager one by one but we have 100s of tables linked to multiple different databases in different location.is there a way to create a VBA code that will automatically do this re-linking process?
so, 1. find unlinkable tables 2. search its new location under O:master 3. re-link it to the new location
Database names and tables names have not been changed. Just the location of databases.
Hi everybody. I got a query that displays object name and object type of access 2000 db. Unfortuenly it dose not display the linked tables objects(linked to tables in acccess 2000 db). could an expert tell me how i can fix this query so it displays linked tables object as well. Thanks
SELECT MsysObjects.Name AS ObjectName, IIf([type]=1 Or [type]=6,"Table","Query") AS ObjectType FROM MsysObjects WHERE (((Left$([Name],1))<>"~") AND ((Left$([Name],4))<>"Msys") AND ((MsysObjects.Type)=1 Or (MsysObjects.Type)=5 Or (MsysObjects.Type)=6) AND ((MsysObjects.Flags)=2097152 Or (MsysObjects.Flags)=128 Or (MsysObjects.Flags)=0 Or (MsysObjects.Flags)=16)) ORDER BY MsysObjects.Name;

I have two tables "Master List" and "Audit". I want to delete the records from the "Master" that match those in the "Audit". I am using Access 2010 and have used it often but have built very few queries.
My report produces multiple copies of the same record. I know why, but don't know how to fix it.
EmployeeTable.
With a one to many relationship with TrainingTable (via employee PK as FK in trainingtable).
Training table has a one to many relationship with a table called Range.
Report is based on a query that picks up the Employee/Training/Range (range just describes the training unit).
However, If I have more than one range expressed organized a training unit, the report spits out several copies of the Employee record to display all the ranges.
 I am Developing a simple VBA program for Access for my final year of my Degree and I have come up with a problem that I don’t seem to be able to fix.
Hi i have a lot of linked table that i want to delete I have the macro below that deletes one at a time but i have to put in the name is there a way to delete all the ones that end in _cfd_posting as before this name there is a six digit number but these r all different is this possible
Sub delete() DoCmd.DeleteObject acTable, "060204_cfd_postings" End Sub
In my program you are allowed to make backups of the current databases to an external file. It also allowes you to get the tables back from one of those files. At least it should.
I thought this wouldn't be a biggy. I thought I'd just delete my current tables and replace them with "docmd.tranferdatabase" acImport.
But the stupid thing wont let me delete its tables because they are connected to each other. Can I somehow delete the link before deleting them?
If so will the links be there again once I restore the tables from the backup? Or do I need to reconnect them somehow to each other.
Or maybe another approach would be to import them without deleting the original ones. Thus the new ones get the same name of the original ones + "1" or something. Than I delete all records from all my original tables. And refill them with all the records from the new ones (the + "1"-ones) And delete the new ones. And if I would do that, would it be best to use AcImport or AcLink (from docmd.tranferdatabse)
I was wondering if there is a way in selecting all tables and deleting at one go instead of selecting one by one. Perhaps a little bit of programming. Tx in adv
I had a database that wasn't normalised but after some (a lot of) help here it now is. I have quite a few records that need to come accross to the new database and I was wondering:
I can drop the NAME/JOB_TITLE/BASE information in OK but can I place the trainig done for each staff member in? I was thinking that if I dropped the details in the TRAINING_DONE table and manually entered the STAFF_NO which is the primary key, would that work?
I am trying to make a database for a shop which can do several things:
1) I want to give in what is being bought by the shop to make their products form. This has to be saved in a table named STOCK.
2) I want to be able if I say in a form that from these things I made that product that these things dissapear from the STOCK table and that the final product is added to the STOCK.
3) If the final product is solled I want to remove it from stock.
In the end if I want to see what is still in the stock I will only have the things that are still there because the rest is removed.
Having searched the last couple of days, I am unable to find a resolution to this problem. If it has been answered already, a simply link or thread name would be appreciated. If not, help is greatly appreciated.
I have code running that imports data from a .txt file into a table.however, on some days there will be errors importing some of the data. I have found that from the last three months, there has been no data of consequence lost so, I don't care about the data errors. However, any time there is an error with the import it creates a table that is named for example:
01-03-05 Auth_ImportErrors
where "01-03-05 Auth" is the name of the file imported. So each time they import a file, a new table is created. Is there any code that I can run that can automatically delete these tables upon exit?
