I'm having a problem and I just wondered if anyone could help,
I have a query that returns about 9000 records, and one of the fields in each record is for a telephone number. There are no complete duplicates of each record but if a record has a duplicate telephone number field I need it to be removed. Does anyone have any ideas?
I have a table called Department. One employee may belong to more than one department. So I created three tables, Emptable, Depttable, and DeptDatatable. The Emp table and The dept table both have a primary key. Emp# in Emptable to Emp# in Dept Data Table. Dept# in Depart Table Primary key to foreign key in Dept# key in Dept Data Table. In other words:
Employee One to Many Department Data both using Emp# Department One to Many to Department Data both using Department#
I have created a form for data entry for the young lady that enters the data. Right now, there are two entries in the department data for any employee that belongs to more than one department. My question is how do I create a form that allow the person that is entering data to only enter the employee in once and enter multiple values into the department field. How would it create then two entries into the Dept Data Table? I have been reading up about fields that allow duplicate data but this treats the fields like memo fields. I need to draw queries from Departments, so not sure if that would work. I also need the Department to be a list that they choose from.
I have a table that contains doctor information including their license number. This came from a worksheet that tracked referrals from last season. I need a query that will show me only those record that have a unique MD License number. In other words I only need to see the 5-600 doctors out of the 2420 referrals in the table. Once I get the query of unique MD's I can create a report for the salesmen to use to contact them for the upcoming year. I know this is probably simple but I can't find the solution. Thanks in advance.
I currently have a field on a form thats indexed (no duplicate values). What I want, is if the user types a existing social in the field, that it lets them know the social is in use and that the record will not save.
I believe this will have to use the before update event for my pSocialSecurity control and that I will need to use the DCount function.
I have a tblManualRewardIncident in there I have 3 fields I want to have my staff in put these rewards via a frmRewardIncidentEntry However im concerned over another staff member in putting the same data so I want the form to highlight on update that a duplicate is there already so cancel the data entry.
The 3 fields that need to check and match are StrataID , DateOfIncident , EndDateOfIncident these are all in the tblManualRewardIncident and appear as buttons in the form frmRewardIncidentEntry the buttons are as follows cboStrataID , txtDateOfIncident , txtEndDateOfIncident
I want the VBA to run when I CLICK another button on same form cboSQCDP..All 3 fields must match exactly to flag a issue.
StrataID , DateOfIncident , EndDateOfIncident from tblManualRewardIncident
If it doesn't find a match continue and add the inputs in these boxes to the table if it finds a match flag a message and delete the data from the form.
I added a new field to a table, and saved the table. When the table is reopened, the new field is not there! I thought perhaps I forgot to save the field, so I tried adding the field again. When saving, the error said, "cannot save; duplicate field name".
If I go to toolsoptions and click the "show system objects" the field will show up??
Do you think the best course of action is to import all the objects into a new db and try again?
Hi, I have a cross-ref table (called MFC_CIBC_XREF) which links a bank account to a fund number and a general ledger number. It should be a unique relationship, wherein (the "=" means corresponds/links to)
Bank Account # "=" Fund #
For each bank account, there are sometimes multiple currencies being used, so each currency then links to a general ledger account, such that
Bank Account #.Currency = Fund #.General Ledger #
Sorry, if that's kinda cryptic, but here's an example:
Bank Account - ABCD123 Currencies operated in - CAD, USD Fund # - F30
Based on the above, ABCD123 "=" F30, and including the general ledger numbers, ABCD123.CAD "=" F30.100, ABCD123.USD "=" F30.8121.
Basically, it's a way to keep track of not just the transactions for a particular bank account, but for the transactions in a particular currency.
Anyway, as I said, it's supposed to be a 1-to-1 relationship: each BankAccount.Currency should correspond to 1 and only 1 Fund.GeneralLedger. However, there are some entries in the table which have each BankAccount.Currency corresponding to multiple General Ledger numbers. Using my example above, ABCD123.CAD has two records in the table, one corresponding to F30.100, and another corresponding to F30.8101. This was probably because F30.8101 used to be linked to a different bank account, that got merged (ie, it might have been linked to ABCD124.CAD that then got merged into ABCD123.CAD).
Now I want to run a query on MFC_CIBC_XREF and find all the records where for each BankAccount.Currency, there is more than one Fund.GeneralLedger. I don't really know that much SQL, and even in Design View, I'm not sure of the statements to use. Any help is much appreciated.
I'm pretty new to Access, so please overlook any stupid questions :) I have a data entry form that has one field that cannot be a duplicate. So, in the table I have it Indexed with No duplicates. The problem is that the form doesn't notify the user that they have entered duplicate information until they close the form. So the 10 minutes they spent filling it out is wasted. So, after consulting various posts, I did a BeforeUpdate event with the following code: (the field that must be unique is called "LS Number", in the form "Q and D" based on the table "Q and D Database")
Private Sub LS_Number_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) On Error GoTo LS_Number_BeforeUpdate_Err
If (DLookup("[LS Number]", "Q and D Database", "[LS Number]=Forms![Q and D]![LS Number]")) Then MsgBox "The LS Number you entered already exists. Enter a unique LS Number", vbInformation, "Duplicate LS Number"
When I test this by entering a duplicate LS Number, it gives me the error "Type Mismatch." Unfortunately, I have no idea what this means, nor do I know how to fix it.
How can I create an alert message to tell the user that there are an existing work order number in the table? I don't want it to restrict the entry, just inform the user that there is an existing work order number, do they want to continue.
Btw, the code will be attached to a combo box (cbowonum).
I have a simple database that I put my execptions in for the day for scanning. Is there a way that my serial field on my forum can check to see if someone already scanned that serial for that day using the "On Lost Focus" event.
I have a table for storing vehicles. The table contains the following fields:
VehicleID Make Model Trim Build Date Begin Build Date End
Vehicle Name - a concatenation of 'Make' 'Model' 'Trim' 'Build Date Begin' and 'Build Date End'
The 'Vehicle ID' is the primary key, the rest of the fields can't be indexed with no duplicates. Is there a way of preventing one from saving a duplicate VehicleName on the table since it is a calculated field.
I have a competition ranking contestants. A contestant can compete multiple times, each time with a unique registration number.
I am trying to sort by score to rank the contestants, however the contestants can only receive one rank - their highest score (not a sum of their scores, only one score). ? ?
Example: Registration Name Score 2345 Sally 247 3456 George 230 4672 Sally 255
What I want to see: 4672 Sally 255 3456 George 230
I would like to know what the best way to input a duplicate record is with the exception of 1 field that is used to correspond with the proper parent of the record?
Here is an example of the problem, We receive a letter with pertinent information that corresponds to 30 of our facilities. I would need to enter this 30 times so that when the users of this information run their reports for their facility I can ensure that the letter would be referenced.
We are working on an Access (2007) database that is on a SharePoint Site (2007).
Currently the form is operational, but there is one last thing that would be nice to have.
The table is "Updated Headcount" which contains "EMP_ID" which are unique numbers stored as text.
In the event a new employee is entered in the system by another user on this site we would like to prevent any duplicate "EMPID"s from being entered and saved on the SharePoint, we would also like to alert the user and prevent the data from being saved.
All data is currently bound, so once the user makes a change it is made, no submit button is required.
We are running into some difficulties in doing a dlookup from the value entered and comparing to a column in the table.
TABLE - UPDATED HEADCOUNT COLUMN in UPDATED HEADCOUNT - EMPID FORM CELL user will input an EMPID - newEMPID FORM CELL used for a dlookup to compare what user has entered to what is already in the table - duplicateEMPID
So below is what we are trying to do, we are sure there are a few commands missing....
I have a code that works great from the parent form but I decided to change the format and call it from a lostfocus event in the subform instead. Now I keep getting error 3314:"You must enter a value in the tbGuests.LastName field".
The code should copy the parent form fields and create x number of duplicate records according to a field on sub-form. It then runs an append query to add the information from the subform.
Code:
Private Sub GuestsInParty_LostFocus() Dim partymsg As Integer Dim dbs As dao.Database, rst As dao.Recordset Dim F As Form Dim intHowMany As Integer Dim intCounter As Integer
I'm able to import new data from excel just fine, but I can't import updated data from excel due to duplicates not being allowed for a particular field. Is there a way to keep from importing duplicate records based on one field, but still import data from other fields where the information is different from the excel file?
create an expression in the Validation section to prevent duplicate entries in a field. Please view Powerpoint file on slide 1 on attachment for More detail instructions. Instructions are in simple Text and images which makes it easy to understand. I am using Access 2003.
I have a table with duplicate rows. How do I de-duplicate the table so that there are no duplicates and find out how many duplicates there were in the table.
Please i am trying to create a form that will keep records of perspnnel but i want a situation whereby if someone enters a last name and first name that is already in the record, the database should send a message telling the user that such a name exists.
 I have got to create a car hire db for a course i'm doing. I have a vehicle table I have a customer table I have to be able to book more than one vehicle to a customer. I tried putting vehicleID into my appointments table twice but that is wrong. Any solution would be great.
