Duplicates In Report / Query Due To Form And Subform
Jul 10, 2013
I have tbl_Proj, tbl_Notes, and tbl_Proj_City. They are all joined by the tbl_Proj's ID.I have a set list in tbl_City - tbl_Proj_City is 3 columns an ID for itself, tbl_City ID and tbl_Proj ID...In instances where a project covers more than one city, when I generate a report (or query) for that project I get each notes that number of times. If a project is in 3 cities I get each note 3 times.
I have a project entry form with a combobox subform for the city selection. The report is from a qry, by Proj_ID, I need to show the cities - the "key" city is the first alphabetically (also lowest via autonumber in City_ID). I would like to add that I do not know SQL. I have created this database using access commands.
I am thinking that I may be able to query the project ID for the Cities and somehow select the first alphabetically or the lowest in ID and store that somewhere? and then run a query that uses that and the notes to generate the report and then have a sub report for the other cities?
I have a form that is pulling data from a previous days transactions but most (not all) transactions are duplicated.
I created this form a couple of years ago and have not modified it for about 3 months and nobody else has made any changes. When I look at the query that the form is pulling nothing is duplicated. When the Recordset type is Dynaset (Inconsistent Updates) I get 94 records, when I change it to Dynaset, then I get the correct count of records of 80.
I have the following set up on a form to pull together a query (by form) and resulting report:
Publication Sector Product Region
Each publication can have multiple sectors/products/regions. The resulting query therefore duplicates the publication, for example:
Publication 1 Sector 1 Product 1 Region 1 Publication 1 sector 2 product 1 region 1 publication 1 sector 2 product 2 region 1
etc etc...
The report ONLY has publication on it, but as it is based upon the query utilising the 4 factors above, the resulting report is: Pub 1 Pub 1 Pub 1 Pub 2 etc
I want the report to only list the publications once - i have tried "hide duplicates" from the form field properties, however this hides the text but leaves a big gap on the resulting report when generated where the duplicate would be if it were not hidden.
There must be a simpler way to acheive this than getting another query to create a table based on the first query which (the table) only includes the publication name, and is filtered to remove duplicates through a primary key...
I have a simple database. an articles table, authors table, categories table, not much else.
So one article can have many categories. To manage this, I have my 'articles' table (pk autonumber ID, plus other fields), a 'categories' table (pk autonumber ID, txt description), and I created a linking table 'article categories' autonumber ID, number articles (related to article ID in article table) and number categories (related to category ID in categories table)
Then I made a form for articles, with a subform for categories (taking the category field from the categories table).
1st problem - the category field in the subform appears as a text box, not a drop down list of category descriptions. I deleted it and added manually a combo box with the category field from the categories table as control source, telling it to store the value in the field 'category' in the 'article categories' linking table. This gives me the drop down list.
2nd problem - I select one category in the subform, when I try to select a second, it tells me "The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again."
I checked the fields in the 'article categories' table and they are not set to 'no duplicates'.
The strange thing seems that I can enter this ok in the table, just not the subform.
I know this problem has already been discussed here, but I could not find an answer to my case in the previous posts, so I apologise if this is repetitive.
I think this is simple but I am a novice...
I tried to attach the database to this - both normal and then zipped but it says 'invalid file' (it is only 1mb).
A report with multiple lines with name. I have chosen the 'Hide Duplicate' option on the name text box and when the report is printed all is well. However in the display prior to printing when the print option popup is present no name are shown. Some simple setting?
OK, first time posting so I'll try to be clear here. I work for a special education agency and have created a database to track student/therapist information. Now, I have reports showing which kids are in which schools and who their therapists are. What I can't figure out is how to print a report, grouped by school, that will display which therapists are active in that school.... any ideas?
On the report I use the group function on a field called assemble part number and select no duplicates in the property field . so I don't get that part number on every line below that group.
When I print the report it gives me the assembly part number on every line can the report be printed without it on every line just the group line.
I have a form with a subform in it and I would like to print the contents of that form to a report. I am able to print now, using a "print" command button, but it only prints one record, just the one that is being displayed. I want to be able to print a report with all the records that are in the filtered result.
Also, when the press the "print" button I would like to give them an option "Print this record?" "Print All records?". depending on the input, it would print the report.
Can someone please help me with this? Much appreicated. Thanks.
Ref# Rev 97 b 98 c 99 c 99 e 100 c 100 b 101 a 102 b
I need to create a simple report but remove the duplicates (ex. Ref# 99,100). I need to delete the older Rev's (Ex Ref# 99 Rev C, Ref# 100 Rev B).Is this done throughRecordsets? will an SQL query do the trick?
I am trying to save my form that i have created as a report by right clicking on the form and choosing save as report. However, my form includes a subform but the subform does not show up in the report. Any ideas as to why this and how it can be shown????
How do i create a report that is linked to my sub-form that i have just sorted in a different form? let's say i have a form named View Records and on that form i have added a subform that is linked to my Employee Table, and then on that View records form i have added a few combo box in order to sort the data on my subform on that form, now what i want to do is that, i want to link those data that i just sorted on my subform and transfer it to a report.
I'm trying to create a report that contains data from a "main" form and a subform. However, I can't get the main form data to populate no matter what I try. I've been through all sorts of queries and just can't get it to work. The main form and subform are both separate tables, and there are no redundant fields.
Basically, the main form is an inventory of assets, and the subform is designed as a way to submit trouble tickets when one of those assets requires maintenance or repair.
I know there is no more than 4 dups of each record.
what i want from this is a table that will give me a record of how many dups for each record then all the dates that they were added and the date between each record entry.
I have a main form (Parent) along with a subform(Children). I want to have a button that generates a report with the Parent information as a header and the items in the subform as details. In addition, I want the report to show only the children that were recently added not all of the children.
Hey, all! Thanks for helping, here is my situation.
I have a table with about 70,000 records that have duplicate Address field values. The rest of the field values for those records are different. When I do a find duplicate querry I get the result that 17,000 records have the same address. However, when I do the append qurrey as instructed here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=209183 I get a total of only 600 records in the new table. I have tried deleting all of the indexes for both the new and old table, with no luck.
I'm using Access 2000 on XP Pro.
If anyone could help with this I would greatly appreciate it!
I have a table in a healthcare patient database that stores Admitting Number, Scan Number, Last Name, and some other fields detailing the scan. Each patient can have multiple scans and I'm trying to design a query that lists how many scans each patient has had by finding all the duplicate admitting numbers. I'm using this SQL statement:
SELECT MultScans.Admitting_Number, Count(MultScans.Admitting_Number) AS Num_Of_Scans FROM MultScans GROUP BY MultScans.Admitting_Number HAVING (((Count(MultScans.Admitting_Number))>1));
which works fine but I can't figure out how to also print out the last name, scan number and the other fields in this query. If I add the field to the select part it says I can't because the expression is not part of the aggregate function and if I add the expression to the 'group by' the query runs but displays all the duplicates. Thanks for any help.
Please help. I am having difficulty understanding why a subform is showing duplicates despite using SELECT DISTINCT for its query. I have looked all over the forum but am still quite confused.
I think my database is normalised but this may be the problem and can attach it if necessary.
My query is as follows
SELECT DISTINCT StudentAndCourse.ClassID, StudentAndCourse.LevelID, StudentAndCourse.StudentID FROM [Level] INNER JOIN (Class INNER JOIN StudentAndCourse ON Class.ClassID=StudentAndCourse.ClassID) ON Level.LevelID=StudentAndCourse.LevelID;
Any help would be most appreciated as I cannot understand what is going wrong.
Hello, I am just wondering whether there is any way I could run a simple query that would pull all the data I need and inform me of the duplicates if there is any.
I have a query linking 2 tables. The idea of the query was to show our longest serving customers. The one table contains CustNo, Address details, etc and the second table contains AccNo, CurrBal, AccType, CustNo, etc etc. (note the bold fields are the primary keys). However this is bringing back results on account level rather than customer level, i.e CustNo 3 might Have AccNo xxxxxx, AccNo xxxxx1, AccNo xxxxxx2. How do I get it to show the 'oldest' account for each customer. So it will only show each customer once and that customers oldest account. Heres the SQL for the query. Hope someone can help. Thanks
I've been researching and reading about how to eliminate duplicates in my Query, but all the suggestions don't seem to work. Here is my problem:
I want to create a Query with information from 2 Tables. Ultimately, I want my Query to be a malining list that I will be sending requests to. But, I want only the names, addesses, etc. of the people who fit certain criteria (info. stored in several different fields of the two tables). So, if a person matches two of my specified criteria, they appear twice in my query. Or if they fit all the criteria, they might appear 5 or 6 times. I want each name and address to show up once, even though the person may fit into several criteria. Does this makes sense?
I've tried typing "DISTINCT" after "SELECT" in SQL, but that didn't do anything. I've also tried changing the "Unique Values" to YES, but that didn't work either.
Sorry if it's unclear, but I am very new to Access! :(
Hello I've created a query that finds duplicate records in a table. I've also made a form based on that query that shows some fields of the duplicate recoeds found. In that form there's also a textbox that counts the records found (using the count([field]) function). Everything works perfectly when there are duplicate records. However, when there are no duplicates , I'd like the textbox value to be 0 (it shows nothing now obviously because the query returns no records), as long as some other actions to be performed. How can I check (in the vb code or somehow else) if the query returns no records as a result ? Thanks in advance
Field AMOUNT1 and AMOUNT 2 can have the same data and I need to run a query which will return records with similar data in both fields. Both fields are text (5 characters) and the match has to be done on the first four characters.
Please note that I have tried with a Find Duplicates query but does not seem to return all the records with showing the same data probably to the fact the the last character is different.
Hi all, I've got a database with a members table and an events table and a participation table which is like an 'intermediary table' which just has fields for MemberID_fk and EventID_fk.
The form at the moment has a combo box for Members and a combo box for events. This works well but the problem with it is that there is no safeguards to prevent a member from joining the same event many time.
Ideally i'd like for the combo box of events to be updated once the member's been selected to only include events the member has not signed up for.
If anyone's got any suggestions i'd love to hear them. The only constraint i have is that this has to be prevented when it is entered in the form.
I am running a query to return records from a table. I want to eliminate records from the query if the values contained in one field are duplicated. I have tried using the DISTINCT keyword but it only works if the entire record is unique or if I was retieving just one field
I am using a combo box to assign gun numbers on an employee form (frmemployees). I also have a query listing only the gun numbers that have been assigned. When I select a gun from my combo box, I what to evaluate if it is already on the gun assignment query. That way I cannot assign the same gun to two different people. I am using the before_update event to do this. The code that I am using is as follows:
Private Sub intgunNumber_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
If DLookup([intgunNumber], "qrygunassignmentcurrent", Me.intgunNumber) = Me.intgunNumber Then MsgBox "Item # is already listed.", vbOK, "DUPLICATE FOUND" Cancel = True End If
"me" represents my frmemployees form. The problem is that it's causing an event even for the numbers that aren't listed on the query. I am trying to get the evaluation correct but am having difficulties. All the fields are numeric fields. :(
I have a Duplicates Query that extract the following information from my Table
Name Surname DOB Joined
The query then extracts info such as...
Bill Smith 25:12:70 1999 Bill Smith 25:12:70 2005
Most of the time the 'Joined' field has the same year. But I need to find the ones where the year differs but the rest of the information is exactly the same. Because there is 15000 odd records to check, I thought that there would be a quicker way to check.
Could someone please assist me with this query if it is possible?
