Dynamically Change SourceDatabase Property Of A Query

Access 2003:

I have a query (qryGetRemoteStuff) like this:SELECT * FROM Table1 IN 'k:projectssomedatabase.mdb'I have several databases where i use this technique. I don't want to link these tables to my database.
According to the properties list, "Source Database" is used to store this path to my remote database.
So far so good.
When the path changes i am in a lot of trouble, that is why i want to change the path of this query dynamically. I don't seem able to change this property.

Is this possible? How?

Immediate window:
?currentdb.QueryDefs("qryGetRemoteStuff").Properties("SourceDatabase")Returns "Property not found". Access help F1 doesn't provide me with a workable example.

Change Color Of A Combo Box...dynamically

What I want is in the combo box, I have a couple of options, say 1,2 and 3.
And I want the combo box to come up with different color when different option is selected.

I thought I have found out a way, with the following code to onClick:

If me.field.text = "1" Then me.field.backcolor = 255

The problem is, it's being shown on a continuous form.
And it changes the color on all the records. not just the one I am on.

Any thoughts?

Dynamically Change Form Data

Hey all,

I've tried to find this on my own, but without luck. I have a Microsoft Access form that I've build. The data is pulled from tables I built. There is a "User" dropdown, an "Email" field and a "Phone Ext." field. I'd like to set it up so that when the "User" dropdown triggers an On Change event, the "Email" field and the "Phone Ext." field automatically update with the appropriate data (all from the same table). Can anyone help me with this?

I am trying to change dynamically the text of the PivotChart, according to the current filter. This is a user request. The VBA code should run whenever the view is changed to pivotchart. I'm im Access 2007

This is my code so far:

This generates an error:
Runtime error '-2147467259 (80004005)':
Cannot change chart attributes in an event handler

I am stuck. Is there any way around? I have placed a button to the datasheet view of the form to take users to PivotChart view. I can change the chart title from the code of that button. But I can't prevent users from using the built in ribbon button for pivotchart view, so I need to run this code from an event.

How Do I Change Data In Property Mode

I have created a form in access 2000. I now want to change the table that this form uses. Normally I would just click the properties tab and then select data, a list of all tables would come up and I would choose the correct table. For some reason I cannot access the data tab. The other four tabs are all availabe, but not the data tab. It is like the data is locked or something. I have clicked on properties on my desktop icon and it is not locked. Please help.

I Need To Change The Enabled Property After Changing Records

Hi Guys,

i have a problem i hope some one can help me with.

i have a form with a sub form on it, and i want to disable everything until the user clicks a 'edit' button to allow the information to be changed.

i am just testing it at the moment, so i set one text box's enabled property to false. then i added a button with an on click event with the following code:

Me!userid.Enabled = True

when i start the form, the userid box is disabled and when i click on the edit button, it enables it fine.

however, when i change to the next record, the userid box remains enabled. i cant find where to put the code to set it back to false everytime i change the record.

i should also let you know i am a beginner, so please be gentle!

2007 Upgrade - Change Subdatasheet Property??

We just upgraded to Office 2007 and are experiencing very slow access performance. This microsoft article addresses the problem:

It won't let me change Subdatasheet Name property to [NONE].

Even if I am able to change it, will this affect my table links. I have a lot of them.

I am just the part-time Access "programmer" here and am somewhat lost trying to figure this out. Does anyone have a simple explanation and solution? I would appreciate any help so much!!

when the Form Property "selectionchange" kicks in?I am trying to use this to run an event procedure. I have a sub form datasheet which contains a date, and when the selection is changed from one record to another in the sub form, I would like to run an event procedure that updates certain fields on the main form, according to the date.I have put msgbox in the event procedure, but it doesn't trigger when the selection is changed? or am I misunderstanding the property?I have also tried got focus, lostfocus, beforeupdate, but they only trigger when the record is changed, not just when the selection is changed.

I have stumbled across an issue in my report involving the Report.SourceObject property. The section of the report contains a subreport that needs to change dynamically to display the report that relates to the corresponding test. When trying to change the subreports.Sourceobject property I get the error Run-time error 2191: You cant set the Source Object Property in the print preview or after printing has started.This is very clear to me what the limitation is, however I was wondering if there was some way around this.

I have currently tried creating multiple subreports that are stacked on each other with visible property set to false. Then I change the specific subreport visible property base of a select. This worked, but was extremely hard on the machine and printer as there is about 15 different possible subreports.

Secondly I have tried exporting it to RTF and just manually copying and pasting the tables. The down side with this is all the formatting and work I have put into the report as a whole goes out the window so if possible would like to avoid this situation as well.

I have a form that launches a query. The results are displayed in a continuous form called ParentForm. On the ParentForm is a combobox which selects a singleform called a ChildForm that displays the details of the selected record. I placed a command button on the ChildForm. This button simulates a circular triple state toggle switch. By clicking this switch the form goes from ReadOnly to Edit to Add modes. The form properties AllowEdits , Allow Additions and DataEntry are adjusted accordingly. These properties when they are changed seem to initiate requery of the underlying data source. Here is the code. I am looking for a way to avoid requery of the data when the mod is changed.

Dynamically Loading Query Results

Hi All,
I am new to Access and looking for some help.

I have a query, which reads the combo box value and loads the result in Text box. It works fine when I load the Form.
Now here is the problem… If I select another values from combo box the query result remains the same (in text box). How do I make it work dynamically?
So when I select new value in combo box, the resulting query gets updated in textbox.

I can create a select query with a combo box in it by changing the property of one of the fields - making the display control to combo box and adding the values. No problem there.

What I want to do is to be able to create a query dynamically from vba using a CreateQueryDef statement.

The problem is that you can only pass an SQL string to CreateQueryDef, and the combo box values are not part of the SQL code, but are saved with the query (presumably the same way column layout gets saved).

Is there a way to create a query with VBA and include non-SQL layout criteria so I can have combo boxes?

I'm using Access 2002.

I have a temporary table with Yes/No fields (F101,F102,F103,....etc).
In another table i have a field called ProductCode with values (101,102,103,....etc)
Is it possible to append(or update) the records of the temp table with criteria on "F" &ProductCode field? (For example if ProductCode=101 then F101 sets to yes)

I have an aggregate query that creates a report of "A" by "B". Each "A" can have many "B"s under it. The report works fine. I need to count and display on the report the number of "B"s for each "A". Make-table Query Property?

I am having trouble with a make-table query. I run a query that populates my website with data daily. I have a bunch of fields in the db that I wanted to be displayed as one field on the website, so in my query I concatenated them. My website is able to distinguish which fields are text and which are memos so I can display multiple lines. Everytime I run the query, it creates the concatenated field as a text field. Is there a way I can default this to a memo type?

Access Query Property From Form?

I have a form that is to be used to browse through parts using various filters (like category, snippets of part number or description) to find particular components, and then draw information from those components onto the form to be used for other things.

Queries I seem to understand - I've made a query which I've embedded on the form which happily filters the parts using the combo-boxes and text boxes on the form.

What I can't figure out is how to access the information IN the query! There doesn't seem to be a "double-click" event, or a "highlighted row" property, that I can use to tell the query WHICH of the parts returned after filtering is the particular one Im interested in, to draw information from the row.

What I want is a command button that, once the desired part is selected, "sucks" the data out of the query into text boxes on the form.

I've tried something like -

Me.txtSelectedPartID = Me.qryPartFinder.PartID

...but it tells me that the method or data member is not found. When I'm typing the code the auto-complete thingy happily finds "qryPartFinder" when I type "me", but none of the available properties in the list for qryPartFinder seem to be what I need.

How DO you access the data in a highlighted (and/or somehow selected) row?

Dynamically Add Field To Record

This may be a really straightforward one but I cannot seem to find a solution.

I need to run a select query, (for a mailout) then mark the records that have been selected in the query on the main database table with a mailshot code.

Any ideas on how best to achieve this?

I was thinking of making the select query maketable (because I have to export a txt file of email addresses for a mailing list), then add a mailshot code field, then append this extra field to the main table.

The trouble is that I am not sure how to use the query to add this extra field to the maketable & once this has been done, how do I append the values to the original table when the mailshot code field does not exist, can it be dynamically created?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Transfering Data Dynamically

I have a subform called "Earthwork". I also have a query called earthwork200 and I need to dynamically transfer data from the earthwork to the query based on a certain column.

for example, the earthwork column i am using to transfer data to the query is "Desc" (the name of the column). How do i get data to dynamically goto the query as I click on a new item under the "desc" column?
