Forms :: How To Have Information Populate All Fields For Editing

Dec 20, 2013

I have attached a portion of my database. if you go into the form called frmtest, select a branch from the very top drop down, select a detail and click the Edit button.how to have the information populate all the fields for editing. The Cost and Quantity fields work but my combo box fields don't properly work. The top combo box populates but when the record is updated it doesn't save the id. The second combo box doesn't even put the data in the data box.The main table where IDs and fields are is the BRANCH_EXP table, it's a linking table which links tables with many to many realationships.

Editing Query Results

Apr 10, 2006

I understand that trying to edit a query from multiple tables will not work as the link to the record is "broken". However, is there a way to filter a table and edit the results in a form view. In other words my table holds data for 42 supervisors. I would like to get a form view of the particular sup that is signed in. I can get the results into a form but the records appear to be locked. The Record lock feature to the form is set to "No Locks".

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Query Results Editing

Apr 27, 2006

hello. i have a database form which, through combo boxes, allows a user to enter variables and print their desired data in table form. the database searches a table that contains a lot of data. for example, you can find the number of people that speak specific languages in a certain country.

anyway, there are a lot of languages in my table and i do not have data for each specific language. what i want is the query to print only those columns from the table (that relate to the specific chosen country) containing data. if i use the IS NOT NULL command, every time a row does not contain a value, that entire entry is not printed.

anyone have any ideas? is what i want to do even possible in access? any help is much appreciated.

Linked DB Query Which Allows Editing Of Data Through A Form

Dec 20, 2005

Hello,

I am a relative newby to Access, Can someone please offer a solution to my problem.

I have a DB which lists current order references, I also have a linked spreadsheet from a customer which references their Ref number to our S/order no & Item no.
I have set up the relationships for the common data between both tables.

if I create a Query from either table individually the data can be edited but when a query is created from both sources the data cannot be edited.
this also happens if the spreadsheet is imported to its own DB.

I would really like to create a form which displays both sets of data for editing, marking progress etc.

Can data from linked tables be edited in a form ?

Regards

Andy

Forms :: Editing Query Fields In A Form

May 1, 2013

I have produced a table, the records from which have to be selected by individuals for auditing purposes.

I created a second table with individuals initials and passwords. This is linked by the initials to the main table. Records on the main table are returned when the query is run.

At first I could not edit fields in the query but changed the recordset type to Dynaset (inconsistent). I am now able to edit the query fields. However, having created a form based on the query, I am unable to edit the fields in the form. This is the basis that the auditors will use to score so is vital. Have I missed any other switches or techniques?

Editing 4,000 Plant Names In A Query With 3 Identical Columns

Jul 3, 2014

I have a spreadsheet with 4,000 plant names, for example one plant name reads "Acer palmatum (Japanese Maple Tree)".

I transposed this spreadsheet into a database.

And then I created a query with 3 columns - "Acer palmatum (Japanese Maple Tree)" - "Acer palmatum (Japanese Maple Tree)" - "Acer palmatum (Japanese Maple Tree)".

And now I want to convert the database into 3 columns - "FirstName" - "RemainingName" - "OtherName" - so I can manually change this plant name for example to "Acer", "palmatum", "(Japanese Maple Tree)".

But when I edit any one of the names - all of fields in that row change whereas I only want the name in one column to change at a time.

Query Table Information With T-SQL

Sep 12, 2005

I have been looking all over for the answer to this and can't find the slightest thing about it.

I need to know how I can query information about what tables are in a MS Access database. Lets say for example I can't access the database with the MS Access application and I want to write a web query in asp to list the tables in the database. For example, I may not know what tables are in there and need to find out.

I know there is a way with mySQL using the "show tables" command but it doen't appear to work with Access

I also came accross some code with OpenSchema(adSchemaTables) that is suppose to do the trick, but it either doesn't work or my shared-hosting provider doen't have it set up to work.

If anyone could PLEASE help me out with the T-SQL query code to get table info I would be greatly thankful!

Thanks in advance,
Dan

Query Returning To To Much Information

Jun 21, 2006

Hi all
I have a query that is getting data fron 2 linked tables. The relationship between these 2 tables is 1 to many. The first table(One side) contains Due Dates for services. I have asked the query to return services for the current date which is working fine. The second table(Many side) has additional work required for each vehicle. The work can be either New, On Hold, In Progress or Completed. I only want work that has not been completed to be returned if the vehicle is due for a service today. I tried having the Work Status field in the query and criteria set to <> Completed. This returned all open work including vehicles not due for service. Is there anyway this can be achieved. If I take the criteria out of the Work Status field I get the information I am looking for but it includes Completed work and I do not need to know this.
Any and all advice appreciated.

Query Displaying Repetitious Information

Jul 6, 2005

In one table i Have component group Id and the description as fields then another table has the sub groupings for each Component Group Id

Example
Component Group ID = 1 which is the primary key
Description = Keyboards

Component
Sub datasheet has Group ID = 1 foreign key
Descriptive Options = USB, Wireless, PS2, Serial

I have joined both of these in a query but what i want is the query when i link it to the combo box on the form i have to only show the Group ID once and not repeat it for as many times as each subdatasheet has records.

Example: When i click External Device I dont want to see the word Keyboard being repeated 4 times (which is because there are four subrecords/types of keyboards) Please Advise.

Query Is Excluding Needed Information

Mar 1, 2007

I have created a query showing locations of a company's facilities, and product groups associated with that facility. Unfortunately the the products groups are located in one column and, if the facility produces more than one product, the product group is divided by a |, as shown below:
CABLE TRAY SECTION [05CT]|STEEL CONDUIT AND ELECTRICAL METALLIC TUBING SECTION [05RN]
In my query, I only want to show the product code, which I resolved by creating another table and associating the code with the product group. However, this query will exclude those plants that produce multiple products. How can I show just the product codes for all the facilities, including those with multiple product groups?

In otherwords, I would like the above example to look like this: 05CT|05RN (or something similar to this).

Transfering Information From Query To Table

Mar 15, 2006

Hi there, this is probably a very simple problem for people with experience of Access, however i have been having problems with being able to tranfer information from a query to a table.

I have made a query which displays a number of different items with their prices and who bought them (ie. booking ID)

I have then made a query which asks for the booking ID, then once you have input that it searches the items and adds up the price for all the items which that booking ID has.

both these queries work fine. The problem i am having is that i want to transfer this total price into a table. I have been able to do this by manually typing into the sql code the price, however when i try to get the query to collect the price itselfs, it gives the error
"operation must use an updateable query"

btw i am making the query as a update query,

sorry if this post is a tad long and messy,
thx in advance for any help

Queries :: Including (In Between) Information In Query?

I want to make a query that pulls up how many programs have been provided to a given age group. How can I make it so that the query will understand to include records that have the given age group in between the Start Age and End Age fields? I.e. if I set the query to 3rd Grade, records that start at 2nd Grade and end with 4th Grade are included in the results as well.

General :: Loop Through Query For Information

Jun 18, 2014

I am using Access 2010. I have a database that on a form uses a multiselect listbox. That part works just fine. The list box is for selecting additional people to email. Now I have had no luck with returning just the email address that are in a hidden column (the persons actual name is seen and "selected"). The names come from a separate table and is used as a forgien key. On that same table are the indivuals email addresses. What I did was loop through to get all of the ID numbers I am getting from the list box (the ID numbers are stored in the table that the form is based on).

Once I have all of the ID Numbers I thought that maybe there was a way to retrieve all of the email address associated with the ID Numbers. This is what I have so far. I know that AllQuery returns the first email address from the list box. I just have no idea if the query is returning more than one record, or if it is how to then go to the next record. I have tried a few things with little to no success.

Code:
Dim ListItem As Variant
Dim AllItems As String
Dim AllQuery As String
For Each ListItem In Me.EmailAdditionEgineers.ItemsSelected
AllItems = AllItems & Me.EmailAdditionEgineers.ItemData(ListItem) & " or "
Next ListItem
AllItems = Left(AllItems, Len(AllItems) - 3)
AllQuery = DLookup("EmailAddress", "AdditionalEmailRequestQuery", "[ID] = " & AllItems) & ";"

Union Of Query With Blank Information

Jan 2, 2014

I have two query's. One that shows a list of buildings with post inspection dates "Q_PI_Qrtly_Insp_Ct_Range_Count" and one that shows a list of buildings that all have posts "Q_PI_Qrtly_Insp_Ct_Range_Blank". What I am trying to do is create a union of sorts that will give me a list of all the buildings with the count of the post inspections performed and if there were no post inspections performed then list those buildings with a zero or blank.

Even if I have to have two seperate lists that would be OK but I can not figure out how to get a list of buildings where no post inspections were performed. I've attached a sample of the database. In other words my "Q_PI_Qrtly_Insp_Ct_Range_Blank" query doesn't work.

Using A List Box To Display Query Information

Jul 30, 2013

I'm trying to get a listbox to display results of a query that are only related to the current record being viewed.I have a form (setup as a continuous form) that displays a vendor table. I have a query setup to reference what parts a vendor supplies, and I would like those results to be visible on the form. I would use a subform to make this happen, but if I try and drop a subform on the main form, it says it won't do it with a continuous form. So, the listbox. I copied my form, dropped in the subform, and took a copy of the SQL statement. I then took that SQL statement and dropped it on the Row Source of the unbound listbox. I do get a return of Parts and Prices, but its the whole list, not just a list for the currently displayed vendor. My SQL is currently thus:

Code:
SELECT tblPrice.[Part Number], tblPrice.Cost, tblPrice.[Price Date], tblPrice.[Bulk Discount], tblVendors.[Vendor Name]
FROM tblVendors INNER JOIN tblPrice ON tblVendors.[VendorID] = tblPrice.[VendorID];

I have tried to wrap my head around it, and I'm stuck. GoogleFu has also failed me, as I can't find something quite on point to what I'm doing.

Referenced Crosstab Query Does Not Always Have Information Required

May 11, 2007

My database is built using Access 97.

I have the following table and 2 queries:

Table: “Materials Master Sheet”
field: “Material”
field: “Re-Order Level”
field: “Re-Order Quantity”

Query (crosstab): “Most Recent Count Numbers”
field: “Material Name” (joined to table’s “Material”)
field: “Count Quantity”

Query (crosstab): “Orders Pending Delivery”
field: “Material” (joined to table’s “Material”)
field: “Total Orders”

I am attempting to create a query called "Count vs ReOrder" with the following fields:

1. “Material Name” - comes from “Most Recent Count Numbers” query

2. “Order” - if the inventory count has reached the reorder level point, then 1, else 0; criteria: 1
expression: IIf([Most Recent Count Numbers]![Count Quantity]<=[Materials Master Sheet]![Re-Order Level],1,0)

3. "Suggested Order" - reorder quantity - count of any orders pending delivery; criteria: > 0
expression: [Materials Master Sheet]![Re-Order Quantity]-[Orders Pending Delivery]![Total Order]

This works great if all materials have orders pending delivery. However, if there are no orders pending (material not displayed in crosstab query), the material is not displayed (even though, in reality, the suggested order should be >0)

Currently does this:
material 1 - count = 1, re-order level = 2, re-order quantity = 8, orders pending = 4: shows material and suggests ordering 4 (correct)

material 2 - count = 2, re-order level = 2, re-order quantity = 4, orders pending = 4: material not shown (correct, as suggested order would be 0)

material 3 - count = 2, re-order level = 2, re-order quantity = 4, orders pending = 0: material not shown (incorrect! should be shows material and suggests ordering 4)

How can I go about addressing the missing “Orders Pending Delivery” numbers?

Updating Information In A Form Based On Query

Apr 29, 2005

Hello

I have made a form based on a query that pulls information from 4-5 tables. I would like to be able to change information in those 4-5 tables by using that form, but I am unable to do it. I opened up the properties for the form and set "data entry" and "Allow edits" and "allow additions" and "allow subtractions" all to YES. That didn't help.

Is it possible to do this, since the form is based on a query? I couldn't figure out a good way to set up the form getting the information directly from the four tables. I'm not sure why it's been so difficult.

I have one table full of all of the various titles I have. The tables are related using those titles, and each table has a different sort of information for each record. So, the "main" table is "ALL TITLES," but when I go make a form, I can't get ALL TITLES to be the controlling table. It's very frustrating. But a query works beautifully--I just can't change anything.

(I would like to have the form be a "user-friendly" way for people to make changes.)

Thanks for your help.

I am trying to get to the next record of my query. For some reason I am stuck on just the first record and it is repeated the exact number of times equal to the number of records in the query. Here is what I have so far.

Code:
Dim FSO As Object
Dim FromPath As String
Dim FromPathCheck As String
Dim ToPath As String
Dim FinalDestination As String

[Code]....

Yes I do know that I am doubled up on the

Code:
rs.MoveNext

The reason is because with out this added rs it goes into an infinite loop. Need generating each value in the TRNumber field in the query.

stDocName = "FrmPO_Received"
stLinkCriteria = "[ItemID]=" & Me.ItemID

Now it works sometimes, but sometimes it pulls up a different "PurchaseOrderID". Is there a way to fix this. I thought maybe there would be a way to put two criteria, "ItemID" and "PurchaseOrderID".
