Run Time Error 2448; You Can't Assign A Value To This Object

May 1, 2008

Hi all,

I have a form that runs from a query which combines data from 2 tables. I am trying to set up a filter on the form using a number of combo boxes and text boxes and a command button to fire it but I keep getting the above error (on the .Filter = strFilter line) and I can't see what the problem is with my code.

Private Sub cmdApplyFilter_Click()

Dim strSSType As String
Dim strArea As String
Dim strDepot As String
Dim strStatus As String
Dim strRisk As String
Dim strZone As String
Dim strContractor As String
Dim strFilter As String

If IsNull(Me.cboSSType.Value) Then
strSSType = "'Like '*'"
Else
strSSType = "='" & Me.cboSSType.Value & "'"
End If

If IsNull(Me.cboArea.Value) Then
strArea = "'Like '*'"
Else
strArea = "='" & Me.cboArea.Value & "'"
End If

If IsNull(Me.cboDepot.Value) Then
strDepot = "'Like '*'"
Else
strDepot = "='" & Me.cboDepot.Value & "'"
End If

If IsNull(Me.cboStatus.Value) Then
strStatus = "'Like '*'"
Else
strStatus = "='" & Me.cboStatus.Value & "'"
End If

If IsNull(Me.cboRisk.Value) Then
strRisk = "'Like '*'"
Else
strRisk = "='" & Me.cboRisk.Value & "'"
End If

If IsNull(Me.cboZone.Value) Then
strZone = "'Like '*'"
Else
strZone = "='" & Me.cboZone.Value & "'"
End If

If IsNull(Me.cboContractor.Value) Then
strContractor = "'Like '*'"
Else
strContractor = "='" & Me.cboContractor.Value & "'"
End If

strFilter = "[subSubstationType] " & strSSType & "AND [subArea] " & strArea & "AND [subDepot] " & strDepot & "AND [subStatus] " & strStatus & "AND [subRiskLevel] " & strRisk & "AND [subZone] " & strZone & "AND [subContractor] " & strContractor

With Forms![frmSubInfo]
.Filter = strFilter
.FilterOn = True
End With

End Sub

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Forms :: Assigning Value To Object - Run Time Error 2448

Jun 25, 2014

The following code is in the Form Current. As you can see if BranchCode = 2 I want to do a DLookup on the SystemPreferences table that holds a number Branch fields that hold document archive numbers for that branch. I want to move the number in the CroArchiveNo field into the field ArchiveNumber. I then run an Update Query on the system preferences table to add one to the relative branch archive number.

If Me.[BranchCode] = 2 Then
Me.[ArchiveNumber] = DLookup("[CroArchiveNo]", "SystemPreferences", "[SysPrefId] = 1")
DoCmd.SetWarnings False
DoCmd.OpenQuery "UpdateCroArchiveNo"
DoCmd.SetWarnings True
End If

My problem is that I get an error

Modules & VBA :: Displaying Count In Unbound Textbox On A Form

Mar 10, 2014

I have a form, which is bound to a table, with an unbound textbox.

I am trying to get the number of months an employee has/had worked.

In the table are two dates, Company Start Date, and Resignation Date.

There are three scenarios in which I need to calculate the months:No Resignation Date

A Resignation Date in the future
A Resignation Date in the Past

See attached PDF

The Employees are under a one-year contract which ends the day before the one-year anniversary.

I originally tried using DateDiff in the Control Source, but the IIF seamed too limited for my needs.

Code:

If [Resignation Date] = "" Then
If Month([Nichii Gakkan Start]) = Month(Date) Then
If Day([Nichii Gakkan Start]) < Day(Date) Then
MIS = DateDiff("m", [Nichii Gakkan Start], Date) - 1

[Code] ....

MIS = The name of the textbox in question.

Forms :: Bringing Entered Data From One Textbox On Form To Textbox On Another Form

May 17, 2013

I currently have two froms, "add record" and "add record cont." The reason I have two seperate forms is because when clients create a new record information needs to be saved to two different tables and when creating one from with fields from both tables I ran into many problems. The two tables are named : tblMain, tblFileLoc Currently there is a textbox on both forms named "fileID" the FileID in the first form is from tblMain and is the primary key for that table, the FileID on the second form "Add Record Cont." is just a normal field. When clients enter in the new FileID in the first form "Add Record" and then move onto the next form "Add Record Cont." i need access to bring the entered FileID from the first form and Fill it in the FileID field in the second form. Currently I have tried making the control source for the textbox on the second form = the textbox on the first form but it brought up an error.

Form Not Displaying Data

Feb 10, 2005

I recently have made some changes to a bound form that someone else created. Since I made the changes, simply adding a couple more linked textboxes, the form will not populate any of the fields until I lose focus from this main form to another form and come back. I have tried adding me.requery, me.refresh to the onActive event, but it does not work.

Also this only occurs on 2 machines. If I try it on mine or a couple of other computers in the company the program works fine.

I am at a complete loss as to what to do and could really use some help on this one.

Forms :: Displaying Multiple Values In A Textbox?

Jul 30, 2013

I am designing a book collection database where each book can contain multiple authors. I used three tables; tblBooks, tblAuthors, tblBookAuthorJOIN. The tblBookAuthorJOIN allows me to create a subform with drop down combo boxes in the Books form linking multiple authors to each books indexed field. The Author table contains the usual FirstName, LastName, MiddleName fields. I would to be able to display the names of each author in the forms header but I am having difficulty.

For example a book may have two authors such as:

Authors table would contain values such as

Last Name: Grisham
First Name: John

Last Name: Twain
First Name: Mark

Textbox in header would display: John Grisham; Mark Twain

The authors would be displayed in the following format in the same order as listed in the subform datasheet.

Attached is a graphic of the form.

Reports :: Form Not Displaying Data Properly

Jul 29, 2015

I am brand new to MS Access 2013 & VBA.There is a form that collects the data and writes it to a SQL database. The form is a certificate order form for a school. There are two tables that data is written to. dbo.CertificateMaster & dbo.CertificationModules. There is a relationship between the two tables. A person will request the certificate and included in the request are the subject(modules) that the person has studied.As part of the request the college/school needs a printed copy of the request.As the report opens I need it populate certain fields with their full names. To do this I use the following script

Private Sub Report_Load()
Dim strSQL1 As String, db As DAO.Database, rs As DAO.Recordset
Dim strSQL2 As String, db2 As DAO.Database, rs2 As DAO.Recordset
Dim strSQL3 As String, db3 As DAO.Database, rs3 As DAO.Recordset

[code]....

Problem 1:

When drawing the data from dbo_tblCourse_Department I need to populate 4 textboxes on the report. I am able to populate PgmTitle &NQFLevel, but I keep getting "Item not found in this collection error for Credits & SAQAID.

Problem 2:

I need to populate the various courses with their name which is extracted from dbo_tblCourses. However only the first course name is visible in the report. I have tried all sorts of different iterations with IF Then or Do While to get the names in the correct line of the report.

Frequent Error In Referring / Linking Textbox In Subform From Text Box Within Main Form

Apr 17, 2013

Go to frmInvoice, and you'll see a Net Total box (txtNetTotal) . It's control source is linked to a textbox in the subform fsubInvoiceDetails2 called txtStocktotal. It basically just pulls up all the costs associated with that InvoiceID.

The reference mechanism is as follows: =[fsubInvoiceDetails2].[Form]![txtStockTotal].Now...sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't! Sometimes i've had to use: =forms!fsubInvoiceDetails2!txtStockTotal.

It seems to be very temperamental at times and i'm not fully confident if this can be explained.By way of note, I use express builder normally to input these statements: I go to Forms > ALL FORMS > fsubInvoiceDetails2 > txtstocktotal.

Modules & VBA :: Passing Data From Query To Textbox On A Form

Jan 7, 2014

I have a form with a date field, when the user creates a new record, I would like the date field to automatically fill with the most up-to-date date from the Orderdate table.

Basically I need the code to do the following when a new record is created;

Search the Orderdate table for the most recent date and then auto fill the date field on the form with that date!!!!

My thinking so far...

Private Sub Command34 - where would you set this event on the properties i.e. Before update or On Got Focus ?

Docmd.OpenQuery "QryFindMaxDate"

I'm not really sure how to pass the date to the text box on the form,

End Sub

Mandate Users To Enter Data In Textbox Before Proceeding To Record On Form

Nov 21, 2012

Any way (VBA script, etc) to make it mandatory for a user to enter data in a textboxes in a form before proceeding to the next record on a form? I know I am able to do this in the table by selecting the value "Yes" in the Required area in the General Tab but I was wondering if there is a VBA script you can enter it in a form instead.

On attachment is an Access Database in winzip. In the __Property form, I want to make it madatory for users to enter data in the County Shapefile Gross Acres, Township, Mineral Severance Tract, and Unit name fields before proceeding to a new record. If data is not entered in these textboxes for these field, then a person will not be allowed to go to the next record.

Displaying Custom Error Message

Nov 2, 2004

Good day to all:

I have created a database in access with multiple fields.

I have restricted to entering data a specific field with numbers only, but I would like to display a custom error message instead of the default access message. For example: "You can only enter a number in this field" and for another field; you must enter a name in this field if someone tries to ignore a specific field.

Any ideas on how to go about this?

Many thanks in advance,

Dion

I open the "Input" form
there 2 textboxes

//Do Again
search1: Date
value1: 8/31/2005
//Do Again
search1: Vendor Name
value1: Jimmy
...

// This case is Not OK, has error
// this one is OK
search1: Date
value1: 8/31/2005
// Do Again, Error come out
search1: Vendor Name
value1: Amy
//Error message appear

#Error! Is Only Displayed Sometimes On Calculated Textbox

Sep 14, 2006

I have a form with loads of calculated textboxes (using expressions).
Some of these also rely on other textboxes that are being calculated when the form loads.
If I load it once, some of the textboxes display #Error! but most don't.
On closing it and reloading it a second time, the textboxes that displayed #Error! the first time now display a correct value and some other textboxes display #Error! instead.

Occasionally, every control works perfectly.

Is this something to do with when the calculation on each control is run and that if the dependent calculations don't finish quickly enough?

If so, is there a way round it?

Can't figure this one out. I am trying to get my query to show me which company's have not sent a supplier any money during a certain period.

However if I have the following data

abc company
1/10/02 £5
1/12/02 £10

an i search for any company who has not sent any money between 2/10/2 and 1/11/02 abc company does not show up because there is no data between these dates. If I had a record 2/11/02 £0 it shows up. So what criteria or query can I use to show this up?

Not sure the title is the best way to describe my problem. lolWell i have only been working on Access for a few months. The database i am working on keeps track when employee have been trained in a certain SOP document. I have a table for employees names and info, a table for SOP names and info, and a look up table that includes both employee and SOP with the date that they have been trained. Is it possible to create a report that would display what they did not train yet? Forgive me if its a stupid question and any help would be great. Thanks for your time.Aloha
