Error 3190 And I Have 12000+ Records! Help!
Feb 17, 2006
Hello. My name is Correen, and I need some help, if your willing to help me. I have a broad knowledge of computers and software, but this problem has truly stumped me, and seeing as how I'm the "go to" person at my office, there's no one else to turn to!
I have less than 200 fields in Microsoft Access 2000, but I'm sure that I've changed or added 255 or more (I read on the internet that it still counts changes/adds towards the 255, even if they were deleted).
When I try to add a new field, I get "too many fields defined" error, and when I click help it tells me error 3190.
I read on the internet that I should save a copy of the table/data as another table name, but that when my second problem comes in: I have more than 9500 records, 12000+ in fact, and it cannot copy that many at one time. Secondly, the date, set to type in as dd/mm/yy and then convert itself to dd/mm/yyyy, will not paste correctly even if I copy only one record at a time.
Please help!
Many thanks,
Mrs. Correen Anne Frappaolo

Hello,
i'm new with access and was wondering if i can get some help with an append query?
I'm getting an error message that state the following below:
*Microsoft Access can't append all the records in the append query.
Microsoft Access set 36 field(s) to Null due to a type conversion failure, and it didn't add 0 records to the table due to key violations, 0 records due to lock violations, and 0 records due to validation rule violations.
This is my append query below:
INSERT INTO CustExportHoldCiti ( Custodian, CustAcct, Ticker, Cusip, CurrCode, SecurityName, Shares, CustCost, CustValue, POI, OriginalDiscount, HoldingType, Loc, Expr1 )
SELECT DISTINCT [CitiBank Current Holdings].Custodian, [CitiBank Current Holdings].[Account Number], SecSymbolsAll.SecSymbol AS Ticker1, [CitiBank Current Holdings].CUSIP1, [CitiBank Current Holdings].Curr, [CitiBank Current Holdings].[Security Description], [CitiBank Current Holdings].Shares, [CitiBank Current Holdings].CustCost, [CitiBank Current Holdings].CustValue, [CitiBank Current Holdings].POI, [CitiBank Current Holdings].OriginalDiscount, [CitiBank Current Holdings].HoldingType, dbo_Locations.Location, [date] AS Expr1
FROM [CitiBank Current Holdings] LEFT JOIN (SecSymbolsAll LEFT JOIN dbo_Locations ON SecSymbolsAll.LocationID = dbo_Locations.LocationID) ON [CitiBank Current Holdings].Ticker = SecSymbolsAll.SecSymbol
WHERE (((SecSymbolsAll.SecSymbol) Is Not Null));
I can't figure out what is wrong with it. Thank you for the help.

I am using MS Access(2000) as a front end to a MS SQL2000 DB. I set up a table link to one of the tables in the SQL server. The table I am linking to has 242 Fields in it. The table shows 21888 rows of data.
In Access, when I set the record source in a Form to this linked table and go to run (Form) view, I get a "Record to Large" error.
In the SQL table - there is one varchar field that is 17 in length. There are about 5 char fields and the rest are numeric or date.
My questions are:
What is causing this error?
What would be a good work around or other possible solutions?
Thanks.

Hey peeps,
Hoping you can help me out with a problem I have... Basically every now and again I get a call from my client saying they cant add a new record, to any table, they get a message saying they are not allowed. I go in and it seems the DB has somehow locked itself and I have to open it up and repair it... it is a multi user setup with the database on a server.... I have seen the users actually end task on Word if it doesnt respond quick enough and was wondering if this would cause the locking problem!? I am just asking to see if there is a setting or something I can do to try and prevent this happening!?
Any help at all much appreciated!!
Thanks
Matt

I am trying to use DCount to count the number of records (speakers) for each session. Not being very savvy with DCount, I copied code that I had working for another instance of needing to count the number of records.
My query has three fields
Query used: Web/PrintReport_qry
Session Id - number
Speaker - string
Code:
SpeakerCount: DCount("*","Web/PrintReport_qry","[Session ID]='" & [Session ID] & "' And [Speaker]<" & [Speaker])+1
My output for SpeakerCount is "#Error"

I am building an access database for my college project and I essentially have a quotation form that when I click a button 'Convert to Invoice' it creates a new record in the invoice table and then creates new records in the invoice details table which match the quotation details table. This is working as it should but for only the first 2 customers in my customer table?
On the quote form I have a combo box which is linked to the customer table and updates the quote table based on the selection. If I select customer 1 or 2 and click 'convert to invoice' it works and opens an invoice form based on the inserted data however if I select any other customer it returns an error that the record wasn't added to the table due to key violations?
As far as I can tell I am not trying to update the primary keys in the Invoice Table or the Invoice Details Tables.

I'm trying to transfer records from a table in one subform to another subform (on same form) using a checkbox as a filter:
Private Sub TransferAndReview_Click()
Dim db As dao.Database
Dim strSQL As String
strSQL = "INSERT INTO Forms![Extra Work Report Checksheet]![Equipment Input Subform1].Form[(QuantityUsed[, HoursUsed])] VALUES (QuantityUsed[, HoursUsed]) FROM Forms![Extra Work Report Checksheet]![Equipment Checksheet Table Subform] WHERE [Extra Work Report Checksheet]![Equipment Input Subform1].Form[EquipmentUsed]=True;"
Set db = CurrentDb
db.Execute strSQL, dbFailOnError
End Sub
The Main form is: [Extra Work Report Checksheet]
Subforms are: [Equipment Input Subform1] & [Equipment Checksheet Table Subform]
Checkbox field is: [EquipmentUsed]
I keep getting the error "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement" which points to 'db.Execute strSQL, dbFailOnError' and I don't understand why. Neither of the fields [QuanityUsed] or [HoursUsed] are lookup fields, etc.

I'm trying to create a function to update and amend records in a table.
The update part works and updates existing records with new data but I'm getting an error with the insert part.
Run time error 3078
The Microsoft Office Access database engine cannot find the input table or query 'FALSE'. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly.
Nothing called 'FALSE' so not sure what that means?
Code:
sSQL = "INSERT INTO Pupil_tb (PupilID,Class,PupilName,etc ) " _
= "SELECT PupilImport_tb.PupilID, Class, PupilName, etc FROM PupilImport_tb " _
& "LEFT JOIN Pupil_tb " _
& "ON Pupil_tb.PupilID=PupilImport_tb.PupilID " _
& "WHERE Pupil_tb.PupilID Is Null "
CurrentDb.Execute sSQL, dbFailOnError

why the code below is not functioning properly. When I type in an acronym in the textbox, it keeps saying there is an error "Run-time error '3345': Unkown or invalid field reference 'ABO'." I do have ABO in the field.
The dysfunctional code:
Code:
Private Sub btnFind_Click()
If (TxtFind & vbNullString) = vbNullString Then Exit Sub
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Set rs = Me.RecordsetClone
rs.FindFirst "[Acronym] = " & TxtFind
[Code] .....
The red highlighted line is where the debugger leads me to. Something with identifying the field? I would like to enable the search procedure to search throughout the entire records rather than just a specific field. How may I write such a line or two?

Hi,
A query has the field PRICE_PER_100 but displays "Error" in this field when running the query on some records. I believe this is because some of the records either have the name "KILO" or "EACH" in the "STK_SALE_UNIT_MEASURE" column instead of a number. (The ones that have a number calculate fine)
Full code in query below:
PRICE_PER_100: IIf(IsNull([STK_SALE_UNIT_MEASURE]),0,[INV_PRICE]/Val([STK_SALE_UNIT_MEASURE])*100)
Any suggestions on how to fix this?, im guessing i need to change the code to display 0 if STK_SALE_UNIT_MEASURE contains either: "KILO" or "EACH" but not to sure what needs to be done.
Any help would be appreciated.

Does anybody know what this error message refers to?
"Reserved Error (-1517); there is no message for this error."
It just started happening today, and I haven't even made any changes to the database. It occurs when I hit a button I have to run a macro.
the macro does the following:
1) Shows all records
2) Requery
3) ApplyFilter.
The Where Condition for the filter is:
Right([tblContracts].[JobNum],4)=Right([Forms]![FrmContProc].[txtFindJobNum],4)
The weird thing is that it only occurs if the Form window is taller than 1/2 of my viewable area. If the Form window is 1/2 the viewable area or shorter, it works OK. This was running fine earlier today, but about 4:00 pm (03/31/06) this started happening.
If anybody knows what this error means, or how to get rid of it (I really need to use this window in full-screen) then please let me know.
-Thanks, Sean

Okay, I'm kind of stumped here.I have a subform that has a button that sends a user to a "sibling" subform on another tab page, pass some information to ensure they are adding more details to the same records rather than creating two separate record.First time I programmed it, I got an error 3022 (keys cannot have duplicate values). I checked the query of the sibling subform and saw that the ID is from the one side table. I changed it so many table's foreign key is used. Second try, I got an error 3341 (there isn't a matching key in one side table).After some thinking, it also occured to me that I had set the query this way to allow addition of new record which wouldn't be possible if I had the query pulling the many side key, not the one side key.How do I get the subform to accept the ID that is being passed and create a new record using that ID?:confused:

Every form has an on error property.
Is it enough for error handling to code the on error property for each form?
With enough I mean error handling which lets you resume the program.
Ontherwise I have to code (or call a procedure) for each coded event which i wouldn't prefer
For instance now I'm putting error handling in each event but would consider it more efficient if it can be placed once in each form
Private Sub cmdReport_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_cmdReport_Click
Dim stDocName As String
stDocName = "rptOfme"
DoCmd.OpenReport stDocName, acPreview
Exit_cmdReport_Click:
Exit Sub
Err_cmdReport_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_cmdReport_Click
End Sub
