I have a textbox which returns the age based on another field (a date of birth field).
When I open the form and the dob control has not data, I get error in the age control. This control reads a module and is showing in the control source:
=ExactAge([WEDOB])
Is there a way I can hide this error message until data is entered in the dob control? Thank you.
I have a control called TotalPaid in a subform Footer section that sums up payment Amounts in the Details section. TotalPaid's control source is simply =SUM([Amount]).
That's it. Nothing tricky, I'm not summing up calculated controls or anything...
PROBLEM: TotalPaid frequently displays "#Error".
I can determine absolutely no reason for this. It is inconsistent, and is not specific to any certain subform records or mainform records. If I go to the next mainform record and then go back, the #Error will often disappear, to be replaced by the apprpriate SUM value.
Is this an Access 2000 bug?? I need to know what causes this and what I can do about, since the value in TotalPaid is VERY important to many of my other calculations. When it gives an #Error, my whole app becomes worthless.
I have read the threads on this subject and I thought I had my coding fixed, but obviously not, beacause I still get the error, "You can't hide a control that has the focus". Maybe it is a form/subform thing.
Here is my code:
Private Sub txtAge_AfterUpdate() If Me.txtAge > 39 Then Me!subfrmVersion.Form.chkWellness.Visible = False End If End Sub
txtAge is on the main form and chkWellness is on the subform.
I created an application in access 97 under win2000 Pro. Some of the forms use a calendar button. The problem is that one of the users can not use the button, when trys to open it, the calendar is blank and the following msg appears:
Code: Private Sub CommandButton3_Click() Dim rngCell As Range Dim i As Long Application.ScreenUpdating = False 'Coverage code i = Range("J" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
[Code] ....
Why doesn't access like the underlined (For control variable already in use).
I just installed Office 2007 and I get this error whenever I start MS Access 2007. "A problem occured while Microsoft Office Access was communicating with the OLE server or ActiveX Control"
What could it be? I don't have any antivirus appz or such that could interfere, and my Windows XP+SP2 is updated daily.
While I have developed many databases using other RDBMSs I'm afraid I'm something of an Access 2007 newbie so the vast bulk of my experience counts for nought given Access' many "unique features".
What I have is a form with about 3 text fields, 2 date fields and a number of comboboxes on it. Although, for now I'm not worrying about the combo boxes until I get the other fields working.
I am trying to develop an update screen where the user types the primary key value for a record into the first field and using DLookup retrieve the other values from the table and insert them into the form so the user can adjust them if they wish and click the Save button to write the changes back to the table. That's the theory.
Unfortunately the reality is, although the values added to the other fields using DLookup are "there" they don't appear on the screen until the controls lose focus. My best guess is because they are being added programatically and no Return key is being pressed, focus will not change and they will never appear.
So to get around this I put a line of code in the GotFocus event of each control to move focus on to the next control, effectively "looping" the focus once around the controls. This worked well until the focus was being moved from the second last control to the last control when I got, Runtime error 2110: Can't move focus to this control. The control was visible and enabled, as was a dummy control I tacked on the end to see what happened.
Main code block in Exit event of first field:
Private Sub Text6_Exit(Cancel As Integer) Dim varItemType, varItemTypeCode, varItemClass, varItemClassCode, varDescription As Variant Dim varPurchaseDate, varWarrantyEnd As Variant Dim varItemTypeTxt As AcTextFormat Dim PurchaseDateSQL As String
is it possible to use a sum select query in the control source field of a text box. I have a query that works fine in a combo text box but I keep getting a 'syntax error with subquery parenthesis' when I try and build on in a normal text box.
I am building the query using query design view and the query works and then I'm copying the SQL code behind the query into the text box field and access reformats it s a bit so not sure it's that's the reason.
R_P_Data_P = Table approvalNosys = Field in the table status = Field in the table score = Field in the table cmrOverview = Form [approvalNoSys] = field in form 1 is the criteria
Code: SELECT R_P_Data_P.approvalNosys, R_P_Data_P.status, Sum(R_P_Data_P.score) AS SumOfscore FROM R_P_Data_P GROUP BY R_P_Data_P.approvalNosys, R_P_Data_P.status HAVING (((R_P_Data_P.approvalNosys)=[forms]![cmrOverview]![approvalNoSys]) AND ((R_P_Data_P.status)="1"));
I have just tried experimenting with placing a Chart control within a form (Access 2010). Although the chart ultimately seems to work (based on my one simple example), I'm getting an Error 1907 (Could not register font.......) each time I launch the database or reload or edit the form.
This error message is itself contained within a "Configuration Progress" screen for MS Office Prof + 2010 which seems to complete if I select Ignore the error message but runs again each time the database is launched (with the same error message showing up part way through). I am logged on as Administrator.
I believe I did this before awhile ago but for some reason I keep getting an error.
I have a Mainform (frmMain) that has a Subform (frmSub). On frmSub I have 2 comboxes (strCom1 & strCom2) one is set to invisible (strCom2.Visible = No).
So using the "On Open Event" of frmMain I want make strCom2 visible if strCom1 = "Read Only". Ofcourse I will also need to place the vba on the On After Update event. Below is what I have so far but doesnt work.
I get Run-time Error 2427 "You enetered an experssion that has no value"
Code:
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer) If Me!frmSub.Form!strCom1.Value = "Read Only" Then Me!frmSub.Form!strCom2.Visible = True Else Me!frmSub.Form!strCom2.Visible = False End If End Sub
I have a form that has several sub forms and what I want is that if the user chooses Plan Name in the main form "No Fault" or 'Workers Comp". I want message to pop and go to the field in the subform to enter data but I keep on getting an error.
Private Sub Plan_Name_AfterUpdate() If ([Plan Name] = "No Fault") Then MsgBox "Enter additional information in No Fault form before continuing." DoCmd.GoToControl ([NoFaultWCompsubForm]![Attorney Name]) End If End Sub
It says the action or method requires a control name argument?
I am trying to create a database for a cub scout pack that just keeps scouts information, medical info, parents info, and parents medical info each is a seperate table. I have created a Tab controlled form with 4 tabs. On each tab the ONLY thing I have is a subform that contains the appropriate information. Each table has it's own form with the table as it's record source. I link the scouts table to the medical table by SID which is a primary key in the Scouts table. I link the Scouts table to the Parents table with a PID which is the Primary Key in my Parents table, and I link the Parents with the ParentsMed with a PMedID, key in the ParentsMed table.
Question #1 - Using a Tab Control you can only have 1 record source. What should I use? I have tried the tblScouts and I have also created a query with every field from every table.
#2 - When I try to use the parent and child links on the subform I get the error "Can't build a link between unbound forms" but each form is bound to the table and the record source on the tab control has had a table and my qryEverything, neither work. I can type in SID but it still doesn't function properly.
Any suggestions or comments on a better relationship method or any insight on how tab controls are supposed to be setup or anything would be greatly appreciated.
Problem: Error "There is no object in this control." needs to not come up.
Details: I have made a database with a front and back end. All the files are in a folder on our server hard drive. When the user opens the front end and the switchboard is supposed to come up I get an error that says "There is no object in this control." I do not even get that working on my computer that I made the database on.
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to fix this. I know it is something simple but I am not sure where to even look to fix this problem.
I added a new field to one of my tables and query, but when I try to add a control for that field into my form it is not recognising it and the field isn't appearing in the sources for the form, even though the table is sourced to the form? Or am I going to have to do the usual and redo the entire form because I made a minor adjustment?
I have a form with a tab control, inside the tab control I placed an ActiveX control (Microsoft Web Browser). These are at the bottom of the form.
Everything displays fine if the entire form fit on the screen but if the form is too long and I scroll down the browser control is getting obscured by the tab control and getting chopped off (the contents are covered). It is as if the browser control is staying in space where it was and moving behind the tab control as I scroll.
This problem does not occur if I place the browser control directly on the form. Also I note that the browser control is sitting correctly within the tab control.
I have been through all the settings and properties of both controls and haven't been able to fix it. I searched all over the web but no one has previously stumbled across this one by the look of it.
I have table that I had to add a new field to which we update with a form. I tried to add a control for the new field but the field does not show up in the list for the control source. I am trying to add a list box to the form with a blank and 5 options.
I have attached screen shots of the table design and the form. The table has the field in datasheet view and I have manually entered a few entries in it but it still will not show in the control source for the form control. The top section of the form is where we enter and select the data for the new records. The bottom section (circled in red) autofills the matching record, from separate tables, for updating with the new entries.
I have added form controls for modified fields in the past so I am confused about why this is happening.
OK. I have searched and searched and every thread dances around similar situations but none seem to address this particular one. I am trying to make a control on a sub form visible/not visible depending on the condition of a control on a main form. The catch is that the control I'm trying to change the state of is on a subform located in a tab control. I've tried a thousand combinations and none seem to work. How do I reference the control on the subform in a tab control?
Main Form: frmMemberMain Tab Control: TabCtl12 Tab Control Page: 2 Subform: frmChildren Control on subform: txtRelationship
Can someone please help before my brain explodes!! Thanks!
I have reviewed the posts for 'Control Validation' and dowloaded the sample database kindly posted by ansentry.
In the PaymentAmount example, a name has to be entered in the first control before an amount is enterered in the second control. If the controls and tab order are reversed, the validation doesn't work.
I have a form where the 1st Control needs validating before moving on. The code below doesn't work.
Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) If IsNull(Me.Employee_No) Then MsgBox "Employee No Required", vbCritical, "Data required " Cancel = True Me.Employee_No.SetFocus Exit Sub End If
Im new to asp and access and have been having this problem for serveral weeks.
Every couple of days, all the asp pages on my site that communicate with the database start having 500 internal errors. i turned off the "Show friendly error messages" and one page gave me this specific error:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Unspecified error
/admin/submitlogin.asp, line 8
I have tried a million things and have no idea why this is happening. Im not sure what other information i should post in order to see the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
Private Sub NextApplication_Click() On Error GoTo Err_NextApplication_Click DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNext
Exit_NextApplication_Click: Exit Sub
Err_NextApplication_Click: If Err.Number = 2105 Then MsgBox "Cannot navigate to the next record. This is the last record." Else MsgBox Err.Description End If
Resume Exit_NextApplication_Click
End Sub
but even when this error occurs nothing is being properly handled the way i specified - any ideas ?
Does anybody know what this error message refers to?
"Reserved Error (-1517); there is no message for this error."
It just started happening today, and I haven't even made any changes to the database. It occurs when I hit a button I have to run a macro.
the macro does the following: 1) Shows all records 2) Requery 3) ApplyFilter. The Where Condition for the filter is: Right([tblContracts].[JobNum],4)=Right([Forms]![FrmContProc].[txtFindJobNum],4)
The weird thing is that it only occurs if the Form window is taller than 1/2 of my viewable area. If the Form window is 1/2 the viewable area or shorter, it works OK. This was running fine earlier today, but about 4:00 pm (03/31/06) this started happening.
If anybody knows what this error means, or how to get rid of it (I really need to use this window in full-screen) then please let me know.
Okay, I'm kind of stumped here.I have a subform that has a button that sends a user to a "sibling" subform on another tab page, pass some information to ensure they are adding more details to the same records rather than creating two separate record.First time I programmed it, I got an error 3022 (keys cannot have duplicate values). I checked the query of the sibling subform and saw that the ID is from the one side table. I changed it so many table's foreign key is used. Second try, I got an error 3341 (there isn't a matching key in one side table). After some thinking, it also occured to me that I had set the query this way to allow addition of new record which wouldn't be possible if I had the query pulling the many side key, not the one side key.How do I get the subform to accept the ID that is being passed and create a new record using that ID?
Private Sub Consolidate_Click() Dim temp As Variant Excel.Application.Visible = True temp = Dir(CurrentProject.Path & "Inputs") Do While temp <> vbNullString
[Code] ....
From the second iteration its not picking the error.
