Expression To Create A File Code

I have a main filing table and three look up tables (file cabinet, topic, and subtopic). In the three look up tables I have created short codes to identify the name of the field.
I want to create a main filing code that takes the codes from each lookup table and combines it into one field. If the location of the file changed I would need the code to change.
Example file cabinet location Rod 1 is R1, Accounting is AP; file topic Active Jobs is ACTJOB, Bank Transactions is BANKTR; subtopic Northeast Fire Station is NETCFS. For the file for the fire station the code would read R1ACTJOBNETCFS.
The form is set up as a cascading combo.
The only purpose for this field is to allow me to do a mail merge to create labels so that I can re-file folders easier without having to go into the database and look up the locations.
I don't know if I should create the expression in the form or if I should do something in the table field.

I am trying to create some code for a button in a report that will follow a hyperlink to a specific file. The problem I'm having is that the files that are at the end of the hyperlink can have various extensions (*.doc, *.docx, *.pdf, etc.) I'd like to be able to put a wildcard in the code to allow the opening of the file regardless of the extension.
Code so far:

Hi, i am making a stock control program in Access. I have designed several tables, forms and queries etc. but have come stuck at the point where i want to create a button so when i click it, it automatically changes the stock level of all the products that are low in stock, to their "target stock level".
I am confused about how to do this. I tried making a button and going into the expression builder and putting:
=[Product Stock Level]=([Product Target Stock]-[Product Stock Level])+[Product Stock Level]
This would basically change the stock level to the target stock level. But when i press the button, nothing happens.
Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to change the way date calculations are done in a training db. I show them now in an expression in my query as Between Date() And Date()-365, but I need to show them based on a FY beginning 7/1 of any year and ending on 6/30 of any year. Any suggestions?

I am trying to create an expression to pull data from 2011 to present date. I need the data for 2011 to only reflect 1/1/11 through 10/7/11 (today's date in 2011). I need the same for 2012 and 2013.
I don't want to have to enter dates each time I run this, therefore, a formula would be preferred rather than hard numbers.

a ER programm gives the following output to an sql code, which it pretends it should be for Access 97. Till now I haven't found an idea of how to create a table using the SQL statement CREATE. As a matter of fact it returns me an error of Create statement or something, even if I tried any available query form.

I am writing a very complex 'if statement' query expression. I need to create an alias column based on data from two data fields.
Here's the logic:
True: If [PP] = "WG" or "WS" or "WL" and If [GR] > 10 Then "Skilled" or

I have an issue with a code that I have in a form which adds rows in a table as many times as categories chosen from a list. However, the code is not working correctly: it adds the information and creates a row with a category in blank, in addition to the rest of the rows with one of the chosen categories. I would like for this not to happen, to add only as many rows as the categories chosen.
My code is the following:

I am using MS Access 2007 and I am trying, from my VBA code, to execute (or run) a Batch file. Now the batch foile works, but not from my code.
I used to be able to just do this --> Call Shell("S:AccountingAPTex FilesFile List Generator.cmd ", 1) And it would runit. But using this I get a message telling me that it is an invalid procedure call. So upon looking around on the net I found tha ton place said that with MS Access 2007 you need to do this:
Call Shell(Environ$("COMSPEC") & " /c S:AccountingAP1099 ITEMSW9 FolderCorrected 2011 W9File List Generator.cmd ", vbNormalFocus)
But while it does not error out it dooes noting eitheer. What the batch file does, when it works, is produces a list of all the file names in a folder.

I use office 2003, first I had to convert my database, then I did the database splitting then, remove all menus from running at startup, I tried to create an mde file but it didn’t work.
This is what I got:
This error is usually associated with compiling a large database into an MDE file. Due to the method used to compile the database, a considerable number of TableID references are created for each table. The Microsoft Jet database engine version 4.0 can only create a maximum of 2048 open TableIDs at one time. Exporting a database as an MDE potentially can exceed this limit if the database has a large number of objects (table, macro, form, report, etc).
There is no accurate method to estimate the number of TableIDs the Jet database engine uses during the process of compiling a database as an MDE. However, each VBA module and each form uses one TableID, as a result, if the database has 500 forms, and each form's HasModule property is set to Yes, as many as 1,000 TableIDs are used.
So installed office XP and tried the same steps but still not working.

I have a sales report that I generate each week based on a query, which relies on the input from a combo box on a form. This works great - but I have select each salesperson, one at a time and run their reports separately.
I'd like to have some code that will run through each person on the list, generate their report, create the PDF, and email (or save) the file.From my initial research, it appears I will need to utilize a List Box (vs a combo box), so I can select multiple salespersons for the report.
I've found a few examples of code to use...but a little lost on how to implement. I create a new form with a list box that queries the property table for the list. I then added a button to execute the code, and attempted to add this (with my control and reports names substituted). Getting all sorts of errors -- so not sure I'm on the correct path.

I have a database with customers/orders etc. I need to create a form or something which will show if a duplicate customer is entered. I know about the duplicate records query wizard, but I also need an easy way to consolidate and delete records. When a duplicate customer is found, move the customers order/s [OrderNumber] to the existing customer and delete the new/latest customer record.
Customers are in tblCustomers, their orders are in tblCustomerOrders, [CustomerNumber] is the joining field.
I was thinking of just a date/time field for [DateCustomerEntered] with default value Now to keep track of the later customers?

I'm having a small difficulty in using the code example ghudson posted for Browse [Find a directory or file]. First off, the code works great. Thanks a lot for posting it!
The problem I am having is when linking a folder via dBrowseDirectory. The folders I am linking are on a shared network drive and I am trying to figure out how to set the initial directory to default to the networked PC. This way the user doesn't have to navigate to the shared drive every time. All they would have to do is navigate to the particular folder to link (2 clicks instead of 10+).
The dBrowseFiles function allows to set an initial directory, however I cannot figure out how to set it for dBrowseDirectory. Is there any way to do this by altering your code for dBrowseDirectory?

I am an access novice so was wondering in anyone can help me.

1) Import a file from my local hard drive into a designated table in access
2) Export a number of tables back onto my local hard drive

A have a table with many records and each record has a hyperlink to a document. Based on some criteria i want to attach the hyperlink file to an email. Don't want to have to do this manually. Is there anyway i can write code to go and get the hyperlink file and then attach the physical file into the email? This could result in 1 file being attached, 13 files being attached, 0 files etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have this function. I need to get all the table names from the selected access file into a list so I can do a for loop after.
I can't figure out how to set the CurrentDb() to the path one. This code gives me the table names and some other names of stuff which I don't know what they are. But for the current database not the one in the path.

I am just having a heck of a time, in trying to make a custom help file.
Has anyone had any luck? I sure would like to see a sample database, showing a
custom help file. I just about tried everything, but not to smart about setting one up.
I have tried the wizzard as well. I know where I get hung up is, trying to map the help file,
to the Help ID number.

I was able to create a MDE database from .MDB file (1900 KB) using Access2000 but not on the other database (5000 KB)
I followed the steps (under tool -database utilities- make MDE file), the message box shown " Microsoft Access was unable to create a MDE database"
Is there any limit on the size of the file? What should i do or check?
