Faster Movement Of Report Object With Pictures When Scrolling
Jul 9, 2013
My report has in each row at least 1 picture which is about 1.5" square when open; however, when trying to scroll up or down the pictures dazzles on and off while the pausing the scroll which moves slowly. If the pictures are removed the scrolling movement is normal.
How can this report scrolling be made more efficient?
I have a function which exports some data to Excel, performs some work, and then attaches the final report to an e-mail. As a result of various temporary columns being added / removed (for formulas to determine scope etc.), the main sheet ends up scrolled to the bottom of the used range. Before I attach it to the e-mail, I want to scroll the sheet back to the top-left corner (A1).
Code:
Public appExcel As Object ' Excel Application object (late-bound) Dim objWorksheet As Object ' Excel Worksheet object (late-bound) objWorksheet.Activate With appExcel With .ActiveWindow .ScrollRow = 1 .ScrollColumn = 1 End With End With
It worked up until this week, when I had to make some changes to the rest of the code to refine the output. Now, when it hits the ".ScrollRow = 1" line, I get RTE 91..how I can get the sheet to scroll to the top-left before I save it? (Such that, when subsequently attached to the e-mail, the recipient will open the workbook at the top-left cell and not sacrolled to the bottom).
I wanted to create a Stock Movement Report, but I am not quite sure how.....I need some help.....
I have these tables: M_Stock (Stock information) T_GRN & T_GRN_Detail (Good Received information) T_IIS & T_IIS_Detail (Internal Issue information)
I need to do a report stating the opening balance, the activities (ins & outs), and the closing balance....like this:
StockCode: A01-001
DocNo Bal B/F In Out Bal C/F ------------------------------------------- I98999 10 0 2 8 56557 8 4 0 12 22222 12 0 1 11
Can someone lend me a hand on this? I have tried to build queries for this, but the running balance keeps counting from the first opening balance (10).....thanks in advance
I have an odd thing happening with my reports. There is a main report that gives class information (from query). There are two subreports (from queries also ) with scores (one for each type of test). There are some unbound controls on the main form that display a count of how many scores are recorded which are totals from the subreports. The controls all report the correct numbers however, when I scroll down to view each record, some of them change to #error, or #name, or similar for a moment. Sometimes they will stay in error form when I stop scrolling but change to correct if I scroll up just a bit. Is this because the controls won't calculate unless that report record has focus?
I have a report that shows information on a property, and most have only one pictures, but some have several. The picture name is the same as the property code on the one's with only one pictures for example 1500-1111 is the property name and the picutres is 1500-1111 The only difference in the picture name on the properties with multiple picutes is that they have an a, b, c, d etc after the code, for example the first pictures is 1500-1234 and the second is 1500-1234a and the third is 1500-1234b etc, and the property code is 1500-1234.
I need to figure out a way for all the pictures to show up if there is multiples. The report only contains info on one side, so the other could line up the pictures in a column form. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

I am using Access 2003 in a simple database and want to add digital pictures of each item in my database.
Before trying to enhance the database with pictures; the various fields are filled with either descriptive text or numbers. The size of the mdb database file is 464k.
I recently wanted to add a picture of each database entry. After adding a picture that is only 300k in size the mdb file increase to 18MD. Then after adding another picture also of 300k bytes my database grew to 25MB.
In the drop down menus Under Tools - Database Utilities - I ran the Compact & Repair Database. This did not reduce the size.
In the database Form I am using a Bound Object Frame to hold the picture and yes I am not linking the picture I am including it in the database. But, would only expect it to increase the database size by slightly more than the picture size.
I should also point out that the only way I have found to get the picture to be visible (not just an icon of the type of picture file) is to right click on the Bound Object Frame scroll down and choose Insert Object. Click on Create New and select Adobe Photoshop Image. This open adobe photoshop I make sure the picture properties are creating a picture of 300k.
So my question(s) is again. Why is my database increasing in size so rapidly? Is there a better to insert picture into a database?
I have two tables containing (let's say for simplicity) questions and attachments (pictures). I am trying to perform a union query to join all the questions and pictures into one report, but it won't let me union the attachment because 'the multi-valued field 'TableA.Pictures' cannot be used in a union query'.
I have searched and searched for a solution (and got kind of close) but i still can't get it to work. The best I can do is union everything like below, which gives all the questions as desired, but says #Error in the pictures column:
SELECT TableA.* FROM TableA Union SELECT TableB.* FROM TableB;
(Note tables A and B have the same structure, several yes/no and open text questions as well as one attachment field. )

how to optimize my code to run faster???
the images are 1 KB size , 16x16 pixels and .bmp All of them are insert inside db.
i think images are too small to slow down my code. Can i write the code in a different way?
I am opening a query in Access which has two linked sql tables but it takes to long to open. Can I choose a method (ADO) opening that query? If not, is there a way to speed up the process?
See attached image. I am looking for ways to make my query run faster. When I run this query for small groups which will return less than 100 records, the query takes about 30 seconds. However I have some groups that have over 1000 records and that will take 3-5 minutes to run. Actually sometimes the query even bombs after 30 seconds on the large groups.
This query hits against a linked SQL database. Three of the fields gets the criteria from a form combo box. The thing that makes this query take so long is the Count. It counts the number of times the Signature Type "duedte" has been changed.
I am looking for any suggestions for how to speed this up. I want real time results so I was not sure if copying the data locally each time then running the queries would help any in the overall time.
Few days ago I found some VB code which autometically move the cursor to the left of the field (with input mask) in a form to begin with... I mean whereever you click the cursor in the field it autometically comes in the beginning (left)...
I remember i have tried it with a sample form... but now today i can't find it...
I think i lost it...
Today i have searched the forum for this but coudn't retrive it...
I revised my DB thinking that one big form divided by Page Tabs would speed things up. Wrong. It slowed everything down to a crawl. I found the more I broke up Forms into sub-forms the faster things went.
Incidentally this may be the answer to the problem I posted about Permission Lockups. (See Access 2000 Permission lockup posted on 2/20/08). I noticed that the big form version requested to save forms that I think I had not even opened. So when I encountered the problem on installing the DB on my network, I just did two or three saves just for luck. This seemed to do the trick. This suggested that my Permission Lockup may have been due to not all Forms had been saved on closing.
The evidence is circumstantial but I have had no trouble since.
Im new in using MS Access. How i can "tick" the yes/no button faster. I have almost 3,000 boxes to tick and its making my wrist ache... Unlike in excel where i can just drag it to the last cell....
I want to put a company logo in my report ( object/picture) but when I send the report via w-mail or link it to a word document it disappears. is it not possible for it to stay in the report.
There are multiple employees on a table, each with a period of time for which they worked. I am trying to gather these times together to see how many complete records I have for the time period of 4/1/1999 to 12/31/2004. So, for example,
Employee 1 works from 4/1/1999 to 12/31/2000.
Employee 2 works from 1/1/2000 to 12/31/2004.
(From these two records, there will be 1 complete record of 4/1/99 to 12/31/04 AND 1 remaining record for the year 2000 left over.)
Employee 3 works from 1/1/2000 to 12/31/2004.
(From these three records, 1 complete record + 2 2000 + 1 each for the years 2000-2004.)
Employee 4 works from 1/1/2001 to 12/31/2003.
(= 1 complete + 2 2000 + 2 2001-2003 + 1 2004)
Employee 5 works from 4/1/1999 to 12/31/1999
(= 2 complete + 1 2000 + 1 2001-2003)
And this goes on for all the employees. I need to find out the end amount of how many complete records and remaining dates all the employees have worked. I hope this was at least, somewhat clear. I remember doing something similar to this ages ago in programming class, but since then, my mind has degraded. =P Any help, insights, or advice would be greatly appreciated on how to get this done. =)
Hi I have some drop downs on my form, which has some code that decides which recordsource to use. When I first select an option from the drop down, the query takes 10 seconds to load data. I then select another option, which runs a different query, which takes x seconds. If I then select the original option from the dropdown, the data loads onto the form in less than a second.
Why is there a delay the first time round and not the next? Has Access saved some kind of query plan? If so, why doesn't it save it permanently?
Hello all. I have deleted a Report but the underlying reference in the VBE editor in the CLASS OBJECTS list remains for the report and is giving me errors during run and compile.
Any idea how to delete the Class Object once the object has been deleted?
I want to perform in this query that Opening balance + Dr - Cr = Closing balance. And the next day my opening balance will equal to the date() -1 closing balance. And when todays movement DR and CR take changes it will also take affect on closing balance. Here I have two questions 1st is how can I built a qry that will make todays opening equal to last day closing . Can I have to built two queries or make another table that store last day closing then create relationship and again built a query that perform.
I am trying to join a number of reports into one report. I have a generic report which displays a different dataset given the user's choice on a form. I created a collection where I can store multiple instances of this report (called mcolReportInstances) - this works just fine.
I was looking to combine all the reports in the collection into one report. To that end, I have created a report with a number of subreport controls but with no sourceobject. In the On_Open event of this blank report, I am trying to set the source object of the subreport to one of reports in my collection:
Using a Microsoft Chart Object 6.0 in an Access 2010 report. It's easy enough to do the basics and that chart responds to data.In my case, I have 12 lines, or columns, being controlled by data. It responds to the data. just fine. What I want to do is control the line weight and colour of each line through VBA.
You can click on the chart itself on the report form, but formatting the line you actually want is almost impossible. Pretending we can, you get the pop-up configuration windows and the TAB "PATTERNS". Under that, you can select "LINE" and then choose the style, color and weight. This is what I need to do in VBA.
Lines like this do not work:Graph_Data.Columns("A").Line.Weight = 5 or... objDataSheet.Columns("A").Line.Weight = 5I tried a variety of versions of that and am pulling my hair out.
When I attempt to create a new DB - by performing Blank Database I immediately get a message 'Object Library not registered'.
If I 'OK' that box and try to create a table, I can do so - create Table in design view.
When I then try to Import external data - an excel file I get the message 'ActiveX component Can't create object'.
I have looked ob various sites for help and forum information regarding these errors but have found nothing conclusive, with specidfic regard to Access 2003.
The version has been loaded on my machine about 1 year as part pf Office Professional but this is the first time I have attempted to run Access itself.
Does any forum member have any ideas as to how this problem could be resolved.
I am currently building a database for the company I work for that is fairly similar to the Northwind Database; however it is made from scratch so hopefully some of the common problems with that database won't find their way into mine.My problem is that when I go to my Orders form, I pick a customer from the main form, which creates a record on the Orders table. When I then go to the subform to choose a product/line item, I get the error in my title ("The LinkMasterFields property setting has produced this error: 'The object doesn't contain the Automation object 'OrdersT.") as soon as a product is chosen from the drop down list.
I have a pop up form with a datasheet as a sub form. We use the up and down arrows to move between records. The problem is using the down arrow is 4 to 5 times slower than using the up arrow. This becomes a big problem when we hold down the arrow to move down 50 or more records. I believe it has something to do with the way the screen is repainted because in testing if I shrink the datasheet to show only 3 or 4 records the up and down movement is almost identical and matches the performance of the excel spreadsheet that this form was based on. Is there any fix for this?
