FieldNames In Subject Line Of SendObject Action In Macro

Aug 6, 2004

I have a Macro setup and SendObject is one of the Actions. It is setup to send an existing report. Is there a way to insert a fieldname from that report into the Subject line of the e-mail that is sent? That would be great, instead of having the same subject line for every e-mail, using the date or something like that. Please let me know. Thanks.

Email In Snapshot Format And Subject Line

Oct 28, 2004

Hi,

I have been reading all of your post for days now and can't find the answer to my question.

I have however found the answer to one of my programming problems. Thanks to all of you.

I have used Access as a data supplier but this is my first attempt to program in access.

I have absolutly no experience with VB code. And a limited amount of experience with macros in access only.

My question(s) are:

1. I need to send a single report (page) in an email (snapshot format) to a person using a command button. This report should be sent from the form that the person is currently looking at. Currently my command button sends the report in snapshot format but it sends the whole database.

2. This report will be used as a tracking mechanism for another department and I will need a specific name to store the email in a certain location. So that it can be tracked at a later date. I want (that doesn't mean that it can) Access to automatically put the subject line in the email. I know under the sendobject macro you can set the subject line the same for each email. But I need the subject line to match the information in several of my text boxes from a table. For instance: Subject line should read: [Permit number][CountyId][Inspector's Initials][Date]. Can this be done at all and if so how.

Thanks so much for all that you have done already.

Tasha

Using DLast Or DMax Functions Within SetValue Action In Macro

Oct 28, 2012

I am building a purchase requisition (PR) database.

The tables are (simplified) as follows:

Table1 - tbl_PRList - contains only 3 fields with one of these fields being the "PR No".
Table2 - tbl_PRData - contains all the item data, also with a field "PR No".

The intent of the "item entry" form is to add items to the latest PR that has been generated.

So, whenever an item that is to be placed on the new PR, you type in the item description, qty, etc in the form and then you press a button that saves this item to the main 'data' table (Table1). What I would like to do is, "on click" of this button, I'd like this record, prior to it moving to the next record, to set the value of the PR No field in Table 1 to be the same as the DLast value of the Table2 table.

Reports :: Save Report As PDF - Output To Action Cancelled With Access VB Macro

Jan 12, 2015

One of the users of my application, reports an error when saving a report to pdf by VBA code. She’s using Access 2013, on Windows 8.1.

The error is “error 2501 output to action was cancelled with access vb macro”

The VBA code is

StrReport = “RepInvoice”
StrDocumentName = “C:UsersMaryDocumentsAccessInvoice.pdf”
DoCmd.OpenReport StrReport, acViewPreview
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, StrReport, "PDFFormat(*.pdf)", StrDocumentName, False
DoCmd.Close acReport, StrReport, acSaveNo

This error occurs at the OutputTo line. This code is part of an user form with a button “save as PDF”.
When this code is run, the report is visible as an example (as meant to be) on the screen. The code stops at the OutputTo line.

When I use
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, StrReport, acFormatPDF, StrDocumentName,, False
the problem still exists.

I tried to save the report manually by Preview > Export > PDF. The preview is OK, saving as PDF results in the same error 2501. This may lead to the conclusion that this problem is not caused by the VBA code.

I verified whether user write rights are OK, and whether a default printer is available. Both are OK. The report consists of 1 page.
When this very same application is used with Access 2010, everything functions as expected.

Forms :: Increase Maximum Characters Allowed In Expression Of Macro Setvalue Action

Apr 23, 2013

Is there a way to increase the maximum characters allowed in an expression of a macro setvalue action ?

I have an expression in a macro setvalue action that adds multiple form textbox values. I need to change the form name from "RATING ENGINE 2" to "E RATING ENGINE 2". When I do this, I exceed the maximum characters allowed in the expression. Is there a way I can rename "RATING ENGINE 2" without this problem. The expression is as follows:

Create FieldNames Using Field Value

Aug 20, 2004

I have a table in an Access 2000 database: [SAP_Survey_Answers] that contains FieldNames: CO_ID, ES_ID,
PKey, QFieldName, QAnswer. The *_ID are ID#, QFieldName lists the questions in a survey, & QAnswer corresponds to the QFieldName and gives the answer given by the customer. Here's the dilema: I need to create a new table with CO_ID, ES_ID as Field Names BUT I also need each question as a new field name. How can this be done? Query? SQL statement? I've been racking my brain on this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Automate Changes Of Fieldnames In Tables/queries

Jan 31, 2008

I have a reasonable large dbase with some 12 tables and some 40 Queries.
In three of the tables, there are fields with dubious names like AA1, CD-3, 227, etc.
I want to change these field names to some more appropriate names like : Testblok , Cspeler, Jaarnummer, etc, etc.

In doing so, I will have to go thru each and every Query ( and at a later stage forms/reports) to change the fieldnames in that query corresponding to the changes I made in the initial table field name.

Would there be another way of doing this, i.e. is there a routine for changes made in the fieldnames, being automatically updated in the table bound query.

Union Queries And Selecting Fieldnames With Criteria

Oct 18, 2006

I am trying to combine fields (different columns) into one field. However I am trying to have a criteria for the fieldname. For example I wish only to combine the columns that contain the text 2003 (ie [Value 2003],[Price 2003]). I have tried to use wildcards in SQl ie select * from [query] where * = %2003. I must be missing something because I can't seem to work it out. It must be simple. I have also tried several ways through the design grid with wildcards in expressions. I also don't want to union the columns by using the exact names ie [Value 2003]& [Price 2003] because additional columns may be added.

Any help, extremely appreciated, I have wasted a whole day with this.

Is Replication A Taboo Subject?

Jul 27, 2005

I have posted on a couple of other sites and have not had an answer in two days on a replicated database question. Is this a taboo subject, or is there just not a lot known about it?

I have a FE/BE Database that has 25 users. Two of these users moved offsite and are having huge speed issues. What I have gotten out of my research is the best thing to do is create a replica of the backend and transfer that replica to the offsite agents pc. This way everything is on their C drive instead of the BE being on the network and the only speed issues they will have is when they synchronize the replica w/ the backend.

Here is my problem. How do I create a button on the FE of the Database that will cause the BE on their PC to synchronize with the Design Master BE on the network?

I have a limited understanding of VBA.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Queries :: Remove GROUP BY Line And Stick Semicolon At End Of Previous Line

Jun 25, 2013

Code:

sqlfinal = "SELECT Employees.ID, Employees.Name "
sqlfinal = sqlfinal & "FROM ((qryDeptVBA INNER JOIN qrySkillVBA ON qryDeptVBA.ID = qrySkillVBA.ID) "
sqlfinal = sqlfinal & "INNER JOIN Employees ON qryDeptVBA.ID = Employees.ID) "
sqlfinal = sqlfinal & "INNER JOIN qryAreaVBA ON Employees.ID = qryAreaVBA.EmpID "
sqlfinal = sqlfinal & "GROUP BY Employees.ID, Employees.Name;"

If i simply remove the GROUP BY line and stick the semicolon at the end of the previous line (.EmpID; ) it works just fine. How is adding a group by line causing an error?I tried adding another parenthes at the beginning ((( and ending the joins as EmpID); and that failed with the exact same error.

Modules & VBA :: How To Import Text File Line By Line

Nov 18, 2014

I am having a little difficulty with my importing in Access. Every time I import my text file, the lines will be jumbled. I have been reading up and I found this recordset code that seems to be what I need:

Code:
Dim strLine As String
Dim intLineNum As Integer
Dim MyDB As DAO.Database
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
Open "C:TestTest.txt" For Input As #1
Set MyDB = CurrentDb
Set rst = MyDB.OpenRecordset("tblResults", dbOpenDynaset)
CurrentDb.Execute "DELETE * FROM tblResults", dbFailOnError 'Clear tblResults

[code]....

Basically, this code will extract data from the text file as long as it fulfills the Mid$ criteria. Here's where my problem comes. Each line in my text file is of different lengths and I have to capture the entire line.

I think using the Left$ function would work, but I don't know how to determine the character count such that the entire line of text would be inserted into the table.

Another difference between what I need and the code above is that, I am required to store each line into each row of my table, meaning

Line 1 is placed in Row 1 Column 1
Line 2 is placed in Row 2 Column 1
Line 3 is placed in Row 3 Column 1
.
.
.
Line X is placed in Row X Column 1.

Car a
Car b
Car c
House B
Car a
Car b
Car c

Modules & VBA :: Update Subject Of Emails In Outlook That Have Already Been Received

Jul 22, 2014

I'm trying to automate some processes. My company uses Outlook 2010 and every day we need to go into our "Sent" folder and rename the Subject line of all of our sent emails. We change the subject to a standardized format depending on the content of the email and who the email was sent to. These are then used as part of an equation to tally our Transactions Per Hour. (TPH)

I've already designed a small Access 2010 utility to track the TPH, but I would like to add the functionality to parse some data from the subject lines of my "Sent" folder, and automatically make changes to save some time.

Here is my thought process:

- Click "Process Sent Emails" button from TPH utility.
- Access runs through each email in the "Sent" folder (or perhaps only selected emails) and changes the Subject line per simple Select Case criteria (I can figure that part out).

I've a problem and hope to get answers for,

The situation is that I have a table named patient and a form named [patient1] where it holds a textboxs named "MFC_Seq_no" and another to hold [date], now, I manged to do a manual auto numbering for "MFC_Seq_no" using the following VB :

If Me.NewRecord Then
On Error Resume Next
Me!MFC_Seq_no.DefaultValue = Nz(DMax("[MFC_Seq_no]", "Patient"), 0) + 1
End If

Whenever user create new record, the system will automatically store the next number in the new record.

Now, I've be requested to code that system to start again from 1 as value for "MFC_Seq_no" whenever there are changes in date field (i.e. next day in the date field)

Is this doable and how?

Q2. how to duplicate an entire record with a subform, from another table, in it?
