I would like to insert the currrent time in a feild on my form once a checkbox is ticked.

I have been trying to get the current month automatically filled into a field (like with the Now() function but to show the current month only)
iv searched the forums and had no luck as well as trying a number of different ways to do it but havnt had much success.

Auto Fill In And Check Data From Other Tables
Mar 15, 2007I am new to Access, and I need some help for this project I am working on. Please let me know if my question doesn't make sense.
I have created four tables: Clients, Tenants, Property, Contract
Clients
Client ID | Client Name |
Tenants
Tenants ID | Property ID | First Name | Last Name
Property
Property ID | Client Name | Contract ID
Contract
Contract ID | Clients ID | Client Name | Tenant ID | Tenant Name |Property ID |
Is there a way that when I enter Client Name in the Contract table, Client ID would automatically come up and check against other fields in the table if the information entered in Contract table is in sync and relevant against to data entered in Client, Tenants, and Property table?
Please let me know if this is not clear and I need explain more. Thank you.
Queries :: Time Calculation Using Current Time?
Oct 9, 2014I need a Select Query to display data on a form. When an order is appended to my table the field named Printed is updated with the time it was appended. When my form opens it needs to display the field Printed and a field I call MinutesFromPrint. This field needs to display the total minutes elapsed from the time in the Printed field to the current time. My expression is not working.
MinutesFromPrint: DateDiff("n",[Printed],Now())
Here are a couple of samples of my results when I run the query at 7:49 A.M.:

The code executes flawlessy but there are three values that are based off check boxes set as YES/NO (EMPLOYEDATREGISTRATION, EMPLOYED and FRINGEBENEFITS). These values show up as -1 for YES and 0 for NO.
Is there anyway to add code to mine that would allow me to change these values before they are sent to the Word template?
Reports :: Force Unbound Check Box To False / No Gray Fill
Mar 2, 2015I have a report that generates an in-house physical invoice for an event. On this report is a small section for a staff member to make hand written notes regarding when we call a week before the event as a final confirmation.
I want to have an empty check box in this section for the person to put a hand-written check. I tried creating an unbound check box in the report but it defaults to the gray fill of a null valued check box when printed.I tried setting it's default value in the report to 0 but for some reason I can't find a Default Value field among it's properties in the Property side bar. I did some research and thought that setting the Triple State value to No would solve this issue but it didn't.
How I can get rid of the gray fill when the report is printed? The field is completely unbound--this check box is purely for hand written notes, it has nothing to do with the database itself.

Spell Check Current Record Only?
Aug 11, 2005How do you make the spell checker not cycle through all your records when you run it? As it is right now, when a user tries to spell check their entry into the summary block of my form it automatically starts with the first record in the database and goes from there.
This is in Access2003 BTW.

Aug 18, 2015I am building a database to track contract of employees so that I can know which contracts are valid and which are expired.
My table has the following fields:
ID (Primary key)
Employee ID (Foreign key to link to the employee table)
Start_Date
End_Date
Status (Either valid or expired)
Challenge
I want when I enter the end date, the system checks the end date against the current date and fills in the status field with either valid or expired as appropriate. For instance if the contract end date is March 10,2016, the status must be filled in the word valid.
Comparing Current Time

Automatically Inserting Current Time
Nov 11, 2007I am trying to get the current time to display in the same record as an identity number.
I am using a barcode scanner to identify the ID number. Using a program called BC Wedge it will place the ID number into a field in a table of the database. I also want it to record the current time the ID number was scanned.
I tried setting the default value of the 2nd field to Now(), however this does record the current time, but in a new record. This basically gives me a list of ID numbers from the barcode scanner and a list of recorded times, however all the times are one record out.
Is there anyway to get the recorded time to be placed in the same record as the ID number?
As far as I am aware the BC Wedge software needs to have the table in table view, although I may be wrong about this.
Hope somebody can help me with this.
Current Date/Time Field
Mar 23, 2005I have a form with date/time field. I have the default value at =Now(). My problem is I would like for this particular field to stay with the current date/time all the time. I mean if I created a form last week with the date/time of 3/14/2005 12:54:34 PM and go back to the same form to edit something this week I would like for that particular date/time to be the current date/time and not the date/time from the week and time the original form was created.

If you don’t start the timer right away you don’t have the correct time.

Mar 5, 2008I have two fields in my form contained Start time and End time. Currently, Both fields using default Time$() on form. However, End time always wrong because until we get our job done, It took atleast 20 or 30 minutes more than current default time. My question is, is there any way I can setup the End time to just click on it, and a new current default time populated?

the table is a one to many (parent/child). the OrderID is the parent. i have used a DSum to calculate the duration and the '+' is to add the start time to the duration which should leave the finish time. then the second part '>' to see if it is greater than any other start time.in my theory this will work but i dont know if access will search all records that have the same date.

Jun 30, 2014Encountered a situation where the Date and Time functions in VBA are not using current data? I have VBA code that uses Time to determine certain actions. A new associate took a copy of that code and started tinkering with it to complete a project I assigned. Now, his copy of the code returns old data for the Date and Time functions. It returns 5/27/2014 for Date and 7:15:42 AM for Time. The Now function works properly.
Additionally, running the Date and Time functions in queries works fine. I've compacted and repaired the Access database, I've checked the references, and I've checked to see if he assigned values to variables named Date or Time, but I don't see anything wrong. What am I missing?

Apr 2, 2013I have a form which im using to store records about companies that I have mailings with. The company name is my unique field as no two companies should have the same name. This form is accessed by several different people and data is input so I dont want duplicates of the company name being produced. Currently, the form wont save a record if it is duplicated but by then I would have filled out the entire form and wasted my time. Is there a way to do the following:
As I enter the company name it would look up exisitng company names. eg if i wanted to enter a new company called 'Dans Plumbing', I would type 'D' and below the text box would display a load of existing records starting with D. after that when I type 'Da' it would only display records starting with Da and so on. All being well, when I have finished typing the company name there should be nothing underneath so that I instantly know its not a duplicate and vice versa.
The possible duplicate doesn't have to be underneath it could auto complete IN the text box a bit like the address bar on a web browser.
