I want to create a query that looks for a manual line break in a memo field. Is there a code or some way that I can do this? (i.e in a Memo field the user has entered some data, hit Ctrl-enter to get to a new line, entered more data on the new line. I want to find the records where this has occured)
Also, on a similar note, is there a way I can deny my users the option of doing a manual break (Ctrl-Enter) in a Control in a Form? (to prevent me needing to run this query in the future)
I have created an expression in a query to create an address label. My intention is to create one that looks like: Name Address City, State Zipcode
To get the proper line breaks, I used the Alt + enter method. Though it is not visible when I look at it in SQL, the fields appear on separate lines. Here is the actual expression used: MailLabel: Nz([Title] & ' ') & [FName] & ' ' & [LName] & ' ' & [Extension] & ' ' & [ADDRESS] & ' ' & [CITY] & ', ' & [STATE] & ' ' & [Zipcode]
Problem: Sporadically, the database drops my line breaks and the expression becomes: MailLabel: Nz([Title] & ' ') & [FName] & ' ' & [LName] & ' ' & [Extension] & ' ' & [ADDRESS] & ' ' & [CITY] & ', ' & [STATE] & ' ' & [Zipcode]
The resultant entry then just wraps around, depending on the size of the column. I am trying to use this query to create labels in a Report. Any idea why the line break disappears? Any suggestion on how to better build the expression to maintain the proper line up? Thanks
I have text in a number of fields that I want to insert into a text box on a report. The size of the text box is large enough to accommodate, but I want each line to have a linefeed (or carriage return) before it.
The report is based on a query. I created a field in the query that consists of something like:...txtText1 & CHR (10) & txtText2 & CHR (10) txtText3 AS MYTEXT.
What I did was to set the control source on the text box to MYTEXT, hoping that there would be nice linefeeds in between the fields. Unfortunately, all I got were some funny-looking boxes.
What's interesting is that you CAN insert a linefeed into a memo field and that linefeed will display properly. I just don't know how to force one in there to separate lines of text.
how to make a line break in a rich textbox in access 2007? Chr(13) & Chr(10) worked until I changed the textbox to rich, which is necessary because certain words in the textbox need to be bold.
I have several boxes instead of line breaks throughout my table. I would like to do a find and replace. Is this possible???
I can't seem to select the box to cut and paste it into the "find" line, which is too bad, because I might be able to get by with just replacing it with a semi-colon or something.
But, since I'm asking, I might as well go for the gold and ask how to make it show as a new line too, right??
I found in other threads how to use chr(10) and chr(13)... which I did, which created the boxes in some of the fields. (Some of the fields already had boxes). I also read where I should use vbcrlf, but I can't get that to work. In THIS thread: http://forums.aspfree.com/t38413/s.html&highlight=chr%2810%29 someone had the same problem as me, and was told to do an OnFormat Event.. and well, I'm just not advanced enough yet to figure that out. I've done modules, and sql view queries... and a lot of tweaking with the help I've already gotten here.. so I AM learning...
So... is there a way to do this? Preferably cheap and easy.
I have been working on this for over a week in Access 2010 and I know that I am almost there, but need getting over this last hurdle as I have a severe case of tunnel vision on this while I am trying to get it to work.
I have a Main Report based on my Element table and a subreport based on my OTC table. There is a one-to-many relationship between the Element and the OTC table. My Master / Child Fields between the two reports are as follows: ElementID;GroupNum
My SQL for the Main report is:
Code: SELECT Val(DCount("*","Element","ElementID=" & [ElementID] & " AND Step <" & [Step]))2 AS GroupNum, Element.ElementID, Element.ProcessID, Element.ModelID, Element.Step, Element.ElementDescription, Element.RevDate, Element.GPCFS, Element.TrainingGate FROM Element
[code]...
As an example in testing this report, I am looking at a specific Element with 33 records and a total of 72 OTC records. Each of the 33 records can have 1 or 2 or 3 or up to 4 OTC records but the report is only 17 pages which tells me that the page break is occuring based on the ElementID and not on the OTC records....
There is an issue that I cannot resolve in MS Access:
I have a large files with multiple columns that has 2 columns that randomly contain duplicated data.
I would like to filter out the duplicated entries in these 2 columns without spoiling the data integrity - and so the duplicates appear on the same row.
I think what I want it pretty much like conditional formatting in excel, but unfortunately the file size is really large to be filtered in excel.
I have a table 45 fields. There is a field ID. I would like to get the records where fields contains "No". I would not like to create 45 queries for each field check. how can i generate a table which shows ID, Field Name that contains value "No".
I'm having a very strange problem with access. In vba I have an sql statement "select StudentID, CourseID from tblAttendance where AttendanceDate = #Whatever Date#".
Now this works for all dates (as far as I can see) before 01/07/2013 but after that it just doesn't find any records. I have manually added dates and checked and it didn't work.
How this could be possible? The date field is not in any relationship and it is Date/Time format. I don't even know how to go about troubleshooting this as it makes no sense to me.
It thinks these records have a date below 1/7/2013 and it can find dates after 1/12/2013.
Well, I'm trying to enforce referential integrity on one of my relationships. But it seems that there are 5 records in the Subtable that don't have a corresponding record in Table, so it won't work. I tried copy/pasting from Subtable to Table, and it says 'unable to make changes because this would make duplicates in the primary key' to all values except 5. Which it asks me if I want them pasted. If I click 'yes' or 'no' nothing happens either way.
Well, anyway, I need code for a query that selects all records from Subtable.Field1 that don't exist in Table.Field1.
I am trying to run a query to print invoices that are 30, 60, and 90 days past due. What expression do I use to search for records that were purchased 30, 60, 90 days prior? I was able to find the expression to add time for the due date but was unable to find the expression to subtract time for my search. Thanks for any help!! Beck
I have an table that contains StudentID, Name and Age. I have imported the data from Excel sheet and there are some records which contains Null Value and some "h", "n/a" etc. I would like to design query which finds the records that are non numeric.
I have a table listing xxx reasons for dispute - Users will check boxes. How do I build my query that would list all the entry numbers which have a text box?
Might sound stupid but what would be the criteria? Think it would be easier to get these results into a report and sum.
This may not even be possible, but I am looking to create a Query that can locate records in an Access Table based on 2 columns of data that I have stored in a CSV file.
My table contains several fields, 2 of which are "Dept" and "SKU" and has over a million records.
My CSV file contains 3 fields: "Dept", "SKU" and "Total" - total being the number of times that particular Dept/SKU combination is used.
I need to be able to parse the dept/sku values from each row in the CSV to the query and locate only the records that contain the same values in the Access table.
The plan being to delete out those that are identified by the query.
how to read a specific line in a CSV file (using VBA), to see if the phrase "There are no records available." is present.
If it is present, then I'm going to do a debug.print stating that there are no records to load - and then the script will move on to the next file. If the phrase isn't present, then I'm going to upload the file to Access, parse the information, and then upload it to a CRM. (I already have the latter portion of the code up and running....I just need to account for the first part, where I can determine if the file has data or not).
The structure of the file never changes. The first row is composed of eight column headers (Post Date, Card Number, Card Type, Auth Date, Batch Date, Reference Number, Reason, Amount) and (if) the phrase "There are no records available." is present, it will show up on the second row, in the first column (under Post Date).
This is a toughie (i think so anyway!). I'll attempt to explain!!!
I start with a CONTINUOUS form in my DB that shows all readings for a single given customer's connections. E.g. Customer A has 5 connections and each connection has say 3 readings. Thus this query which uses joins between the Customers, Connections, and Readings tables, would return a list of all readings for each connection, so in the above example: 1*5*3 = 15 records.
Not too tricky so far, but then what I want is for each connection to have just one line showing the latest reading (easily achieved by use of SQL Aggregate Max function on the date field coming from the readings table) TOGETHER WITH the last-but-one (next most recent) reading. So back to the example taking Customer A's connection 1, the row would be as follows:
Cust Conn CurReading PrevReading A 1 750 500
Where the CurReading value (750) comes from a different record than PrevReading (500).
I've tried all sorts of ways (subqueries etc.) to achieve this without success. The main problem being that any sub query would require parameters from the current record's fields, which seems not to be possible. Can anyone help or is this simply not possible in MSAccess Forms. If it isn't possible anyone have any suggestions as to an alternative way?
If i simply remove the GROUP BY line and stick the semicolon at the end of the previous line (.EmpID; ) it works just fine. How is adding a group by line causing an error?I tried adding another parenthes at the beginning ((( and ending the joins as EmpID); and that failed with the exact same error.
I have a main form with 3 sub forms. The main form is tied to a table called QUOTES_MASTER. The first sub form is tied to a table called QUOTE_ LINE_ ITEMS_DIRTGLUE. It calculates the subtotal when selecting items. The relationship is one-to-many linked on QUOTE_ID.
The second sub form adds up total of all line items and is not tied to a table. The third sub form adds ESTIMATED FREIGHT to the PRODUCT TOTAL and is not tied to a table. how to get the values from the line items form inserted into the QUOTE_LINE_ITEMS_DIRTGLUE table as they are added.
I also want to insert the total value from ESTIMATED DELIVERED into the LINE_TOTALS field in the table QUOTES_MASTER.I tried this code on the product total sub form but it doesn't do anything and there are no errors:
Private Sub PROD_SUB_AfterUpdate() DoCmd.RunSQL "UPDATE QUOTE_LINE_ITEMS_DIRTGLUE SET QUOTE_LINE_ITEMS_DIRTGLUE.SUBTOTAL = Me.PROD_SUB WHERE QUOTES_MASTER.QUOTE_ID = " & Me.QUOTE_ID
I have a module which reads a CSV transaction file line by line and adds the correct transactions to an access table and places the wrong ones in a logfile. Now some transactions are rejected twice there is even one rejected six times. Whereas one wrong transaction is processed only once. I am certainly overlooking something obvious in the logic but what. Here is the relevant code.
Code:
Function ImportCSVForConfederation(inputCSV, ORG) Dim TNO As Integer, TACT As Integer, TABLE As String, TLINE As String, I As Integer, J As Integer, K As Integer Dim FLD1 As String, FLD2 As String, FLD3 As String, FLD4 As String, LogFile As String, LogPath As String Dim Lim As String, ITNO As Integer
