ive got a form with a number of different fields and labels and a number of boxes which help keep like fields together visually.
The problem i have is that if i click on the box when viewing it the fields dissapear behind the box despite me setting the box to the back of the form.
Anyone know what is happening? is there anyway to lock the items in place?

I have a Form which I have linked correctly to a subform. The Text boxes are showing in the Design view but are not when one switches to the Form View. Labels for Fields are visible in the Form View. Have even created a new subform and that will also not display the Text Boxes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reading many of the posts here, I decided that one of the problems with the tables in the db I was working on was in the primary keys. I had used the same field name as the primary key in all of my tables. This was RecipID, which was a user entered textbox with an example in a label beside it showing the format to use.
After reading stuff here, I decided this wasn't a good idea. So I changed RecipId to be an autonumber in the parent table (Household_Info) and a long integer foreign key in the children. Also, I added some fields to the parent table to identify the head of household (lastname, firstname)
I already had a continuous form made with a subform and a pop-up form associated with it based on my previous tables. Reran the query underlying the form, and the new fields showed up in the field list box for the form. The fields are all still present in design view, but I get a totally blank form in form view. I checked the forms recordsource and made sure that it was set to the new query.
Can anyone give me an idea about what I'm overlooking? Do I have to recreate the form?
(Sorry if this is a repeat of a question someone has already addressed, but I couldn't turn up any relevant threads after several hours of searching.)

I'm working on someone elses database, and I'm not too familiar with access.
He's got this form called Customer_Select, and when you click on a check box for a customer, it's option value is recorded in a field called Product, which then corresponds to the product/customer id located in a table called CustomerCharacteristics.
The problem is that I just realized that this Product field existed. When I view the form as a datasheet, I see the fields: Product, Lot_Nr, Version:, and Last Update:
However, when i look at the field list for the same form in Design view, I get: DateTime, VersionDisplay, and Description.
Does anyone know what's going on here? I need to reference the Product field in a query I'm modifying, but the expression builder can only 'see' the fields that are visible in design view.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have created a database to track our contacts for the office. I spent some time working on the relationships and making sure everything was normalized, as I've only just recently understood that concept. However, I'm afraid something got messed up in the process and I may have missed a step or done something wrong when creating the relationships.
Basically, I just created the form with all of my fields in it and when I try to view the form I see that no fields display (it's just a blank white screen). I wondered if I should actually be creating the form based off tblcontact, and then add subforms for each of the other tables.

I got a form called "Make quote". In this form a user can select a product from a line of fields. This "line" contains: article code, product, price and quantity the customer requests.
Each single quote can contain a very different amount of products. Some quotes just have 1 product, other quotes have 25 products.
I'm looking for a way to let the user add as many "lines" as necessary for the quote. BUT I don't want him to need to go into design view.
I'm thinking of maybe adding a button to the form which does this, but I'm not sure how.

In the Lesson tutorial shown above I am clicking on tools and adding existing fields. I get a lot of output label and text box pairs for each field that I add.
However, they are all on right below the other. That is no problem just move them. No way.
Whenever, I move it a label and test box for say Order Status, I get ... nothing. It stays where it is.
They (label and text box) do not move together. So how do I get them to move together.
I prepared students details in access, but when i look the form view students particulars looks automatically (like name, age, weight and address). But what i need is students details has to come after I enter the name.

Anyway...Figured out how to design a table then extract the info I wanted via a query. Last thing I simply cannot figure out is how to get the query exported onto mailing labels.

I have a multilingual database. currently I set a public code when a user logs on setting the language to be used on form Labels and report Labels.
I use the on load event in forms and on Current event for reports to set the labels caption eg
if gbllanguage = "English" them me.label1.caption = "English language"
if gbllanguage = "Deutsch" them me.label1.caption = "Deutsche Sprache"
etc
Now the database is rather big and more and more languages are to be added. It is quiete cumbersombe to update the VBA modules.
Does anyone have an idea how to set the label values in a table and when a form is opened the relevant labels will appear in the corresponding language/value.
Obviously I don't want it to slow down opening the forms etc as the program is rather big
Due to limited space in my Report Heading, I am trying to vertically label columns. I figured out in the Properties section of the label that I can turn on Vertical Label. However, when I view it on the report, the label, which is now vertical is turned to the left vs the right. How do I flip it? In addition, is there a way to rotate the text to a 45% angle.

I have a subfom that displays perfectly in datsheet view.
One of the columns changes its contents depending on a value. i.e. a list of units or a list of costs. I change the data using a Recordset update.
When in the Main Form I am trying to change the column label that appears in the SubForm header above the column, to either 'Units' or 'Cost, to match the data.
I am strugging to find the correct syntax, can anyone help?
Also, can I change this via the Recordset update?

Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?

I have seen that in some sample db's rightclicking the mouse showed the menu with an option to check or uncheck the dataview option, unchecked the formview was applied, but when i 'just' import the subform, i cannot find somewhere the possibility to change from dataview to formview.
Maybe someone can help me with this, probably very simple(?), question?
Anybody ever heard of this before? I open a form, and it is empty, just a blank window. I open the same form in Design View, all appears well. :mad:
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 4 tables and around 440 records but can only view up to 417 in the form I have designed. I have been adding new records via form and it has been added to my main table, but when i try to view it in form view - the record is not available to view. What do I need to do to correct this problem?
I have checked that there are no filters, data entry is set to No, Auto deletions, additions and edits are set to yes.
Also to mention it seems that the problem has arisen since I set up some new queries, there is a one to one relationship between the tables!
I have a form which is opened with a filter from another form. For some reason it views the form in form view, although it was set up as datasheet view. I even went to the form properties and the default was datasheet and i made it not to allow other views. This still didnt solve it. I want it to be in datasheet view because i want to show multiple records at the same time.
If u kno how i could resolve this please offer ur help

I'm trying to build an database for aircraft operators. I've got the basic tables structure and relationships but I'm stuck on building an search form to filter records by user input.I've got following controls on my form (unbound):
1. AircraftType (combo box) from tblAircrafts
2. CompanyName (combo box) from tblListOfAircraftsOperators
3. TeailNumber (text box) from tblAircraftOperators
4. AirportNameSearch (combo box) from tblAirports
5. PassengersNumber (text box) from tblAircraftOperators

Attached I have a database that I've been working on which has a form called "frmCriteriaSearch". It is based off of the qryCriteriaListBoxUpdate query. I am trying to get the listbox in the second tab of the results section to work. It queries fine for the checkboxes, but I cannot get the comboboxes to affect the query (unless a checkbox has already been selected)
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make a search option in my form header. Right now I have two unbound combo boxes (CboAccountsfilter and cboCourseName) that I can use to filter my records. Currently, I can use the drop down for CboAccountsfilter and a list of accounts will appear. When I select one, the corresponding Course Names will appear in cboCourseName. This works fine...Code below. I would like to take the filtering a step farther and add checkboxes to filter the data. I my form, there currently exist several check boxes (yes/no)...(Priority, Rep Top Target, Manager Top Target, ect). I would like to have the option to use a check box to filter. I.E if I had a checkbox in my header called PriorityFilter, if checked it would only bring up those records that met the two combo boxes criteria and was a priority.
Below is the code I have so far...it doesnt have anything for the checkbox because I am at a lost of how to get started.

Hi, I am in the process of creating a new database - I am a bit new to this. I have a main form, which also contains two subforms. The record source of the main part of the form is 11 tables, and then each of the subforms is based on one table each (so there are 13 tables altogether).
Everything seems to be linked up ok, and when I add new information to the form (and the subforms), the information gets saved to the tables as it should be. However, I want to be able to view past records in the form view, so that users can regularly update past records using form view. I can't do this. Each time I open the form view, the thing at the botton left says 'record one of one.' THen if I put the curser in (for eg) the box called 'client name' and click on the search button, I get a message saying:
"you can't find or replace now, the fields are not searchable due to:
- the fields are controls;
- the fields have no data;
- there are no fields to search."
well I don't really know what that means. There is definately data in there somewhere, because I can view it in the table view, but I'd like to be able to view and update old records, and search, in the form view.
any tips?

When I set the background color of a "rectangular box" to Normal (not transparaent), there are some fields that do not display - they are hidden behind the box. If I move the box, delete the hidden fields and add them back in, they appear fine. Is there a way to set the box color to allow all fields appear in front without having to delete and re-add all fields?

Hello, I'm having a spot of bother ....
I have a form that populates, in a list box, the tables within my Access database when it opens. I need to be able to do the following;
1 - Populate another list box on the form with the field names of the table I've selected
2 - Check to see if the table has a specific field, and if not, add that field to the table
Is there anybody out there that has done something similar or knows how to do this?
My programming skills are fairly basic, so I would appreciate an example of the code.

I have two linked tables (uneditable). They are linked by PersonID and they also have email address in common. For sake of example let's say one table has names of people, and the other table has the address they live at.
I have a user who requires a "datasheet" view of certain columns from each table. No problem, can do that easily in a query.
The issue is that he also wants to have an editable column that would have say "Address Confirmed". Clearly I need another table. If I make a three table query I find no way to edit that new column.
I have a database with a large number of records: ~2000, so I use a form in datasheet view to filter and sort the records to find a particular one.
This works fine for locating a certain record.
Sometimes I then need to make a new record but I will be duplicating a few fields from the one I just found.
At the moment I manually do this by copying each field I want into word and then pasting as appropriate into fields in the new record.
Is there anyway I can still use datasheet view to search for a record, then select certain fields and have them duplicated into a new record?
I should add that the datasheet view is locked for editing, I have a separate form in single form view for entering a new record. Sort of vital information i missed out there.
I have a memo field on a form that I only want 800 characters. (text fields don't seen to work). I'm looking for a piece of code that monitors the typing into a memo field and alerts the user that they are overe quota for that field when 800 characters are passed.
Any ideas are appreciated.
