I have a bound form which opens as a new record. If I accidently press carriage return by mistake whilst entering it goes to another new record, how do I stop this behaviour?
I only want the record to save with the click of a button.
e.g: InputText is 123, InputText2 is abc I wanted to display the text inside textbox of frmCalendar as: 123 abc instead of 123abc. how shall i use the vbCrLf?
I am trying to reformat a string of text so that it is easier to read on a report.Based on the text, it seems like the best thing to do is to insert a carriage return before a date/time stamp. Here is the data (it's a conversation log)...it is three unique conversation log entries:
04/13/2014 8:21PM - all work and no play is no fun - Bob Smith04/13/2014 8:21PM - this is a test of the emergency broadcast system - Bob Smith04/13/2014 8:20PM - log testing - Bob Smith
If the carriage return is before the date/time string, then all entries would look the same. If the carriage return is after the date/time string.A user had suggested a child table to break out the data into separate records, but I'm sad to say that I never worked with child tables. Any way for replacing 'Date/time stamp' with 'carriage return' & 'Date/time stamp"
How i can cancel the a carriage return and replace with a tab or stop it moving down my subform and make it move the the next field instead of going to a new line.
I am using the Keydown but don't know how to cancel it, it just bring an message but it stops it moving to a new record,
Code:
Private Sub Barcode_KeyDown(KeyCode As Integer, Shift As Integer) If KeyCode = vbKeyReturn Then MsgBox "rtn pressed" End If End Sub End If
I am sending an email from a button, and it runs a word merge and then attaches that word document and two others two an email. All that works fine, but in the body of the email the carriage return is not working.
I've tried "vbCrLf", "Chr(13)" and "Chr(10)". but none of them are working in this email. I use vbCrLf all of the time in many other emails and it works fine.
Code:
Public Function SendEmailFinancial() Dim MessageBody, vAttach1, vAttach2, vAttach3, vTo Dim appOutLook As Outlook.Application Dim MailOutLook As Outlook.MailItem
[Code] ...
This is what the email is looking like when it comes out:
Project ID: 2013YG00229 Project Title: Toolbox Talks Construction Safety Guides and Mobile App Program Manager: Shana Peschek I am attaching three (3) forms that are needed in order for the State of Washington to process grant payments for your organization for the purposes of carrying out the activities outlined in your final approved application.
In the attached DB I have a form that has a combo box which enables you to select an employee and all the employee info is then pulled based on the selection. I want to make changes to the info in the form and have the changes update the correct employee on the table. Currently the from will not let me make changes to the info and the table seems to add new lines rather than updating the corresponding line.
Is it possilbe to create a form that updates mutiple records at once with the click of a button? If each record has 4 fields and for each group I want to update at once there are 2 fields with the same value and 2 fields with different values?
is there anyway you can create one form which updates all the information in multiple tables. I need to create one of these to make the navigation of the database more easy, so if anybody could help me it would be much appreciated.
Well I know why this happens b/c the table that the information is being pulled is the subsequently being updated however when moving to a diff customer or closing the form etc.. The user is then displayed the MsgBox of Write Conflict and supplying the user with 3 options of Disregarding Changes, Saving changes to Clipboard or Save Changes.
Baisically is their a way to restrict this write conflict msgbox and have it so that it saves the users changes every time.
I have a table in my DB named TblStock and another named TblStock2..I also have a form in the DB named "frmStock" with the control source being "TblStock" . This form has a sub form "FrmStock2Subform" with control source being "tblStock2". The two forms are lined by "PurchaseID". This form is made to be used in entering products that have been bought for replenishment of stock. The problem I have is that when I enter data in the main form, by the time i click on the subform to start entering data, the table "TblStock" gets already updated.
Now lets assume somebody was about to enter data in the subform and later on changes his mind when the "TblStock" had already been updated, this will cause a waste of useful space because there is no corresponding record in the table "TblStock2". Secondly, if many users are entering data into the DB using that same form, I guest there will be some problems too. What i want is that the form should update both tables when the users validates the records.
I have a subform with a textbox in the footer to count[id]. then on my main form i have another textbox that has a control source of =[subform].[form]![subformfootercontrol].
However when the subform updates the main form text is blank. typically i see a ?#Name or#Error if the control is pointing to the wrong place, but i have never see it stay blank.
However, if I use a text box on a form, with "New Line in Field" set, and then in code use Sendkeys to post the address and the carriage returns as above, it does work.
The following code is in a text box on a report in a database that creates work contracts. The IIF statements and Dlookups pull the parts of the text together perfectly, but why the new line and carriage returns are completely ignored in the last section? Been working on this all day and we can't find a way of inserting 2 new lines!
Code:
=DLookUp("Description","QFRCL07") & (IIf(DLookUp("Description2","QFRCL07") Is Not Null,DLookUp("BasicSalary","Tmain","ContractID=ContractID") & " " & DLookUp("Description2","QFRCL07"),"")) & (IIf(DLookUp("Description3","QFRCL07") Is Not Null,DLookUp("Job","Tmain","ContractID=ContractID") & " " & DLookUp("Description3","QFRCL07"),"")) & (IIf([Forms]![FFRRCheck]![Text305] Is Not Null,(Chr(13) & Chr(10) & Chr(13) & Chr(10) & [Forms]![FFRRCheck]![Text305]),""))
I have developed a private sub which automatically creates an email when a button is pushed.
The code is working well, but I need to insert Carriage Returns in the Body Text of the email just before the word "Please" where it appears in two places. Is this possible?
I import data through different files into a table, the data comes in different formats. I have a problem sometimes some records have double quotation marks and carriage returns. I know how to replace them as
Carriage Returns
Replace([FieldName],Chr(13) & Chr(10),""
Double Quotation Marks
Replace([FieldName],Chr(34),""
But if i want to use an iif statement because in the field there could be a Double Quotation Mark or Carriage return then it does not find the record
iif([FieldName] like Chr(34),Replace([FieldName],Chr(34),"",[FieldName])
I have a simple UDF that takes a string and returns a variant, which is an array of strings Example Input "Brick Wall" Return value would be a variant array with first element "Brick" and and second element "Wall" Now I have a table with a field of strings, and I want to make a query that returns all the results from the function, one per line.
So if my input table looks like this
[strField] "kick the ball" "return the pass"
my query result should looks like this
[Orig] [new] "kick the ball" "kick" "kick the ball" "the" "kick the ball" "ball" "return the pass" "return" "return the pass" "the" "return the pass" "pass"
Last time I had to do something like this I used VBA exclusively, with ADO objects, but I thought a query based solution would be easier.
With my current data the largest return array size my function returns is 27 elements but I wouldn't want to rely on that number being fixed.
I have several forms that can be called from more than one other form, but I need to build my forms so that the user is returned to the form from which they started.
I have looked in the help files and FAQ and I can't find what I am looking for.
Please, can someone direct met to the required information or tell me how to achieve this?
The form displays various fields for the user to enter order details.
The subform is populated with all previous deals for the person whose deal is being recorded. This subform is purely for display purposes and the data shown cannot be edited.
The problems I have are:
1) When a user clicks anywhere on the subform. They can tab through the fields or scroll around the subform without any problems. However, when they try to return to the main form, all controls on it appear to be locked.
2) Clicking on the subform removes focus from the main form, so saves the record being edited on the form. This is a big problem, as the order may be in error and/or incomplete. I only want the user to be able to save or cancel the record, using specific buttons on the main form.
Is there any property for the sub form I can set to prevent the above from happening?
Hi, I am not much familiar with VB Coding. Can any body please help me with this Please:When i click on submit button,it has to show the query results on the Form. Please find the below code:
Private Sub Command_Click() Dim db As DAO.Database Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim strSql As String Set db = CurrentDb strSql = "SELECT Interface.[Interface ID], Interface.[Interface Name] from [Interface]" Set rs = db.OpenRecordset(strSql)
Do While Not rs.EOF Debug.Print ("Interface ID: " & rs![Interface ID] & "Interface Name: " & rs![Interface Name]) rs.MoveNext Loop rs.Close db.Close End Sub
####################### It is not retrieving any thing.IF my code is wrong,Please advice me with the necessary steps to view the results on the form, when we clicl on the submit button. Thanks, Kanuri
Is there a common answer or design mistake that would cause a form to return a different (much higher) record set than that if the query is ran by itself. The query is the control source for the form.
As the title says - I am getting a Return without GoSub error for every button on a particular form. Nothing has changed (that I'm aware of anyway) and now it is happening.
The only possible thought I had is I have one user using 2003 and all others using 2000 - could that have anything to do with it?
I have a form that displays multiple records in datasheet view. I want to query off of that form and return all results for all records being displayed. However, I'm not sure how to tell Access to do this. Access instead wants to return records for only the first displayed record in the form or the record that is highlighted by the cursor.
In the attached image you can see a list of AccountingUnits (AU) going down. My query using AU from the form as criteria will only return records for AU 114510 since it is the first record, but I would like to see records for all AU's being displayed by the form. How can I do this?
