Forms :: Access 2010 - OpenForm Was Cancelled Error
Aug 5, 2013
I'm working with an old database and I am getting this error. I have have access 2010. I starting to receive this error after I unlinked one of the tables.
Private Sub Command9_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Command9_Click
Dim stDocName As String
Dim stLinkCriteria As String
I am trying to open a form with a specified record using double clicked event (list box) but access is throwin "The OpenForm action was cancelled". My code is:
Private Sub lstSchool_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) Dim test As String Dim thisForm As String
I've been using the following code successfully in Access 2003 & now I need to migrate to Access 2010. The purpose of the code is to use the items that the user selects in the list box to build the criteria of a query. Access 2010 keeps giving me a syntax error when I try to run the query & I don't know why:
My code is:
On Error GoTo Err_Command151_Click
' Declare variables Dim db As DAO.Database Dim qdf As DAO.QueryDef Dim varItem As Variant Dim strCriteria As String Dim strSQL As String
[Code] .....
The syntax error I get in Access 2010 is:
Syntax Error in query expression 'SELECT * FROM qryContractListSummarybyDateContract3TYPEBREAK WHERE qryContractListSummarybyDateContract3TYPEBREAK.Rep ortableName IN('Adbri Masonry NSW');'
I'm not usre how to handle the error when cancelling a report. so when I hit a control to bring up a report and say I cancel it before I put in any parameters for example I get the dialog box " runtime error" "OpenReport action was cancelled" etc.
Could anyone help me on how to handle this with VBA so that it's at least a more user friendly dialog box?
The code below is from a form named frmWorkorderComplete I use to append the tblWorkordersComplete table with data from the fields in the table tblWorkOrders. I'm trying to prevent duplicate entries in the tblWorkOrdersComplete table. To do this, I create a unique identifier for each record to be appended by combining the "ordered", "company", and "salescategory" into a string which is inserted into the "wonmbr" primary key field of the tblWorkorderComplete.
The following code is used in the subroutine to check if a particular wonmbr has already been appended. However, I keep receiveing the error: "Runtime Error 2001- You cancelled the previous operation" EVERYTHING else in this sub routine works fine when I remove the offending code:
If DCount("[wonmbr]", "tblWorkorderComplete", "[wonmbr] = str_wonmbr") > 0 Then MsgBox "Workorder Already Appended!" Exit Sub Else
/////////////////////////// Private Sub Archive_Click()
' declare variables Dim Variable1 As String Dim Variable2 As String Dim Variable3 As Date Dim Variable4 As Date Dim Variable5 As Date Dim Variable6 As Date Dim Variable7 As Date Dim str_wonmbr As String Dim strI As String Dim strS As String Dim strSQL As String
' HERE IS THE OFFENDING CODE If DCount("[wonmbr]", "tblWorkorderComplete", "[wonmbr] = str_wonmbr") > 0 Then MsgBox "Workorder Already Archived!" Exit Sub Else
the user searches records and they are filtered..http://www.londonheathrowcars.com/searchform.jpghttp://www.londonheathrowcars.com/searchquery.jpgand when they double click i want the record to open in this form..http://www.londonheathrowcars.com/showform.jpghttp://www.londonheathrowcars.com/showquery.jpgtrying to put this code on my listbox but gettin the openform cancelled 2501 error on the bold line.. anyone see why?Private Sub QuickSearch_DblClick(Cancel As Integer)Forms("searchform").SetFocusForms("searchform").RecordSource = vbNullStringDoCmd.OpenForm "showform", , , "[jobref] = " & Me![QuickSearch].Column(0)End Subnote:on the search form.. the form has no record source.. the listbox has the record source of the searchquery..also on the show form.. the form has the record source of the showquery.
We are currently using Access 2007 and I've got a database that sends emails out to multiple users depending on the data that was entered. We are about to upgrade to Access 2010 and I am testing it now. I was originally getting runtime error '287' when I was adding addresses to a Recipient object. I got past that by adding the addresses in a string and concatenating. Now I'm getting the error with .Send.
When I am working in the tutorial which is shown in the below link:

when I copy from Clarksville.xlsx the employees names and try to paste into a new Access database*. It says:
Text is Too Long to be Edited
I am unsure what to do next to deal with this error. The internet says to increase the size of the cell where the text is being pasted. I am not sure how to do that.
I used the Contacts Database Template to import a comma delimited txt file of contacts data. The template included a number of tables, queries, forms & reports which I did not require. I deleted them leaving only a Table entitled 'Addressbk'. I added an Entry Form using the standard access tools and this works fine with the table. However, on running the access database I get the following error message; 'The form named "Main" is mis-spelled or refers to a form that doesn't exist. My only form is labelled 'Entry Form', so it would appear that one of the forms I deleted must have been named 'Main'. If one ignores the error message the database & entry form function perfectly.
I'm using Access 2010 and I want to export a query to Excel by clicking a button. Every time I click on it Excel opens but doesn't open my worksheet, it's just gray like you just open the program without a table. After exiting it Access tells me I got a run time error 1004: the open-method of the workbook object couldn't be executed. After opening my Excel file it says that Excel found unreadable content and asks if I want to restore the content of the workbook.
Here is my code:
Code: Private Sub Befehl62_Click() Dim cdb As DAO.Database, qdf As DAO.QueryDef, SheetName As String, xlApp As Object Set cdb = CurrentDb Forms!Export_to_Excel!txtSheetName.SetFocus SheetName = Me!txtSheetName.Text
Where can I find the Hex or RGB value for the blue colour that Access 2010 uses by default for buttons on forms? I need to change some buttons to yellow (I know the code for that) but later change them back to the previous shade of blue, which is shown in the Properties pane "Accent 1, Lighter 40%".
By clicking in the standard colors area at the bottom of the colour chooser I can find a very similar blue #D6DFEC but it doesn't look quite right. And the "accent" colour does not give me a Hex value. Is that "usual" blue even one colour? How can I reset a button to that style having changed it?
I am not a specialist, but am trying to create an application with Access 2000to manage our company’s orders. I have a table called ‘Service’ containing descriptive data on the type of service requested. This table is linked to several other tables, with ‘ServiceNo’ as the primary key linking most of them. The service number is not an autonumber, but a counter incremented through code, for specific reasons that I won’t develop here.
I have created two forms: one to consult all the service records (F_Service_Consult), with a button to open another form that allows the user to add a new service record (F_Service_Add).
When the new service form opens, the service number counter is incremented and this number is assigned as the new 'ServiceNo' in a new record added to the ‘Service’ table (using the SQL ‘Insert’ command). I would like this form (F_Service_Add) to open on this record only. In the code that creates ‘ServiceNo’, the correct value is contained in a variable called ‘lngServiceCount’. I have tried using this code to open my form:
Dim stDocName As String Dim stLinkCriteria As String stDocName = "F_Service_Add" stLinkCriteria = "Forms![F_Service_Add]![ServiceNo]='" & lngServiceCount & "'" DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, , , stLinkCriteria
When I run the code step-by-step, the correct value is shown for ‘lngServiceCount’ when the mouse hovers over the variable (for ex. ‘155’). When the form opens, I have 1 record (Filtered), but nothing shows in the ‘ServiceNo’ text box.
I have deactivated the code that is in the ‘OnCurrent’ event procedure of this form to avoid any interference.
There are many sub-forms on the main form, which also contain the ‘ServiceNo’ in text boxes.
When I use this command to open the form:
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acLast
the form opens correctly, with the correct ‘ServiceNo’, but ALL the records are opened.
The variable type for ‘lngServiceCount’ is a long integer. (I hope that is the correct term in English, because I am using a French version of Access).
I would be very grateful if anyone could tell me what I’m doing wrong. I’ve tried to be clear, but if more information is required, I would of course provide what’s missing. Thanks in advance.
I have validation on a checkbox on a sub form and after the validation fails and the cancel = true is executed in the before update event, I am unable to select the checkbox on the form. Access will not allow the selection. my subform is called frmContactType so hopefully I am referencing it correctly:
I have a MS Access 2010 application when the User opens form CONTACTS Form
â—¦User finds single record to be used CONTACTID is identifier to be used for selection â—¦User clicks button to open form frm_MAIL_MERGE â—¦Frm_MAIL_MERGE has a drop down combo box that reads the folder location where the application resides and displays all .DOTM files (that is all template files) and one more combo box which contains the CONTACTID. â—¦User selects single .dotm file for merge â—¦Frm_MAIL_MERGE has either drop down to select CONTACTID or UNBOUND data field for user to type in CONTACTID number â—¦User enters CONTACTID to be used for the mail merge â—¦User selects SUBMIT â—¦Application merges selected .dotm file with the information in table CONTACTS for the selected CONTACTID â—¦Merged document is saved on the user Desktop as xxx.docx
Is it possible to have a value in an excel 2010 cell be used to update an access 2010 db?
For example, if in a spreadsheet "test" cell A2=3 then in a db "test" a column "value" is 3. However, if the value in the spreadsheet changes so does the db.
I wish to work in Access 2010 with a subset of my Outlook 2010 contacts (all desktop- no network barriers), so I am exploring the Desktop Contacts DB found in Microsoft's templates. It passes contact data back and forth using the standard macros, but I wish to add more fields from Outlook. It seems I need to find the code associated with the macro. I believe I can solve the problem using a Linked table, but am wondering if there is another solution?
Calendar synchronization is another issue. Linking gets me to the Archive Calendars, but not the Current one in Outlook which is what I want.
This error occurs at the OutputTo line. This code is part of an user form with a button “save as PDF”. When this code is run, the report is visible as an example (as meant to be) on the screen. The code stops at the OutputTo line.
When I use DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, StrReport, acFormatPDF, StrDocumentName,, False the problem still exists.
I tried to save the report manually by Preview > Export > PDF. The preview is OK, saving as PDF results in the same error 2501. This may lead to the conclusion that this problem is not caused by the VBA code.
I verified whether user write rights are OK, and whether a default printer is available. Both are OK. The report consists of 1 page. When this very same application is used with Access 2010, everything functions as expected.
I am using Access 2010 and have a form based upon a query (qry_student). In tihs query I have a field called Details that contains the student's address; a composite of the relevant fields from the table tbl_student. I have used chr(13) & chr(10) to create linebreaks wihtin the query field.
I have a textbox where the Control Source is set to this field of the query.
The textbox does not display the data correct and I believe this is because it is in Plain Text mode.
When I try to change it to Rich Text I get an error message.
If I remove the control source then I can change it to Rich Text but then this negates the very purpose of the textbox.
I have an Access 2000 application which, on startup, always launches a 'switchboard' form and sometimes gets information from the user during the startup. Both forms are opened with VBA using DoCmd.OpenForm; the switchboard opens as acNormal and the input form (when used) as acDialog.
Under normal circumstances this works fine.
If, however, the Access window ceases to be the active window in Windows (e.g. the user selects another application's window in the taskbar) the forms do not open (all other VBA code runs correctly).
We recently updated to 64 bit Office 2010, however there is a form created by an intern who has since moved on, anyways the form was created in 32 bit. SO hence we cannot open it. We get any error message that it was created in 32 bit and cannot be open in 64 bit Office. I have tried to resaved the form on a different pc with 64 bit office. But it will not allow me to save, possibly because the form is locked down from changes. The file extension is .accde.
I have not used access since Office 97 so, I see many changes. A while back I used Access to create some minor tracking databases. Now, with 2010 I'd like to modify the database that I am currently using. I have a main form that tracks daily trips or tasking(s). Within the form are two sub forms that track:
1. People assigned to the trip through a combo box; and 2. Itinerary for this trip.
I have been asked to add a Trip justification(s) through a combo box which will have several selections avail that can be chosen and would apply to each trip. These can be added to by double clicking the justification (figured that one out). What I would like the sub form to do for each new trip that is entered is to display only these values as a single selection rather than 12 times (example) if there are 12 trips that have the reason justification as part of the trip/tasking.
I just can't seem to make this work. The personnel one and itinerary one work just fine (previously existing). I just can't seem to get the new one to work. I have checked that the new table is connected through the relationships. In the exact same manner. The new form has the ID (Key) OPID (to link each trip separately) and justification text field.
I have a Main (Home) form that has a sub navigation form (frmNavigationSubform).Need to access 3 forms. Forms 1,2 and 3. Also, have 1 options form.
Subform has 2 Navigation buttons. NavigationButton2 and NavigationButton3.
NavigationButton 2 Navigation Target Name = 1 (frm #1).
NavigationButton 3 has no Navigation Target Name. This is passed on when user picks Option1 or Option2 form options pop screen.
Now I can pass the name to the Navigation Buttons2 but the subform does not show it. I have to click on the Navigation Buttons2 again for it to show. What I want is when the user makes the choice in the options screen the name is passed and form 2 or 3 should load/show.
