Forms :: Action Buttons Increase In Size 50% To Right And Down
Jul 7, 2013
It has been a month and I'm still 'stuck' on my Microsoft Access lessons due to a peculiar error. I have a video of the error, but it won't let me post a link until I have 10 posts. When I create an action button and then scroll at all, the button jumps in size 50% to the right and down, but this extra space can't be edited. Clicking on the 'extra space' is like clicking the background.
I have tried
1. Reinstalling Office 365
2. Reinstalling my graphics card drivers (Using a GTX 560ti SLIx2)
3. Manually entering the size for the buttons in the button properties (still increases in size)
I have a project where the schedule calls for a web-enabled database for 100+ users to merge five separate systems into one. If I can't get past this problem, I can't continue my lessons.
When I draw an action button, it resizes to just the size of the text, and gains 50% in size below and to the right of the resized button. I can not edit this extra space, but it appears in form view. If I resize the button, the extra space appears again the moment I scroll.
System specs
Software: Windows 7, Office 365. All updated. Hardware: 16 GB RAM, 2x Nvidia GTX 560ti graphics cards
Is there a way to increase the maximum characters allowed in an expression of a macro setvalue action ?
I have an expression in a macro setvalue action that adds multiple form textbox values. I need to change the form name from "RATING ENGINE 2" to "E RATING ENGINE 2". When I do this, I exceed the maximum characters allowed in the expression. Is there a way I can rename "RATING ENGINE 2" without this problem. The expression is as follows:
Do you guys think the database will get small in size if i have like 200 records and each one of them have a 4 kb thumbnail as OLE object?
I know that putting big images in OLE objects gets very big but a small thumbnail is ok and doesn't increase the size of the .mdb so much? (130x98 pixels)
Can someone tell me that more remark / comment lines in VBA might be one of the reason of increasing the db size?
Because now a days I am removing the queries from my db and started to use VBA code lines behind each forms and keeping some remark / comment lines to know what a particular set of code line means and what they are doing. So I put everywhere some remarks / comments line. Now my forms are faster than before but the over all size of db become heavy.
Are comment lines one of the reason in increasing db size?
I have a main form with a few imbedded sub forms. Sometimes these is a great deal of data in one of the sub forms & non in the others. Is there a way that the sub forms can grow depending on the amount of data there is in each particular sub form. (The sub form grows for a lot of data & shrinks for little data) The way I have it now is that each sub form is always the same size and a scroll bar appears when these is extra data. This is OK but I need to see all data in sub forms at once if possible. Can anyone help with ideas please?
Good afternoon. I am brand new to posting on this forum but I have been using this forum for help since I started my new job and I would like to start off with thanking you all for that. :)
Now onto my problem: I am currently trying to create a form in Access 2003 that can be easily read and seen because it will eventually be used as a touch screen interface. I have several text boxes on this form that simply display a counter's value that is updated by a neighboring updown control. The text displayed within the textbox is just the value of the updown control. This updown control is more specifically a Microsoft UpDown Control ver. 6.0 (SP4). Due to this interface ultimately being used as a touch screen, each and every button needs to be large enough so fingers can easily touch only one button at a time.
My problem is that I do not know how to change the size of the actual Up/Down buttons on this updown control. I can alter the height, yet I can not alter the width of these vertically oriented buttons. If anyone knows how to correct this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. The sites I looked through that deal with Visual Basic reference do not deal with resizing the updown buttons, but with other properties of the updown controls. Thank you for your time and assistance.
I have created a list that has 5 column. Data is filled in list using a query. I know how to remove 2 columns, but I do not know how to increase the width of columns.
I have a form for users to be able to delete or edit records. I have 2 command buttons (Delete and Save), when I click on them I get this error "the command or action is not available now"... It was working fine before but for some reasons it stopped. Even two other buttons actioned by vba codes do not work (No message popping up for these 2)
I think it has to do with the query my form is based on, as I tried a dummy form based on a table and the button worked fine...? I tried re-creating query+form and no luck. I did remove a field from my query at some point this morning, not sure if this might be the cause of issue, as this field was not connected to anything in my form.
I want to run a macro which is having three action queries from the another database when i click the button from my current database. I am using Access2010.
On Error GoTo Err_Command124_Click Dim stDocName As String Dim stLinkCriteria As String stDocName = "PRINTSQUARE 1" DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, 3, , , , 4
An command button would open a form to display some query result, and how could I do something after user exit that form!! I have tried to put some action afater the Docmd and EXIT_COMMAND124_CLICK:, both didn't work!!
I've rebooted my copy record button and just used the macro wizard for now, it seems to work as far as I can tell but there is something strange about it.
I've added in some text boxes so I've got some confirmation, but when I click this copy button I get the following error;
"The command or action 'RecordsGoToNew' isn't available now."
I'd like a confirm dialog to appear on button click, so when the user clicks 'yes', the on click event should continue and when the user click 'no', the event should stop.
Will keeping your field size shorter result in a smaller MDB file?
Or does Access only use as much space as there is real data in its fields.
Way back in the dBASE III days, dBASE would pad all your "real" information with as many spaces as necessary to fill up your field. I suspect that the MDB structure is probably smarter than that.
Another question on the same topic - I believe there is a maximum number of characters in a record (4000?). Can your field sizes add up to more than 4000, as long as the actual data, all combined, never totals 4000...? Thanks............ ..dc
Where can I find the Hex or RGB value for the blue colour that Access 2010 uses by default for buttons on forms? I need to change some buttons to yellow (I know the code for that) but later change them back to the previous shade of blue, which is shown in the Properties pane "Accent 1, Lighter 40%".
By clicking in the standard colors area at the bottom of the colour chooser I can find a very similar blue #D6DFEC but it doesn't look quite right. And the "accent" colour does not give me a Hex value. Is that "usual" blue even one colour? How can I reset a button to that style having changed it?
I have a bit of a problem with a database in Access 2013. On 1 of the forms, I have a number of buttons which open other forms and filter the results using an embedded macro. All has been well until a few days ago when error 2950 pop up box started appearing. After fiddling around for a while it all works OK (without actually changing anything) until next time the database is opened. I checked to make sure the location is "trusted" and all seems OK.
I have a button on Form1 that when clicked opens Form2. I want Form2 to be a certain size everytime it opens. I can't seem to get this to happen, it always resizes depending on Form1 being maximised or not.
I need to make the text size smaller to fit everything on the screen (users use 17" monitors..). I have gone into each form and subform and changed the text size for each text box to 9, but when I view them in form view the size has not changed ?
Also .. is there any way to make the autocentre option actually work as it's name suggests !! ? it does in most cases centre horizontally, but never vertically, quite often putting the top of the pop up form over the ribbon bar.
I would actually like to be able to totally remove the ribbon bar so that only the database forms are the only thing the user sees.
I vaguely remember being able to do this in Access 97 (Which was the last version I used - a long time ago !) but this seems to be more difficult in 2010 version.
Is there any way i can increase the amount of columns in a table before importing data? I am importing data from a notepad doc that needs abt 300 columns but i can only get abt 100 columns.
I have created a table in which there is one column of type memo. When I copy the content in this column it is allowing me to enter only 255 characters. How to increase the length of this column type memo?
I have a query with GroupBy. Is it causing me the damage? How to overcome this situation.
I have a table, tblEvents, which I use to store information about a meeting, training session or field trip, including the [StartDate]. I also have a table, tblEventDays, which I use to store the [DayNumber] 1, 2, 3... At the moment I have to enter the day numbers in the subform frmEventDays manually, but I would like to add button controls to increase/decrease the number of days for each event (i.e. add a new record where [DayNumber] is incremented by 1, and delete the last record if I have added too many day records).
I have added button controls to my EventDays subform and managed to use the macro builder to select and duplicate the last [DayNumber] record, but cannot figure out how to increase each successive [DayNumber] by 1.
1. Add a day...
Option Compare Database Private Sub AddDay_Click() ? End Sub
2. Remove a day...
Option Compare Database Private Sub RemoveLastDay_Click() ? End Sub
