Forms :: Adding Delete Button To Every Row In Detail View
Oct 7, 2013
I have taken over an Access database and I need to be able to add a delete button to every row in a detail view.
The rows contain a filename and a hyperlink which are pulled from an MS Sql server table.
I need to be able to put a small delete button at the end of each row which, when clicked will delete the relevant entry. How can I achieve this.

I haven't used Access in a couple of years. I created a DB some years ago where I did not want the users to be able to view/change the forms, queries, etc.
I only wanted them to be able to view the "finished" product and do the data input.
I remember there was an "alt+key" combination I hit when I opened the db file in order to view/change queries, forms, etc.
Now, I've forgotten the key combination at open which allows me to see the details of the db.
I have some formulaes in that old db that I now need.
Could someone please advise on the key combination at open which will allow me to view/modify the details of the db?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Joel

Hi,
I created a form based on head/detail/foot kind of setup.
Now in the detail I have a combo box and a textbox. Is it possible for me to set focus to the next line textbox after the combo box fires onExit trigger?
so for instance:
form is empty. Fill in textbox, choose from dropdown, and then on Exit the focus is set to the next line textbox.
Thanks,

The purpose of this database is to have a simple form that inputs data into a table. There is a subform view on the form so they are able to see their data that was submitted into the table.
Problem:I have made an attempt at making a Delete Row button. The idea behind this is to allow them to select a row on the subform view and then delete it from the table.
Form = frmEvaluationForm
Subform = frmReviewSubForm
Table = tblEvaluationDatabase
figuring out what is causing this error 3075 (syntax error in query expre. Is there a more specific way to delete a row that has been selected?
Access 2007
Code:
Private Sub cmdDelete_Click()
'check existing selected record
If Not (Me.frmReviewSubForm.Form.Recordset.EOF And Me.frmReviewSubForm.Form.Recordset.BOF) Then
'confirm delete
If MsgBox("Delete this record?", vbQuestion + vbYesNo, "Delete") = vbYes Then
'delete now
CurrentDb.Execute "DELETE * FROM tblEvaluationDatabase WHERE CAccount = " & Me.txtCAccount
'refresh data in list
Me.frmReviewSubForm.Form.Requery
End If
End If
End Sub

I have a form, with tab control which includes fields from two tables. When I delete a record on a form it deletes fine.When I go into the tables the record is still there in the one side of the relationship but has been deleted in the table of the many side.
I've read that a simple delete button on a form will only delete records in the many side of a relationship from a table.How do I get a delete button that deletes the record from both the one and many tables.

I have a columnar form with a sub-form based on an updatable query. I've created a delete button on the master form with the intention that if the user hits the delete button, it will delete the current record (like its supposed to, right?).
But what is happening is when the delete button is hit, it is asking twice for deletion confirmation and deleting the current record AND the next record. Even if I hit "Cancel" to stop the deletion, it still deletes the current and next records.
Each record has a primary unique ID that is included on the form (but not tab stopped - if that makes any difference), but it doesn't seem to be using that as the basis for deleting.
I've tried two different codes for this:
Private Sub Command110_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Command110_Click
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdDeleteRecord
Exit_Command110_Click:
[Code] .....

I have a form with three text boxes and one command button
I want to hide the command button from view until at least one of the boxes has data in it. I also want the command button to return to hidden if the data is removed
So far I have tried this on the after update event on one zof the text boxeswith absolutely no success.
Code:
If Me.txtFirstName = "" And Me.txtLastName = "" And Me.txtSocialInsuranceNumber = "" Then
Me.cmdAddNewClient.Visible = False
Else
Me.cmdAddNewClient.Visible = True
End If

How to keep Access from including the detail line items in my report total?
Below is a quick image of part of the report.
The report is compiled from two tables. The first table has detail information on each line, in four columns:
State Name Amount Quantity (Not used)
AL Store 1 313.94 60
AL Store 2 12.59 1
AZ Store 3 576.45 90
CO Store 4 172.22 24
CO Store 5 502.25 88
The 2nd table is a summary by state with three columns:
State Amount Quantity (Not used)
AL 326.53 61
AZ 576.45 90
CO 674.47 112
I'm trying to make the report group by state, then name, amount and a subtotal for each state. This all works fine in the report.
I want to also add the amount field from the 2nd table (State Subtotals) to the report just for reference. I've managed to make this work as well. (See State Total on image)
The problem that I'm having is that when I try to do a final total of the State Total column in the report footer, it seems to add the (State Subtotals) amount field on every detail line (See red numbers in picture. they are not actually on the report, but Access thinks they are and includes them in the final total).
So far I've tried different joins, hiding various fields, sub reports, ect. I just can't figure out how to stop Access from calculating the detail lines.

I have created a form in Access 2010 that opens in view only mode. I do this as I do not want data being changed in error. There are times when the user may need to edit some data on the form.
Any way to place an "Edit" button on the form that allows the user to edit the current record? I thought about creating two sepasrate forms, but I really don't want to maintain two of them.

I am trying to create a command button that will delete the current records in both the subform and main form.
I know how to create a command button that will delete the current record of which ever form I'm in (either the sub or main form) but I wish to do so both at the same time with one event procedure. I currently have been experimenting with a button in the subform but I don't really care if it's in the subform or main form.

I have a query with various entries, pertaining to various invoices. Each line of the query corresponds to a piece of work done, and there may be several lines in the query pertaining to one invoice. I've written the code to input data to a report.
If there are multiple lines in the query to be added to the one invoice, I don't know how to write code that will add those multiple lines in the detail section. Same type of data on each line, just basically pertains to several different lines of work.

I would like to add a button to a form that will print the form with the current record in it. Also, to add a level of difficulty, there are 8 subforms attached to the form. As I already have the form developed, I don't want to reinvent the wheel and go off and create a report with 8 subreports. Is this possible? If so, Can we force all the data on the form to one page?

I am having issues with assigning search criteria for the "Find Next Button". I used the wizard and it does not ask what criteria to use for Find Next. I am assuming there is a bit of VBA I need to add to the generic Find Next button. This is what comes up when I use the wizard to create the button:
Private Sub Command118_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Command118_Click
Screen.PreviousControl.SetFocus
DoCmd.FindNext
Exit_Command118_Click:
Exit Sub
Err_Command118_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_Command118_Click
End Sub
How do I define the criteria for the next record. I want the db to move to the next record with the same [PtMRN].

i am trying to add an import command button to a form so that personnel not familiar with Access can simply push the button and then select the file to import. I want it to import information to a specific table by replacing all records in the current table with the import. I am not the best at coding, but I can understand enough to figure out what I may need to do.
I will be exporting a table to excel from the database. Multiple people will have this database and often times will not be able to access a shared database, so I need to export the table and then set up a way for them to import the excel document into their database by deleting the information in the old one and then updating to the new one.

When I had a subform (continous form) I had a code which check, that record was used in other form, if yes, then code not allowed to delete this record, if not, record was deleted. But now I have a datasheet form, and the question is, What should I do, to have the same results what I had in continous form.
Now it doesn't matter that I past this code in "Before Del Confirm", "On delete", "After Del Confirm", this code doesn't work in this view of form. Always if I click (right button) on record, then i choose "delete record" MS Access delete my record without checking that was used in other form or not.
Code:
If Not IsNull(DLookup("Id_Gora_Zlecenia.Value", "TblDolZlecenia", "Id_Gora_Zlecenia.Value=" & ID_gora_zlecenia)) Then
MsgBox "You can't delete this record because it is used in another form"
Exit Sub
End If
DeleteRecord Me
End Sub
DeleteRecord:
Code:
Public Function DeleteRecord(ByRef f As Form) As Boolean
DeleteRecord = False
On Error Resume Next
DoCmd.SetWarnings False
If Not f.NewRecord Then
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdDeleteRecord
[Code] .....

I'm trying to create a report where I can use a section header as a hyperlink to show/hide detail, but only for that section. For example, my customer names are:
Code:
ABC Co.
ZYX Co.
123 Co.
If I click on ZYX Co., I want it to show the contracts for ONLY that customer:
Code:
ABC Co.
ZYX Co.
Contract 1
Contract 2
123 Co.
Right now, my code looks like this for On_Click:
Code:
If Me.Detail.Visible = False Then
Me.Detail.Visible = True
Else
Me.Detail.Visible = False
End If
But it shows and hides detail for ALL customers when I do this. Is there a way to only show/hide for the customer on which I click?

Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?

I'm curious if anyone know's a way to access a specific data section on a tabular form. I'm attempting to have each section update a specific data item based on its position on the form, but am having problems since I do not know how to differentiate between one details section and another on the form. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
