I am trying to link an images (.png) onto a form. I have a folder of all the images I want but I want the path to be relative. So that if I move the access file and the images folder to a new location, it will still work.
In the properties for the image, It works fine as C:UsersjohnDesktopimage1.png but what I am looking for is the ability to use "imagesimage1.png" as the file will always be in that relative folder to the db.
What is the correct syntax for this? putting image1.png in the same directory and just using image1.png works, but this won't be very tidy with 100+ images.
I have tried:
imagesimage1.png
imagesimage1.png
imagesimage1.png
With PictureType set as linked.
I know from searching it is possible through VBA by getting the root directory of the folder and appending the filename. Don't really want to go this root. I also don't particularly want to create a table to store the images or links.

I have a form that I would like to update a picture on using VBA. The source of the picture path is in part a query that is not bound to the form. So far I have the following code that is pretty much working, but with a couple flaws.
Code:
Private Sub Form_Current()
LoadDefaultPicture
End Sub
Sub LoadDefaultPicture()
Dim db As DAO.Database
[Code] ....
This is working. However, when I change the record the picture flashes the current picture once and then loads the new picture. It is like it reloads the current picture then loads the new one. I'm hoping there is a way to get rid of the flash.
Also, the code fails here:
strDefaultPictureName = rs.Fields("AttachmentName")
When the query does not return a record. I can definitely fix this by adding an if statement to check for a record, but I'm kind of perplexed at why it is failing at that line. I would expect it to assign an empty string to that variable name and then fail on the next command where I try and set the ".Picture" property of the image.

Hello. I've searched and read a few threads concerning image controls on forms and haven't been able to find a solution to my problem (yet). Anyway, I have a form with two image controls (imgOK1 & imgOK2). The previous and current setting of the "Picture" property for both images is set to "C:MOMGraphicsfilename.bmp". The location of my images has changed and will change for each user which is "C:Documents and Settingsuser.nameMOMGraphicsfilename.bmp". I'm using the following code to set the .Picture property on form load:
Dim ImgPath
ImgPath = "C:Documents and Settings" & Environ("username") & "My DocumentsMOMGraphics"
Me.imgOK1.Picture = ImgPath & "imgButton-OK1_25%.bmp"
Me.imgOK2.Picture = ImgPath & "imgButton-OK2_25%.bmp"
When the form is opened, an error stating that the image located at "C:MOMGraphicsfilename.bmp" cannot be found; once for each image control. Then the form loads and .Picture properties appear to be set correctly as they are displayed fine. I've tried to clear the .Picture properties for both image controls using the properties editor but the original path returns as soon as the property loses focus. Is there a way to programatically set this property and make it stick so the errors are not displayed?

I'm using GHudson's A Better Mouse Trap code. It works great. However, I added other code from http://www.databasedev.co.uk/image-form.html to get and save the path to image files and now I think there is a conflict between the sets of code.
The Images tab on the form frm_CreateNewSpec is where I have problems. The error messages are definitely from Mouse Trap...I just don't know how to resolve the problem.
I've probably missed something simple, but don't know what.
Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated by this novice.

I have a piece of code that I'm using to display an image on a report based on a path saved to each record. the code is:
Code:
Option Compare Database
Private Sub Detail_Format(Cancel As Integer, FormatCount As Integer)
If IsNull(Me.ImagePath) Then
Me.ImgPic.Picture = "O:BellinghamIntranetProductionLabelsNo Label.bmp"
Else
Me.ImgPic.Picture = Me.ImagePath
End If
End Sub
It seems like every few months the code crashes access and then never works again. When I debug, the part that is highlighted is:
Code:
Me.ImgPic.Picture = Me.ImagePath
The only way i've found to correct it is to delete the report and the module and copy them back in from a backup database. What could be causing this code to crash or how to stabalize my database to prevent this from happening again.

I have some code that takes data from my database and creates an email with it. It also creates a folder and a word document. In the email, I would also like to include the file path as a link instead of just the path that it puts there now. Is this possible to do?
Code:
Option Compare Database
Private Sub SendEmail_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_open_word_Click
Dim oApp As Object
Dim path As String
[Code] .....

I have a form where I can add a new resident. It runs off a query that shows ID as null and has a button to add the data and refresh the form and query. I used to drop in OLE files but have since changed it to a linked image file. What I want to do is pull the info from the data that I input as a new resident.
Basically it means that any staff member can take a photo of the resident and put it in a folder and the database will point to that file.
The location is..."C:UsersRP"&[First Name]&" "&[Last Name]&".jpeg" First Name and Last Name are in the table already. I have tried using an append and an update query to no avail.

Hello
I have created an DB which we report the errors on a system we use. We would like to add images into the table where we record the problem so the programmers can see whats going wrong.
I have created a field within the table called images with a OLE Object selected. When i go to add an image i get an error message "OLE Server was lost, or the OLE server encountered an error"
Is this a problem with Access or would this be a problem with our network?

The code is a mix of someone else's and mine. Essentially the form is like a document library, based on the parameters in the form, it takes the original document that is selected by the user, then copies the file over to a central repository. When I don't pass a value over from another form using the following:
Me!AssociatedFeedback = Me.OpenArgs
Then everything works fine. Doesn't matter where I put this line of code (form open, after update, etc.) I get an MS Access error that says "Path Not Found" when you execute the "cmdSave" button.
Code:
Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Dim strFilePathFrom As String
Dim strFileFrom As String
Dim strFilePathTo As String
Dim strFileTo As String
Dim strFileDeskTop As String
[code]....

I have several text boxes which I can populate using the DLookup.I have images I want to display for individual records.I use a search (textbox) to input client name and this populates all other textboxes. I am trying to get the relevant image to display also using this search box. I have also disabled record selectors just tidy up the form. I have tried coding the image control on the AfterUpdate event of the search box. Full path to images are stored as JPG in my ClientTable not as OLE.

I have been tasked to scan family pictures in such a way so they are available to older family members to identify people younger family members dont know. My solution is to scan each photo, name them 1.jpg, 2.jpg. about 4000 images. Store them in a directory (H:Family). I then want to create a form that will use the PK which is an auto number to pull that numbered picture into the form where someone can enter the other fields. I have fun with Access but this is well above my knowledge level!!

Good morning everyone,
Thought I'd cracked my image problem by using the folllowing code I found in the microsoft resource.
Works fine in single form view however I have now created a new form that is displayed in the continuous form layout.
The image displayed for each individual form is the same as the rest dependant upon which form is highlighted at that time.
Any ideas how to get each forms own image displayed, prefferably using a similar code.
The images are linked to the database by a field in a table and the forms displayed are query results.
Any help would be fantastic, :)
Thanks for reading, Matt
Private Sub Form_AfterUpdate()
CallDisplayImage
End Sub
Private Sub Form_Current()
CallDisplayImage
End Sub
Private Sub txtImageName_AfterUpdate()
CallDisplayImage
End Sub
Private Sub CallDisplayImage()
Me!txtImageNote = DisplayImage(Me!ImageFrame, Me!txtImageName)
End Sub
stDocName = "Edit Form Search"
DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, , , stLinkCriteria

I have a database which creates hyperlinks to a network folder full of images (too many to attach to the database) but I can't figure out an easy way to show those images in forms and reports. I think I'm 90% there, looking online I figured out that if i create a text field (not a hyperlink) in the original table and copy over the hyperlink text, I can use this as the control source of an image control (with the picture type set to 'linked').
That works fine, but I would still have to manually copy over the URL every time I link to a new picture - so is there a way i can get this to feed through automatically?I've tried a couple of ways already (calculated fields, 'set value' macros) but the problem is anytime I try to get clever, Access doubles the link address, making it utterly useless as a control source.
So for example, i ran a macro to set the text field value to equal the hyperlink value of c:mydocspicture.jpg,
and the result looked like this c:mydocspicture.jpg#c:mydocspicture.jpg#Or maybe there are functions similar to excel (like 'left' and 'len') which i can use to extract the right part of the hyperlink.

I have two tables, tblAdmin (which contains my attachment field, a logo) and tblRecords (which contains customer records.I created a form (frmMain) that displays customer records, and hooked frmMain to qrySelectCustomer, which is a query that... you guessed it!... selects a particular customer to view. I wanted the logo to appear at the top of this form, but it's in a separate table. I need to allow the database owner to go in and swap out one logo for another whenever he wants (if the business changes or whatever) and all my subsequent forms/reports have to pull this logo.
I can't use any kind of DLookUp for the image/attachment, because DLookUp only fetches text not images, so what I did was create a subform called frmLogo and hooked the subform to tblAdmin where the attachment resides. It works perfectly when I just open the frmLogo, the image displays as it should. But when I open frmMain, I get a parameter value prompt because it can't find the image! Even though the subform frmLogo that's on frmMain is hooked to the correct frmAdmin table!
I tried several things, but the only thing that solved the problem was to ALSO hook frmMain to tblAdmin, which I do NOT want to do, because then I have to create a THIRD form for the customer data and hook THAT to qrySelectCustomer!
