Forms :: Any Way To Disable Hot Keys At Login Form
Nov 16, 2013
I have a fully functioning frmLogin that appears when the database opens. After correctly logging in, it takes you to the appropriate switchboard. The problem is that I set autokeys to allow F1 to automatically open the switchboard, but I don't want users to hit this to bypass my login screen. The reason for keeping the switchboard open is to force the user to close the database using the switchboard(eventually I want to limit the user to only the forms that I have created in a split database).
My other option that I tried first was writing a module that would detect when all forms are closed, then open the switchboard. But I kept getting Error91 and got frustrated/stopped attempting this method. Using the hotkey gives the user a similar functionality, but less conveniently so(since its not an automated process, etc.).
I am not able to disable NavigationButton when i login navigation form using login form. I am using MS access 2007 - 2010.i am using below code but getting error.
I have access 2010, I currently have a database in place and operational. What I am wondering is there a way to have a form come up whenever someone opens access and asks for a password and login name. Also I would like to have a 2 tier system. One for Admins and the other for users with limited access.
Details: I have a Profile form that tracks the expiration date for each client's various certifications. These dates are set up in the Short Date format in the table design of Access.
Problem: When a user accidentally presses an alphabetic key while updating an expiration date, an Access error message is triggered. This is confusing to my users as these messages are written in Access lingo. I would rather that nothing occurs at all. I wrote a case statement to disable each letter of the alphabet and applied it to the On Key Down Event for each expiration date control on my Profile form to solve this problem, but this must be applied to 28 separate controls. I would rather call a function that disables alphabetic keys for each date control in my form when called.
Questions: How do I transform my Disable Alphabetic Keys Case Statement into a function that I can call for each expiration date control? I know that when writing a function certain variables have to be declared and/or initialized.
Also, will I need to create a function to re-enable alphabetic keys or is this unnecessary because the disable alpha keys function will only be called for specific controls, not the entire form?
What I Have Tried: I have tried copying and pasting my Disable Alphabetic Keys Case Statement into a module to attempt to create a function, but it needs work.
Below I have included 2 types of code: (1) The original On Key Down code applied to each date control on my form (2) The same code written as an attempt at a function
Original Profile Form Code to Disable Alphabetic Keys in the On Key Down event for each date control
Private Sub txtCert1ExpDate_KeyDown(KeyCode As Integer, Shift As Integer) Select Case KeyCode 'All message box text is for me to test the code, not for the user to see Case vbKeyA MsgBox ("you pressed the A key")
I have a ms access application in Front End and linked tables to sql server 2008 r2 in back end.. every time I open my application the linked tables ask to me for the user and password of the sql server user of the odbc conection. I want to connect to my sql database without login every time the user open the application, I know that can be possible if I start session from vba code...
I have a tab control on a form, and I want to use "Hotkeys' to get from one page to another (or more specifically, to toggle the visibility of the pages).
So, I set up the tab control with the pages I want hidden set with visible=No. Then I enable the Form.KeyPreview, so that the form will get a chance to look at all the key presses.
Lastly I have a Form.KeyDown handler, that looks like this:
Code: Private Sub Form_KeyDown(KeyCode As Integer, Shift As Integer) MsgBox "Key pressed (1): Shift value is " & Format(Shift) ' Detect Hot-keys for the pages in the MultiPage wizard, and make them Visible or not visible ' P/D/X/S/R/H/C If Shift = acAltMask + acShiftMask Then
[Code] ....
This is early on in the design iteration - more will happen with the pages, but this is an easy way of reviewing various aspects of a project.
So what happens?
I put a breakpoint at the first If statement, and sure enough, it picks up the Ctrl key or the Alt key, whenever they are pressed. (I need to use the mouse to clear the msgbox, naturally!) When I press both of them (Ctrl/Alt) I get the required value of 6, but I never seem to get to the second msgbox. In addition, if I comment out the first message box, I also never seem to get to the second msgbox (ie the point where the combination has been detected.
KeyDown obviously has to fire for each component of a HotKey combination, and the Shift parameter has been shown to be cumulative. The only thing I can think of is that somehow I need to turn off keypress processing somewhere else (Used to be possible to use Cancel to do this, I seem to recall).
i have a login form in access , i want to set the value for the textbox , for example i want to set "Username" appear in the textbox when in click in the textbox clear the textbox like the title in the web it is possible !!
I have been trying for weeks to get my login form to open up to a specific record on the mainform. I have built a form out of my Employee tbl (mainform). The table stores (ID,Name, password, EmpNumber ect.) I built a subform in that allows the user to type in the number of overtime worked on a paticular day. I have disabled the navigation on the main form so users can't advance to the next user but have enable the natigation on the subform so a particular user can advance to the next week of available overtime to input data. The goal is to get user login form to display a particular record on the main form and open a different form in the user is a supervisor.
Option Compare Database Private intLogonAttempts As Integer Private Sub cmdExit_Click() DoCmd.Quit End Sub Private Sub cmdLogin_Click()
[code]...
'If User Enters incorrect password 3 times database will shutdown
intLogonAttempts = intLogonAttempts + 1 If intLogonAttempts > 3 Then MsgBox "You do not have access to this database. Please contact your system administrator.", vbCritical, "Restricted Access!" Application.Quit End If End Sub
I've managed to create a multi-user login form with macro.
user1 is able to login with his password and user2 is able to login with his password. latter I noticed that user1 is able to login with any password in the table and use his previous password to login even after changing it.
I need to know the procedure or event code for user login form at opening.
I am working on database which is almost done and i defined tables for users with passwords.
I need to know how i can assign Login Form to be appear on opening of database no other person than listed users should be able to enter or open database without password, to enforce this i made a login form.
I have a login form that closes automatically after a specified time if you do not login with user name and password. It also keeps track of how many times you login and whatever value you set for a password reset it forces you to change when that value is met.
Problem: If you do not login within the allotted time even though a password change has been scheduled, my code resets the login count back to 0.
This is what i want to get around if I can. Either I have to pause the timer or stop the reset.
After you enter the password is when the login count is fired.
And also when it checks if a new password is required.
I am working on a db for a restaurant expense account. I am trying to design a multi-user login form to allow administrator and other users to log in the data entry form. I am a newbie to MS Access.
I have used Combo box. security_level field is the one that describes their levels and there are only two levels 1 and 2.. I have a table called User (user_ ID, User_Name, Password, Security_Level) On form there is a combo box for user name and text box for password. Two command button where one is for EXIT (Closing the application) and the second button is to run the code.
if the password in table User matches value chosen in combo box or user name and password are correct Then it should check if Security_Level of the user is equal to 1 to displays a form called Admin and when the Security_Level of the user is equal to 2 to display a form called user1.All that I want is to have a login that has two user and each user when login opens his/her own form which is different from the other user.
In A2007 if you disable the Navigation Buttons on the form the Me.RecordCount will be set to 1 when the form opens ? I replace the Nav buttons with my own set but my "Go Next" button will not work untill I hit "Go to Last". This apparently restores the recordset count to the correct number of records.
I am running Access 2010. I have added the following to the "On Open" event on my main form:
Code:
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer) DoCmd.ShowToolbar "Ribbon", acToolbarNo DoCmd.NavigateTo "acNavigationCategoryObjectType" DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdWindowHide Me.ShortcutMenu = False End Sub
My main form (frmMain) is displayed when the database opens. As you can see, I am hiding the ribbon and the navigation pane from users. I also want to prevent users from right clicking on the form and opening it in Design view - trying to prevent any monkey business. However, the line:Me. ShortcutMenu = False
is not preventing users from right clicking on the form and getting the shortcut menu and going into Design view.If I go to Options and uncheck: "Allow Default Shortcut Menus" then I lose the ability to print reports because I have the ribbon hidden and this will not allow right click on reports.Converting to .accde is not an option at this time.
I am relatively new to Access and VB. I am trying to create a log-in system that assigns a security clearance to each user and then restricts access to certain forms and reports based on security clearance. Right now, I have set up the log-in system - that seems to work fine. But when I try to lock the form based on security clearance, I get the 2450 - Form Not Found - error.
The code I am using on the form is as follows:
Private Sub Form_Open (Cancel As Integer)
If Forms!frmLogin!cboUser.Column(4) <> 1 Then MsgBox "You do not have access to this form", vbOkOnly DoCmd.Close acForm, "formname" EndIf
I am asked to create a checklist for a number of tasks to be executed in a particular shift. However in some tasks can be skipped. There are three shifts per day.
To accomplish this i have created a continious form with a number of checkboxes per task which represent the days of the week. The tasks itself are stored in a seperate table with a checkbox per shift (task settings). If the tasks must be performed in a particular shift, the checkbox is activated (= true).
Goal here is, if a task doesn't have to be executed in a shift the task should not be visible on the continious form. The recordsource of the continuous form is a query, which contains a join between the table with the task settings and the table with the tasks performed.
I have placed some code to perform the task in the form's current event
In the continuous form current event I have placed for every checkbox the following code:
Private Sub Form_Current() If Me. PerformTaskShift.Value = True Then Me.MaandagOchtend.Enabled = False End If End Sub
However when i execute the code and load the form, not only the checkbox in the row mentioned are set invisible, all the rows are. Is there any way to set only the checkboxes on the rows mentioned invisible, in stead of all rows?
I have a form called PAF_Assignment and on this form there are many textboxes for editing. After all fields are entered, the user clicks on a button and this button populates the PAF_Issued_Date field with the actual date.
Then I want to disable (enable=False) all fields on this form once there is a date on PAF_Issued_Date as I don't want any user to make any changes after submitting it, although the user would still be able to read the information submitted.
I have tried the following...
PAF_Assignment Form AfterUpdate Event If Me.PAF_Issued_Date=Not null Then Me.FieldName1.Enabled=False Me.FieldName2.Enabled=False Me.FieldName3.Enabled=False
[Code] ......
However this is not working, there is no error message or anything but the fields remain enabled with the date...
Basically I want to put a code in the "on load" event of a form that enables or disables navigation buttons based on a value in a table (the table has 1 record and 1 column).
So if the value is "A", I want to hide navigation buttons on load; if it is "B", I want to show navigation buttons on load.
I know I can set this property in each form, but I have a number of forms that I want to configure at the same time.
My problem is that I don't know how to reference the value in the table.
