General :: Display Record In A Subform Based On Combo Box Value

Oct 11, 2012

I'm creating a database for my inventory. For now, my database have two tables namely tblSupplies and tblDetails. I have a main from (frmMain) and a subform (subDetails). On the main form i have a combobox (cboSupplies) and 5 textboxes, the cboSupplies and the five textboxes are unbound. If I select a value in cboSupplies it will populate the rest of the textboxes-OK.

What I want to accomplish is that when I select a value in cboSupplies it will grab all related records from the tblDetails and populate these records on the subform (subDetails).

SuppliesID was used as the link field from mainform to subform but its not working. Please note that SuppliesID field in tblSupplies and tblDetails has a One-to-Many relationships.

Forms :: Auto Populate Subform Based On Selection In Parent Form

Apr 30, 2015

I've got a Parent form (frmProspectDetails) with a subform linked (fsubProspectSkill).

This form is for users to enter general information on a prospect (names, position, height, weight, etc) on the parent form and skill levels on the subform.

Currently the subform is set so the user has to manually select the specific skill set for the prospects position, and then enter a value for each skill level(1-99).

I'm trying to get the subform to auto populate with a specific skill set based on the position selected in the parent form, so the user only needs to input the skill level without selecting each specific skill.

This data is then stored in a table (tblProspectSkill)

To add, I've created a form (frmPosition) that lists the specific skills set for each position.

I'm not sure how to get this subform (fsubProspectSkill) to auto populate with the specified skill set from frmPosition.

Forms :: Continuous Subform - Control To Display Image / Icon Based On Another Field

Jan 9, 2014

I have a continuous subform which queries a table of attachments. I'm using Access 2007 but not using the Attachment datatype; this DB will grow considerably and I don't want to waste precious space by filling it with bulky files. So instead, I have code which makes a copy of the attachment and adds the hyperlink (to the copy) to the table instead.

Now - I want to add a control to the subform to display an icon / image reflecting the file type of the attachment (Word doc, Excel s/s, PDF etc.)

But not sure how to go about it.

I was thinking I could use FileSystemObject.GetFileExtension at the point in the code where the attachment is added, and add a new field to my attachments table (i.e. translate "*.xls*" to "Excel", etc.) Then store / embed a handful of images for the core types I would expect and use an image control on the subform to display the image based on the value of that field.

But is that even possible / feasible?

Or, is there a handy API which can retrieve the icon associated with a file type based on what has been installed on the local machine (even if there is, there's still the problem of setting up the image control to display the appropriate icon specific to each record...)

Or, is there another control available which would be better suited to something like this than an Image control?

Forms :: Display Record Count From Subform In Tab

Jul 1, 2014

I have a form that contains a number of tabs, each tab then contains a subform. The basic gist is that there are clients and each client chart needs to be audited to make sure that the every clients chart has all of the correct information in it. So if for example, each client needs an initial treatment plan, there would be a tab called Initial Treatment Plan that would contain a subform (continuous form) displaying all of the clients that are missing this information.

I would like to display the number of records that are being displayed in each subform in the tab next to the name to make it easier for the auditor to know how many which tabs have content to be updated. For example, if there are 10 clients that are missing their initial treatment plan, the tab would read "Initial Treatment Plan (10)".

I was able to get a total number of rows in datasheet view, but I don't know if there is a way to have that field as a hidden field in continuous form view that can have its value displayed in the tab.

Forms :: Display Date And Time Based On When Record Was Created

Jun 30, 2013

I have set up a form and only want to display the date and time that will appear automatically based on when the record was created. I definitely don't know how to do this.

The format that I'm looking for is: 07/24/13 11:45:44pm

From what I can see I would need two separate fields to accomplish this. I would prefer to only use one if possible. I would like to execute the value within the new record as it is entered. That date and time from that point should never change.

I will want to use the date and time in the future for quality control.

Forms :: Display Data Based On Previous Record But Not All Fields

Jan 22, 2015

There is a form which the user fills in 8 fields and saves it. Once saved, a new record opens.

However, I want to modify the save button to save the previous record and display a new record with only a limited no of fields to display from previous record, say 4 fields display from previous record, and the user fills the remaining 4 and saves it. Thus, the save cmd should continue to display 4 fields from the previous record.Already tried below code for save button but it displays all data of previous record as it is, doesn't display blank space for combo.118 and text2

DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acPrevious
Combo118.Text = ""
text2.Text=""

Forms :: Subform Datasheet Record Selected Display

Dec 2, 2014

In Access 2010, if you have a form with a subform in datasheet view, and you move the focus away from the subform, how can you tell which record(s) on the subform are selected?

When the subform has the focus, the selected row is shown with a blue/grey tint. But as soon as the subform loses the focus, this disappears and all rows look identical.

Its an issue as I have 2 datasheet subforms on my main form, with the 2nd showing records related to the record selected in the 1st. But as soon as the 2nd subform receives the focus, it is impossible to see which record in subform 1 was selected.

I have tried conditional formatting, but that does not work.

Forms :: Subform Always Shows First Record Based On Date

Jul 14, 2013

So, let's say I have a table named FLOWER_SHIPPING that has field:

Date [Date]
Flower_name [Short Text]
Amount [Long Integer]
Sender [Short Text]
Address [Long Text]

Then I created a form named MAINF with FLOWER_SHIPPING as its RecordSource. The form only has one TextBox: Date.

Then in MAINF, I created a subform named SUBF with FLOWER_SHIPPING as its RecordSource, in Datasheet View. It shows all fields in FLoWER_SHIPPING as it is.

The link between MAINF and SUBF is Date.

I want SUBF to only show record based on the Date chosen in Date TextBox in MAINF. So far, yes it did what I want. But with problems:

1) [SOLVED] SUBF does show record based on the Date I've chosen in MAINF's TextBox Date, but it ALWAYS ALSO shows the first record on the FLOWER_SHIPPING table. And the date in the first record always changed into the Date I just input in the TextBox Date in the MAINF. Automatically.

Example: I chose 6/22/2013, and there are 2 records with that date. the SUBF will show 3 records: those 2 records + the first row of FLOWER_SHIPPING with its Date automatically set to 6/22/2013.

2) When I chose a date in MAINF, I have to click everywhere in the SUBF so that it will refresh its content. Can I have it refresh automatically everytime after a date chosen?

Make Popup Form (Dialog)'s Height As Same As Window/Montior/Screen Height

May 7, 2008

Hi,

When the user click the button, then it will give out a popup form to the screen, but I want to make the popup form's height as same as the screen/window/monitor's height, because the popup form's height is larger than the screen's height, and every user's monitor's height is different. So, I have to make it flexiable change of the height of the popup form.
How can I check the screen/window height by VBA function?
In Excel, it has Application.Height to check. In MS Access Form, I cannot find one for doing that.

Please let me know if you have one.
Thanks.

Display Subform Based On Selection

Mar 20, 2006

A tricky one this. Searched for answer but cannot find.

Acc 2003.

I have a main menu with 2 subforms.

In the on load event it sets the source object of the first subform, which displays a list of options (menu Style).

When choosing an option from SubForm1, I want SubForm2 to display the form I have coded in.

I currently have within subform 1 in the on click event the following.

Form_MainMenu.subform1.sourceobject = "formtodisplayinsubform2"

When running this from the main menu, nothing at all happens.

When opening just the subform 1 on it's own and clicking the option, it merely opens the main menu form.

Can anyone see what I am missing?

Thanks in advance

Subform Height Problem

Oct 10, 2006

Hi everyone, have a problem which is probably very easy to fix but i cannot for the life of me figure out why it is happening. I'm hoping someone with more experience than me knows what this is and how to sort it. I have a form with controls at the top then a subform and then a series of buttons below the subform. I have recently added another control above the subform and moved the subform down, but this has caused the subform to appear partially covering the buttons appearing below it. Seems simple....shrink the subform. It doesn't work. In the design view the subform only has a height of 5cm but in the front end it seems to grow with the form as that increases in size. can grow has been set to no on the subform and the details section. Nothing i do seems to stop the subform from making it's own mind up about it's height!!!

Thanks in advance for any help

Dan

Display Data On Subform Based On Comboboxes In Main Form?

Jun 25, 2006

Hello, I'm trying to use information based on items selected in a combobox in the main form. Once the user selects the desired info in the comboboxes on the main form, I want the subform to display the data that matches the search criteria in the main form. For instance, if I select a job number, I want everything that matches that job number to be displayed the subform (along with the corresponding job name, version, etc.). I also want to get more specific in a search where I could select a job number, job name, and job version from the comboboxes in the main form to where all the data that matches the search criteria in the main form will be displayed in the subform.

Attached is what I have so far. The form I'm trying to perform this in is the SearchByResults form and the subform is the qryk95 form. I'm trying to populate this using the K95-Template table. I performed a query (qryk95) to select only the fields I want to display in my subform. Any help would be much appreciated.

Forms :: Calculate Subtotal On Subform And Display On Upper Subform

Jun 20, 2013

im having problems getting a subform to calculate another subform's total and display it as it keeps coming up with the #NAME?.Basically my database is like this

tblCustomer
- tblOrders
- tblItems

and this is displayed on a form. so you can flick through clients, then flick through the orders and its broken down into the items inside each order.i have seen many answers that are only about calculating something on a subform and displaying on a form but this does not work when displaying on a 'parent' subform. the form structure looks like this

frmCustomers
- sFrmCustomerItems
- sFrmCustomerOrders

i have a calculated control textbox in the footer of sFrmCustomerOrders with sums up all the prices using =sum([Price])and in my sFrmCustomerItems, i have a field called Amount (the total amount of all the items) and the Control Source formula i was using was =[Forms]![sFrmCustomerOrders]![sFrmCustomerItems]![txtTotalPrice] but i get a #NAME? error.
