I have a Access 2003 database I am developing which has a table called "tbl_users" in which I have the fields: user name(text), network id(text), status(yes/no), long on time (date/time), log on date(date/time), log off time(date/time), log off date(date/time).
When a user logs on my autoexec macro calls a prodcedure which sets that users status to "yes" or ticked and stamps the log on time and date. Is it possible to call this procedure even if they bypass the autoexec by holding down the shift key?
In reverse to this when they click the "Exit System" on the Main Menu form there is a call to a procedure which unticks there status field and stamps the log off time and date. Again, can I trigger this procedure even if they exit the database without using my "Exit System" button (ie click the "x" to close the database)?
I am developing a cylinder tracking system, when i user logs in its necessary to record this action, as when they try to fill a cylinder i need to be able to record that this particular employee has updated the table and by recorindg the user login in i will able to do this.
IS the anyway of being able to record whos logged in?
I have created a form to input invoice details with a sub form to input the products with the prices etc.
This all works fine but now I want to create totals such as Total Goods, Total VAT and Invoice Total.
After many searches of the internet, I found out how to do this and put in the calculations which works fine and displays on the main form without a problem.
Now I have a problem as these need to be saved to one of my tables.
As these are unbound text boxes with only the calculation on, the data is not being recorded onto the form which is what I want.
Do I have to create a macro of some sort to do this or?
I have included a few images of what I have done but if you would like the database file I can upload that (I will take away all the information that is sensitive to me if that is okay?)
Displaying the 'Last Modified' dates and time on a form. How to go about doing what I want to do.
I would like to display on a form in one single field the date & time that any of the fields on that form were changed and. I would like to display it in such a way that it cannot be altered by anyone. If it is possible to capture and display on the form in a separate field which user account accessed and changed the record then all the better. Obviously if nothing is updated then the date and time stays the same.
I will have to create two new fields in the table that relates to the form and this I have done - one of format Date/Time and one of format Text.
I have a table with "n" fields. Each field will constitute a form. Each form will have a button which will open the next form. Basically I want to record new data into the table (database) through FORMS. What I am unable to do is to record data on the same line in the table !!! What I have so far is that I am able to move to the next record when creating a new NCR but the rest of the data (fields) are going to overwright the first record in the table (first line).
I would attach my database here but the file size is bigger that permitted. If someone interested I could foward it on e-mail.
My second issue is that after recording data into the table I want to be able to modify that data through a form. When a certain NCR number is choosed this will pop-up the NCR form with all fields from the table.

I have a form to record student information. On my student table i have a school I.D that links to the primary key of my school table.
My problem is that in my form, i want to be able to fill in the rest of the fields about the school info based on the I.D chosen.
i.e.
student table: Student id name address school I.D (FK)
School info table: School I.D (PK) school name contact name email address
My form that's linked to the student table needs all the information from the school info table in separate fields but i can only select School I.D in the Control Source Property.
The user will be creating a new project that contains a bunch of releases. The releases have standard names which are stored in a table tbl_ReleaseNames It should be noted that the list of names is not static.
The user selects which of the releases pertains to their project and then based on their selections, new records would be created in tbl_RFP_Release and then a subsequent form would open where it would display each of these newly created releases where they could enter additional information. I thought of creating an unbound checkbox associated with each of the standard names, and then checking to see if the checkbox was checked and then creating the new records followed by opening up the new form.
Working with a bank that wants a file from us so they can import into their check reconciliation program. Got the export from the accounting program working for the info they need, but the bank guy says he needs a file structure like this:
(first row is header..don't worry about what the stuff means for now) 1234578990000000000000000 (rest of rows are details) 1234589000807091234 1234589000807093456
notice the line breaks between header and rows? Wouldn't this call for a line break and mess up an import program? Bank guy isn't a database person and is clueless
i'm trying to build something that knows when to notify someone that they can call a trade, given 1) a callable date 2) a notice period and 3) the relevant cities
'--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ' Procedure : NoficationDate ' Date : 28/03/08 ' Purpose : to calculate the date of notification for an EMTN, given the call date & notice period & cities '--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ' Public Function NotificationDate(dtCall As Date, intPeriod As Integer, strSixDigitCities As String) As Date
Dim intWorkingDaysBefore As Integer Dim strCities(2) As String Dim dtLoop As Date
Do dtLoop = dtLoop - 1 If Left(Format(dtLoop, "ddd"), 1) <> "s" And IsBankHoliday(dtLoop, strCities(0)) = False _ And IsBankHoliday(dtLoop, strCities(1)) = False And IsBankHoliday(dtLoop, strCities(0)) = False Then intWorkingDaysBefore = intWorkingDaysBefore + 1 End If
Loop Until intWorkingDaysBefore = intPeriod
NotificationDate = dtLoop
End Function
'--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ' Procedure : IsBankHoliday ' Date : 28/03/08 ' Purpose : to see if it's a bank holiday '--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ' Public Function IsBankHoliday(dtInput As Date, strCity As String) As Boolean Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Set rs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM qry_Tass_All_Hols WHERE CITY = '" & strCity & "' AND HDATE=#" & Format(dtInput, "mm/dd/yyyy") & "#", dbReadOnly) If rs.RecordCount > 0 Then IsBankHoliday = True Else IsBankHoliday = False End If rs.Close Set rs = Nothing
End Function
BUT it runs like arthritic toad, it makes a minute per execution and i was hoping to scale it up to 4000 records => 2 days of run time
any ideas on how to attack this problem...even guesses appreciated, i can try things out and see if they work
I am working on a database that uses a form requiring personnel to log in. This information comes from a user table and is something that I have added on numerous occasions to various databases. The question I have is in relations to a "lockout." How do I set it up so that someone gets locked out after so many attempts loging in on this form?
Is it possible to have a form and dependant on the security level of the user, will depend on what control will appear? Or can I have the controls there and lock them to a user?
I have a DB of staff directory and I want to lock it so users can only view information, supervisors can edit and admin have full control.
I've done it so far by creating a different form and controls for each level but it a lot of work and queries. Is there a simpler way to do it?
I'm using access 2007 and have some date fields in my forms, i'd like to be able to blank out weekends and public holidays from the calender/date selector in these fields so theres no way those dates can be selected. Is this possible? Thanks.
Query collect all the information about the unfinished business at the base and at the start-up of the base shows form reminders.
The base is splitet into front and back end, and are located on the server. Each user is assigned rights what can be done in the database.
The problem where I am "stuck" is to make the form reminder that can be seen only by those users whose jobs are not completed and not all users of the database. Each user uses his computer with your username and password. I tried to connect to form reminder with this information, but I failed.
I have an Assess 2007 database with a user table. This table holds database user names and user passwords an entry permission to the database. I also have a welcome form that activates when user enters the database using either of the user names and user password in the user table. Now, I would like to display the database user name (NOT THE SYSTEM USER NAME] on the welcome form of the user that enters the database.
Is there a way to create a form that anytime i open it , i enter the data, when i hit save. the fields in the form goes blank and the data is saved in the table. Also when i open the form again, and repeat this process , it just adds to the table and does not delete previous data.
I am currently working on small access 2010 database where the database consists of a table and one input form. This input form will be mainly used by two persons. In the form there is a dropdown where one selects his name to keep record who entered the data, however I would like this to be according the logged in domain account. This will make sure none of them selects the wrong user by mistake.
Is there a way how get the current logged on domain account into the form ?
I am building a form in access and I am trying to find a way where user input isn't possible in the associated textbox when "No" from on option box is selected.
I'm creating a database about Vets and I need to make a button on my menu form that will open something like message box that will allow me to type in something (in my case Customer ID) which will then apply the filter on the customer form and allow me to do edits. I have only done the macro that will open the customer form but can't figure out how to do the filter part.
I have a form that allows the user to select a record in a combo box. When this selection is made I want a 2nd form to open and give the user a place to enter additional info about that item selected. I have the forms working correctly but now I would really like to add the 2nd form to the first form as a subform but when I try this I get the message"The expressing is typed incorrectly or is too complex to be evaluated..." There are no fields on the first form that link directly to the 2nd form - because the combo box in an unbound combo (the selection in the combo box is what the 2nd form opens base on) I tried to add this as a subform with no parent/child info and I get the message stated.
I was hoping to make the 2nd form not visible until the selection was made in the combo box then make it visible for the info to be entered. Would really like it to be on the same form not as a separate form opening.I believe I just found that the reason for the message. It seems not to be a subform problem but is because the selection in the combo box needs to be made BEFORE the form can open. So now the question is - how can I make this a subform and avoid this error when the main form first opens. I will test the visibility and see if not visible until the selection clears this up.
I've managed to create a multi-user login form with macro.
user1 is able to login with his password and user2 is able to login with his password. latter I noticed that user1 is able to login with any password in the table and use his previous password to login even after changing it.
