Forms :: Blank Form Appearing When Query Returns No Record
Mar 24, 2013When a query returns no records, the form appears blank. How can I make the form appear eventhough there are no records to show prior to inputting data.

View RepliesI have a tabbed navigation form. I have a form on one of the tabs, [tab1frm] that a query that consists of 6 fields that are each from a different query.as the record source. This shows a percentage field, an image field, and a count field for current month and then then the same fields for year-to-date.
The problem is that when there are no records for the current month, the whole form [tab1frm] is blank. I read that if no records are returned this can happen, but since there are always records returned for year-to-date, I don't know why its happening. Is there any way to make blank fields show up or to show the most recent records so the form is never blank?
Access 2010
One of the Field Names in my table is titled ActionDeadlineDate, with Date/Time selected as the Data Type for the field. On one of my forms I have created a text box based on this field. Under Properties/Control Source for this text box I have inserted the following formula:
=[DateReceivedinADR]+40 Basically, this forces the text box to auto populate to a date 40 days beyond whatever date is entered in the DateReceivedinADR text box. On the form itself everything works flawlessly.
I have created a query that includes the ActionDeadlineDate field. However, when I run a report off this query it will not populate the date for this field. On the report this column is just blank, with no date indicated.
All other date fields I use on the form (at least those without an underlying date formula) appear as they should. Is there a way to make a date based on a formula appear on the report as well?
Hope I didn't make this too complicated. Maybe what I am asking for is not possible since a date formula is being utilized in the text box, rather than a simple date.
I am having a problem updating a record on a table called BookInTable . The field I want to update is called Engineer and the record is found using the field Barcode. I have a form with 2 text boxes BarTxt and EngTxt as well as a button called SaveBtn. on the OnClick event of the SaveBtn I put the following code
Code:
Private Sub SaveBtn_Click()
If IsNull(Me![BarTxt]) Or (Me![BarTxt]) = "" Then
MsgBox "Please enter a value!", vbOKOnly, "Invalid Search Criterion!"
Me![BarTxt].SetFocus
Exit Sub
End If
DoCmd.RunSQL "Update BookInTable SET Engineer = " & Me!EngTxt & " WHERE BarCode ='" & Me![BarTxt] & "'"
End Sub
But this is bringing up the enter Parameter value dialog box for whatever I type into EngTxt. If I enter text into that box and then click okay it then updates to the record. how can I stop the from enter Parameter value dialog box appearing?
I have been modifying an existing report that was formatting and printing fine but since I modified it (adding some text boxes and moving some controls around), it is now adding a blank page.
For example, If the report was normally 2 pages long with page numbers, it is inserting a blank page without page number between page 1 and page 2......
I have created a navigation form with quick access to the forms and reports I use most often. The Navigation Form (which I named Control Panel) automatically lands on the Tutor_Information Form on a current record. However, I would like for it to open to a blank form instead while retaining the ability to access the current records. Individually, when opening the Tutor_Information Form from the Navigation Panel, it opens to a blank record.
I used a 2 step macro
1. OpenForm
2. GoToRecord - New.
How can I make it do the same thing when landing on the Navigation Form (Control Panel)? I am using Access 2013.
I've recently decided to move a database that had all its information on 1 table and divided it into multiple tables.
Attached is the relationship as well as the form.
The issue I have is that when I click the form, it only shows a blank record with none of previous records.
Data entry is already set to NO. I'm wondering if it's an issue with my relationships, tblStudioDescription is the parent table and the others are child tables so I linked them with the ID and set referential integrity.
Before my registration form is submitted i have created a message box saying "would you like to submit?"
but it pops up as if it were to be an error message.. i will attach my coding and the pop up ..
When entering information into a blank form, I would like to be able to continue entering information to another additional blank form after my last entry. Is there a way to continue to a blank form after entering information into the previous blank form? I would just like to continue without having to close the entire form and then reopening another form.

Is there anything that would cause an integer with value 245 not to work? The query does still return values when I run it manually with value 245 and the strings for the query are all correct, hence why it works perfectly until you try and run it for week 245.

I have a report that generates 100 items in alphabetical order. All of the items are also displayed in a table. I have a bound form attached to the that table, and when the items appear they are not in alphabetical order. Therefore, it is a hassle typing in the data when the form will not appear in order, because instead of going in order I am flipping through pages. What is causing this to happen? And what can I do to fix this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm relatively new to access. I have a database i created for my school project everything works fine until I try running a query with 2 or more tables, the queries return a datasheet with all the table headings but no data content, I ensured that there is data in the tables that I'm trying to join for the query.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've built a PostgreSQL database for some ecology data and am trying to use MS Access 2010 to make a front-end for it.
I've created a form to display site data; it includes such fields as site ID, site name, county, state, landscape, etc. (There are more, but if I can get the idea down with a couple of these, I should be good to handle the rest). One can click through the form and see 14 pages of site details, which is fine because there are 14 sites.
What I want to do now is make a search form in which one can enter values for site ID, site name, county, etc, and somehow get the pages of the display form that match those values. It's not terribly important to me how that output looks - whether it's a list of matches that allows for clicking on a match and showing just one page of the display form, or whether it's a filtered subset of the display form pages that one still clicks through to view them all.
if there is code to write, where do I type it? Do I start my search form by making a form with the search fields as values, or is there some other way? How do I make those search fields into search boxes rather than display boxes?
I am currently creating a database in a hierarchical system that is to be used by multiple users to enter information specific to them. The tables are arranged like this:
Owners
Modules
Tasks
Highlights
Theses are connected using primary ID's and Particular Entries in the next table so they form a hierarchy - when you expand owners it brings up a list of Modules attached to that owner, then expand each module and it brings up a list of tasks associated with that module, expand the task and it brings up a list of highlights associated with that task. This is all very straightforward of course but what I would like to do is create forms that basically match so that the users can navigate from their name, through their modules and tasks and then add highlights to each task.
For this I have been using continuous forms to list all the different entries and inserting a button in each entry that I would like to link to the next form and find the specific data, however when I try to do this the button always without fail will just return all the entries from the form rather than the specific ones requested. I set up the button using the wizard and select 'open form and find specific data' and then select two entries that are identical on each form. I have trawled the internet quite a bit to try and find why this is happening and have inserted various bits of code etc into the embedded macro in an attempt to make it work but to no avail.
I wonder if there is something I need to activate on the form that the button connects to aswel or if I need to connect these forms using the relationship that I used to connect the tables (I am still using a unique identifier). If I connect to a single form it will display the first entry on the list (and I can cycle through them all) on a continuous form it will display all entries starting with the first.I would like it to display all entries for the selected record on the form.
On a form I have the following field:
Name: PaymentsMade
Control Source: =DLookUp("SumOfPrePaymentValue","qryInvoicePrepaym entSum","InvoiceId = " & [InvoiceId])
In the form's footer I have the unbound text control:
Name: SumOfPaymentsMade
Control Source: =Sum([PaymentsMade])
SumOfPaymentsMade returns #Error
How do I get it to return the sum of PaymentsMade?

My problem is when i use this form as a sub form, it makes the main form close as well. How can I make the main form stay and only the sub form close.
I'm trying to make a form so that it opens up to a blank/new record. Any tips? Can't seem to figure it out.
Thanks, Jonathan
I was reading some other posts and someone said they got their Forms to Open ready to accept data, just curious how to go about this...

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a subform that stays in data sheet view for entry, the form this sits on is launched by a macro. This macro on the main form launches the form and adds in the linking numbers by a setvalue. The main form has the linked number on it and this number is then linked by master and child to the subform. The problem comes in when you start adding in data. The line of data is filled by using combo boxes and some text fields and ends with a time/date stamp Now(). The problem is, even if you dont fill the entire line if a user refreshes or closes the form it adds a blank entry with the linking number but all fields blank.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a form with a drop down of employee names and a tabbed subform.
I have the form and subform set up to open on a new record and, when the employee name is selected to fill the subform with that employee's data.
It is a split db with the be on the network server and everyone has their own copy of the fe. When I open the front end the combo box is blank but the first page on the tabbed subform shows data. If I close it and reopen it, sometimes its blank and other times it still shows data.
What else do I need to do to ensure that it is a blank record?
Also, I am using the MouseHook.dll and included it in my .exe (zip) file to all of my users, instructing it to download to the same location as the .mdb file (C:/Training Database). Will this work or does the MouseHook.dll need to be somewhere else?
Thanks,

i have a subform as a continuous form, and at the bottom, there is the normal blank record (created automatically), to enter a new record. Is it possible to attach a piece of code to a field but which will be available only to the field of this blank record, rather than being available for the particular field of all the records in this continuous form ?
Basically i want that if the focus is on this blank record, and i will hit the tab key i want to move the focus to a control, on the main form, that's why i want it specifically, when only this blank record at the end has the focus.
Thank you for any suggestions.
Ok i have a customer form with a button that opens a job form the customer and job tables are linked with a customerid field.
When the job form opens the records are filtered to show the ones matching the customerid displayed on the customer form.
Problem is when i then go to add a new record on the job form it leaves the customer id field blank instead of knowing to pass on the customer id ?
I have a form that is used to both Enter & Edit records. There is a "search" button to aid in finding records.
I have been asked to have the form open to a blank record instead of the first record in the table.
Is there a way to do this without setting the "DataEntry" property to true, as this basiclly disables the "search" button.
Thanks
