Forms :: Button To Add New Record To Form

Mar 5, 2014

I am using a table to hold data relating to 3 very similar products, one distinction is that one of these items has a value in that remains constant. If I set this field to have a default value at table design level - all 3 units get this same value, which is incorrect.

I am using continuous forms and if I use VBA code in the Current() event I can prefill the corresponding text field with the default value .... but, it is quite easy to add additional rows without meaning to, the problem here is that if the user creates records in error selection of the record pointer will not permit its removal from within the form - even through AllowDeletions is enabled.

So, if I disable AllowAdditions in the form properties - the form now prevents any new rows being added to the form at all... which is what I expect.

However, I was hoping to add a command button to other form footer for the user to physically confirm before the record is added to the form but I dont know what function to call to add the new record to the form....

Forms :: Continuous Form With Command Button On Each Record To Open Another Form

Jul 30, 2014

I have a continuous form in which I put a command button for each record called "detail". I would like to click on the "detail" button and make it open another form containing all (and only) the info on this record.

At first I refused to use an "id" to link both forms, but finally I added the "id" in the table... however still does not work.

continuous form: "04 - GASTOS_BUSQUEDA"
id field on continuous form: "Gastid"

pop-up (details) form: "GASTOS_EDITAR"
id on pop-up (details) form: "editar_id"

This is what I have tried on the "click" properties of the "details" button field (called "btn_editgs"):

1)
DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", acNormal, , "[editar_id] = " & Me.Gastid

2)
DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", , , "[editar_id]=" & Me.Gastid

3)
stLinkCriteria = "[editar_id]=" & Me![Gastid]
DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", , , stLinkCriteria

4)
Private Sub btn_editgs_Click()
On Error GoTo btn_editgs_Click_Err
Dim strWhere As String
strWhere = "[editar_id] = " & Me.Gastid
DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", , , strWhere
btn_editgs_Click_Exit:
Exit Sub
btn_editgs_Click_Err:
MsgBox Error$
Resume btn_editgs_Click_Exit
End Sub

Forms :: Button To Open New Record On Another Form

Aug 8, 2013

I have a form called [Add or Edit Tag Numbers]. The primary key for the control source of this form is [TagNumber]. I have created a button on this form that opens a second form, [Add or Edit Calibrations], to a new record and carries the [TagNumber] through to the corresponding field on the [Add or Edit Calibrations] form.

Almost everything works. I click the button and the second form is opened to a new record, with the tag number on the first form carried through to the seond form. The only issue is that when I go back to the first form and try to close it, I get an error saying that I can't save the record. It is error 2169. This is especially strange because even if I exit after seeing this record, additions in both forms are saved. This is the code for the button, called [NewCalibration]

Private Sub cmdNewCalibration_Click()
DoCmd.Save acForm, "Add or Edit Tag Numbers"
DoCmd.OpenForm "Add or Edit Calibrations", acNormal
DoCmd.GoToRecord acDataForm, "Add or Edit Calibrations", acNewRec
Forms![Add or Edit Calibrations]![TagNumber] = [Forms]![Add or Edit Tag Numbers]![TagNumber]
End Sub

How I can avoid getting this message? I would prefer to use a button over a subform.

Forms :: Cmd Button To Open Form To Enter New Record?

Oct 23, 2013

I have a main form created from a query (FrmQuerySearchResults) which has a sub-form within, (FrmPresentationsTabular) which I am using to show each presentation to our service made by any given client.

For ease of use, I've removed the navigation buttons and want to replace them with my own command buttons. For appearance, I've changed the properties of the sub-form so that 'allow additions' is set to No. This is so that the list of presentations users see does not show the bottom row as a new record.

I'm trying (using macros) to add a button in the footer of the subform that opens a new form (FrmNewPresentation) which opens to a blank record allowing the user to click button, enter info, hit close.

I'm having all sorts of trouble getting this button to do as its told! So far, I have a macro that has 2 steps, first it opens FrmNewPresentation, then it has action GoToRecord, with record set to New, object type set to Table, object name set to Presentations (the name of my table populating this sub-form).

I realise the problem may be the allow additions property being set to No, so I believe I need to add parts to this Macro that goes to that property and changes it on opening the input form - I keep getting a message saying "The object 'Presentations' isn't open.

Forms :: Command Button - Form Opens To New Record But Not Specific One

Jul 2, 2013

I have a form that opens from a different form based on the primary key within the original form. Unfortunately it seems to be opening a new record every time I open the form--not only from the original form but also straight from the sidebar.

The command button that opens the second form from the first uses the following VBA:

DoCmd.OpenForm "ZooMobile Incomplete Booking-Return Client", , , "[Event_ID] = " & Me.EventID

This exact coding worded perfectly in a similar set of forms that I had created; the only difference is a change in the form name & primary key field.

Add onto this, I think that the code DOES work, but then it immediately opens another new record. When I open the second form from the command button, then change to Design View, the form's Filter property is set to [Event_ID]=X (where X is the proper key from the first form) and Filter On Load is set to Yes. The X in the Filter changes accordingly when it changes in the first form. Also, every time I open the form a new record is added to the underlying table.

I've tried setting "Allow Additions" in the second form to No, but then when I open the form nothing appears. Literally; the entire form is blank, no labels, textboxes, combos, buttons or anything. When going to Design View it's still all there.

I've also checked the On_Load, On_Current & Form_Current events and found nothing. I even deleted them and the problem still occurred.

Forms :: Control Button Linked To Specific Record In A Continuous Form

Access 2010. I have a form pulling from a query to create a "To Do' list of sorts. On this form is a button to open an input form for the corresponding record (I hope). When this button is used I want it to pull certain data for that specific line from the query and input it into the new record opened by the button. I know this is possible as I use another db that does this but I have not been able to figure out how to make it work in the new db.

I am sure the answer is quite obvious but I just can't seem to see it.

Forms :: Hyperlink Button For Each Record?

My idea is the button to have a logo of the site so that is why i cant just put a link in a text box. I also tried embedding a hyperlink to a picture but again i had the same problem.. there was only one hyperlink for all the records .

Forms :: Record Navigation Button

Mar 25, 2015

I am using Access 2007 and am a former user of an old flat-file 32 bit program under Windows 3.x. I am fairly new to MS Access 2007. I run a filter or query, which will return X number of records. Then, I will search those X records by specific text, such as "assist" from the record navigation buttons. I search for "assist" and the text will be highlighted each time it is found in any text or memo field in the record. Hitting Enter takes me to the next occurrence and highlights the text. If "assist" occurs in 4 fields in a record, for instance, it will be highlighted in each of those 4 fields one by one as I hit Enter. The next Enter takes me to the next record and will then continue to the next occurrence of assist" in any of its fields. It will continue to highlight "assist" in those fields, in succession, until the last occurrence in all of those records is found, in which case Enter does not return "assist" anymore because the last occurrence has already been found.

This does not always work. Often, I get every occurrence of "assist," but in the current record only, even though the word exists in other remaining records that were returned with my original filters/query.

Forms :: Command Button To Save Changes On The Record

Sep 30, 2014

I have a form named CORRES_TYP with 3 text boxes and a list box. I also have a separate table with 3 field from where the information I put in the form was saved.

In my form whenever I put information on the textbox at hit add record button, these information are saved in my table and will reflect on the listbox on my form below the textboxes. Also if I select a record in the Listbox the record I selected will apprear on the corresponding textbox in the same form.

My problem is that I have been trying to create a command button that will save and change the existing record everytime I select an item in the list box and modify the information through the textbox. Here are some infromation about my table and form:

Table name = CORRES_TYP
Field 1 = CODE (Primary key, No Duplicates)
Field 2 = DESCRIPTION
Field 3 = FOLDER

Form name = CORRES_TYP
Textbox 1 = CODE
Textbox 2 = DESCRIPTION
Textbox 3 = FOLDER
Listbox name = LIST14

Go To Previous Record : DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acPrevious

Forms :: Command Button To Add New Record In Subform

Nov 5, 2013

I am designing a database to manage hospital patient data. I will have to enter info at various points, e.g. when a patient is referred, admitted, discharged...

So for example, I have a main form with the patient's name and two subforms, one with the referral details (e.g. date, name of referrer...), and one with the admission details (e.g. date, diagnosis). They are linked through Parent-child links to the main form by PatientID. So, when I enter a new PatientID in the main form, the ID in the subforms is automatically added/synchronized.

However, I would like it not to be...since not all patients that are referred are then admitted. Therefore I would like to have a command button in the main Form that allows me to control when a new patient record is added to the admission subform. In other words, I would like an "Add a new Record in the admissions subform" button, which then creates a new record, with matching PatientID in the admissions subform (and in the related table). Is this possible???

I have tried using the command button wizard but it either requires a record to be already present in the subform, or it takes me to the first record of the form, and not the matching PatientID one.

Forms :: Getting Subform To Open To A New Record When Button Is Clicked

Mar 3, 2015

I have a subform [ctrlLogDetail] on a parent form [incidentdetails] that is opened by the user when they click on a button on a navigation form. These forms are used for a variety of purposes. The problem I'm having is that the user needs to be able to select an incident number and go to the appropriate form (I accomplish this by using this code: DoCmd.OpenForm "IncidentDetails", acNormal, , "Activity_ID = " & Me.cboINum in the on click event of the button.) This works appropriately. The subform is also appropriately linked to the parent form.

I need an additional line of code to have the subform go to a new record when the form opens to an existing incident number. Since I use this form/subform when doing different tasks, having the Docmd.RunCommand acCmdRecordsGoToNew in the Form on open event isn't optimal.

I only want the LogDetail subform to open to a new record when the user wants to add an entry, but not when they need to edit a specific entry. What is the appropriate syntax to use either in the openargs event of the openform command or elsewhere in the procedure so that the gotonew function on the subform only occurs when this button is clicked? I'm having difficulty getting access to understand that I want the subform to open to a new record but not the parent form.

Forms :: Record Is Written Only When Command Button Is Pressed

Sep 17, 2013

I have a form which displays some product details and a stock level. The subform below it allows entry of a quantity to issue and a control button to run a small macro, write a movement record to a stock movement table and then close the form. This works fine.

But the user can also cause the movement record to be written just by keying in a quantity and tabbing out. If this is done several times it writes several movement records and doesn't close the form. I want to ensure that record is only written when the command button is pressed.

Perhaps there is a more conventional or better way of achieving what I want but I can't think of it.
