View RepliesWould it be ok just to make a copy of the BE file (every so often) rather than to make a copy via code?The user can then just paste over the original if it becomes corrupt.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a database with multiple forms and I would like to on close I would assume of the form, save a backup to a specific folder. This will all change once I move the database to the server but for now want a backup on my machine. Here is my code:
Code:
Private Sub Form_Close()
Call db_backup
End Sub
Below is in a module
[code]...
The problem is when I run this the program will give me an error saying: runtime error 438 object does not support this property or method
I am building a database where one Form displays records from 14 different tables. For some reason, when I recently try to add a field on to a form from a new table, the ENTIRE form loses the record source, and every single field that is already on the form gets that green dot in the corner with errors surrounding a record source that cannot be found. What am I doing wrong? Am I exceeding some limitations with forms?
View 4 Replies View RelatedNo matter how much I maximize or minimize Access (2010) my tables fill the entire screen. This happened once before but I don't recall the fix. It was something very simple. How to make the table not fill the entire screen?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI currently have a form for a handover process and am looking to have a button to ideally take a section of inputted information from the form and place this into an email.
IncidentReferenceNumberName1
DescriptionSignificant1
ActionTakenSignificant1
CurrentStatusSignificant1
TimeLoggedSignificant1
TimeResolvedSignificant1
NumberofcallsreceivedSignificant1
Are my fields, this goes up to 4.
I want to copy all these fields from my form, ideally into a new email but if not possible then atleast just to clipboard, is there any way to do this?
I'm after a macro or something to allow me to map a button on a form so that when it's pressed it copy's a certain field to the clipboard?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am building a report that has a header with several details followed by a detail section.
What I need to do is make the entire entry not visible on the report if one of the dates is null.
So it looks like this
last first title id memb # date a date b
1. smith , john fng 8521 2356224
5/12/2012 6/20/2013
10/2/2013 (is null)
2. neckbone, jim dude 2548 85858412
6/20/2013 5/5/2014
8/5/2013 2/31/2013
On the report i want the 1st entry (smith john) not to be visible due to the null (B) Date.... but i want it to be visible once the date is entered...
I've rebooted my copy record button and just used the macro wizard for now, it seems to work as far as I can tell but there is something strange about it.
I've added in some text boxes so I've got some confirmation, but when I click this copy button I get the following error;
"The command or action 'RecordsGoToNew' isn't available now."
I have a form with several subforms for entering information while surveying rooms in a building. I am trying to create a button to copy records from one of the subforms if the data is the same (for example if there are 3 types of flooring in multiple rooms) and append it into the same subform with a different space ID. I can not get it to recognize the Space ID on the current record. This is what I have in the command button code:
Private Sub AppendFloorCmd_Click()
Dim FloorTypes As String, SpaceUpdate As String
Dim CurrentSpace As TextBox
Set CurrentSpace = Me.SpaceID
FloorTypes = "INSERT INTO FlooringSurveyTable (FlooringHomoID)" & _
"SELECT FlooringSurveyTable.FlooringHomoID FROM FlooringSurveyTable " & _
"WHERE (((FlooringSurveyTable.SpaceID)=[Enter Space ID to copy]))"
[code]....
When I click the button, it appends the right records but makes me type in the current space ID - I've tried a bunch of ways of naming that control, but it will not work.
I am using code like this to give warning messages and pass on focus to boxes only when things are selected.
Private Sub TextBox2_Exit(Cancel As Integer)
If IsNull(Me.TextBox2) Then
MsgBox "TextBox2 cannot be left blank"
Cancel = True
Else
ComboBox1.SetFocus
End If
End Sub
I do this for a series of required fields in order.
However, I also want a command button that is 'Exit without Saving' that should be clickable at any time, but of course when focus is controlled in my required fields sequence, it can't be clicked. How can I separate this button?
Hi :rolleyes:
I would like when I click a button for the system to automatically create a copy of the whole database and place it into a separate folder. How would I do this??? :confused:

Is there a way to search an entire database? Almost like a Google search where a user could put in a few key words and it would retrieve all records no matter which fields the key words appeared in?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHi,
I am running an autocompact module in Access97 which will created a 'compacted version' of my database. I then want to rename this compacted version to the name of the original database I compacted. I cannot however find a way of doing this in code.
Basically the idea is to compact every 45 minutes or so, but what my autocompact is doing is creating a compacted version under a different name, and so compacting a copy of the database, I then want to change this compacted database name to the original name and re compact every 45 mins
Can anyone help?
I have access BD and every one use it through shared folder. My problem is in attachment ! , if i use the regular attachment filed in access there is one user only able to attach files and others can`t attach any thing until he finish.
I tried to do attachment through VBA like below which make it worse as it lock the DB so, no one can even open the DB and one user only access the DB .
Dim db As DAO.Database
Dim rsParent As DAO.Recordset2
Dim rsChild As DAO.Recordset2
Set db = CurrentDb
Set rsParent = me.Recordset
[Code] .....
How multi users attach files at the same time without locking the DB.....
I wonder if by any chance it is possible to create a search bar that scans the entire database- or lemme say the fields i assigned to such search bar- that can be put in the switchboard or so.
According to my level of understanding of access, this should be a query.
However, is it possible to make it appear like a search bar that could be placed where I want it; in this case in the switchboard??
Does it require a certain code or something?
Not a very important question and is just for aesthetics however is there a way to make every form, every command button the same colour, font, size etc?
I have selected a theme however it does not change all forms, labels, text boxes, etc
I don't really want to have to go change them all one by one
For example I would like to get rid of all the navigation on all my forms can you change it over whole database or just individually?
I would like to create a command button on my form that copies values from 5 fields in the current record into a new record leaving all the other fields blank except for the new record ID.
The fields that contain the data that I want copied into a new form are:
1. Member_Name
2. Member_ID
3. Account
4. UBH/PBH
5. Assigned_WRCA
I am working on a database project where I will Select a record on a subform
See the picture attached.
I know that using DAO recordset, i can update the checkbox one by one, but it become way too long when I have thousands of record...
May I know if there is a way to Select entire column of the subform?
Hello, Here's my situation. I inherited an Access db that prompts me for a password when attempting to open it in Access. Of course; no one has the password. However; queries run fine with this db via the web using the existing ASP and VBScript pages. The code for the db connection script shows a login, but it doesn't work when I try it to open the db in Access. With that said, I need to somehow query all the tables of the existing db via the web and come up with a script that would automatically create a new database set up exactly as the existing one is. Also; how would I write the script to make the connections to 2 databases (the existing one to grab the content and the new one to insert the grabbed content)?
Thanks in advance!
Hi there,
Can someone help me on this issue?
I want to copy Postal Address Information to Visit Address Information wthin the same record, in my Contact Database that I am building at the moment.
I want to copy 4 fields to 4 other fields within the same Record.
This the current code I use for the Copy-button:
---
Private Sub cmdCopyFields_Click()
Dim v1 As Variant
Dim v2 As Variant
Dim v3 As Variant
Dim v4 As Variant
v1 = Me!Field_a.Value
v2 = Me!Field_b.Value
v3 = Me!Field_c.Value
v4 = Me!Field_d.Value
RunCommand acCmdRecordsGoToNew
Me!Field_e = v1
Me!Field_f = v2
Me!Field_g = v3
Me!Field_h = v4
End Sub
---
The underlined part (acCmdRecordsGoToNew) is false part of this code, because it copies the Adress Info to a new record, instead of copying it in the same.
-Is there someone that can help me with this problem, to make the copy-button in the Form run properly?
-Are there other options to achieve te same?
I have put in a attachment, to give you guys a visual example of what I mean.
Thanks in advance,
Quinten
why the code below is not functioning properly. When I type in an acronym in the textbox, it keeps saying there is an error "Run-time error '3345': Unkown or invalid field reference 'ABO'." I do have ABO in the field.
The dysfunctional code:
Code:
Private Sub btnFind_Click()
If (TxtFind & vbNullString) = vbNullString Then Exit Sub
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Set rs = Me.RecordsetClone
rs.FindFirst "[Acronym] = " & TxtFind
[Code] .....
The red highlighted line is where the debugger leads me to. Something with identifying the field? I would like to enable the search procedure to search throughout the entire records rather than just a specific field. How may I write such a line or two?
what I want to do is make a button to search range of columns in data table with data type Yes/no and display the results if the value is yes

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a form with two unbound text boxes: HireMovieID and HireCustomerID, and a button HireButton which runs my query: HireHistoryQuery. Then I have a table: HireHistory. In my HireHistory table, I have my CustomerID's along the top as column names. Then the records for those columns are in this sort of format: "0001 on 19/05/2006" as type Text.How can I make it so that when a user enters a Customer ID (e.g. 23) into my HireCustomerID box in my form, it shows column number 23 and all it's records?
Also, what code do I need so that if someone enters something into the HireMovieID text box in my form (e.g. 0001) it shows all of the instances of that from the whole table in its respective column?
