I have a spreadsheet that has been downloaded from a website. On the website people have chosen from a group of 28 checkboxes their answer. I have imported this spreadsheet into access. I now need to be able to run a report that shows only the one they chose instead of listing all 28..

I have a simple data entry form with drop down facilities on 2 fields. One of these fields incorporates a drop down list from a table but there are occasions when I wish to make a free text entry for the single record, but do not wish to add it to the drop down list.
I have tried to achieve this with a Combo Box but without success, although I am sure that I have read that it is possible.

I am an Ms Access newbie and need some help on how to update 2 fields from a drop down list.
The drop down list has 5 columns. The first column is the partname that is bound and updates the table with that partname. I want to take the
listprice which is the 5th column and update a field in the table with the listprice that corresponds to the part name.
Thank you.

I have a Access DB created. I have a field, which is a dropdown list. The users can go in to a form and manually create a record into the table etc.
However, i've some data that I'd like to import into the DB.
This data is in Excel.
When i import the data, everything is fine but the column that has the information for the dropdown field does not import.
so to clarifiy, the field in the DB is a dropdown list.
the field in the Excel data is just a plain text entry.
is there somehow i can import this data?

I'm a new user of Access and I'm required to input a survey into access. The data collected is being analyzed afterwards and therefore there cannot be any alpha content in the original table so I assigned multiple choice options numbers to correspond to the answers. In form view however I need the drop down boxes to spell out the answers, not just the numbers so the interviewer can read them out, I've seen this done on other similar surveys..I also tried going into form view and editing the drop down choices but that changes the table values.

I have created a database which is used as a sign in and out machine for students. I have 2 forms a 'sign in' which has a lookup list containing all student names. as well as date and time and a 'sign out form' which uses a lookup list from the sign in form.
It collects data fine but when a student signs in and out a second time there name is duplicated in the 'sign out' drop down list. The student must select the right name out of the duplicates otherwise it wont record.
Im just wondering if there is some sort of fix to this.

Is there a function that will populate a field with drop down menu based on two criteria?I want the the fields with first and last name to populate with drop down lists based on the employee code I have inputted in the form and job title from a query.
Path: looks at employee code from form > looks at specific job title from query > pulls out all first names in one field and all last names in another field with the same job title in drop down list from query
Employee Code: 100
Returns all employees' first names in first field with same job title:
Prince
Tina
Greg
Returns all employees' last names in second field of form with same job title:
Fey
William
Jones
Here's what the query looks like in datasheet view:
Code:
Location # First Name Last Name Job Title Employee Code
1 John Smith Technician 100
2 Jane Doe Manager 100
2 Greg Jones Engineer 100
1 Prince William Engineer 100
1 Tina Fey Engineer 100
I've been trying to get dlookup to work, but no luck. Here's one of my formula:
Code:
=DLookUp("[Last Name]", "[Employees tb]", _ "[Employee Code] = Form![Employee Code]" & "[Employees tb]", _ " [Manager]"
SELECT EmployeeCodeONLY.[Employee Code] FROM EmployeeCodeOnly;
SELECT [Employees tb].[First Name] FROM [Employees tb] WHERE ((([Employees tb].[First NAME])=[Forms]![Form1]![Employee Code]));
The first is linked to a separate table that only contains employee codes because query I am working with has duplicates due to multiple records. The second is trying to link both the table and query together to populate only first name.how to include the second criteria, job title, to refine it more.

I have an issue with a couple of my combo boxes. When in form mode the drop down menu displays a list of options (taken from my source table), this is fine, but the problem is that it allows the user to select more than one of the options in the form of checkboxes. This is not what I intended.
I've attached to pictures to demonstrate the problem. The first is ComboBoxQuery (the one with the problem) and the second is ComboBoxQueryWorkign (the one without a problem).
I'm not sure why this is happening and I've tried comparing all the properties of both these combo boxes and changing some of them to see if I can eliminate the problem without any joy.
I use a very standard SELECT statement to pull the data for the combo box:
SELECT CountryID, CountryName FROM tblCountryInfo ORDER By CountryName

In my form's table (tblMain), I've got a lookup field (drop-down list) that lists the primary key field from a different table (tblDiff). tblDiff includes 3 more fields. In my form for tblMain, I want to include 3 more textboxes that get filled up with these 3 fields from tblDiff when the corresponding primary key is selected in the drop-down box.

I've got a field in a table that is a multiple drop-down list. In the form, I don't want it to be a drop down list, but I want the options in the drop down list to be checkboxes instead (not within a drop down).

I have a table with a list of Students. While the academic year is in progress those students are in an "Active" status. Once the year is finished those students are moved into (hopefully) a "Passed" status or some other status that is not considered "Active".
Throughout the rest of the database I have many forms that refer to the Student Listing. As an example we have a Test so we select the Student performing the test using a Drop Down List and go from there.
I have set search criteria to the Drop Down List via the Combo Box's Query to only display active students and it works fine during the Academic Year. However if I have to review a test from a previous year then the Student Drop Down List no longer displays the name but their ID# (Primary Key) because the Student's status has now changed and no longer meets the query criteria.
Is there a way to use the Filter/Search Criteria to chose from a listing of Active Students but once selected it will display the Student name regardless of their status?

I am trying to change the button color on a subform if a related form data changes.Main form is products with a continuous subform with serial numbers of products i.e, serial number, location, price and a button to add addtional issues if there are any for this particular serial number (this will open up another form related to the serial number so I can add an issues if there are any). The reason I would like the button to be a different color is so I can quickly see if there are any additional notes been added to the serial number. Just in case you may ask why not add the field to the continuos form is that the issues and be quite lengthy and there may be lots of serial numbers on the form
2346 location warehouse price 29.99 (button - green)
2347 location shop price 29.99 (button - red)

I have made my first form and I did not to bad (?). I am thinking there is a faster way to enter data into my drop down box. I have set the tabs in the order I like but I have to tab to the next dropbox, then double click to open the box, then double click on my choice then double click on the next one. Is there a quicker way to go through 25 dropboxs?

The following code works to change the column header name for a listbox in form view when the data source is a local table, but not when the data comes from a sharepoint list.
Code:
sqlstatement = "SELECT ID, PONum as [PO Number], ActDate as [Date], VendorName as [Vendor Name], Service, BuildingNumber as [Building Number], ReservationDescription as [Description], POAmount as [Amount], QuoteType as [Type of Quote], Comments" & _
" FROM ActivityLog" & _
" WHERE (Activity = 'AcceptReservation') AND (PSCName = '" & Me.PSCCombo4.Column(0) & "')" & _
" ORDER BY ActDate;"
'MsgBox sqlstatement
Me.EditPOListBox.RowSource = sqlstatement
sqlstatement = ""
Also it appears that there is no such thing as a caption property for a sharepoint list column.

I have:
Tables: Customer and Orders
Relationship: Customer ID is the primary key in Customer and is a foreign key in order table.
I need to create a Form with contains all the customer info from the customer table, as a drop down list. Once the customer is selected, all their orders should appear in a subform. At the minute I can get a form to work which shows all the orders but you have to go to the next record so see the order. For example it will say John smith and one order. The next record will be John smith again and their second order in the sub from.
I have used access in the past and I am fine with creating everything apart from the drop down. I am just a bit lost with the structure.

DLookup function. (this is for a stamp collection database).
On my form ("InventoryInput") I have a text box called "Catalog" for a numeric entry and a text combo box for selecting a "Country" in drop down list.
I want to query a table called "CatNameList" to get the "StampName" of the item (based on the entries of Catalog and Country) and populate that name in the text box. The fields in this table are called "StampName", "CatNumb" & "CName" respectively.
I have successfully placed the following expression in the control source of that textbox and able to populate the StampName I need based solely on the catalog number alone.
That express is :
=DLookUp("StampName", "CatNameList", "CatNumb = Form![Catalog]")
So it will populate the "StampName" data to match the "Catalog" number entry just fine.
However, I need to add a second layer to incorporate the Country.
Example : There is a catalog "1" for "USA", and a catalog "1" for "Canada" but both have different "StampName".
I have been attempting to get that second piece added with no success. Here is the expression I have been trying to get to work :
=DLookUp("StampName", "CatNameList", "[CatNumb] = " & [Catalog] & " And CName = '" & [Country] & "'")
Right now, the text box is just blank with the above expression. I thought it may be because there was no match found, but I have triple checked to ensure I have the spelling correct on the country name in both places.
Basically, I just need the dlookup to take the "catalog" and "country" off the form and match it to the "CatNameList" table fields of "CatNumb" and "CName" to give me "StampName" field back on the form.

Hello all!
I have a drop down menu that pulls values from a table. When clicked that value pops up in a total field. Currently I only allow 1 value to be selected. When the user (me at this point) chooses another value, the value is added to the total instead of updating with the new value. So the every time it is clicked it just goes up and up. So I decided to add a loop. However it seems my look is not having an affect but obviously it is being read since the first part is being processed. I thought I would post it to gather thoughts... Thank you!
Quote: Private Sub lstbagels_Click() Dim newcharge1 As Currency Dim newcharge2 As Currency Dim oldcharge As Currency If oldcharge = 0 Then newcharge1 = Me.lstbagels.Column(2, Me.lstbagels.ListIndex) Me.txttotal.Value = Me.txttotal.Value + newcharge1 oldcharge = newcharge1 Else newcharge2 = Me.lstbagels.Column(2, Me.lstbagels.ListIndex) Me.txttotal.Value = Me.txttotal.Value - oldcharge + newcharge2 oldcharge = newcharge2 End If End Sub

I have one more question:
I have a ComboBox in a form that is looking at a field in a Table. When I select one of the items from the drop down it finds the record and shows all the fields in the form...
Everything works great, but
THere are quite a few records in the database, maybe 1000. If I use the scroll on the drop down and drag it to its bottom and let go, its not actually at the bottom. I have to do this repeatably in order to get to the full set of records.
Is there and easier way to do this?
I have run into this on other occasions with smaller number of records as well.
Would this run faster if I grabed this list from a query instead? And then set the form record to the value of the drop down (runngin the query)
Thanks in advance...

Hello,
Ok, let me preface this with I'm a newbie at Access, and I'm currently using Access 2003. I'm just hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Right now I have multiple tables with set data in them that doesn't change linked to another table where I have a drop down menu (combo box I think it's called in Access) to easily select the given data from. I want to have a drop down box (combo box) to have a set of given variables I have in a table to put in the search criteria. That way a user doesn't have to type the exact criteria into a query. That way I can easily put in the variables I want to search from in the query with less chance of an error. I'm hoping this is possible.
Ideally if I could get help in how to make a form that would allow me to have the set of columns from the corresponding tables with combo boxes to select from and then be able to have a "subimt" button and have it organize the selected results into that form as well.
Thank you for taking time to read this.
